Character Name: Kiyobu Kouken
(後見; "Joyous Warrior")—(喜武; "Guardian")
Kiyobu Kouken (後見喜武, “Joyous Warrior Guardian”) is an Academy Student in the Seireitei. His mother and father raised him in a large aristocratic home in District 1 of the Rokungai. He was introduced to his family's more profound background and the Kouken Shinkou (‘規約信仰’, “Guardian Creed”), which was meant to just bring him up in nobility and teach him how to lead a more spiritual and compassionate life. The Kouken Shinkou ultimately influenced him and made him promise his parents to be a role model Shinigami and pushed him to seek out how to become a Shinigami, leading him to join the Academy, hoping to learn the skills necessary to protect Soul Society.

Tenured as an Academy Student, Kiyobu was moulded quickly into being dutiful and striving to be a good student, supported by his teachers' teachings. Most of his free time in the Academy is consumed by gathering information and the rules of Seireitei and all that it encompasses, so he can simultaneously learn all the loopholes around the rules and enforce them while staying true to his purpose.

Notable Features: Donning the Academy Uniform, Kiyobu stands out as a Student among the many Shinigami in Seireitei. He has lush, brunette hair and ocean blue eyes. However, this isn’t what makes him noticeable from the rest that fit a similar description. He also has a parted choker that frames his throat; whether it will remain just an accessory or something more he intends to do with it later is up for his creative mind to process.
Personality: Kiyobu’s main pastimes are practising Zanjutsu, playing chess and meditating. Because of his talent in chess, he was commonly found in the Lush Forest in District 1, a few blocks away from his own home, challenging older people in nearby parks. His love for chess had developed more in his younger years as it complimented his meditation, with the patience of each move being carefully calculated, planned and executed. The slightest lapse in concentration could lose a pawn, or an overly aggressive action could lead to a checkmate for the opposing player. Chess helped to train his mind to reach a deeper state of relaxation, making it easier for him to connect with his deeper self with a clearer mind. Later in his life and in the Academy, even to his chagrin, it is the same technique he uses in an attempt to open a connection to his Inner World and Zanpakuto Spirit.

Born in District 1 and in a household that could trace its ancestry and clan back centuries, Kiyobu was brought up with aristocratic values—shaping his blue-blooded mannerisms. He is humble with a soft-spoken demeanour that belies his warrior prowess. He is also loyal and dedicated; during his time in the Academy, he grew to deeply respect Shinigami and the more significant role they played in protecting Soul Society. Despite this, he still possesses a dry sense of humour and sarcastic wit as part of his charm, and he’s naturally defiant with a touch of cynicism.

Coming from an old clan with history does not without its traditions and scriptures, which he abides by even if they come incompatible with situations he may be presented with within his future, obstacles he will come to pass when the time is right. Called the Kouken Shinkou (‘規約信仰’, “Guardian Creed”) are a set of rules and tenets written in a time by the founders of his Clan aeons back when chaos reigned rampantly. It has evolved for centuries and applied to all members of his family. Among the precepts of the Code was a rule forbidding the killing of anyone unarmed and seeking revenge. The scripture also emphasises compassion as an essential aspect of his life, teaching that all lives are precious.
If you define yourself by the power to take life, the desire to dominate, to possess…then you have nothing.”—Kiyobu Kouken

All in all, Kiyobu is a gentle-natured soul who is compassionate, and with the upbringing with the Kouken Shinkou (‘規約信仰’, “Guardian Creed”) helps keep him astray from negative emotions that estranged Shinigami in the past to evil, like Kaname Tōsen for example. Because of this and his promise to be a role model, Shinigami, that protects Soul Society, he was not merry and spoke little growing up, though he learned to talk early and seemed older than his years. His ability to play Chess at a very high level is also attributed to his intelligence and strategic mind, always appearing ahead of people his age. He turns to the pursuit of justice for peace, prosperity and the greater good, wanting to be there for the people if something wrong happens and enforce the law. One of the odes to his just and compassionate personality is in the Academy. He is known for peacefully diffusing conflicts and arguments with words before disagreements become more severe, and bullying occurs.

Reiryoku Level: Immense Spiritual Power Reiryoku Control: Novice Control
Coming into the world of Soul Society, and together with his name is his tremendous amount of reiryoku. He speculates ever since he could remember during his meditations, he always sensed it and described himself to be in a sizeable archaic hallway with no end, extending itself as far as the eye could see and as far as one might go. Over time as he became more in tune with himself and during meditation, he felt like he had an out-of-body experience. It was as if his spirit were suspended in the cosmos, floating, entirely under the control of its influence. Willful and predetermined though he felt, he felt every action of his own was governed not from within but from without. Like a float tossed about in an endless sea. Upon this realisation, Kiyobu felt he was insignificant to the font of power inside himself and concluded he wouldn't be able to control it if left unchecked. This further supplemented his desire to join the Academy to seek how to reign himself in. Kiyobu believes that if he did not have the habit of meditating daily in his day-to-day life, it would’ve consumed him if no one intervened.

In the Academy, Kiyobu has learned the basics of controlling his power. He showed quite a natural affinity for it, as he was unknowingly doing it for years with some degree of success which aided in masking his power, albeit not entirely, as it grew to seep out of him more and more over time. But enough to go unnoticed for some time. Regardless, he is known to be a Novice; still, he expressed a great deal of patience and acceptance and agreed that it would take a great deal of time to tame its current unyielding nature.
Sensing Reiryoku: Basic
There's not much to say here, but regardless of his reiryoku, his capabilities are currently limited to detecting and locating the likes of Pluses, Jibakurei, Tsukirei, standard Hollows, and basic Souls and low-seated Shinigami. He hopes that after becoming a Shinigami, his senses will improve over time, and he will learn various sensing techniques to aid him in pursuit and combat.

Reiatsu: Specialist
Having received some formal training during the Academy, Kiyobu’s reiatsu has only very recently become more manageable for him. Very new and recent, he only just barely considers himself a specialist. Because of the amount of Reiryoku he has, it fluctuates wildly and acts as a window to his soul or internal feelings. Years and years of meditation have helped keep it tamer, and he feels confident in being able to contain himself to remain hidden when necessary. Otherwise, it does occasionally leak out of him. When forcefully exerted, depending on the level, from a low seated Shinigami to an Immense level, Kiyobu’s Reiatsu feels heavy, imposing and cold. The heavy feeling remains stagnant and does not change, corresponding to how much he releases.

Reiatsu Appearance: White & Blue Outline Reiatsu Shape: Amorphous
Without a clearly defined shape or form, Kiyobu’s reiatsu emits wildly. There comes a period after exerting himself for extended periods during training when it looks to try to shape itself but quickly recedes into its formless wild mass. During arduous training sessions with Nana Nokoribi, she has stated that his reiatsu could take shape when he unlocks his Zanpakuto.

The colour of his Reiatsu is predominantly white with a blue outline glow.

Zanjutsu Level: Expert Swordsman
Each student has a motivation and mindset behind choosing their preferred specialisation. For Kiyobu, the art of Zanjutsu was appealing, and Kiyobu would go on in his years in the Academy to be considered top of his class.

Since entering the Academy and holding his Asauchi for the first time, Kiyobu was immediately drawn to it and the art of swordsmanship. His insatiable hunger for training in the art of swordsmanship led him to favour Nana Nokoribi more and more as a teacher and try to squeeze into her lessons more. He was even going as far as to approach other students who wanted to participate in other combat areas in the later years of the Academy, ultimately swapping some of his Kidō lessons for more Zanjutsu lessons. As time passed, Kiyobu’s ability with the sword greatly improved.

His family’s name and personal goal greatly define him to become a role-model Shinigami, and a great defender of Soul Society. Kiyobu began investigating and refining his teachings received by Nana with the best defensive capabilities that would ultimately keep him and the ones he loved protected most effectively. His studies and training led him to Iaijutsu (居合術), a style of swordsmanship that involves quick, precise draws from the sheathe, striking the opponent, and removing blood from the sword before re-sheathing. It is a form of Zanjutsu specialising in counter-attacks and less aggression. His Iaijutsu is made more powerful by incorporating his reiatsu, developing a personalised style called the Kagentsu (‘下弦月’, “Waning Crescent Moon”). When his Asauchi is still unsheathed, Kiyobu also often uses the scabbard as a weapon for blunt strikes or to block an enemy's attack. Due to his style, Kiyobu commonly wields his blade with one hand, holding the scabbard with the other. Inspired by Nana’s swordsmanship with her duel-wielding Zanjutsu, it is clear she had a significant influence on his growth. Kagentsu is something still very new to Kiyobu. It’s a project he seeks to perfect, whereby Iaijutsu (居合術) is seen as just a counter-attack form of combat, Kiyobu seeks to refine, grow and evolve, perfecting it into the art of defence.

His Zanjutsu training focuses on using tight blade work to defend himself. Deflect, block and riposte strikes or projectiles, and allow him to protect himself from multiple incoming attacks simultaneously. He has honed his ability with his sword for it to practically wield it as if it were an extension of his hands. He can deliver skilful and accurate strikes to weak points with great precision, cutting only precisely what he wants. His skill and efficiency in Iaijutsu allow him to draw his sword and cut his opponent in successful quick strikes before resheathing his weapon, so much so that he’s capable of timing his resheathing precisely the moment the cuts become visible. Kiyobu—while seemingly effortlessly—can imbue his Reiatsu, subconsciously using an iota of his Zanpakuto’s power to fuel more powerful strikes. The scarring marks of each strike leave behind ghostly blue markings, which non-vigorously combust in his Reiatsu to further push away each side of the thing being separated. Enhancing his cutting power and leading him to sever things otherwise considered too dense to cut through, such as higher seated Shinigami and higher tiered Hollows.

Additional skills he possesses with the sword include projecting his Reiatsu from his blade to send out a slice that cuts through the air and dense objects like Steel, Rock Formations, etc.—making for a solid, far-reaching blow. The same is said if he were to stab with his sword, focusing his Reiatsu into a single piercing stab like an immaterial bullet.

Over time with who Kiyobu fundamentally is, and although he is capable of aggression, the way he orchestrates his blade is more defensively. A symbol and characteristic of his part-pacifistic nature. This kind of zanjutsu taught him that there is strength and nobility in restraint. Nana has critiqued his way of the sword and how she interpreted it, saying that it lacks aggression. Both Nana and Kiyobu carry differing philosophies on the blade. Still, despite their differences, he strives to be a good student and be her favourite from his graduating class in his final year.
Known Skills:
Hohō Level:
Shunpo Practitioner
Learning the basics of Hohō, Kiyobu invested time in his training to be as fast as someone labelled as a practitioner. As he trained arduously in Zanjutsu, he was also required to work on his body endurance and stamina. The by-product of all this training was his increase in speed and footwork, helping him close gaps quicker in Shunpo. Self admittingly, this was not his focus in the Academy, so his speed could very well be outmatched by peers who spend more time refining and sharpening their skills in Shunpo. But it is a later goal for him to focus on as a Shinigami.
Known Skills: Shunpo
Hakuda Level: Novice
Although still regarded as only a Novice, Kiyobu does supplement his Zanjutsu with unarmed hand-to-hand combat training should he ever be in a situation disarmed from using his sword. Initially very clumsy and awkward with his hands, Kiyobu eventually learned basic martial art techniques of correctly positioning himself when throwing a punch, dodging and the necessary footwork required to add more force to his blows. With time in the Academy, he learned to weave his Reiatsu to empower his punches.

While maintaining a reasonable attendance rate for each lesson throughout the years, a result of learning Hakuda gave him a high degree of acrobatics and strengthened his body. Characteristics of his Zanjutsu loans from.
Known Skills: -
Kidō Skill Level: Novice
The least practised, and knowledgeable skill Kiyobu has. He sacrificed Kidō the most for advancement in Zanjutsu. Does he regret it? No. Kiyobu never showed much interest in learning spells and would jump at the opportunity to find a loophole and not attend a class if it could mean he got to spend more time in the training dojo with his sword.

Of course, Kiyobu did learn enough. The bare minimum he requires to pass the class.
Known Spells: -
Skills and Abilities:
Kagentsu
(‘下弦月’, “Waning Crescent Moon”)
A new style of Zanjutsu was created and is still in its very early stages, essentially a more powerful version of Iaijutsu (居合術) by incorporating his reiatsu. He can empower each strike to exceed what is typically expected from his level.

Zanpakuto Name: Namahage (生剥; “Fire Rash Peeling”) (NOT YET OBTAINED IN RP)
Zanpakuto Appearance:
Kiyobu’s zanpakuto is a Katana of slightly longer length. Their Tsukamaki handle has a pattern closer to a real katana, giving it the traditional diamond shape in the negative space. The tsuba/handguard is gold and a deep navy blue, shaped like an octagon with two trapezoidal halves, the gold Habaki/fuller is also the same. The Hamon featured is a Kawazuko Choji or tadpole head clove-styled Hamon similar to those found on blades historically made by real-life Osafune Nagamitsu. The edge has also been given prominent temper lines. The scabbard is onyx blue, made of traditional lacquered wood, and features several metallic ornaments on its far end.

