The young girl just stood there silently, listening to the man’s views on battle. She really liked his answer and how he delivered it. At that moment, she wished she could take her answer back. Of probably not have been so naive in the first place. This lead her to cast her head up high and roll her eyes just a little. Not at him. But more at herself. This person definitely wasn’t like Himari who didn’t have experience. He had it.
And Himari Envied him just a little bit by it.
As the entered the training room, Himari stayed silent. She also didn’t really look either of them in the eye. Only when Tenzen started laying out details did she lookup. At this moment he looked more like a captain then anything she had seen from him in the past.
What she didn’t expect was for Tenzen to suddenly go and attack Arashi. Her eyes widened as he went and placed his attack, she quickly that she almost didn’t notice it, right in the middle of his eyes. She was about to ask what was going on, but she caught the glance of Tenzen and she got it.
Right.
This was her chance to decide what she wanted to do. She could gain up on Arashi who was already being attacked by their captain. It would be easy. But. She gripped at her Zan in thought. But, she could also attack Tenzen. She could make this a training of what she would do if a foe were to attack her comrade. Even if she couldn’t do much to Tenzen. It was more like Himari to help a comrade. She greeted her teeth.
She didn’t want to use Kori. So she made her choice that instant, she rushed towards Tenzen before she quickly did one of her favorite Hakuda techniques from the academy ‘Gatling Mad-Stomping’ she quickly extended her leg and began to stomp on Tenzen’s arm and also the side of his face. If he were to let her continue with this, she would deliver the final blow, kicking him in the chin that would probably send him flying well enough across the room and away from Arashi,

