What does it mean to be apart of division 6? That question shall be determined based on the task ahead. For the obstacle ahead will be a very challenging one.
”I see
The first words that escaped from his lips as the note that had been read, all of a sudden became nonexistence. A letter that had been delivered to the quarters of division 6 by an anonymous individual, whom had neither shown no signs of entry or departure. This left Shirogane with more questions than answers. Despite whom the individual or what the individual is, it wouldn’t have matter. The Prodigy of the Kuchiki is bound to his sense of duty to track down and pass judgement on them. Once they are captured they would answer for their misdeeds against the Gotei 13, punishable by death. Their very existence would wither away and forgotten about. The seed of chaos would no longer spread within these walls of the Seireitei. Hollow or shinigami, before long they would come face to face, eye to eye with a man who does not waver in the face of death. Death; The very word that strikes fear in people’s hearts and minds. Those who aren’t ready to face it, hide from just the thought of dying. They consider death as unfathomable, as it is inevitable. Weak minded people barely able to talk about it, to peer beyond the word itself and allow themselves to contemplate its true implications. This is something Shirogane, the herald of the Kuchiki clan shall have the threat come face, death. The Seirietei has fallen under adversity, dealing with something they cannot comprehend. Or rather unable to handle the threat properly. So they had succumb to fear and doubt; uncertain on how to proceed with dealing with a situation. Unclear on who to trust at this point so the blame is becoming out of place with no actual facts on the who or what.
Shirogane had been up to the task and shall use every skill necessary to bring peace back to the Seireitei once more. After all this task is suited for the likes of Division 6 that has complete authority over those who breaks the law. It is the sort of group who essentially police the Gotei 13. Everything from petty crimes such as; theft, white collar crimes such as fraud, embezzlement, and smuggling; and major crimes such as murder, and treason. This Division are the ones who patrol the streets and defend the districts in the case of an organized attacks, much like the ongoing attack now. Shirogane was inside his quarters when reading the message that had been delivered. It was skeptical that this anonymous individual would go to a great deal of trouble of sending this inconspicuous letter, but also leaving no traces on the note to track back to them. It could be easily determine many variables which one of them is.....trust. Another variable is that they could just be setting Shirogane up or to make someone look like the suspect to throw him off track. Many things to consider moving forward now that this has become part of an investigation of Division 6. Finding a murderer is never easy, especially someone who can camouflage themselves to disguise themselves as or even with anyone. There are some key factors to consider. One of those factors like DNA, could be ruled out due to the fact that method requires using division 12 resources to determine DNA and time. And time isn’t something Shirogane like wasting either. Even if that method has already been ruled out, it was already stated no DNA was found at the scene. That is something Shirogane would have to determine on his own accord. At this moment, time is precious before the next victim has fallen to this…..Phantom Killer? However, there were things to assess such as location(s), murderers who plan their crimes will choose their location carefully, especially where they commit the murder and how they can dispose of the body quickly and easily. But reports stated it was a hollow, Shirogane would find that highly unlikely that a hollow could perform such a feat to leave the Division 2 Captain astonished. It is just unbelievable. The truth shall come to light by the end of this day. That is something Shirogane is certain of. One could assume, if it was a hollow it wouldn’t just attack weaker shinigami. Normally a hollow attack high spiritual energy individuals, to feed on them to make them stronger. An undeniable hunger for power, that a hollow is unable to control themselves. On top of that, these attacks could possibly have been planned or random. That is something to think about as well. Another way of method would be timing. Timing of the murder is important and will tell Shirogane a lot. Thinking like a killer, who intend on committing a crime will plan it and thus, they will choose a time when their intended victim is at their most vulnerable. In most cases, this will be during the hours of darkness, especially the early hours of the morning. Very few people are moving around at this time, thus there is less chance of them being spotted. Something that Division 2 is very well capable of achieving. Crimes that are committed during daylight hours are dangerous acts, skirting on the edge of being discovered in the act. This could mean one of two things – a sense of danger or exhibitionism, or an unplanned act; aforementioned.