Zanpakuto Spirit: She is seen as an exquisite and gentle woman, embodying the principles of the ideal Japanese woman: "Yamato Nadeshiko". However, underneath her calm atmosphere, Namahage is a manipulative and vicious sadist who lacks empathy for people she deems weak. Her thoughts on Kiyobu are just that. She dissents from his compassionate nature and views that all lives are precious. She believes his avoidance of conflict is a weakness, which will only result in his stagnation, decline and death as much as she enjoys the thought of toying with him, putting him through pain emotionally and physically. Deep down, she genuinely cares for him but wants him to earn her respect. Until then, she gets pleasure in agonising him. Namahage is Kiyobu’s opposite, representing the iota of doubt in his mind, with him being the way he is.
1169cb9cfbd73b03fb9356fef907b94a.png

Inner World: Kiyobu’s inner world appears geographically positioned on a mountain above the clouds and against the night sky. In the black heavens above, roads of fire in the colour of Namahage’s flames dance and flicker like auroras. On this mountain is a citadel at the centre with the single largest structure—a pagoda—towering amongst the walls and lesser buildings which are surrounded and dotted by other buildings in the architecture of the Edo-style period. All these buildings seem to have lights on or appear to be inhabited, but this is not true. Every door is locked. The main road goes over a large bridge leading up to the citadel's gates at the Pagoda’s entrance, and the only distinguishable avenue one will instinctively follow. It is in this Pagoda that Namahage resides quietly, awaiting Kiyobu’s arrival without giving him any welcome. Hints and gestures of chuckles and eerie laughter echo from the building, as if Namahage is watching or could feel his presence, entertained by wondering if he’ll make it this time. When Kiyobu enters the world, it’s always on the main bridge and cold enough that it pierces his clothes and the flesh–down to the bone. This world is like a continuous nightmare. He’s immediately affected by the cold and, in complete confusion, cannot make it across the bridge before he’s reeled back to the real world.

Release Phrase:Consume, Namahage.
1f228333b232ab089127eab4bb2b1cbb.png

Shikai: When released, Namahage’s blades transform into a chokutō. The steelwork appears as if it’s fallen below freezing, the black steel being a motif for necrosis while the edge appears as blue steel. Diamond holes are dotted along the top of the blade, acting like exhaust vents for his power. His Shikai drains the warmth and heat to create an increasingly cold environment by exposing its unique properties to its surroundings.

Shikai Special Ability: Namahage's unique ability produces what appears to be pale blue flames. Contrary to conventional flame and a fire-type zanpakuto, the reaction is not vigorous and releases no heat—but instead cold—feeling colder the closer one draws to them.

Shiranui (不知火, “Unknown Fire”) is the name of its power, the ghostly flames consuming the heat of not only the surrounding area to fuel it but those it comes into contact with as well, robbing them of their warmth and heat as if desperately trying to obtain a warmth for itself that will never come. Those touched or consumed by these flames find their body or, instead, that area on their body colder, rigid and almost solid as the flesh and tissue discolours and freezes over, the flesh quickly turning black as the flesh and tissue die from necrosis. It is believed that even after minor contact with the flames, it still takes time for the warmth to return to their body and for the hardened tissue to soften back after distancing themselves from them.

⦿ Some characteristics of Kiyobu draw inspiration from Kaname Tōsen, without him being evil.
⦿ The Kouken Family has been around since before the dawn of the Seireitei, small and keeping to their traditions. They managed to survive and live on to the present day, maintaining a lot of old money they do not go around showing.
⦿ His theme song, as chosen by me, is "The Score" by Enemies

Personal Relationships:
Nana Nokoribi:
It isn’t unusual for her name to stand out among his relationships with teachers in the Academy. Kiyobu has spent the most hours training with Nana—growing to respect her—to hone his Zanjutsu deeply and help him excel in his learning.

It was because of Nana that he set such high expectations of himself—and learned his place in the greater scheme of things within Seireitei—to hope to be no less than her skill in Zanjutsu one day. Kiyobu appreciates her, and although they share differing thoughts on his personalised style of Zanjutsu—he’s more defensive—he loves to jest her about it charmingly.

There’s no doubt that Kiyobu experienced the most character growth in their lessons together.

Shinjō Matsunaga: Kiyobu first met Shinjō when he was very young. Their relationship as brothers was rocky, but the two soon grew to see each other as siblings nonetheless. He often clashed with Shinjō for his frequent disobedience and lack of display of respect for the family he came into. However, because of Kiyobu's compassionate nature, he always secretly defended Shinjō at every turn and made Shinjō's mistakes his own.

At some point during their time together in the Academy, Kiyobu secretly experienced his own form of jealousy when he noticed his brother excelling in all schools of combat. Giving him more of a competitive reason to at least best him in the area he loved above all else—Zanjutsu—he ruminates in besting his brother out of joy. Shinjō being the only family inside Seireitei that Kiyobu has, he hopes that their relationship won't strain too far and that there's still a possibility of mending things.

While early on in the Academy, he did experience feelings of jealousy. Lately, these feelings appear to be subsiding as he has become more confident. Having no qualms about sacrificing other schools of combat to further his ability with the sword to exceed his brother's.

Notable Features:
A beautiful, elegant woman with an easy smile. Sometimes called “Snow-white’s red apple” due to her white hair and striking red eyes, people also comment on her rice hat draped with translucent curtains. It only adds to the air of mystery surrounding Kisara. She’s always seen side-sitting on her Zanpakutō like it’s a witch’s floating broomstick.

Personality:
Kisara tests the waters before diving in. Understanding everyone around her - friend or foe - starts with observation. While most will perceive her as an introverted woman, they will quickly change their minds once she starts to talk. Her natural charisma and wit are endearing - one can get lost in her eyes talking about themselves but not learn a single thing about her. She’s interested in anything and everything and never tires of fair-weather conversation. Easy to talk to, approachable, and calm, it is no surprise that most succumb to her nature and become comfortable in her presence.

Beyond that, Kisara is an individual who will fearlessly speak her mind. For instance, she despises problem-solving tactics wherein the middle ground does not exist. She is a woman who believes in compromises and thinks harshly of others who are closed-minded and unwilling to let go of tradition. Law and order will maintain a society, yes, but what happens when the very rules set in stone become the undoing of a civilization? Mistakes happen. Shinigami have the rest of their lives to correct those mistakes. Honoring tradition may only perpetuate it.
Everyone has a use for her. One of her selling points as a competent Shinigami is her ability to work seamlessly in a team. As a natural people person, Kisara can see the best in others and draw it out. Her dauntless disposition toward failure and mistakes make it easy to follow her lead - one can put their faith in her and know she will see it through. Furthermore, she will find a purpose for everyone she meets on the battlefield and off the battlefield. This means that she is not one to doubt people’s abilities, choosing to place trust in them wholeheartedly to do their part.

Kisara is an open book, but that doesn’t make her vulnerable. She loves this world; she loves meeting new people and experiencing new things. Because she is kind, Kisara is also cruel. Naïvety can mean death. Unbending loyalty can make one blind. Love without hatred is a dull, useless blade: threatening the fragile world with melodrama and childishness will force Kisara’s hand.

Reiryoku Level: Immense
A large well of spiritual power at her disposal, it is often compared to an insatiable, never-ending abyss. Like the sky at twilight, her spiritual power is vast and captivating.

The nature of her reiryoku is unassuming - it blends in with the crowd, as Kisara always adjusts it to match the crowd’s average. For something so impending, it creeps up on her enemies. It’s like a whisper. They overlook her, thinking she’s mere cattle for the killing - an unwise decision, as the whisper crescendos into a symphony.
Living in the Northern 80th District, her life depended on being unnoticeable. When she was alone, all she could do to ensure she would see another day was to hide. It was difficult, at first - a path of destruction would follow her, and the best she could do was to place a lid on a storm in a bottle as best as she can. Kisara eventually got better at managing and maintaining it, of course.

To let go of the control she exerts over her reiryoku would be to the benefit of no one; she would actively harm everything and anyone around her. The slightest slip of her reiatsu from her command can force someone on their knees before her. So it is why she keeps it quiet: Kisara is no longer a storm, but the entire night sky shoved in a glass bottle. She maintains and undersells herself for reasons other than reconnaissance.

Sensing Reiryoku: Master
To Kisara, every individual has a unique “song” within their reiryokyu. Obviously, that is not the case, but a single song derived for each individual can tell Kisara many things: The volume tells her if an individual is weak or strong. The tone tells her an individual’s potential intentions. The rhythm - slow, fast, stagnant, fluctuating - tells her possible patterns in how an individual fights, down to the reiatsu released. Furthermore, she can quickly discern when an attack is coming and what kind of attack: physical, elemental, both, those that don’t fit in either category.

Nothing slips past Kisara’s senses. Because of her unique way of finding and sensing reiryoku, Kisara can easily single one person out of a large crowd, read their reiryoku down to the very connotation, and come out with an incredible analysis and theory of their capabilities in battle.

Reiryoku Control: Mastered Control
Her control over her reiryoku is the bread and butter of her techniques: muting her reiryoku, misdirecting her reiryoku to misdirect her enemies, and sensing others through “song” to theorize their potential.
When she was younger and training, controlling her spiritual pressure was a conscious effort. At her current level, Kisara can mute the effects of her reiatsu entirely and exert as much reiatsu needed for a given situation: crushing and twisting hollows as she pleases, slicing target objects into pieces, or exerting more of her reiatsu to take full advantage of the serenade effect.

Kisara can also “misdirect” her reiatsu. One of her Shunpo techniques requires her to leave traces of her reiatsu behind an after-image to fool the enemy, and she can create dozens of after-images where her reiatsu is evenly split between them.

Finally, she can lower her reiryoku to a humbler level to make her seem like an average combatant, and also conceal it altogether. Because she can “hear” her reiatsu, she can erase the trail of reiatsu by absorbing it back inside her, as if it never even existed. Suddenly, all trails leading to Kisara go cold, as if she was never there. Before her enemies even know where she is, she is already behind them, sword raised high in the air.

line break.png

Reiatsu: Master
When Kisara releases her reiatsu, it’s a performance. An array of red butterflies swirling around her like a slow dance, yet for all its beauty, the crushing weight of her reiatsu snatches all the air from her enemies lungs. Weaker, vulnerable beings who cannot protect themselves from her are immediately paralyzed and unable to move, helpless.

She despises the spectacle it creates. Kisara would prefer to fool her enemies rather than intimidate them, so that is exactly what she does. As stated previously, Kisara does have the ability to completely mute her reiryoku or lower it so she seems weaker. The same can be said about her reiatsu control: she can control the levels at which she releases her reiatsu. Purposefully, she doesn’t release all of it at once to crush her enemies. She’s come across plenty of foes who are of equal footing: in her mind, gaining the upper hand by acting weaker than she is will give her the element of surprise.

If a battle calls for it, Kisara will use her reiatsu to levitate parts of the environment to give her a vantage point, or, again, to confuse and distract the enemy. Kisara can also split her reiatsu into even sections into after-images, making it difficult to discern which one is her. Should she face weaker foes and raising her blade isn’t necessary, she will flash her reiatsu at the right amount to immediately end their lives.

Reiatsu Colors:
Crimson

Reiatsu Shape: Fluttering, red butterflies.

Reiatsu Effect(s): Serenade
The dead calm of a storm. Kisara’s reiatsu feels like a familiar tune one has heard so long ago that individuals gravitate naturally towards it, unknowingly walking into the eye of storm: It makes her victims want to lay their heads down and rest, leaving themselves vulnerable to the siren’s voice. Those who have fell victim to her reiatsu and have lived to tell the tale comment that they feel helpless but also… Unconditionally peaceful. They feel a heavy weight upon their chest - a crushing pressure - and despite being unable to move, there is tranquility.

Kisara can take advantage of the effects of her reiatsu for interrogation-like purposes.

Weaker individuals are known to twist and bend in monstrous proportions after being subjected to the effect for too long,
like the tension in a song is reaching fever-pitch.

Kisara’s parries and deflections make up the bulk of her lethal swordsmanship. The nature of her Zanpakutō allows her for prolonged battles up close and personal.

ezgif-1-303a97475a.gif

Every strike in her direction is quickly redirected, and in less than a millisecond she strikes back. Kisara overwhelms her opponents and often forces them to go on the defensive, even without using her Shikai. This, in part, is thanks to the refinement of her once feral swordsmanship which was honed in the academy. It took her months to understand why her teachers insisted she tame her fighting style, but without technique, Kisara was just some lunatic swinging a sword around. Discipline allowed Kisara further control in battle - there is a rhythm and song in battle.

Furthermore, each strike, swing, and thrust have an incredible reach. It certainly helps that Tasogare Musume is an odachi boasting in length, but Kisara takes it a step further by using her Zanpakutō from blade to pommel, a personalized technique she calls Museigen (無制限, Unlimited). The idea behind it is to use her Zanpakutō from the tip of the blade all the way to the pommel, extending the reach and the overall area of the arc of her slashes. She wanted to be able to grip her Zanpakutō by the pommel using just the tip of her fingers, ensuring an unlimited reach. She settled for placing reiatsu at the tips of her fingers and on her Zanpakutō, and like a magnetic force, allowed her to “grip” her Zanpakutō with just her fingertips. And then she took it a step further by using her feet to the tips of her toes.

Her flexibility, reach, and overwhelming attacks can send weaker foes flying, and the pure strength behind each purposeful strike can slice her enemies like butter.

Known Techniques: Museigen, Enhanced Senmaioroshi (her Shikai allows her to do an enhanced version by speeding up her tempo), Hitotsume: Nadegiri

Hohō Level: Master
When speaking about Kisara, Shinigami often say: “You’ll feel her blade before you even see her.” Crossing vast distances in little to few steps paired with Kisara’s unassuming presence is a deadly combination: Kisara can “mute” her reiryoku, making it impossible to detect her, and before her enemies know it, she’s appeared behind them after her blade has slashed their being. The pain or the blood doesn’t register until seconds after, and by then it’s already too late: they’re dead.

f5e2297e4202fdb49356b6b3e110b83c.gif

Perhaps that’s what makes her so deadly: the laws of time seem to break when she fights. It’s almost like she moves ahead of time, and time has to catch up to her. Even worse for enemies who engage her, it’s near impossible to locate her with how fast she moves. Paired with her muting her reiryoku, they have no idea where she is. Blinking is life or death: Kisara can use that millisecond of darkness to appear behind, on top, or under. If she’s feeling particularly playful, she’ll be nice and let them get a hit… Or so they think.

