All of that for a single drop of blood.
Yasu felt her skin crawl at the sight of the Commander, and she felt her foot drag back as the smoke began to subside. She wipes away the blood that threatens to get into her eyes, smearing the dark color across her forehead with her sleeve. Higen’s thunderous laughter shakes the foundation, but Yasu manages to find a steady stance that roots her in as the swamp locks around her calves.
“What a monster. Are we sure that our roles aren’t switched around?”
The girl has no retort.
Yasu continues prowling along the outskirts, quietly observing and she continues steadily disrupting the playing field. The rage that stews inside of the FIfth Division captain are clear cut. Having seen his devastating attacks land back to back against the warmonger that leads all shinigami ultimately to fail and only result in a minuscule amount of damage would send anyone into a frenzy of hatred and loathing. While certainly not his all, the disappointment was still the same, and even the coveted Kidō Chief was finding it troublesome to deal with the Commander.
If kidō nor hakuda stood a chance against the Commander, then what would be left to deal him a hand? Clearly, the two other vizards had an idea of sorts, but neither was what she was well-versed in compared to others. The palpable aura around the Monk’s blade is translucent, thickly coating the silver sheen as he moves to grasp his weapon with both hands. However, zanjutsu was just as dangerous as hakuda. Close-quarters-combat against the green titan fared not too well for her and blood continued to drip from the deep gash in her forehead and out of her nose.
Mercy was not in this man’s vocabulary.
Yasu takes gliding steps across her sea of black yet stops when the lieutenant decides to finally make his move and she dares not to impede on his performance. Faded purple orbs watch in wonder as to what the man would do all in his lonesome. Perhaps it was the mask that boosted his blindness when charging directly towards the commander in fury. Even his captain had chosen to take into consideration what had just happened to her, and while limited, still chooses to gather and observe what he can. Perhaps it was selfish of him, watching his loyal lieutenant absentmindedly take the brunt force of what card Higen would have left to play. The endgame was near. Whether he would choose to lay waste to them now or prove that his proclamation with the Central 46 was successful had yet to peek through the clouds. For now, she would slowly recover and wait. If he is to be defeated, she would find an opportunity, and she has no doubts that his superior wouldn’t take the chance to do the same.
“Yasu. What will you do?”
She response in silence. She has to keep a level head, otherwise, she would risk something dangerous.

The Seventh Division’s endurance and resolve has been tested this day, perhaps moreso than any other day with the exception of the time during the time the Kototsu escaped the Dangai, demanding the intervention of the now Captain Commander to save not only the Rukongai, but perhaps the entire Soul Society. Their journey sees these souls, united by duty, driven towards tragedy as they discovered a body, the body believed to be their Captain tossed aside like trash within one of the worst districts in the Rukongai. Pained, it is Lieutenant Ise’s subordinates who anchor her back to reality and exactly what it is she should focus on. Collecting the mangled corpse they swiftly return to the Seireitei only to be stopped at the Western Gate by the Guard. He believes there is a threat out there, and rightfully so, but in his caution he abandons the motley crew to the wolves, awaiting the Lieutenant of his respective Division to come and make the call. Shusuke Kiyoshi is summoned. While time is of the essence the Lieutenant squanders it, further postponing Atsuko’s desperate and much needed audience with the Commander.
Michi at the Sixth Division has returned, and what she finds at her barracks...is chaos. The remnants of a training exercise that so quickly devolved into an all out fight under the guise of a spar leaves the young Kiyoshi with even more questions than she anticipated needing the answers to. Her superior, injured and unconscious, a man who once would have been called comrade lay captured, his fate and future uncertain, a single Lieutenant’s badge, charred and ruined from a destructive blast...and two degenerates from the Eleventh Division. Having been absent for the entirety of the events that took place she is left to assume the worst unless proven and revealed otherwise.
The Vizards; Victims, outcasts, warriors — fighting to prove their worth, to prove they had a right to live. For one hundred years they’ve battled against the Commander and themselves. They were beaten, battered, healed and broken again. With each failure came knowledge and enlightenment, sharpening their skills and abilities until finally, they succeed in drawing blood. As minor a wound as it was, it was a monumental achievement for the three of them..whether they realized it or not.