Given the recent reports the timing has been off. Two shinigami’s had been killed during the day, while three had been killed overnight. Five deaths in one day? Could a hollow perform this without being spotted? Could it actually be a hollow? Just a ruse people are saying out of fear? Were there really no witnesses? Surely further investigation would determine that to be true or false and the questions that need answering will come in due time. The serial killer has been concealing themselves, blending in with other people. A very troublesome matter indeed. Some people attempt to uncover the identity of a murderer, will leave no stone unturned. To the untrained mind, many people think that people look like criminals, or someone will look like a murderer. They will often assume that people will look guilty or give themselves away. The sad truth is that some criminals are so adept at criminal acts that their lack of compassion or guilt is not apparent – and a criminal will blend in with the people around them. With that said it wouldn’t be that easy to locate them, even if reiatsu/reiryoku was an option. Apparently they leave no trace. Perhaps disguising themselves completely? Or an item that allows this to occur? Shirogane definitely had an obstacle to overcome and by any means necessary he will aim to succeed. While spending all that time standing in one place to decipher and think of every possible way on how to proceed forward with the investigation. Cracking down on every variable and possibilities. The distant sound of a scream from outside ensued the barracks. Such noise managed to be heard through the walls of the garrison. This caught Shirogane’s immediate attention, grabbing both of his weapons that are rested within the deep black lacquer scabbard, which is essential to his very being. The paper door slid open to one side, stepping outside. The weight of his steps would create pressure onto the floorboard.
Creak Creak Creak
Is the harsh sound that would emerge into the garden area. A corpse could be seen from the porch, face first in the grass. No blood. No wound. Pathetic. Is something he would probably come to believe that shinigami was. A pitiful individual who allowed this killer to get the drop on them without putting up a fight. Then again, it wouldn’t entirely be his fault for not being born royalty. There was no room for mistakes, no room to allow anyone to get in over someone of royal status. It was because of that, Shirogane did not rushed over to the body like a caped superhero looking to save the day. Mainly took a slow stride towards the lifeless body. Both royal purple irises were scanning the area and around the body for any clues. Nothing at this time. Both eyes were now slowly coming to a closed while concentrating on all of his senses; hearing, smelling, feeling.
”Lub-DUB……...Lub-DUB……..Lub-DUB….Lub……..du-”
The faint beat of the heart had slowed until it came to a complete stop, just by hearing it without having to place an ear upon the chest of this individual. He wasn't dead yet after all. Shirogane had tried to locate any signs of the suspect in question but they seem to have been out of his range. Being ineffectual to pinpoint the distinctive sign of the culprit. Although, there were a group of division 6 members that were at the scene before he arrived. Just inspecting the body with a sudden shock. They flipped the body over to see if there was any clue as to what may have caused this poor soul demise. But they came up short of nothing. There was nothing but the light that has left the eyes of the victim. The group didn’t seem all that disturbed but rather surprised? Shirogane on the other hand didn’t seem pleased, came off as rather; unbothered and detached. Just a normal expression of his.
”Have any of you seen anything?”
Without actually staring at them, looking at the body instead. They were silent. They didn’t seem to have the will to answer, either out of fear, lack of knowledge or just didn’t know what to say. Either or. They didn’t answer when Shirogane asked them a simple question.
”Do not make me asked again. I do not like having to repeat myself more than once.”
The tone of his voice had been threatening; yet so calm at the same time. They all shook their heads immediately and replied
”No. We haven’t seen anything.” Shirogane eyes squint with uncertainty that either of them were speaking the truth. Balls of sweat leaving their forehead, trailing down to their chin. Their eyes seem to be fixated on hiding something they are not wanting to share. Their hearts were fluctuating than before. A much larger group of robed soldiers of the same division had arrived on the scene. While seemingly so, they were shocked to see this unspeakable event and asked what happened. Shirogane did not answer them.
”Take these 4 into the holding cells, they are suspects to this murder. I shall question them later. And keep the place lockdown until I return.”
Ordering them with such authority that they did as requested of Shirogane while the four in question was trying to fight off the detainees
”Why!? We didn’t do anything! We swear!” their cries of innocence had fell upon death ears. Shirogane hardly pay them any mind while they were being escorted away. With them being in holding that limits them from being either the suspects or an accessory to doing harm. It couldn’t be helped to think that a hollow couldn't have been the cause of this. For none of the bodies that is left behind aren’t eaten. Such an act is nothing more than the skills of division 2, no question about it. Would it be safe to leave the Division unattended? There was nothing else he could do to protect the division at this point. The answers he seeks lies in Division 2, in hopes of uncovering the actual hostile behind these heinous killing. Soon Division 4 will have to view the bodies. But before heading over to division 2, the first stop will have to be Division 4 where they should have some answers to the wounds, if they are any on the bodies. Shirogane tucked both sacred weapons into the sash; both on the same side. Sole clapping against the ground while walking down the corridor of this long path. Though if this path does leads him to Division 2 being the suspects. This made Shirogane think about what he shalldo if someone within that particular division is really behind this? It is obvious that he will deal with them and/or anyone who may prevent him from carrying out the task. Division 2 was the one who gave him the job to locate the hostile. What if…..just what if…..they were only trying to cover up their tracks? Despite Shirogane theories, all it was doing was creating more questions and variables. Though instincts tell him it was division 2, so he would need evidence to prove that his instincts were correct. The question is what would he do next if it TRULY wasn’t them?