Kisara leaves behind a shadow - a "resonance", in her words. Like a slightly more advanced speedclone, she delegates an afterimage with her reiatsu, using it to misdirect and confuse her opponents. Because of her expert reiatsu emissions, Kisara can make her afterimages appear real. The amount of resonances Kisara leaves behind is not limited to one; she can leave behind many after images due to her sheer speed. Overlapping images weaved together makes it difficult to target Kisara.

Known Techniques: Senka, Utsusemi, Speedclones

line break.png

Hakuda Level: Combatant
Flexible and acrobatic, Kisara’s high, powerful kicks can knock her enemies unconscious. Because of her flexibility, Kisara has a wide range of motion when reaching. Though she’s not one to grapple, when coming to blows, Kisara can shatter bones.

Growing up in the 80th district of Rukongai, dirty fighting was a language Kisara spoke fluently. When facing opponents that exceed her weight class, Kisara won’t hesitate to gauge eyes, strike her elbow into the back of the neck, knee someone in the gut, punch someone in the throat, stomp someone’s crotch, and the list goes on.
Excelling in Kido, if ever forced to fight hand-to-hand, Kisara would combine Hakuda techniques and Kido spells.

The bandages she dons on her legs are not for show: with expert twists and flicks of her calves, she can unwind them instantaneously from her legs and use them to grab and trap her opponents. Because of their high durability and strength, it is near impossible to break them. Their main purpose is to forcibly drag her opponents where she needs them to be. Too tall and she can't reach? A bandage around their neck, yanked downwards to meet her knee. Trying to slip away from her? Easy. A bandage around their calves, a rough pull, and they're down on the ground before her. Kisara also uses the bandages to attach to her Zanpakutō to extend its reach.

Known Techniques: Panty-flash Tornado, Oni Dekopin

Kido Skill Level: Master
Kisara takes full advantage of Kido in battle. Lower-scale spells are utterly devastating when cast by Kisara due to the sheer depths of her reiryoku. When up close and personal while engaging an enemy, Kisara will quietly summon spells without word or warning, becoming an even more unpredictable fighter.

Her spellcasting is so instantaneous that she can rapid-fire hard-hitting Hadō like a machine gun - furthermore, her spells have been enhanced to act like homing missiles, in which they follow and chase after targets with deadly speed.

Weaving spells together takes time to practice and perfect, but because she uses Kido to utilize where her kit falls weak, Kisara becomes an unstoppable force with, seemingly, a solution for everything. Kisara likes to experiment; she can layer 4-5 spells without breaking a sweat to get the desired reaction she seeks.

Her most stand-out skill in Kido is Bakudō. In particular, immobilizing spells that can target speedy enemies are a must-have. On the occasion that someone is faster than her, a girl has to have a backup plan, right? To ensure that they will be ensnared, her homing missile technique is particularly handy - but she also utilizes Bakudō to trap her enemies. By manipulating the environment with various spells that could trap, immobilize, or hinder her enemies, Kisara has molded the battlefield to be a vantage point for her and her allies. Kisara's area of effect is large: the breadth of her Bakudō spells that specify in trapping enemies have an incredible reach.

With her Shikai utilized, Kisara’s spells can reach breakneck speed - the difficulty comes in knowing when they land. Less than a second is the maximum time window she will allow.

Known Spells:
Combined spells:
Bakudo #8. Seki + Bakudo #81. Danku: She creates a large area of effect barrier that reflects oncoming attacks. She calls it “Mirror Shield”. She also uses it for mobility, bouncing off of them when necessary.
68747470733a2f2f73332e616d617a6f6e6177732e636f6d2f776174747061642d6d656469612d736572766963652f...gif

Bakudō #63. Sajō Sabaku + Bakudō #37. Tsuriboshi: Like a spiderweb looking for foolish flies, this intricate, vast spell is meant for faster enemies that can somehow outpace Kisara. Rather than a flat, elastic cushion in the center, a bundle of golden chains wounds itself tightly. Anyone caught in its outer arms will be quickly ensnared.

Enhanced spells:
Hadō #32. Ōkasen: Raising their Zanpakutō horizontally in front of them, the practitioner generates a yellow orb, which widens itself along the length of their sword. Once it is fully charged, it fires a wide, horizontal arc of yellow energy at the target. Because this is produced from the Zanpakutō, Kisara can rapidly release arcs at blinding speeds.

Main spells:
Bakudo #61. Rikujōkōrō: Pointing his/her index finger at the target, the practitioner generates a spark of yellow energy, which summons six thin, wide beams of light that slam into a target's midsection and hold them in place. The target is unable to move any part of their body, including the parts which were not struck by the beams. This technique can be used after using Bakudō #4. Hainawa because the six beams of light form from the light already created by Bakudō #4. Hainawa.

Bakudō #73. Tozanshō: As the spell ignites at a single point, blue energy extends upward to four points and forms an inverted pyramid, which solidifies into a barrier around the caster. The spell is usable around other already active spells. It can be used to trap others inside of it.

Hadō #57. Daichi Tenyō: The practitioner thrusts their hands outward, causing objects around them to levitate and throwing them toward the destination which the wielder chooses. The technique is precise enough to counter opposing flying objects.

Skills and Abilities:
✦ Strategist and Leader
Kisara is a highly effective leader when faced with high-pressure, high-stakes situations. Even if her allies are considerably weaker, she always says, “There is a use for everyone.” Kisara will utilize creative, on-the-spot planning to combat trials and dangers. Her calm, confident aura inspires others to be confident in themselves and heightens their awareness, all the while lowering their anxiety. She takes full advantage of her Zanpakutō ability by speed boosting her allies, as well.

✦ Musician
Kisara loves music. She is a talented shamisen, shakuhachi, and violin player. She is eager to learn more instruments if time allows.

✦ Acute sense of hearing
Beyond sensing reiryoku and reiatsu, Kisara can hear the slightest of sounds. Amplitude threshold and frequency range, even the slightest whispers do not go unnoticed.

✦ Emotional Intelligence
Understanding those around her is second nature. Even the faintest shifts in moods cannot hide from her. Thankfully, Kisara isn't one to push and pry - she knows her place when it comes to the fragility of the heart. She will offer a shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen to, and her words for advice.

equipment.png

Equipment:
✦ Denreishinki
Kisara requested that her Denreishinki be suited for high-combat scenarios where she is required to access it, but her hands would quite literally be full. It's highly sensitive to her voice... And also really cute, decorated with a butterfly charm.

✦ Gigai + Gikon
Her gigai has the personality of Ginnosuke, the sly cat.

✦ Kikanshinki
Memory substitution device.

✦ Curtained rice hat
The drapes that fall from Kisara's rice hat smell faintly of rosewater.

✦ Durable bandages
Used for seizing her opponents.

Inventions:
Museigen, Mirror Shield

zanpakuto.png

Zanpakutō Name:
Tasogare Musume (黄昏の娘, Twilight Daughter)

Zanpakutō Appearance:
Like her eyes, her Zanpakutō is haunting and beautiful: a stark, glinting red odachi with a straight blade that achieves 35 inches in length. From above the hilt, the scabbard has a thin, red braided rope that hangs loosely until it is secured tightly to the middle of the scabbard. Tied neatly into a ribbon, one of the ribbons has a white flower attached to the end. The cord wrap is the same color, with the inner diamonds white. At the pommel, another thin, braided rope falls with a red jewel knotted at the end. Furthermore, the blade is a shade of magenta, a color found between red and purple. When the sun meets the horizon, the blade shimmers, basking in twilight’s glow.

Tasogare Musume is a sharp blade; as such, so is the spirit residing within. She is silver-tongued and crafty, often judging Kisara’s strategies in battle. That isn’t to say she is unkind. She is just viciously outspoken, quick to the draw, and always demanding to have the last word.

Inner World:
A field of flowers at twilight. Littered amongst this brilliant meadow are open cages, where her stark red butterflies sleep. It is only when Tasogare Musume and Kisara cross blades do those butterflies awaken and dance around them. The ground beneath the flowers is water that one can stand on; it reflects the stars above, almost as if one is walking above the stars. Every move in this world creates an ubiquitous melody, melting together into a beautiful, familiar song.

Release Phrase: “Silence their song: Tasogare Musume.”
Kisara holds a finger to her lips as if asking for someone to be quiet.

shikai.png

Shikai:
Once transformed, the length of Tasogare Musume elongates to 88 inches. The Zanpakutō takes on a mesmerizing scarlet color, with the ha (edge) eternally glowing magenta. The smolder ripples off the blade like fire.

Shikai Special Ability:
Anything her Zanpakutō touches, be it solid, liquid, or gas, as well as abilities, is at the mercy of the rhythm of her song:

Prestissimo Shunji refers to the fastest tempo in music, with shunji meaning “instant”. The victim(s) of this ability is forced to confront a speed that is outlandish to control that they will fall helpless to the rhythm, with a tendency to gracelessly smash through whatever is in their way. Kisara also uses this ability to strengthen the blows of her sword, enabling her to deliver critical hits that could smash and splinter bones and send her victims flying.
By speeding up her blade, Kisara can project blades of wind as well.

Pianissimo Senkō refers to the command to play very softly, with senkō meaning "flash". Once touched by her Zanpakutō, the strength of her opponent's attack is lulled to a "whisper". Kisara can negate potent, powerful attacks and scale them to a lull, ensuring that she comes out scarcely unscathed or damaged. It is particularly effective up close and personal when clashing blades, allowing Kisara to completely overpower and overwhelm her enemies.

Harmonic Dissonance brings Tasogare Musume to the stage. Unseen and unheard, Tasogare Musume copies every sword swing Kisara delivers from behind her. An invincible force, every swing of Kisara's blade can happen twice instantaneously or it can be delayed.
The effects of Prestissimo Shunji and Pianissimo Senkō do not apply on the second swing.

Tempo, dynamics, and texture respectively. The names of the abilities are not a spoken command - they can come into effect without saying their names.

bankai.png

Bankai:
"Tasogare Musume no Nemureru Kōkyōkyoku." (Twilight Daughter's Sleeping Symphony.)
Kisara holds her blade horizontally and places her free palm upon the blade.

Bankai Special Ability:
Quite literally a string orchestra, the surrounding area is suddenly filled with tightly wound, red strings formed at harsh angles. These strings do not need a surface to be able to function. Each string is connected to the blade of her Zanpakutō; Kisara poises her blade as if it was a violin bow. Interestingly, every stroke of her blade plays a note. It entices into a beautiful song, an enraptured melody unique to every individual she fights...

The strings hold the same ability as her shikai: should her opponents touch the strings, Kisara is able to use Prestissimo Shunji, Pianissimo Senkō, and Harmonic Dissonance against them when Kisara plucks the respective string attached to her blade. The effects of the first two are the same, but Harmonic Dissonance now is able to add a second attack away from Kisara.

Kisara can position herself on the strings and move about freely.

Dusk Vigil Metamorphosis (夕暮れ時の変成; Yūgure-ji no hensei) commands all the strings to move simultaneously, changing their positions with a swing of Kisara's sword. The tune changes to a different pitch entirely, creating a new song for Kisara to play. Dusk Vigil Metamorphosis is not an instantaneous change - the strings visibly move to new positions all at once, forcing her opponents to navigate a new, unpredictable spiderweb.

Dawn Butterfly Cadenza (夜明けの蝶カデンツァ; Yoake no chō kadentsu~a) is a freestyle soloist piece. Kisara draws her blade like she's playing the violin to fabricate a fast-paced, heart-racing song. The strings close in on her opponents, chasing after them with desperation. The faster Kisara plays, the faster the strings move. She can also use these strings to surround her as a circle of protection.

Personal Relationships:
Musashi Takeshi [Badger-sama#6812]
It’s complicated. Kisara completely abandoned him in her grief, and she feels guilty for moving forward without him. Perhaps it was necessary so both of them can grow as individuals. One day, she hopes they can reconnect and speak about the loss they both shared. He still means a lot to her.

Kisara is often playing her shamisen during her free time. The 13th Division officers note that the music is tranquil and benign, unwinding their stress after a long training session.
Other than playing instruments and composing, Kisara enjoys cooking. Her expeditions to the World of the Living have developed her taste for food. Kisara cooks for her Division when she can, and is known to bring back souvenirs for the officers.

Biography:

SOULBORN
The Black Tiger of the 80th district, Kenshin Juzo, took pity on a small, frail girl left to starve in the summer rain. Mercy was never in his vocabulary until that day. In the quiet of the rain, Kenshin held out his bloodied hand, and that was where Kisara’s life began.

80th DISTRICT
What she knew about herself was this: her name is Kisara Reizei. Her older sister, Kirari, was caught in the crossfire of a vicious battle and died. On her back was all she owned: a tattered white kimono, muddied at the edges. Before meeting Kenshin, Kisara would hide. A trail of destruction from her untamed reiatsu followed her, though she didn’t know that was the case at the time.

Kenshin Juzo garnered a reputation of glory and gore. It would be difficult to miss him in a crowd: towering over most with a heavily scarred body and an unending glare. The nickname was given to him due to two scars on his face that are akin to a tiger’s stripes.

A black-hearted criminal in a district of sinners, Kenshin would corner anyone and everyone, beat them bloody or even kill them. Leave them for the vultures, he’d say. It was only when Kisara started to accompany him that he began looting their bodies for valuables. The kindness he showed her outmatched the blood on his hands; she was not scared of him. He fed her, protected her. Kisara began calling him jiji (grandfather) much to his chagrin.

Kenshin’s first gift to her: a shakuhachi (flute). He made it from bamboo and a delicate piece of bone inserted at the edge. Kisara took to it immediately, delighted to learn the wind instrument. Music became a pastime, then a hobby, then a talent.

One day, as he was looting corpses for food, young Kisara asked him why he does what he does. “Do you love to fight?” Kisara asked him. Kenshin held her tiny hand and smiled down at her.