So in tune, Arashi paid attention closely to the Captain’s reiatsu, the fluctuation more than anything else. He did not need to see the excitement that knocked at the door to know that his words had brought a grin upon his face. Though the Captain hides it physically, not only did his reiatsu give it away, but so did his eyes. They themselves, being the windows to his soul. He struggled to maintain a proper composure. The Captain at this moment can hide nothing from Arashi. Hiding expressions and emotions has been something he has done all his life. Able to notice the subtle details that it takes to prevent it. Still, it is nice to know that the Captain is appeased by his answer, but it did not go unnoticed, his first answer did not get the same reaction…
Captain Oda responds…
"Suta-san... That second answer was wonderful. From the time we are born into this world to the time we are torn away from it, we are engaged in battle. I was raised on this belief, trained with it, and until the day I die, I shall live with it. I am trying to establish that mentality into this Division that is why everyone you see is on edge. My goal is to instill a sense of battle readiness in this Division so that no matter what happens, no matter where they are, should an invasion take place we will be able to respond and cut down the threat."
Spoken as a true Oda, Arashi will know nothing of this. However, the warrior concept is clear. It does explain to the edge that every member had, even upon his arrival. To make them aware of their surroundings, their every move. A slight shift of his head, he nods. Now the time approaches. What he perceived to be a test, along with it being a lesson. Captain Oda is the proctor, the enemy, the judge. Even without stating that he is such, his role is without a doubt. Definite
Arashi maintains a casual nature, but just as easy as it is to flip a coin, such causality can change in an instant. Though the statement stands, his blade is drawn even though it still sits within the scabbard. His guard has been up the entire time, well before he stepped foot into the barracks. His senses working in tow, having expanded through the training room the instant his foot touched the floor of this new environment. Once his gaze finished laying the area, his attention returned to Captain Oda. He began his instruction, the rules, the objective.
"Zankensoki (「斬」「拳」「走」「鬼」, Cut-Fist-Run-Spirit) This is a term you may have heard in the Academy it represents the four forms of combat we Shinigami use. Zan: sword combat, Ken: Hand to hand or Hakuda, So: mobility techniques or Shunpo, and lastly what this Division and Kido Corps excel in Ki: Kido. While we excel in Kido I do not think we should focus on that alone. Should someone close the gap between you and them you will be forced to use Zanjutsu or Hakuda. So today we will be focusing on those two, which means no Shunpo and no Kido. We can do a free-for-all or you two can team up and fight against me. -
Reiterating the teachings of the Academy. Lessons that have been burned into the web of his mind, stuck far greater than the purpose of glue and duct-tape. Somethings are never to be forgotten, what he speaks are indeed on that list. What his goal is, becomes clear, and though the understanding of kido is important Arashi is not able to use. Not even the practice of Shunpo can be exerted. Resorting to Hakuda and Zanjutsu, one Arashi has mastered in his past field of work. Now he must summon the knowledge and experience in Hakuda to best Captain Oda. No easy feat…
Captain oda continues…
- Lastly, Suta-san, your first answer is lacking. Worrying about if they are a friend or foe, wanting to make a sanctioned sparring match worrying about those things causes hesitation. Let's use Shirogane for an example, would you have tried to cut him down for his obvious treachery or would you have tried to understand him first?"
A fair point… Arashi can see that his question is geared towards the enemy, whether they are a comrade, friend, family, it did not matter. Arashi had another question to answer now, one that will undoubtedly weigh on his mind. With no immediate answer, his smile begins to disappear slowly, his eyes opening just a bit for his gaze to be revealed to both Himari and Tenzen. What they will see, what they will feel. Is utter silence; no expression of anger, doubt, worry, confusion.
The tension becomes palpable, intensified further by the gaze that Arashi carries. His point is made. The point is caught and understood before it is dissected and instilled into his brain. A chance to think about another answer, yet- again, even Himari, though indirectly. Arashi understood, but he did not have an answer. He will not verbally express this…
Captain Oda’s eyes become a glare in the direction of Arashi, he speaks his final statement…
"If you want to fight someone, you just attack."
Simple, yet, a calling to battle. It seemingly became the catalyst for the first strike. Captain Oda Dashes towards Arashi, no hesitation, no hindrance in his advancement. His statement becomes an instruction and in tandem, becomes an action. A lesson made to be learned in the heat of the moment. Arashi’s smile, once diminishing, returns. His eyes once opened, closes. The spiritual pressure of Captain Oda channeled and focused. He felt this, and he saw this all the same. Through the slits of his eyes, he could see clearly. His hand though opened, closed, Arashi is not fooled by this action. He did not believe that Captain Oda would betray the rules he has set, but the enemy is not honorable and with that in mind, he is at the ready.
The focal point of strength, the extended knuckle, aimed to strike between Arashi’s eyes. Arashi had put himself in motion, his left foot coming forward as the coming fist/knuckle is inches away from striking. Ashi drops his center of gravity, the Captain’s fist and along with his arm goes whizzing over the top of his head, tracing along his hair. Whooosh!, the seamless speed of Ashi’s movements fluid and without fault. Concurrently to him lowering himself, his right hand moves in utter silence and at an unprecedented speed, wrapping around the handle. His next movement performed within the movement he had just performed, side-stepping with his left foot taking the lead. He pivots upon said foot to get to Captain Oda’s left side, just as his strike is missing. The goal to catch him in mid-action…
Arashi remained in close, drawing his sword in tandem. NOT to slash and cut the Captain, but to strike with the top of the handle. Onibi A Zanjutsu skill used to strike with a blunt surface. Arashi’s spiritual energy is channeled in great droves, instantaneously to the impact point of his weapon. While the devastating force of this attack is meant to leave a massive hole, Captain Oda would receive a bruise upon the surface and a couple fractured ribs upon contact and in tow be sent away from Arashi with unrelenting force. Arashi’s action working in unison. With mastered control in all his actions there is no lack of skill or focus upon the precision of his strike and movements. They could change, within the fraction of a second.
His reiatsu remained tucked away, refined and sharpened. His intelligence and thought process the same. He knew well even in the midst of his performance that Captain Oda did not attack aimlessly. The moment his blade is drawn whether the attack lands or not, the blade of Hoshizora has already disappeared, faster than the eye can blink. His blade is broken into bits and pieces of light that work at high speeds to spread across the room, hidden within the lighting. He release his Shikai without speaking a single word. He’d still sheath his ”blade” as if there is one still, in tow he would continue to move even as he strikes, getting to the Captain’s blind side, remaining close until the time comes where he doesn’t need to be. Which will be soon to come. His zanpakuto, remained as is, giving the illusion that he had not released his Shikai, but the Captain in all his intelligence battle sense, he will notice that the room has become undoubtedly brighter.
In the midst of this, even through the questions, the instructions, the explanations. Himari remained quiet. Her presence did not go unregistered for her decision will determine if this will be a free-for-all or a two on one altercation. She hesitated... Her thoughts weigh on her ability to act. She is stuck for the moment, contemplating her next move, well, her first move… By now, Captain oda had already struck, Arashi had already made his move in a counter attack against him. If she hesitates like this in training, she will surely die at the hands of her enemy, but she must make her mistakes in training, so that she doesn't die in combat.
Her decision has been made, making an ally out of Arashi Suta. At least for the moment that is, but just like Captain Oda who has been struck by his attack or not, they both will find themselves surrounded by the light, that is his shikai. If Captain Oda had any recollection of what his Zanpakuto can do from two months ago, then he will quickly understand just how dangerous he can truly be… Arashi remains vigilant, his stance centered, but very easily mobile. His right hand remained around the handle. Never did his natural expression leave his face. Quite frankly, he is enjoying himself...

