”WE’RE LOSING THEM! NURSE, HOLD THEM WHILE I RELIEVE THE PRESSURE!”
The stressed and tired voice of the doctors shouts his orders to the surrounding medical staff, working painstakingly to save the life of the patient lying helplessly on his operating table. He is just one of many. The hospital is flooded with the sick, the injured and the dying — their numbers higher than ever due to the mysterious tragedy that befell Naruki City four days ago. Every able hand, every Doctor, every Nurse, every CNA and expert called in to assist wherever they could however they could. With such a terrible tragedy it was all hands on deck.
The medical staff fill nearly every hall on every floor, and still they are grossly outnumbered in comparison to not only the many patients, but their concerned loved ones as well. Many seek answers, others turning to the hospital for a sliver of hope. Desperate times indeed.
Beep...Beep
Within another room a young woman lays comatose in bed, her life maintained only by the various medical apparatus attached to her. A young man waits outside, clearly broken at the sight before him. Unable to help her, unsure as to whether or not she could even hear him if he spoke to her, if she’d ever open her eyes again he sits in a cold seat of depression. He’s never felt so weak...so..powerless.
Beep...Beep
STEP STEP STEP
Amongst the noise, the hustle and bustle of the crowded halls are the steps of, from the sound of it a grown adult male. He strolls past various nurses pushing carts of pills and tools, around patients yet to be seen by anyone. A clipboard tucked away under his left arm, crimson locks swaying and bouncing with every step.
Step..Step-
”You must be the boyfriend. I can’t imagine what you’re going through but trust we’re going to do all we can to help her.”
The young man looks up weary eyed towards the doctor. He was exhausted, lacking even the strength to voice a response. He sighs, turning his focus back onto his girlfriend, lying quietly, lifelessly in the bed. The doctor steps up to the glass, staring at the comatose woman, uttering not a word for several minutes.
”Come with me sir, it won't be long. I just want to draw some blood, run some tests to make sure you’re in good health and perhaps...a transfusion may potentially help this strong young woman.”
The man’s eyes peer up, hesitation in his eye as he gazes past the doctor towards his beloved. He didn’t want to be away from her side, not even for a moment should she open her eyes. As if reading the young man’s mind the doctor approaches him, resting a reassuring hand on his shoulder, speaking with a voice just as kind, just as gentle.
”Don’t worry, I promise you it won't take up much of your time. Okay?”
Glancing back at his girlfriend once again, he gives the doctor a nod, forcing himself up to his feet. The two walk side by side, steps perfectly in sync. They make their way down the farthest end of the hall before rounding the corner stopping at a door. The doctor takes hold of the door handle, turning it and pulling the door ajar. Giving a nod towards the young man he opens the door further guiding him in, shadowing him inside the room. The door closes quietly and then-
THUD-THUD-BANG
There is a brief commotion, the sound of something bumping against wall after wall before finally..silence. Nearly five minutes elapse before finally the handle of the door turns once again, and the doctor steps out...alone. Adjusting his coat he secures the door behind him, tucking hands into his pockets as he strolls further down the hall, away from the room where the girlfriend lies.
"He took them too… it feels like a dream but Avillo took my powers… the fire, the flames-”
Passing by a certain room the doctor stops outside the door, away from their visual scope. He listens a bit longer at the pained voice of a man deprived of strength, clearly lost at his current state. He takes a glance at his clipboard, flipping through page after page, scouring the list of names on this particular floor until he finds the room he was looking for.
”Tsukune Furaiyori huh.”
He mutters quietly to himself before he proceeds on. Tucking the clipboard back under his arm he continues to scour the halls, vanishing amongst the mass of doctors, patients, and all manner of nurses and physicians. With so much going on, with still so much to be done there was little time for one to bother with idle chit chat, leaving the wandering man to his own devices...whatever they may be.