“Of course,” his voice was tender and sweet, so unlike the monster he becomes in battle. “Never wield your sword with hatred. You become something you are not; to kill and die less than yourself… You might as well kneel and carve out your own stomach.”

He didn’t say anything else. Kenshin held out his hand. Upon his palm laid dried nectarines, and it was enough to fill her stomach. She remembers the sweetness of the fruit, and the sadness in his eyes when he took her shoulders and kneeled to speak to her.

“From hereon, Kisara, I’m going to teach you how to stay alive.”

Kenshin’s second gift to her: an Asauchi, one of the many blades in his collection of stolen weapons. Under Kenshin’s tutelage, Kisara would learn what the hunger in her belly meant. What kind of future awaited her. That insatiable, roaring thirst that demanded more meant she had reiryoku, and he taught her how to understand it rather than fear it. Kenshin, too, knew the feeling of starvation and helplessness. While he had an adequate amount of reiryoku, his was a firefly compared to the sun that was Kisara’s.

Whenever she wanted to hide, he told her to close her eyes and drown all the sounds out of the world. He told her that to control it, she must think of it as blowing into the flute. Her reiatsu was always fluctuating, indecisive, and fickle. Like it was at full volume, or at a whisper, or at a speaking tone…

“Just like this,” he instructed, cupping his large hands over her ears. When the world drowned in silence, Kisara finally understood and quieted her reiatsu. Soon after, Tasogare Musume would invade her dreams.

Kenshin would take another young prodigy under his wing by the name of Musashi Takeshi, after Kisara had found him crying, hungry and alone in Rukongai. Their little makeshift family would unfortunately come to an end as Kenshin’s sins caught up to him.

Under the pride of two overzealous, arrogant 7th Division Shinigami, they gathered all of Kenshin’s enemies to overpower him and eventually kill him. In their eyes, mongrels like the residents of the 80th District of North Rukongai are a stain on the Soul Society’s perfect ledger. Kenshin’s reputation of ceaseless violence only proved to them as such.

Kisara lost her senses, her reiatsu emissions felt far and wide. 7th Division officers would arrive later to find the two Shinigami beaten beyond repair, and a pile of corpses laid round. Two kids, bloody with gore, their spiritual pressure incredible…

The Shinigami suggested the two attend Shin’ō academy.

After fashioning a makeshift grave for Kenshin Juzo, Musashi and Kisara would offer their prayers and leave home. Her sword felt unfamiliar in her hands; it carries her shame; it carries her grief.

13th DIVISION
3 years after graduating from Shin’ō Academy, Kisara chose to work for the 13th division as per recommendation from her teachers.

The 13th Division was the perfect fit. Her skills would prove immensely useful in the fight against supernatural threats upon the human world - but that didn’t mean she was without flaws. The constant, incessant combat scenarios forced Kisara to think on her feet and hone her skills. It was a massive wake-up call from the Academy that praised her abilities. She would know the pain all over her body like never before, her limits pushed beyond the threshold.

Kisara buried herself in her work. It masked the grief that left a void in her heart, distracting her from the agony. Blind, she could only see her own pain and avoided her childhood best friend, Musashi Takeshi. It’s been years since the two saw each other.

There was little time to process it; the 13th Division was without a Captain, which means they were without direction. Their only guiding light was Katsuo Toshiyuki, but he, too, was taken from the 13th. No Captain, no Lieutenant, and no rest for the wicked...

So then what?

Naturally, the power vacuum would have to solve itself - someone would have to take those roles, as symmetry and unison is essential in any military formation. And time never waits - the world kept spinning, and the threats that shook Karakura town spun too.

Thus, her time was dedicated to The World of the Living, eradicating various hollows and assisting as best as she could in combat. Word of mouth and hearsay was the only way Kisara kept up with what was happening in the Gotei 13. There were always shifts in power and blood spilled; there was never a surprise to her when she found that the Gotei 13’s greatest enemy was itself. It was politics and pride - something she didn’t have the luxury to dwell on.

Kisara would become a dependable, reliable Shinigami and ally. She is known to ease the anxieties of her fellow Shinigami in battle and uplift their confidence by drawing out the best of their abilities. She works seamlessly in a group, directing them to play their roles to overcome their opponents. Her allies would make note of her gentle nature outside of battle, seen in how she never rushes Pluses to travel to the Rukongai and only performs Konsō when ready.

Signy Hoshi's arrival in the 13th Division as their new 3rd seat was a blessing, their silver lining in the rainclouds. Her presence revitalized the 13th, and Kisara was elated to welcome her to the barracks. She would assist Signy in training the recruits, offering her experience in the World of the Living as advice. Though following Signy's orders to the T, Kisara would often share her opinions and the differing views of their Division. It is clear that Kisara is ever-grateful for Signy's presence.

Someday, she will visit Kenshin's grave and tell him all that has happened. But not yet. She will face him when she knows for certain that the life he protected was worth it.

Notable Features:
Kawa is usually seen sporting a dark cloak given to him, with unique properties. He is also known to wear a dark bamboo straw hat to match the dark veil. Underneath this cloak, Kawa wears an outfit that allows him to be mobile and fit for his activities in the Stealth Force: a black tunic that reaches just beneath the knees with colorless seams, two-legged black hakama pants, and black tai chi-styled shoes. Kawa's sleeves are often rolled up to his elbows, highlighting the muscles which he’s developed during his time training for many years. Kawa has multiple scars underneath his attire to prove the harsh training he underwent growing up, even into adulthood. His hair has grown past his shoulders as the years went by, now reaching down to his back, and is currently tied up in a simple hairband, leaving it into a ponytail. The zanpakuto he carries with the grip is made of cloth wrapped around the handle of the sword. The sword sheath is a straight black scabbard, and its minimalist form does not allow it to be tied to a sword belt.

Personality:
Kawa is described as someone that’s tough to read, or at least that is how one would perceive him to be, which is entirely true. There are times when Kawa is talkative to the point one thinks he won't ever shut up. However, there are times when he is very silent, being non-sociable. Kawa is this way because he picks and chooses when he wants to talk or not. In most cases, Kawa has a smile on his face but behind that charming smile is someone who has no feelings or cares for whoever he speaks to, purposely hiding his genuine menacing emotion. Someone whose true objective is gaining the intelligence of the individual, no matter how small it may seem. He is someone that could be talking to another while simultaneously thinking something the opposite of whatever he is saying. His presence comes off as calm and laid-back; it’s no easy feat for anyone to rip away the facade off the surface and reveal his true nature. So whenever Kawa comes off as friendly, it is just a facade to conceal his deadly persona.

Despite Kawa's ordinarily calm demeanor, Kawa, in reality, loves fighting. His bloodlust always surfaces against weak opponents, during the thrill of battle, and during feelings of superiority against strong opponents, he is confident he can defeat. However, he doesn't allow his thirst for blood or the joy of fighting to overtake him. Kawa bides his time, and when he finally chooses to act, he does so swiftly and silently. Kawa has a relatively large ego, and when he sets his mind to killing someone, he refuses to give up until he succeeds, unwilling to tolerate the existence of someone more capable who has directly beaten him. Kawa operates ruthlessly and doesn't interpose personal feelings when performing duties entrusted to him; the only thing that matters is the objective at hand. He has no regard for life other than his own and even takes pride that he has seemingly never allowed an opponent to live. This was taught and instilled in him; never show mercy. Mercy was weakness.

Despite how Kawa presents himself, which is usually calm and not easily approachable, Kawa has a soft side that not everyone sees too often. Unfortunately, he has only ever shown this soft side for a woman who would later become his wife.

Reiryoku Level: Immense Spiritual Power — Reiryoku Control: Mastered Control

Kawa’s spiritual pool is something that he was blessed with. It is these same massive pools that empower his kido when he does choose to employ it, firing spell after spell with abandon, and no visible signs of strain or fatigue. His father, Daigo, and many other teachers taught him how to properly hone his ability to enhance his combat prowess — making him an ultimate warrior capable of improving his physical capabilities. When allowing his reiryoku to be known, it is calm, much like he is; it doesn’t allow it to pour out wildly unless he wills it so. Kawa practiced and trained this method through meditation to control the immense power that was inside of him as such a large pool of spiritual power at his disposal demanded he learns to control it.

Through years and centuries of training and meditation, Kawa has become so in tune with the flow of his spiritual power that he can determine just how much or how little to use when fueling his attacks. Kawa's true mastery comes from being able to completely mask his presence at will, where he becomes undetectable by those short of mastery in the art of detection. Due to being in a division centered around espionage where subterfuge is demanded, the skill demanded he focuses and hones his ability to do so.

For Kawa, when he does conceal himself it is like being shrouded in a veil of darkness, masking his existence, allowing him to move as he pleases — sneaking up on a target and attacking from whatever angle he wants.

Sensing Reiryoku: Master

As a member of the Onmitsukidō (隠密機動, Secret Tactics; Viz "Stealth Force"), honing this ability was a requirement, a prerequisite to being proficient in his tasks and missions. Much like meditating to control his immense reiryoku, the training simultaneously allowed Kawa to hone his Reikaku (霊覚, "Spiritual Sense"). Capable of feeling what spiritual being is emitting spiritual pressure, differentiating between the various spiritual bodies from Shinigami to Hollow, hollow to Quincy, Quincy to Fullbringer, or from friend and foe. As a boy, such a feat was beyond him, taking time to fully concentrate on certain reiatsu to determine the being in question along with their precise location. Currently, he is more than capable of locating the whereabouts of spiritual individuals' over vast distances.

Kawa’s spiritual detection allows him to discern an individual's physical and mental state if they were fighting, and through examining and tracking their reiatsu, he can see exactly how the battle between the individuals was going as if he himself was there in person. Furthermore, Kawa could tell if one was injured and the extent of their injury to some extent. By focusing on a particular area and then expanding his reiatsu to act as a type of radar, he is able to broaden the scope of his search and the area he can cover. Being a part of the Onmitsukido, gathering intelligence is a necessity for Kawa when hunting a specific target.

Reiatsu: Expert

Kawa isn't much of an expressive type, not one to wear it on his face. Much like the man himself, a skilled sensor when detecting his reiatsu will find it nearly impossible to gauge his emotions through his reiatsu. His spiritual pressure can appear calm and neutral, and though one could feel the soothing presence of his reiatsu, those that sense it aren't aware that he is more than likely primed for something far more sinister. The calm nature of this release is a deception used to catch someone off guard. Those same people, though able to detect his reiatsu, cannot detect any malicious or ill-intent behind his intentions. Kawa's reiatsu comes in the form of a pillar of autumn light that shoots into the sky. When released, everyone within the surrounding area can feel the air trembling.

When stoked to anger and unleashing his reiatsu, the feel of his reiatsu is entirely different from its perceived calm nature. There is no pillar of light, in its stead is a powerful force trembling the air, making the ground shake and crack beneath his feet. If Kawa exerted enough pressure, he could cause nearby buildings to crumble and the ground to fracture. Everything around him suffers when exerting his reiatsu under anger, paralyzing those who would be considered weaker than himself, losing their breath and becoming weaker the closer they are to him. If Kawa is angered enough, one might come to witness the shape of reiatsu. From time to time, he may rely on using this as an act of intimidation towards those weaker than himself, forcing them to think twice before introducing them to their death.

Reiatsu Shape: Wolf
Reiatsu.png

Once released, Kawa reiatsu shapes itself in the form of a massive orange wolf, an indication of his inner soul. His control over his reiatsu allows him to use it to send the reiatsu formed wolf towards his target to trap them between its massive fangs. Instead of feeling the sharpness of fangs stabbing into flesh, one would feel more like a hand was grabbing hold of whatever it touches — keeping them pinned with merely his wolf shaped reiatsu.

Reiatsu Effect(s): Inducement — Phantom Pain
Known by few outside of his division, Kawa’s reiatsu is rather poisonous. Those exposed to his spiritual pressure, slowly find their bodily functions weakened over time. Non-living things such as grass, plants and flowers wither, losing their color and dying off. For living beings, after being exposed to his reiatsu for extended periods of time find themselves growing lightheaded, gaining a type of fuzziness. Losing control of their movements, as their actions grow dulled. The longer one is exposed to his reiatsu and the closer they were to him, the longer the effects remain once freed from the weight of his spiritual pressure.

Zanjutsu Level: Master Swordsman

Zanjutsu (斬術, Swordsmanship; Viz "Art of the Sword")
Since he could hold a wooden sword, Kawa has been trained in the arts of Zanjutsu (斬術, Swordsmanship; Viz "Art of the Sword"), preparing and familiarizing himself with different blades daily. His training helped him to gain knowledge of the feel, weight and size of the cold steel blades. From the feel of the blades as he swung them, the sound the sword makes when swiftly slashing through the air, making the blade truly an extension of his own body. Kawa practiced to familiarize himself with the timing and reach of the blade's edge from his chosen target, learning when to strike, when to counter, how close he should be and how far he could be from his opponent or target. To become an even more efficient swordsman he learned the vital areas and weak spots to strike with his sword to dismantle and disable his opponent — utilizing different sword styles from Kendo to Iaidō.

Harsh training has made Kawa a master in the way of the sword, able to cause minor to severe injuries to anyone he wished to cut down effortlessly. During his training in the blade he studied the rhythm and patterns of his teachers’ footwork, practiced drawing his sword from its scabbard to increase the effectiveness of the draw and cutting ability, and more importantly increasing the precision of his strikes. Kawa is capable of creating a projectile slash from his blade with a mere swing. The projectile-like attack isn't an energy based attack but rather the air formed from his blade’s sharpness and the speed of his draw drastically increase its cutting power. The speed and control behind Kawa's swings allow his attacks to nearly go unnoticed — those much weaker in terms of skill in this area would be unable to feel being cut until seconds later. When they finally do realize they have been cut, it would be far too late as they have already fallen to Kawa's blade work. In terms of techniques Kawa prefers making use of Agitowari, splitting his target vertically or horizontally.