Tenzen is glad that these two are taking this seriously, especially Himari. Based on Arashi's answer he knew how he'd react to being attacked suddenly but to see Himari take the initiative to strike at him with Arashi was exactly what he was looking for. Fighting as a team is equally important as fighting as an individual, there should be no shame in helping an ally gang up on a stronger foe, as Tenzen was taught; fight for survival above all else. The time for reflection is brief as he now makes his next move to counter Arashi. His fist flies filled with strength to put Arashi out of commission early on and as he expected this straightforward attack would be avoided, he honestly would have been rather disappointed if it had connected. With fluid movements that see him flow like the air itself, Arashi drops to avoid the punch and continues this movement by shifting himself to the left side of his Captain where the open palm lay in wait. Tenzen looks forward to get a visual on both of them in his peripherals, a strategy is formed in a moment more fleeting than a pop of a bubble. He left-hand moves, his index finger and middle finger remain extended while the others close together with his hand flowing with accuracy and finesse to meet the pommel of Arashi's hilt. The young man's purposely restrained Onibi is met with the full force of Captain Oda's Tsukiyubi the force of this attack sends the young man flying back several meters, skidding along the ground like a tossed pebble.
The Oda's eyes narrow a bit like morning light filling the curtains of a dark room and causes it to brighten he notices the room's glow has intensified. He hasn't forgotten Himari while analyzing the room her attack was the only one not calculated into his plans, but as he often does, he left enough wiggle room in them to defend himself and that wiggle room was the fact that his punch was going to miss. His forearm raises up and falls almost flush against his bicep as he flexes the muscles in his arm to brace for the rapid assault of kicks from the girl whilst also protecting his head. Her conviction to act was there he felt that, however, he also felt the lack of strength in her kicks and he began to understand what she meant by her attacks will be messy. He uses this to his advantage, shifting his body weight to the right side as his right arm explodes outward tossing the girl back and away from him by using her kicks against her waiting for a single foot to firmly plant itself against his arm before sending her off and away from him. He remembers her saying that she has a bad temper and he wonders if that could aid her in combat, not all temper related outbursts are negative sometimes they can awaken an uncanny focus within an individual. Distance was created once more but now they should be on high alert seeing how Tenzen is not pulling his punches. Without looking at him he begins speaking to Arashi.
"What did I just say Arashi? Worrying about if they are a friend or foe causes hesitation. Your attack failed because you LACKED conviction to hurt me. If I were your enemy a scorch mark on the ground and residual Hado energy is all that would be left of you. You too Himari, your hesitation could have cost Arashi his life and your own. However, this is not a blame game as you both did things that would have sealed your fate individually. But I am glad you both responded the way you did, keep that up for this next exchange... Kokūzō"

He draws his Zanpakuto, calling out its name to trigger the Shikai, the Wakizashi collapses into energy wrapping around his left hand and connecting to the pommel of his Katana that changes its shape into a Nodachi. A plume of golden mist hits the ground and surrounds Tenzen from head to toe the moment it was released, it was more than obvious his Zanpakuto was protecting him, but from what? The golden mist is thick and it shrouds Tenzen within it, his form barely visible within it his Reiatsu signature then vanishes as the plume of golden mist spreads slowly creeping towards Himari and Arashi. Having reviewed their last exchange with them he hopes they correct the things he pointed out to them, so, this time he decides to be the defender and let them be the aggressors. However, what was Tenzen planning within this mist, was he even still at the epicenter of this mist? Himari and Arashi will have to find out by striking at the mist that is creeping along the floors and spiraling around Tenzen.

Central ———————————— traveling from ———————————— Rukongai
The trek back to the First Division was a quiet one, or at least she hoped it to be. Silently making her way back, Akarui felt an odd chill running along her skin. Not as if she was expecting an ambush at any time, but she didn’t know exactly what it was that was making her feel so anxious to return home. Her usual stoic expression was beginning to falter the closer she neared the gates.
Idly glancing around, those emerald orbs scanned the horizons to see the first division members moving around as they should be, tending to their duties and chatting amongst themselves. Upon seeing her figure come through those gates, those directly beneath her came to greet her properly, and she managed a single nod.
“You’re working diligently. Has something happened?”