As the young proud Kuchiki traveled along the given path he couldn't help but notice that someone has been following him. The sound of their soft foot trailing his about 20 feet away. Their steps betrayed them unknowingly. When he comes to a stop, the sound of this pursuer would have come to a stop. Testing them to confirm this suspicion which in turn he would have been correct. The moment he began to take decisive steps, the sound of their movements increased. They were running to attack behind while the sound of their sword drawn from its sheath. Shirogane didn’t do anything but stop walking, kept his back facing the individual. Sloppy and pitiful. Clearly this was the unfortunate soul first time attacking someone from behind. Steps were too loud and him charging in was the biggest mistake of their life. For Shirogane could see but not see the individual behind him, waiting for the opportunity. The attacker raised their weapon and was looking to bring it down vertically with force. Shirogane wrapped his fingers around the scabbard while using the thumb to push against the square iron gold guard out just a tad, moment the blade of the assailant brought their sword over their head.
A sudden surge of dense spiritual power would have exerted from his very person, releasing a thick, potent pressure around him that smothers and overwhelms those in his presence without warning. That being would be the attacker himself. The radius of the area around him would feel the heavy burden of Shirogane’s disturbing spiritual pressure. So disturbing that it would have completely hinder the shinigami before him to move any more, sweating from their brows, unable to complete the job. No matter how much they struggle to fight the pressure, they would just succumb to the sheer force of this immense power. Falling to their knees while the weapon to kill fell from their hand. The weight of this insurmountable capacity would have been too much for him that he sobbed and begged for mercy. The Prodigy of the Kuchikis putting on such a display without caring of those within the area nearby.
”Tell me why I shouldn’t just kill you right now?”
Those cold killer eyes staring straight into the shinigami eyes, though he seems emotionless. Behind those same emotionless eyes, were an ominous, murderous sensation, a side that not many have a chance to see in this lifetime yet. The abstract around Shirogane became dark and sinister that without a moment of hesitation the shinigami would have felt cold. His neck begin to just bleed profusely, leaking from a wound he would not come to realize appeared. Seeing Shirogane sword drawn, holding it at an horizontal angle towards the right side. Blood dripping from the edge of the cold steel. The shinigami would suffer by struggling to breathe, eyes going into "shock" while kneeling on both knees. Shirogane would drop his influence over the shinigami whom would come to realized soon, there was no blood. The sword was never drawn, unable to comprehend of what took place. To every fiber of his being, his mind truly believe that he was dying. Drenched in his own sweat while trying to understand what just happened. But because it was too much for him to handle the "shock" of the event led him to fall unconscious. Soon after intending on walking away and Shirogane removed his hand from the scabbard. A massive group of shinigami came from all two intersections of the pathways.
They're all panting heavily where they were coming to see what the meaning of the immense presence of the intense spiritual pressure. All they would see is Shirogane standing next to a corpse, much like before within his barracks.
"H-...h-....he killed him!?"
The shinigami shouted while no one else spoken up after the outburst but majority them felt hesitant. The one who spoken up drawn his sword but because the rest were already seed it with terror in their eyes and confusion. They all drawn their blades with the attempt in going after Shirogane for appearing as a suspect. This was the influence this Phantom Killer has over the Gotei 13. They sow the seed and now it is developing into something that they were anticipating. This wasn't the time to be handling this and more was bound to be more on the way as well. Which they could easily be overpowered but much like the one who attacked him, it would just end up being the same result. With that Shirogane took off running in the opposite direction that was clear and allowed them to follow him. It had soon started, the chaos ensuing and Shirogane has yet to figure out anything as of yet. But the sooner he can locate the real threat, the better. At the moment Shirogane was now marked as a suspect, a criminal at least until he clears his name. They all bellowed after Shirogane, fueled by the fire that they truly believe he was the one.