Kawa prefers quick, sharp, precise slashes and thrusts instead of unrefined "brutish" attacks to slightly alter his method of offense and throw off opponents in the process as they are forced to shift and adjust to the ever-changing assault. The precision in each of his strikes forces his opponents to adjust their guard constantly.

Known Techniques: Agitowari, Ryodan, Senmaioroshi, Onibi

Hohō Level: Shunpo Master
Hohō (歩法, Step Method; Viz "Fast Movement")
Kawa_shunpo.png

It is said that as a baby, Kawa walked before he could crawl; and before they knew it, he was running. Speed was always a natural asset for Kawa, even without using Hohō (歩法, Step Method; Viz "Fast Movement") his speed was thought to be phenomenal, appearing like a mere shadow as he moved. Being invisible was vital to his job, and operating using speed was the main factor in being both deadly and silent. However, when incorporating his immense speed with shunpo it gives him even more of an advantage in this field, taking very minimal steps to get from one point to another, covering extremely vast distances quickly, especially when compared to an average shunpo user. Kawa's ability in shunpo is to such a degree that it's almost as if he had teleported rather than physically moving.

When utilizing hoho, Kawa makes use of being silent — moving in and out of places without so much as a peep. Not even the wind would give his position away unless he wanted you to hear him as a distraction from appearing from another place. Hence the alias he received from within the Rukongai District as The Silent Wolf (寡黙狼; “Kamoku Ōkami”), stalking his prey from the shadows or a distance, studying and observing them before moving in for the kill. Being a part of the Second Division , silence is very much needed when it comes to the task of the Stealth Force; there was no room for weaklings or someone not able to get the job done.

Kawa is even able to create up to four tangible forms of himself with relative ease, where it appears so realistic that it could be challenging to discern which one was legitimately Kawa himself — being able to shift from one location to several others. Circling his opponent with speed alone, he can trap them and attack them from several angles. By the time they even try to hit one of the four images, Kawa has already altered his next course and struck from another angle.

Known Techniques: Shunpo, Utsusemi

Hakuda Level: Expert Hakuda Combatant
Hakuda (白打, White Hits; Viz "Hand-to-Hand Combat")
catchingsword.png

When it comes to Hakuda Kawa is well-versed in disarming techniques or striking pressure points to paralyze his targets temporarily. Kawa has learned different hand-to-hand styles and incorporated them into a deadly combination. Hand-to-hand combat was something he was personally trained in by his Father, a man who only used his fists as a weapon, turning his entire body into steel and ruling over his opponent with an iron fist. His Father ensured that Kawa would be a capable hand-to-hand fighter, dismantling his opponents with simple and effective strikes to weak spots.

By no means is Kawa a master in this skillset, yet through fighting and training he learned to take down bigger opponents or opponents that might have slightly outmatched him in close quarter combat. By doing so, Kawa employs the best strategies to overcome the size advantage of larger opponents, mainly focusing on defensive countermeasures before concentrating on using strikes towards areas where they hurt such as the nose, kneecaps, etc. — using everything within his power to overcome them, incorporating his natural speed and reflexes to move around them. Kawa’s strikes tend to resemble the Wing Chun style, using rapid punches by unifying both reiryoku and speed, allowing him to make his punches quicker and deadlier.

Kawa has enough control over the strength behind his strikes, applying enough power behind his strike that it creates a shockwave upon contact or piercing through his target's body as easily as a blade could. However, Kawa does favor two-finger strikes such as with Tsukiyubi or an open palm strike like Tesshō. Two moves he probably uses the most out of many other applications of Hakuda.

Known Techniques: Oni Dekopin, Tessho, Tsukiyubi

Kido Skill Level: Kidō Expert
Kidō (鬼道, Demon/Spirit Way; Viz "Demon Arts")

Kido, an area where Kawa has practiced since he started learning how to control his reiryoku. Able to easily employ simple spells that Kawa had learned, allowing them to feel much more substantial than what they would be when used by an average user. Kawa makes use of both hado and bakudo like the majority of shinigami, though he favors Bakudo’s binding techniques when needing to detain individuals, and what better way to keep someone detained than a well formed bakudo? Though he prefers bakudo for its binding purposes, he doesn't refrain from using hado, employing spells such as Hadō #4. Byakurai (白雷, Pale Lightning), a spell he has come to favor in the Hado category. Through that spell, Kawa can easily pierce through the bodies of his adversaries. Most of the kido Kawa uses are usually low level spells, though he uses them with devastating effects even without their incantations.

Nevertheless, Kawa uses other applications of kido when necessary. Overall Kawa is skilled enough to mostly forgo the incantations of the spells he’s come to know and utilize, and can execute spells in quick succession.

Known Spells:

Bakudo
Sai, Hainawa, Enkosen, Seki, Horin, Rikujokuro, Kyokko, Shitotsu Sansen, Tozansho, Hyapporankan, Danku, Hakufuku

Hado
Sho, Byakurai, Tsuzuri Raiden, Shakkaho, Haien, Teran, Sokatsui, Soren sokatsui, Zangerin

Skills and Abilities:

High Pain Tolerance: Kawa has built up a rather high tolerance towards pain due to the years of brutality he received from his teachers' training. The main factor behind this was his father. He was a man who bruised and beat Kawa to damn near death on multiple occasions, making him tougher, as he put it. As a result, Kawa can fight through even the most torturous of pain. When officially joining the ranks of the stealth force his lessons became more focused, teaching many ways to block out the pain, from slowing down his breath to altering his focus on something else, tempering the strength of his will. Over the centuries of his conditioning, tolerating injuries became so natural to Kawa that any severe injuries he did receive were nothing to him. He could completely ignore the pain to the point that he would not flinch or show any sign of grief or discomfort. He could continue to fight even with one arm if it came down to it. Kawa has been taught that the absence of pain leads to a lack of fear, which leads to disregarding consequences. In short, you cannot fear what you do not feel. Therefore you ignore any ramifications of one's actions.

Equipment:
Exploding Shuriken | Denreishinki X | Odorless Drug | Flash Bomb| Reaitsu Concealing Cloak|

Exploding Shuriken: A four-star shuriken that can be used to be thrown from long distances and explodes upon impact. Sometimes the shuriken can detonate mid-throw if appropriately timed. It was designed by Kawa himself to add to his arsenal.

Reaitsu Concealing Cloak: A cloak specially designed to conceal Kawa's presence, to keep him from being detected through his reiatsu. This cloak completely hides away his spiritual pressure, allowing Kawa to move in and out without a problem. Granted, as fast as Kawa may be, others could still sense the presence of his spiritual signature had they mastered that skill and are able to perceive his fast-paced movements. However, the cloak helps remove that part of the problem and gives him a full advantage of being undetected.

Inventions:

Kaze Kōgeki
(風 攻撃; Lit Wind Strike)- It is an hakuda technique created by Kawa, where incorporating speed, he would move in close range where Kawa rotates his body. During the process, Kawa stretches the leading foot outwards, leaving the other leg tucked into his abdomen making it seem as if he was moving in for a strike with just an axe kick, swinging the foot generating a physical force able to knock them out or incapacitate them temporarily.

Goshi-gire (五指切れ; Lit. Five Finger Slash)- A hakuda technique where Kawa enters a wolf-like stance, his hands held out with fingers clawed like fanged teeth. By striking the air from a distance or up close, Kawa creates an arc of five claw-like slashes of air, holding enough power to slash at the targets like blades without ever physically touching them, allowing the claw-like strike to do the work. It isn't a deadly strike but it is enough to injure whatever Kawa is looking to harm.

Taiyōken (太陽拳, lit. "Solar Fist")- An unnamed kido spell that Kawa had developed where he places one hand or both towards the center of his face, fingers spread out. This spell conjures a white light to fire out and blind everything watching with the exception of Kawa since he is projecting the light himself. This technique is defensive rather than offensive and is mainly used to gain the upper hand, make a hasty retreat, or set up a more complicated attack without fear of interruption.

Zanpakuto Name: Chiba (千葉, “Thousand Leaves”)

Zanpakuto Appearance:
Upon first glance, it appears rather unremarkable when sheath, the zanpakuto consists of an obsidian wood scabbard, and it seems to be just a regular stick with a blade hidden inside. Once removed, one could see the total size of the edge where it doesn't exactly have a guard like most traditional Japanese swords.

Zanpakuto Spirit:
Chiba has long black hair with fringes in front of her forehead, large breasts, and aqua eyes. She has a styled bun on top of her head. Her attire consists of a provocative purple Chinese cheongsam outfit with half of her body exposed. She also has been shown to have long fingernail tips. She wears purple pumps and either paint or tattoos of purple flames on her legs. Chiba is a voluptuous beauty and is identified as a mysterious woman. She often speaks like an Oiran courtesan, and almost everything she says is erotic. Chiba is best described as a Master of Kung-Fu, an assassin, and a warped, murderous, vicious, and tease-happy pervert. She often gets aroused at the drop of a hat. Chiba is chaotic, dangerous, resourceful, cruel, sadistic, incredibly cold and calculating, and highly unmerciful, amoral, and conniving, all aspects of Kawa's personality.

Inner World:
ce20a01c46f24f408f516c2b6f09cac1.png

Kawa's inner world is in a dark, voided area with nothing in sight but a pool of endless crimson water. The sound of water dropping into the lake of blood constantly echoes throughout the boundless space. You could see Kawa’s reflection from the surface; ripples of water are formed from wherever he stood, a few leaves here and there all over this lake. The voided space is a reference to Kawa's mind where it is devoid, full of emptiness. All there was and will ever be is the blood of his enemies, and everything he attacks is considered his enemy.

Release Phrase: “Disperse…..Chiba”

vS3IXRSRCMKMeR6aMh54wdcawP0baNS6ZV5E8FAD_scIa1FBk_IDEwka2rP6_u2qsi-VRU6HfySSJWmYkd2GOorGDgbEb6aCt5zWyOP8GNGzp-Or0ztRU9qyFrSvyCkELMx20Ck0cY9HEdlP4L1Y6Cs

Shikai:
KawaShikaione.png

Kawa's Shikai is unlike most zanpakutos that transform once the release has been as Kawa's Shikai doesn't transform precisely; the flat side of the blade has an obsidian color outlining the center of the orange-reddish color glow where it has formed wavy grooves from the handle to the tip of the zanpakuto.

Shikai Special Ability:
FallenLeaves.png

Chiba's unique ability is called Ha no Kokuhyō (葉の酷評; lit “Leaves of Damnation”). Upon having released his zanpakuto, either reciting the release phrase or releasing his blade voicelessly, allows Kawa to conjure what appears to be an endless number of autumn-colored leaves. These leaves form a ceaseless vortex, surrounding himself and his adversary enough to cover a wide area; Kawa is able to expand or condense this field of leaves that surrounds him, moving as he moves. Anyone outside of this vortex of leaves would have difficulty seeing what happens on the inside. These fall-colored leaves seem harmless as they do not cut and seem just as fragile as regular leaves, but should the adversary ever come in contact with the leaves, they are said to "change their color" from autumn orange to crimson red. The leaves on contact emit a powerfully potent poison that causes one’s blood to boil to the point it begins spurting out from their veins, bursting from their skin violently and profusely — causing them to be weaker or die from excessive blood loss. Cutting up the leaves rather than saving one from its effects further subjects them to it as the smaller portions from the leaves become overlooked and are able to cover his target far easier.

Reiryoku Level:

Great Spiritual Power.

As her rank as captain she was already knew to have great spiritual power. Due to in her past and even now through constant training through brutal and calm conditions. She pushed herself to the limit day in and day out to get to this standing. She did trainings including meditation and even combat situations. She herself was born with this absurd amount from her said birth. She herself surprised her teachers and what not due to the sheer amount of her Reiryoku.

Through her many trainings she learned to control and hone this amount of reiryoku. This combined with her knowledge within zanjutsu make for a deadly combo.

Reiryoku Control:

Mastered Control.

With her amount of Reiryoku she had to learn how to control it. This control came from various different training situations and lessons. She was put in calm conditions instead of the unforgiving battlefield where she mainly trained in. This was something that came as calming and brought the idea of control of her body and her Reiryoku. As she wasn't born with the sheer talent she had to work hard and hone her great amount of power. She soon enough gained this great amount of control from her teachings in the academy and her own form of training.

Sensing Reiryoku:

Expert

This was almost natural to her as this was required to track criminals and what not. She used this for many missions given to her. She is able to successfully track many criminals through this ability and this made many criminal tracking very easy. The training to get to this standing was very challenging as training her own was not as hard as she thought but sensing others and identifying who's it was, was quite a challenge. So she began with simple targets like a bird in front of her. She would keep it in a cage and then she would place it farther and farther until she could let it go. This became then natural and she could do it almost instantly. She then began to train in the speed of how quick she could find a being. This also was hard and she began to do the same training but with a friend and soon enough she was an expert at this tactic.

Reiatsu:

Expert

Her reiatsu is one of her scarier abilities. She trained to master this technique for the soul purpose of getting criminals down quicker. Her reiatsu takes the form of a dark demon like figure with a golden like appearance to it. This took years if not decades to master due to the sheer amount of power it took to manifest such a being. This power just from its apperance causes those to tremble in fear and freeze. She took like many others the meditation route but it took longer. She meditated for a month. In one place for years thinking of one thing. To manifest. She would replay the words manifest in her head. For years and would finally come out of that training with a manifested Reiatsu.

Effect:

Paralysis.

Type:

Standard

Shape: Monster

Zanjutsu Level:

Master Swordsman.