“Ah, Gekkō-san, welcome back. Apparently Mochizuki-san has returned from his mission. He’s currently reporting to the Captain Commander.”
c8e99faafaac883174b9fa080aeb95ba.png

Crossing her arms over her chest, she suppressed that outburst that so desperately wanted to escape. Everyone was in a good mood, and she was rather ecstatic about having Yami back, but the reasons for it were unknown to anyone but the Commander as he was receiving the report. By all means, Yami wasn’t supposed to return so soon. It’d only been two years since he was dispatched to Hell. Knowing the brute, he’d have loved his time in that wretched environment, constantly fighting to no end…
But something had come up, and it was imminent that he reported to the Commander after such a short amount of time spent.
“I see. Continue on. I have to take this idiot to the Commander to make sure he does his report.”
She nodded back towards Kiku had he been right behind her and then continued her way towards the Commander’s throne room. With each step, she felt them getting lighter and much quicker. Was she really this excited to see her sparring partner after so long?

“Gomenasai, Gekkō-san. Mochizuki-san has already departed to Fourth to heal his injuries.”
“Is that so?”

Though Akarui’s face was kept neutral, she couldn’t hide the disappointment in her voice as she passed one of the passing members of the first division that happened to catch her eye. Most of these individuals knew of the type of relationship that the fourth and sixth seats of the division had considering that somehow, those passing by got hit in the aftermath. Scratching at the back of her neck, Rui turned right back around and headed back out to patrol the grounds of the barracks. Zanpakuto holstered against her hip, it swayed with every step taken as she scouted the grounds for stragglers and slackers.
While stragglers were practically nonexistent, the slackers were more than they should be, and it often left Rui’s blood boiling to see members of her own division so carefree, unseated or not. To her, it was a slap to the face, seeing them move so carelessly. Even if the First Division was more or less the last to arrive unless ordered otherwise, having the discipline to act orderly in the confines of their own barracks was adamant. Just as she began to step towards those slackers, a flash of black flitted across her field of vision and she immediately recognized the standard hell butterfly. Seeing it was rather peculiar considering that the majority of the Gotei Thirteen possessed denreishikis. Hell butterflies were now one of the rarest forms of communication, but if someone sent it, then it just meant the matters were important.
Holding her hand out, the messenger landed on her index finger and she listened to the relayed message.
“Akarui Gekkō, I, Yami Mochizuki, am to relay Commander Murasaki’s orders for you to fortify the First Division Barracks in preparation of the oncoming Captain’s Meeting. That is all.”
And with that, it flew away from her.
Finally...
Something else to do.
Pursing her lips, Rui released a shrill whistle that echoed throughout the barracks and in front of her landed five individuals, including the purple-haired shinigami from before. With their hands behind their backs, they gazed down at their Head Guardsman and awaited her orders as they heeded her call. Despite all of her screaming and strictness, they followed her without much else of a complaint.
“Order from the Commander: Fortify the barracks. We’re to expect the Captains only.” At the mention of the Commander, Rui could see them visibly stiffen and nod in response. “If they decide to bring an entourage, deny access of any kind to the extra party. Should any difficulties arise, deal with them appropriately. Break.”
One by one, they faded from her sight, and she too left the vicinity of that area to find herself standing before the main hall where the meeting would indefinitely be held as it always has. Eyes moving, and ears twitching, she listened to the sounds around her, though more particularly on her five subordinates. In turn, they did as they were told, directing those stragglers to move in accordance with the preparations regarding the incoming captains. having anyone remotely coming across this meeting in any fashion would result in their death. Other than Akarui, no one would be close enough to the main hall to even manage a peek at the secrets they discuss.
“All captains under one roof... From the reports, the Second Division has been on the wrong side of the spectrum these past five months against everyone else. Wonder how they'll perform in front of the commander.”
Clapping her hands together, a gentle humming began. Circulating around her in gentle wisps, the air began to twist and rustle against her clothes and hair. Taking a single round to inspect the area around the main hall, Rui dug into the depth of her coat's sleeve and pulled out a small bottle filled with a red tint and popped the cap off before taking a long sip. While this drink would be the bane of anybody else's existence, Akarui enjoyed the gentle burn her own concoction employed, soothing yet fierce. Coming back around to the entrance of the hall, she placed the empty bottle back in her sleeve for the next refill to come. Emerald orbs scanned the horizons, locking in on her five subordinates and confirming that their parts of the barracks were locked down.
Hands at her sides, she waited patiently for the arrival of the captains, to give her proper greetings, and guard the hall properly from outsiders.