This is her main focus in combat. She trained from even the day she found out she was going to the academy. He is even still training this aspect to this day. She spent 67 years just swinging her sword nothing fancy at all. She would just swing. This refined the speed of her slashes and their accuracy. She then went on to make many techniques and pick up on the speed of her sheathing of her sword. She would then go on to take off from her duties for 30 years she would go into the mountains and train. She would train to hone this abilities and then soon she would go on to return a master. Her sword speed enough was scary enough to cause her opponents to give up. Once activating her shikai she had to learn to master this scythe 10x bigger than her. So she began with another journey. This took her not a long time to master this due to her previous experience with the sword it wasn't much of a difference to her.

Her speed isn't the best within the captains but she has speed to her. She due to the situation she was put in while being in the district she had to run so even from the beginning of her life her stamina and speed was put to the test. She survived many situations through her said speed and has mostly honed it more for her swordsmanship. This helped with the time she had to complete the many missions she was put on and the many trials she had to face. Sometimes running was the best option.

Hakuda:

Hakuda Combatant.

Although she has some experience in this feild she hasn't mastered it nor has she gone on in studying it. This was due to the sword taking up much more of her time and she thought she would never loose her sword to anyone. So there isn't much to her story in hakuda. She simply learned one technique in this field just in case all else fails.

Kido Skill Level:

Kidō Specialist.

This is her primary go to when it comes after the sword. She relies on the not large amount of spells she knows either when she dropped her sword or she had to capture criminals. She has obtained some binding skills for capturing and detaining criminals. But this isn't her go to technique. This is simply a alternative. She learned most of what she knows through means of the academy and their trainings. Then she went on to learn other binding techniques and what not through readings and studies.

They are very creepy and live like their owner to get in peoples weak spots. They live manipulating others but only for the benefit of their owner. They are usually called a monster due to their habit of joking about how they will rip others open and play with their insides. But he doesn't casually walk up to people and do these things he is usually on the lay low other times. He only does these things in general conversation.

Inner World: The Zanpakutos inner world is that of a torture chamber that you would see in the mideaval times. It is able to show you your darkest fear or darkest thought by chaining you to the table.

Release Phrase: Show them no mercy! Antei Shita mono!

Shikai:

Her shikai takes the form of a huge scythe. This scythe is larger than her and weighs about 127lb.

Shikai Special Ability: This shikai personifies the target's deepest fear. This is done by the user touching the target with their weapon. This fear is not controlled by her and is personified in the target's mind and not in the real world. This can be undone if the target can somehow overcome that fear.

Bankai: Shin no kyōfu.

Bankai Special Ability: The bankai makes her scythe just about the size of a normal house which reaches about 1,725 square feet. The banksia ability allows for them not to only project fears on others but make them real. These personifications last 10 minutes each and she can only call on 3. These fears can be hers or others she can only give these fears in order and that is to attack others. She has protection against all the fears created by her. She activated the bankai ability just like her shikai. Although after making 9 fears real she begins to feel weak and then her bankai is deactivated and she passes out. So the stronger the enemy the less likely she can win.

She was born in the dumps like many other soul born reapers. She had no home, no nothing. She never knew order as people who had power abused it and tore down homes and killed others. But one day light came to the soul society. He was the 6th division captain of the current times. She was automatically in love with his position and hoped to one day be able to be in that same position. So she began. She one day was walking down the place she once hated with a smile on her face. She was still alone but she was happy she found purpose. She was walking and suddenly a man came by and looked at her. He asked her why she was smiling in such a way in this dump of a life. She told him it was because she had a purpose. He asked if she had a home and she said no. So she was taken in by this man who was fortunate enough to have a home. They lived here and he taught her how to manipulate others into doing things for her. He also taught her basic survival skills in this world. She soon heard of this academy where she could learn how to be a soul reaper. She then finally left the place that she once loved and went to the academy. She was taught and she may not have been a genius but with her determination for order she began to excel in her classes. Sooner or later she joined the 6th division and not long after became a seated shinigami. She found this wasn't enough at all and decided that she would become the captain. The current captain of that time found a liking to her due to her hard working attitude at the time and determination. She then after 120 years she became the Captain after passing the test. She was happy but soon enough she began to slowly not care much anymore. She still put the same effort in her job but now she got to as high as she can. It didn't mean much anymore. So she became what she is today.

"Just try not to get in my way."

Suneater (サンイーター San'ītā)
A moniker bestowed by his very own Zanpakuto. As Hiroka grew to better understand the nature of his very spirit weapon, he had truly gained her respect. It was always present but wasn't until that pivotal moment that it was cemented in stone for all eternity. Her power does not originate simply in traditional flames and heat, but instead the all consuming influence of the very stars above. They bring life and death in an infinite cycle that is both beautiful and inevitable. The strength that Ikarihime bestows is only matched by his relentless resolve to protect his allies and eradicate any threat to the Seireitei indiscriminately. In a promise to his late sister, by his closest companion, and by those around him... Hiroka would reduce every obstacle to ash.

Character Name: Hiroka Ikari
Name Translation: Hiroka (火路佳 - Fire, Distance, Beautiful) Ikari ( - Anchor)

The Ikari family had a prominent history as sell-swords. Their blades cut through countless individuals leaving nothing but a bloody path behind them. As the years went on, many members of the bloodline fanned out and found other occupations and married into other families. All that remained after a few centuries was but one final core group that held that infamous name. Even with the numbers reduced greatly, bridges had become muddied over the years and it may have spelled the complete end of their story. Hiroka and his twin Senri, the last remaining children that existed in any light, had a promising life ahead of them. Raised with dozens and dozens of hours honing their bladework, as well as learning to properly wield their monstrous levels of spiritual energy to the best of their ability. Their parents did not seek to resurge into the same profession many before held but instead urged them to pursue what they desired. That ended up being the enrollment in the Gotei 13. Eventually the sins of their elders caught up with them, robbing this branch of the family of all but these twins. And with the eventual death of Senri, Hiroka became the last of his direct kin. The remaining Ikari remained scarce for a period but eventually relocated back to their former village, planning to get their own revenge and reclaim their infamy.

A fighter down to his very core. Hiroka had graduated from the Academy and headed straight for the Thirteenth Division. He spent years honing his combat prowess through his frequent missions to eradicate Hollow threats within the World of the Living. After the death of his twin, Senri, he knew that simply fighting the small game that often lurked within the Human World wouldn't grant him much growth. He couldn't rely on a high-level threat to push his abilities to the test. It was then that he made the decision to transfer to the Eleventh Division. He spent a majority of his time within the battle-focused division training so that he could be the sword and shield that was needed on the battlefield. He would not allow for another devastating situation like his late-sister's fate if it can be prevented. The man worked until his very hands bled from wielding his weapon, until he could only rest because he blacked out, until each strike he landed could break through all those in his path.

The bloodiest path became all he knew, though he did not revel in it. Unlike a lot of his peers, he didn't seek out a battle but certainly handled it when conflict came his way. Soon enough his name gained notoriety among the Eleventh. A very moniker that has become synonymous with a monster. One of the few members that did not see such of him was his partner in crime, Shoumetsu Takahiro. Above all else, they knew they had each other's backs and would keep each other in check. Together their synergy led them to fell many foes with ease. The incarnation of magnetism and the unyielding flames of the sun.

Initially Hiroka sought out the title of Kenpachi and a coveted seat amongst the Captains of the Gotei 13, but his mind changed a bit after his participation in the Kenpachi Games. It wasn't that he didn't value such labels, but that he may not be worthy of them. Rather than rushing into something that could result in his untimely end, he recoiled and sought to improve himself. Not just to evolve his combative capabilities but to develop his character into a place befitting of such recognition. He did not want to simply be a boogeyman known for nothing other than his rage and his blade.

This revelation came with an opportunity. One that his dear friend proposed to him. An offer to take up the position of Lieutenant within her division, the Ninth. The concept of working as security for the Seireitei still held strong as something befitting of his existing talents but also allowed him to seek skills outside of his realm of comfort. It became a time of change for Hiroka. A new start.

"You wanna know how I got these scars? Wait… You actually do? Why?"

Notable Features: For many, Hiroka's height and general physique is one immediate distinguishing factor. Though what stands to be the most notable is the series of scars that are scattered about his body. Most prominently the one placed right upon his visage. Cast along his left eye, he has a large scar with an origin that left that very optic blinded. A majority of his past injuries were self-inflicted due to the nature of his Zanpakuto's power. With every dedicated session of his training, he amounted countless burns and scars which eventually led to substantial resistances to any further injury and scarring from that source.

divider_for_Hiroka.jpg

Personality: Hiroka is known for his explosive temper. When it comes to those that get in his way or have become a target of his mission, he traditionally exhibits a rageful persona towards them. He was not always like this, however. This negative trait came about after the passing of his twin sister. His aggression formed less towards others and more so about himself. That internal discourse led to that self loathing translating outward to anyone that impeded his growth. By any means he was on a mission to rectify his inability to protect Senri. On the positive, this was a catalyst for exponential growth. He lived and breathed training to the point that it was all he knew. Never again would he let what transpired occur again. Never again. He would be the blade that strikes down all those that dare to tread before him.

Hiroka’s wrath was often fanned further by Ikarihime’s nature. Where she cared about his well being, she also had an insatiable will to burn any of those that she deemed an obstacle for Hiroka. It wasn’t until recently that he had pieced together how far gone his strife spanned. Something had to change. With how it was now, that very fragment of himself would likely act against his wishes. Sure, that anger aided in fueling his power, but certainly it couldn’t and shouldn’t be the only thing that defines him. From that point on, he would work not only to achieve his former aspiration but also to learn to exist in a state of being more grounded. The rage he felt would never subside into obscurity but at the very least, it should not be the only facet of him.

Among others, outside of bouts of aggression, he is a reserved and formal individual. He may come from a clan of savages but he and his late sibling had the luxury of being raised as a noble by their adoptive family. This brought with it early training, formal mannerisms, and general education. Rather than needing to live the life of blood that ran through his lineage, he had the choice of where his future went. Even now… The choice was his. It was time to figure out his true motivation. It was time to reinvent himself. It was time for a change of pace.

"Did you expect a different outcome?"

Reiryoku Level: Vast Spiritual Power | Reiryoku Control: Mastered Control
Hiroka's spiritual power has very few rivals among Shinigami. Calling him a juggernaut would be too light of a term for the feats he can accomplish. A single strike can amount to a target being absolutely destroyed by the force. And if they managed to have the endurance to sustain such an impact, they could easily be sent hundreds of meters should he desire so. His Reiryoku flows so densely within his body that every muscle basks in this boon, giving him not only with that sheer strength, but also speed and endurance to match. A well placed slash may not be capable of creating more than a shallow cut. A full throttled punch or kick may not even displace his footing.

Hiroka has flawless control over his spiritual energy so long as his seals remain in place, allowing for him to weaponize every piece of his power. After decades of using his previous seal, he has learned how to hone a good portion of his spiritual energy with masterful precision. Only with the last of his limiters does all hell break loose. That last bind's removal leads to it rampaging. Removing any and all shackles that once held back the lethality of his actions. It is then that he truly becomes a monster. At this point, even without his Zanpakuto or his equipment, he would still be a force to be feared. At that very moment, nothing will stop his wrath.

Sensing Reiryoku: Master
Hiroka always had a gift for locating and distinguishing the presences of others. It was rare that he had been unaware of an approaching individual. Years and years of building this skill eventually led to him being able to do so not only at the closest proximities but also for miles. Allies or enemies searched out with such a proficiency that it'd be as if he was right in front of them. It matters not how far one tries to dwarf their own Reiryoku, if there is a thread to be followed, he would be aware of it. Changes in the state of a subject can also be perceived. Should they be agitated, wounded, or rendered incapacitated, that distinction would be immediately apparent.

Whether that signature is a spark in a large crowd or unruly blaze overtaking an area, that which Hiroka focuses upon is absolutely exposed. The noticing of these energies has even achieved a point that goes beyond any needed lucidity. Unconsciously that newly emerged spark becomes known to the Suneater. And should that glint seek to bring harm, it would be snuffed out indiscriminately.

"Return to dust."

Reiatsu: Master | Reiatsu Colors: Red | Reiatsu Effect(s): Cremation

Destructive from start to finish, Hiroka’s Reiatsu is like an all consuming flame. All that comes under its influence begins to burn away with each passing moment. Even the smallest fragment of this release can sear away at flesh, let alone while it is at its peak. Exposure will burn away anything that does not have the fortitude to resist it. Materials, structures, people, it matters not what it is, the heat will wither it away all the same. The presence of this force can be weaponized and condensed by Hiroka, but otherwise rages wildly when unsealed. Without Ikarihime, thermal influence is still in his cards. Hiroka prefers to not unseal his spiritual power in the Seireitei or even the World of the Living if it is at all avoidable, given that this effect does not discriminate on who becomes a victim of it.

Hiroka over the years developed a technique to precisely utilize his Reiatsu upon his body or weapons, something he has named Shizukesa no Gekihen (静けさの激変, Upheaval of Serenity). Through this skill he condenses his Reiatsu along a limb or a weapon and adds an intense “edge” of pure heat. This allows for the instrument of attack to cleave through an object/target not only with its natural force but an immense amount of thermal energy, essentially burning through it as well.

"The only reason I am alive is to fight, and the only reason I fight is to protect."

Zanjutsu Level: Master Swordsman
Hiroka is one who can easily deliver a definitive end to an opponent with a masterful display of his swordsmanship. As a child, he had been raised under his family’s style of bladework and later had more formal training by the hands of the Higasa. Before even enrolling in the Gotei 13 he had a thorough understanding of how to make use of a blade. There were few that even stood a chance against his skill at the Academy and eventually translated to his time within both the Thirteenth and Eleventh Divisions. Daily routines and spars advanced this talent for the blade further and further. All up to him being able to perform techniques fully reflexively, needing no thoughts to formulate how to make use of what he knows. His weapon may well be another limb for himself. The word precision is an understatement for what he is capable of.

First he gained and grew his blood family’s style, filling in the blanks in what could be taught over the years. Essentially creating an offshoot of their techniques. He later began learning traditional Zanjutsu that someday led to mastery. That achievement did not come with celebration but instead the desire to test himself even further. Going as far as learning how to wield two blades at once, how to fight with an inverted grip, and even to perform flicks and tosses that resemble fighting with a polearm or nunchaku. Hiroka could present himself with the tried and true Kenjutsu of centuries or instead execute a seemingly erratic method he created himself.
His swordsmanship is complimented heavily by his ambidextrous trait and his physical prowess. The weight of an absolute monster comes behind his blade should he want it to occur. Bisecting through nearly anything that dares to stand against him. The vigor that can come from his strikes can send shockwaves with a single swipe. Additionally his strength and general speed aided in a master of Iaijutsu. Allowing him to draw his blade could easily lead to the dispatching of an opponent without the eye even perceiving the movement. This gesture could even amount to the subjugation of multiple enemies. If he wills it, he can completely shroud the drawing of his weapon, often appearing as if he hadn’t even moved. In an instant a blow could be dealt and his Zanpakuto suddenly appeared within his grasp. Couple this talent with his expertise in Shunpo and he easily becomes a threat to even those who also have reached a mastery in Zanjutsu.

A specific technique out from his proficiency in swift bladework is known as Warlord's Hierarchy (武将の階層, Bushō no Kaisō). Hiroka's mastery of Iai is at a point where he has found few that can match it. A sheathed blade is a vessel of deceit. Its escape from its sheath shrouded by its obscuring speed and its strike as precise as a surgeon's scalpel. A single moment could spell with it the immediate resolution to a battle. The drawn weapon breaking forth with a pace that even exceeds the capacity of Hiroka's own Shunpo. Bushō no Kaisō specifically encapsulates the concept of a perfect defense while also giving way for a perfect offense. Any and all things that breach the range of his blade could find themselves bisected far before they could even process this Ikari's blade withdrawing from its containment. During this prepared counter, Hiroka specifically fine tunes all of his senses to specifically three-hundred and sixty degrees around him. His perception narrowing to just outside his reach to be ready for the slightest breach of his defined zone. Be it an individual, an object, or even an attack forged of spiritual energy, his Zanpakuto will assault it all the same. Coating his blade in his spiritual energy to further the cutting power of his blade should he need to. Even spells may find their forms split in two when his Zanpakuto is coated in his spiritual power.

"It seems your eyes deceived you."

Hohō Level: Shunpo Master
One of the coveted skills among Shinigami, something Hiroka has an expertise in. Naturally he has an impossibly potent amount of speed from his sheer strength, but even with that there comes a time when the techniques of Shunpo become incredibly important in battle. He pushed himself for many decades with the use of weighted equipment to work towards perfecting this specific technique. His time and dedication of utilizing Hohō eventually netted him the ability to utilize Utsusemi, Senka, and Speed Clones. Where his raw speed can not reach, these skills would fill in that gap. Hiroka continues to work endlessly with Hohō despite his obtained mastery. Believing there's always more to learn and improve upon.

Hiroka's stride is one of silence, even outside of the use of speed techniques. He does not shed a step then nor when moving at his maximum speed. The desire to excel at this art was mostly to compliment his melee techniques more so than defensive purposes. Being able to keep pace and deal out endless close-quarters strikes is just one factor that makes him a threat.

What stands out among his particularly prominent techniques is that of Utsusemi. That particular extension of Hohō has easily become a favorite and something that he has become rather masterful in. One can easily question if what they see is the Suneater or just his shed skin. While his power is sealed and his control is maintained, he has even developed the ability to release a remnant of his power with that copy and completely suppress his own presence. Ultimately cementing the authenticity of his visual specter.

Hiroka also establishes a connection between his Zanpakuto and Hohō. An art he dubbed Sōgi no Kara (葬儀の殻, Funeral Shell). Through the use of Utsusemi and the explosive nature of his Shikai, he can leave behind a shadow that when struck detonates and subsequently blows away that which hit it. A vessel of deceit that leads into a method of execution.

"Hmm? Did I break you already?"

Hakuda Level: Master Hakuda Combatant
Hakuda has been embedded into the day to day training of Hiroka since his childhood. Just as with his talent for Zanjutsu, he started with beginning his lessons from his blood relatives, and later with his adoptive parents. It is a long staying practice that dates centuries within his arsenal. The prospect of subduing a target with nothing more than one’s bare hands is something that brings Hiroka an immense amount of joy. This led to him learning every direct technique that’d bolster his ability to do so. Of course that eventually hit a wall with mastery, which led to further innovation and development of this art. Hiroka can alter the pathing of his strikes with pinpoint precision to adapt on the fly. Whether this is to find a new course to land the attack or to alternate into one of a different origin. So long as he has the space to maneuver, he will find one way or another to stop his opponent in their tracks.

His movements can meet with another's assault without fail, matching the position of the oppositions limbs or even stretching beyond to exploit their shallow defenses. One might assume that with his stature that he relies solely on the raw strength behind his attacks, yet if they were so narrow minded in their assumption, they'd be surprised to find that his maneuvers also housed impressive flexibility. It is completely possible for this particular fighter to weave his extended limbs into a strike of another nature. This also meant that a transition from what may be intended as a simple punch, could become instead a throw that completely displaces the foe. Countless days spent battling with foes and enemies alike have built the Suneater into a melee powerhouse.

The striking power that Hiroka has due to his monstrous strength makes every strike he does potentially lethal. Should he choose to absolutely break an enemy, it’d take little effort to do so. One well placed action and the targets can be thrown like a comet through obstructions. Attempts to displace the man with a throw or a sweep of the legs may prove to be impossible, instead warranting a rebuttal that can literally spell death for the opposition.

Hiroka developed Hagetaka no Hitokuchi (ハゲタカの一口, Vulture’s Bite), a technique that he developed that is a series of swift jabs from his fingers that bursts holes into the target.

Kidō Practitioner Skill: Kidō Specialist
Hiroka originally held no real interest in furthering his growth in spell-craft. After his defeat during his failed Captaincy battle with Tenzen Oda, he took this as a lesson to change that by learning to better combat this style of fighting. At first his practice was rounding himself in the advanced tactics of these arts but he applied that knowledge to executing spells. His proficiency is the Academy was commendable but took a bit of a halt before this epiphany. Since then he has launched his arsenal through that unending drive to rectify his past shortcomings. Presently his arsenal is small but specialized, having a thorough understanding of execution and strategies behind those spells he knows. It is rare that he’d use these spells in a proper fight due to a preference in his other skills but he keeps it in his back pocket until the moment it becomes necessary.

It is a card that few are aware of considering his prior aversion to its use. Even with expansion on this art, he likely will keep it on the down low as a knife in the dark. He has a strong preference for Bakudō solely because of the way this branch of Kidō fills any gaps in his defensive capabilities. Destructive power is easily at his fingertips through the use of his other attributes and his Zanpakuto. So in turn he desires to further learn barriers, binds, and general supplementary skills to further round him. That doesn’t mean that Hadō is out of his focus, but it is something that holds less importance.

Known Spells: Sai, Hainawa, Seki, Geki, Shō, Kyōmon, Shitotsu Sansen, Byakurai, Ōkasen, Sōkatsui, Shakkahō

Boundless Strength:
Hiroka is capable of feats of strength that are vastly beyond the confines of an average Shinigami. Even the largest of foes could find it near impossible to outmatch the Suneater's vigor. He is completely within his bounds to halt a massive opponent with nothing more than a single hand. He can deliver absolutely devastating strikes that are able to obliterate not only the skeletal structure of that adversary but even the flesh that binds it. This level of muscular power translates to his speed as well. Meaning even without the use of Shunpo, he is able to execute some unbelievable displays of acceleration. Where this level of physical prowess is absolutely insane, he is in complete control when it comes to the output of his attacks. So when sparring with someone or trying to apprehend a target, he could dial it back to be significantly less lethal. One can only hope that mercy is on his mind.

Enhanced Durability:
An extension of his muscular vigor and extensive training, Hiroka has an impressive degree of durability. What may seem like a well placed swing of a blade, may find little purchase when it comes to slicing through his thick hide. On anyone else it may very well bisect them, but for this man, it may simply just become nothing more than a graze. His own exposure to his Zanpakuto's abilities, as well as the natural heat that emits from his body in the form of Reiatsu, has allowed for him to also have a ridiculous level of thermal resistance. He could walk straight through a raging fire without even his skin reddening. To him it'd be like walking through nothing but a steamy bathhouse. Some may very well perceive him as an unstoppable machine should they make no progress in their advances.

Iai Mastery:
Hiroka being allowed to reach for the hilt of his blade could already spell the death of his opponent. Unseen to most, his weapon can leave its binding and deal a definitive blow in that instant. The speed of his Iai techniques can not only provide a single strike but dozens, thoroughly eradicating a foe or dispatching an entire group of enemies. He prides himself in this skill set for it often allows him to deal with opponents without needing to sustain a drawn out battle. Given that he is also ambidextrous with his swordplay, he can even execute Iaijutsu with his non-dominant hand. Even if that means drawing it inverted.

Keen Perception:
Hiroka does have a mastery for detecting Reiryoku signatures, but even outside of that, his other senses are just as keen. The sound of distant footsteps, a subtle breath, a shadow moving just outside of view, or even the flowing of their attire on the wind can act as an announcement. Even changes to space around him he would be aware of, reacting solely to the way one moves the air around him in his approach. Countless times his impressive perception has saved him from sneak attacks.

Zanpakuto Name: Ikarihime (怒り姫 - Wrath Princess)
Release Phrase: Bakuhatsu (爆発 - Detonate)

”Let’s burn it all to the ground.”

Zanpakuto Spirit: Wrath is seen in many cultures as a deep rooted sin. Something that consumes and corrupts those that can not control themselves. Ikarihime is the very embodiment of that nature. Aggression runs so deep within Hiroka that it can be seen even in those that walked before him. For his early life, that flame rarely saw light, but with Senri’s passing, it burst to the surface. That very emotion was only further fanned by the whispers from within the weapon he wields.

Despite their collective capacity for rage, their relationship is that of kindred souls. In the best or worst of times, they are in it for the long haul. If there is one individual that could be treated with kindness, it is Hiroka. She tries to always make sure that he is okay even in his bouts of elevated anger. The duo perceive each other as if they were siblings, ones that look out for each others best interests. Over time Ikarihime has come to realize that her user has been trying to distance himself from living solely under anger. That resolve becomes something that she supports and willingly will act as the host of that rage while he acts as the anchor.

Even with that though, she does have the ability to think rationally and provide reliable advice to Hiroka. Unlike an individual typically blinded by their vices, she is always grounded in her own thoughts. Her perspective is often harshened by her natural state, but still originating from a place of intelligence. This is similar to that of her wielder in that regard, but in her case, she is less likely to escalate her demeanor. It is rare that she will shout or lose her composure. Instead any malice she has is displayed behind her words and not by how she delivers them.

The two are often in communication and likely their shared words are expressed with formalities. Each of them likely refers to each other as if they were royalty, regardless of any actual opinion on such titles or where their relationship stands. It was born of something of habit and evolved into a show of odd endearment. Neither of them display any hostility towards each other, though Hiroka has a habit of trying to dismiss what Ikarihime may say should she be playing the devil on his shoulder. In the past that wasn’t always the case but he prefers to think about how he wants to act without her whispers. That isn’t to say he ignores what she has to say but instead he chooses when he needs to consider it.

Through the pursuit of Bankai, their bond grew to its limit. Though Ikarihime still withheld the key to their true power. Waiting for the day that Hiroka learns to truly hone his rage, rather than letting it consume him. She knows he is right at the door.

He just has to open it.

Inner World: Appearing as a decrepit linear ruin constantly cast by a sunset. This inner realm is accompanied by an intense heat. The smell of smoke fills the air and the space seems to grow hotter by each passing moment. Trying to go over the wall results in flames forcing one back into the straight corridor of the ruins. While traversing forward through the path, an equal distance behind them to where they have tread will be filled in with rubble, blocking a return the opposite way. Occasionally cracks and broken parts of the walls around can be seen, not enough to be passed through, but enough to feel sets of eyes peering on one's self. The combination of an endless forwards path, the growing heat, and the leers from the shadows on the other side of the wall, test the resolve of those within the domain. One must continue to move onward, or the path will ensure your progression with flame.

"Prepare to have that hubris blown away."

Shikai: In released state, Ikarihime takes the form of a curved and hooked sword. The grip of the weapon is colored red, the main blade and the one at the bottom of the hilt as shiny and reflective as in its unreleased state. The weapon retains just about the same length as its unsealed state just now with the change in shape. Its hilt is long enough to either be held with one or two hands comfortably.

divider_for_Hiroka.jpg

Shikai Special Ability: Ikarihime’s power lies in the unyielding presence of heat that her vessel emits. In whatever path Hiroka wills, he can coat the battlefield in a mass of heat which either functions as its own weapon or be the fuel that leads to a thunderous explosion. At face value, many only recognize Ikarihime’s ability as one that creates ruinous detonations, neglecting to see the lethality of the absolutely hellish thermal emissions that act as the prelude to those bursts. The exact intensity, shape, and even purpose of these explosions are decided by Hiroka’s intent. There is some limit to this degree when making larger blasts, given that the concussive force and general fallout of such an event are not within the nature of control of Ikarihime. Outside of that however, the sky's the limit.

Some examples of these alternate functions of the detonations themselves have been the creation of flashbangs or even condensed projectiles. Not everything this weapon puts out needs to be some glorious spectacle. Sometimes the most impressive feats are those that come in a much smaller form. The utility of Ikarihime because of this is only truly limited by the intent of her wielder. Lucky for this weapon her master is one that knows the dance of battle to a masterful degree. Together they can waltz in a flawless serenade of rapturous heat.

The base ability that results in the ignition of Ikarihime’s heat is titled Tsuihō (追放 - Banishment). Something that only needs to transpire should the Suneater choose to call upon it. Regardless of what shape this power takes, it falls within this specific name. Though there is one variation of this trait, something that is often not known to others. It goes by the moniker of Shinratsuihō (森羅追放, Divine Banishment), an enhanced version of the standard detonation. This one is an evolution brought on by pulling power from previously used explosions to create an even more powerful one. There is a limit to what the average Tsuihō can put out, but there is none to be had with the use of this echoing ability. Essentially the longer a fight is drawn out the more dangerous Hiroka becomes. Yet oddly enough, its activation does not come with a greater toll to himself. It can be perceived as this extension simply functioning as a more potent fuel source, while Hiroka only provides the match that lights it.

Aguni no Gasshō (アグニの合唱, Agni's Chorus) is something Hiroka named to refer to a property of his weapon’s heat in which it tethers itself to a subject upon direct contact with Ikarihime, Hiroka, or something that has already been affected by the former two. That which has been bound becomes a vessel for Ikarihime’s breath. This allows for that object or individual to functionally become a bomb. Should an explosion be triggered on a bound target, it can manifest as something that simply erupts from within it or can even be sent outward. This means that it can not only be used to eradicate a foe, but also can be used to project or supplement power in another.

Through the scaling properties of Ikarihime’s Shinratsuihō, at its summit gives one last possibility in this Shikai, the fearsome Yoake no Hanmā (夜明けのハンマー, Hammer of Dawn). This power hones all that pent up power and releases it in an absolutely devastating eruption of all consuming heat. The title of this trait, its reference to ‘Dawn’, comes from the golden illumination that signifies its approaching activation. The explosion born from this pinnacle ability is only comparable to a flare from a star. Forging onward with nigh unstoppable thermal and concussive force. The use of this ability is deemed forbidden within the walls of the Seireitei and even within the World of the Living given its potential for catastrophe. A single use of this power can ravage an entire space with the weight of its feedback, as well as the fallout of heat that comes from it. To most this power is absolute, but that which flows from it is beyond the control of Hiroka. Its emergence spells with it only the all consuming wrath of Ikarihime, leaving none safe from its will. There is a variation with the moniker Yoake no Hanmā: Kiseichū (夜明けのハンマー: 寄生虫, Hammer of Dawn: Parasite) that fulfills the same purpose of releasing that same destructive force but instead causing it to infest the target, rather than creating a massive explosion.

Hiroka need not remain in contact with Ikarihime, nor need he look towards the direction of where he wishes to create a detonation. Just the company of her torridity is enough to alert and act as a marker for the Zanpakuto’s ability. The bond between the pair is so closely tied that there is no need to utter a release phrase, though under most circumstances, Hiroka still prefers to do so.

Tsumibito Jōmyaku (罪人静脈, Sinner’s Vein)
A gift from his captain, Tsumibito Jōmyaku was bestowed upon him with the intent to aid him in his endeavors of mastering his Bankai. Known well for damaging his body in the abilities granted to him by his shikai's release, the cloak was specially crafted by the Twelfth Division renowned scientist, Nyuraku Kurotsuchi. Woven from remnants of the Togabito that plagued Karakura Town retrieved by Shoumetsu Takahiro, the cloth alone is capable of withstanding the flames of Hell. In addition to his captain's requests, the cloak is capable of withstanding extreme temperatures, whilst keeping heavy amounts of physical and Reiryoku-based damage entailed from attacks of both offenders to be dulled, so long as he pours equal force of his own prowess into it. The explosive capabilities of his Zanpakuto is prevented from further harm to his own body due to its insulated fibers woven into the threads. Among those requests, the garment is considerably weighted, mimicking the idea of his Captain's Ginjōtan (銀条反, "Stripe of Inverted Silver"). The weight is unknown as to him, and knowledgeable only to his Captain, and only able to be manipulated on her accord, much to his chagrin as she changes it the moment it appears that he doesn't seem to struggle. Since having received it from Captain Yugure, she's been more than adamant of having it adorned at all times, otherwise he'd have to face a punishment that he'd never look forward to.

Denreishinki X (伝令神機, Divine Messenger Machine)
An updated version of the Denreishinki. Though given new and updated features and design it retains the base function of the old one. It is a device used by numerous Shinigami stationed in the Human World. It allows direct two-way communication between a Shinigami in the Human World and a person in Soul Society. Shinigami can receive orders via the device in text form, which they are alerted to by the device's distinctive beeping. The device contains a system similar to a radar or GPS tracking system for Hollow detection.

Hidarugami Kōsoku (ヒダル神拘束, Hunger God’s Restraints)
An upgrade from his normal seal patch. These appear as four bracelets that are typically hidden beneath the bindings that he wears around his arms. Each of which work to hold back a portion of Hiroka’s spiritual power individually. The last of them having the most important job of keeping back the flood that waits on the other side of the dam. The Hidarugami Kōsoku are able to be removed either by simply taking them off or by a sudden spike in spiritual energy at the vents beneath them. That jolt of pressure releases their locks and sends them bolting off from his wrists. He knew that having a seal that could be shed in increments was so much more useful than one that is all or nothing like his now obsolete Yūgure no Hiru (夕暮れのヒル, Dusk Leech).

Gigai (義骸, Faux Body)
Gigais are artificial bodies which are used for a variety of reasons by Shinigami within the World of the Living. It is currently unknown when exactly the first Gigai was formed and by whom. However, it is known Gigais existed at least 101 years ago, as Kisuke Urahara was known to be experimenting with different variations of Gigai for several reasons.

Tsuki no Kyū (月の球, Moon Spheres)
Developed using highly condensed metal, these marble-like objects carry a surprising amount of weight. Often kept in a holster on Hiroka's hip or hidden within his cloak, they are within quick access. A single sphere contains a weight that equates to dozens of times its size. They are also unlikely to be cut by blades, It is more likely to be deflected if contact is made, assuming that the weight and force are greater within the clash.

divider_for_Hiroka.jpg

Tendoriru o Tanoshimu (テンドリルを楽しむ, Reveling Tendrils)
A set of wrappings that can be manipulated using Reiryoku. These strands of cloth are made of an unusually durable material that has proven to withstand most flames or severing actions. They are commonly worn on the arms but can be incorporated into other locations. A fighting style was developed by Hiroka Ikari that is used to extend the range of Zanjutsu.

After continued development the bindings have been weaved with metallic fibers that not only further the structure of these but also adding an increased thermal conductivity. Their make-up bends around swords that try to cut them, making it less likely to be cut by a slash, instead a persistent sawing action would prove to be a lot more effective. They hold a unique property to rapidly heat without reaching a melting point which can lead to extreme burning to those restricted by them. Furthering the amount of Reiryoku that these bindings absorb exponentially increases their durability and holding strength. Heavily charging these bindings can easily subdue almost any subject. Continuing to tighten the grasp can even break or sever the limbs that are bound. A command from Hiroka through him feeding the bandages can also lead to those within their grasp feeding into the strength of them.

"Hmm... Needs more Shishito."

➤ Hiroka has dedicated most of his time over the centuries to his studies and training. Though what some may be surprised to know, he also has a deep appreciation for nature and music. He appreciates the stillness of the world around him, something that rarely is free to exist in his life. If not but for that moment, it grounds him. Allowing him for a brief time to disassociate from any feelings or tasks and just live in that moment, devoid of external burdens. As for his liking of music, he has found another outlet from his stress in the form of playing the Sanshin and the Koto. It is rare that he has time for this recreational activity but his proficiency with them is quite impressive. Something that truly carried over from his childhood, a secret pleasure of sorts.

Where the Suneater is capable of being stationary, he does not enjoy it. Inaction and waiting are some of the most blaring things that arouse annoyance in him. It doesn’t matter what occupies him but simply sitting on his hands irritates him. This is born from the desire not to be wasting time. He will do everything in his power to occupy himself to make the most of his time. On top of those, he also has a great hatred for those who express arrogance. Regardless if the individual can back that mannerism, it is something he always sees as distasteful. There is a place to be prideful in one’s abilities and achievements, but stepping beyond that into a place of weighing that over another is disgusting. Very little actions will result in him genuinely disliking someone, but such hubris is certainly one of them. Modesty from the great is something to admire.

Being someone who harnesses destructive power and a fierce persona, one may find it peculiar that he has an affinity for plant maintenance. Fitting for him to be knowledgeable in gardening given his appreciation for nature, he has become accustomed to taking care of various flora. Keeping a few in his place of sleep and caring for them allows him to always have that thing that brings him a bit of peace. Something that he has to keep in check and sees daily.

When it comes to his culinary preferences, Hiroka enjoys things that are spicy and or sour. He enjoys the harshness that comes from such foods. He has not been known to truly be phased by such treats but to him, it adds so much more dimension to a dish. Just as it may be surprising that he has an appreciation for nature or playing instruments, it is to be noted that he is a rather excellent chef. Another trait that he was raised with that rarely gets to be used. Though maybe with his move to the Ninth and his close proximity to one of the most gluttonous of the Shinigami this skill will see more light.

Hiroka is ambidextrous, meaning he is able to wield his weapon with either hand with the same proficiency. His dominant hand is that of his left though common forms tend to be taught with the right, making him often use said hand. Over the years, he has also learned to make use of his entire body to strike with his weapon. Even being able to use the spaces between his elbows and knees, as well as even his mouth to grasp and strike with a weapon. That isn’t to say it is a common occurrence, nor is it remotely a preference, but it is something that he can do.

Yasu Yūgure
is a former academy-mate and a long-standing friend to Hiroka. The duo reveled in being able to spar with one another using Hakea-Techniques. A lot of his inspiration for his hand-to-hand style came from adapting to Yasu's. She has certainly been one of the people that he is able to tolerate for more than a few moments. They kept in touch over the years but cemented a more steady line of communication sometime after her promotion to Captain. Their interactions before, during, and after the Games led to new possibilities. Her offer for him to be her Lieutenant came with much surprise but he welcomed the idea. Not for the sake of heightened responsibility, but instead the opportunity to forward himself as an individual. A change of scenery and duties could lead to much needed growth. And surely with Yasu’s nature, she’d ensure that he’d achieve plenty of progress. Although, the cost would certainly be high… she is notoriously mischievous.

Shoumetsu Takahiro
is a comrade of Hiroka and also a former academy-mate. Their bond is one that burns brightly within their collective desire for combat. One could define their relationship as blood brothers, though likely not what one would traditionally think from that title. The duo had developed over the years many ways of intermingling their fighting styles and Zanpakuto abilities. Such training and the application of that effort on the battlefield meant they were in frequent proximity. For Hiroka, he is likely the closest he’d get to having a brother. He wants nothing more than for Shoumetsu to succeed as well. Hoping that one day, when they have reached a peak, they can have a glorious battle to celebrate their achievements.

Katsuo Toshiyuki
was Hiroka's superior in his time within the Thirteenth Division. Their relationship was rather solid though it did linger more on the professional aspect. At the time Hiroka was rather focused on his growth and later the death of his twin. He wasn't really close to anyone outside of Katsuo during his time. As the subordinate to Katsuo, he did find himself interacting with him relatively often while on duty. If there was one thing that Hiroka respected of the now late Lieutenant, it was his optimism. Such a radiant trait was hard to come by in a place like the Seireitei. It is to be said though, that those that allow that light to blind them, meet an untimely end. And unfortunately for them, their fate was no different.

Jinnosuke Ueku
was the superior to Hiroka, leading the charge on the Eleventh while there was no Captain. Between Jinnosuke, Shoumetsu, and Hiroka, the trio exhibited the desire to not only strengthen themselves but to work in tandem. Each of them adding to the might of the squad through their unity. Hiroka himself considered him a friend, though also felt a stronger sense of rivalry with this man. One of the last interactions Hiroka had with him was one that was rather heated, leaving their relationship a bit fractured. Unfortunately, mending never got to take place with the eventual death of the Lieutenant while out on a mission in the World of the Living.

Mizu Sayuri
is the adoptive cousin of Hiroka. Their interactions have been limited as the Higasa family spent most of their time focusing on the raising of the Ikari twins. Not to mention the gap of age between them had created some unfamiliarity. There were times when the twins interacted with the Higasa but between teachings and noble duties, it came scarcely. Despite this, Hiroka has developed a relationship akin to a mild friendship to the younger soul. Given their natural born connection through his adoptive family, he has high expectations of the Sayuri’s son. This leads to times when he may seem a bit harsh in his treatment towards him, but his intent only lies in trying to further Mizu’s growth. Besides… A few scars adds character.

Nibui Ueki
was the former Lieutenant of Hiroka during the end of his time in the Eleventh Division. Their time spent active in the field together was rather short, however, he respects the man as if he had seen his actions for a lifetime. Their first real direct interactions was through their deployment to the World of the Living to resolve one of two crisis', one specifically located in Naruki. Ever since that day, Hiroka had sought and exchanged any information for the potential growth of the control of the higher end of their seemingly limitless spiritual reserves.

Omoni Hageshi
the former Captain of the Suneater. Just as with Nibui, their time together was short. From what he had witnessed she was not a natural speaker but housed the capacity to still use those words to rally her troops. There was just something about the way those things had been said. The most extensive interaction the two had was during their bout in the Kenpachi Games, alongside his current Captain, Yasu Yūgure. The battle was heated to say the least. And although it was certainly one to behold it ended with a withdrawal from both himself and the pink-haired Captain. The decision to step down was one that made sense for Hiroka but may have come off as a place of weakness within the battle-centric leader. That potential sentiment did not waver his opinion towards the enigmatic Oni, but it had been something that crossed his mind at least initially. If he had decided to remain within the Eleventh after that surrender, how would their relationship be? All he could do with his back turned to the division he had called home for so long, was hope that the promises this new Captain made for a new-era of the Eleventh would come to be.