How appropriate was it then, that just as everything was culminating into its climax, that the Second Division should arrive. The Onmitsukido with Kyomu at their head, move as a single cohesive unit. Their numbers act as a shield to those in their custody, leaving any potential onlookers with little more than questions as to what the Stealth Force was up to. Unlike Honoka’s previous act and intention, Kyomu does not parade the woman about as some trophy or achievement, he holds no desire to try and humiliate the woman as she is escorted towards her fate. He travels, taking the quickest and most direct path towards the First Division barracks. Gathered in such large numbers, the skittish and paranoid may well believe the Phantom is making yet another attempt on another Commander’s life. However the Captain is strategic in his actions, moving and adjusting the formation just enough for the fugitive Oki to be seen. One glimpse of Honoka is enough to alert the First Division of the situation, revealing the nature and purpose behind Kyomu’s visit. If this was still insufficient there was his other card to play. Third seat Akarui Gekko of the First Division, or as she may well be known by her other title; the Commander’s Wife. The formation moves once more, just subtle enough to where the smaller woman could be seen, and in the company of the children to boot. Given how she reacted towards Honoka back at the Oki compound, Kyomu expects Akarui to be more of a help than a hindrance now that they were back in the Seireitei and at her barracks.
”We’ve come to see the Commander.”
It’s only once the entirety of his entourage is safely secured behind the walls of the first division barracks does Kyomu speak. His arrival is timely, and coincidental being that his former Lieutenant was still present on the grounds in the company of the Commander, along with Captain Oda, the older brother of one of the individuals detained and brought to stand before the Commander. A former Head Lieutenant, a current Lieutenant, the Commander’s wife and child. Many important factors, all reasons to express the urgency of informing Higen of their arrival.
How would Kyomu react to seeing Yasu, who he has avoided and ignored for a whole Century? What of Tenzen, who’s brother stands bound for entangling himself so willingly and foolishly with a fugitive, a traitor to the Seireitei? How would Higen react to both Kyomu and Akarui’s report, and what choice would he make regarding the fate of not only the boy, but the others as well? Perhaps the only person outside of Akarui who needn’t fear the Commander’s verdict, was Saiko who finds herself an unfortunate victim of circumstances while in the presence and company of the very man meant to properly lead and guide her, Katsuo Oda. Rather being the example of what to do, Katsuo instead will serve as an example on what not to do, and the importance and severity of the laws and morals of the Gotei 13.
It would seem today was a teaching one for the denizens and soldiers of the Seireitei. For some, the lesson may be far harsher than for others.

Fuyuko sat where she had remained since dismissing Kasu, having gone through several books since then. For the most part, she was left undisturbed, that is until the entire barracks grounds rocked with a heavy explosion. She jolted from where she sat, the explosion from what she could tell, traced back to where Higen was. For the past century, she’s known about the three Vizards coming over to the Central Compound, and normally things remained quiet during this visit. This was a fact largely contributed to the barrier that surrounded them at the time. The fact she could feel something from over there, it meant the barrier had broken. She rose to her feet, should she go? If something went wrong the First Division needed to be ready to control the situation. It wasn’t that she didn’t believe her Captain could handle himself or whatever came his way, but should they really be so casual? If the Vizards had gone mad, had devolved into monsters driven only by instinct there’s no telling what destruction they’d face before they were put down.
She takes a moment...to breathe. She closes her eyes as she begins considering all the facts, playing through one scenario after another. As Head Lieutenant she needed to be efficient, but couldn’t come off as being brash and impulsive either. She needed a way to go, and assess the situation without being seen as jumpy. If she did arrive in full force and nothing was wrong, she could be perceived as being an impulsive and easily frightened woman.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
The fates answer her call for an answer in the form of a subordinate of the First Division. He knocks at the door to announce his presence before taking a knee before the Lieutenant. She opens her eyes, casting her gaze down on the kneeling shinigami.
”MA’AM! We’ve just received word that..well, it's Captain Mukuro of the Second Division ma’am. He’s arrived at the barracks with a large gathering of the Onmitsukido.”
This bit of information with nothing else to add can easily be taken out of context. If one was impatient and listened to this piece alone, they would perceive the Captain as attempting yet another Coup d'état. Fuyuko however, is in a unique position where she is one of the very few who knows and understands the man better than those ruled by their fears of him along with the rumors. She waits, surely there was more to be said. She was correct.
”It seems that, in their company is Former Head Lieutenant Honoka Oki, third seat Gekko along with her son and some other child I’ve never seen. Lieutenant Oda of squad Thirteen is with them along with his subordinate Saiko Junsui. Of the names I’ve mentioned, it appears...that the Oki and the Oda are the only one’s physically restrained and detained.”
Fuyuko’s eyes lit up the moment he mentioned that Honoka was with him. She’d been so worried about her friend and predecessor, then Akarui was with them too along with her cute little boy! She shelves her thoughts as reality begins to creep in the more names he mentions, and then...her mood shifts as she learns that Honoka was being detained. This meant she hadn’t freely returned...she wasn’t back because she missed them, Kyomu had brought her back.
”I’m going..”
Fuyuko leaves the room, traversing down the hallway, her pace quickening slightly as she moves. She’d go to receive everyone personally, this was a delicate situation that needed to be handled appropriately. She didn’t have time to delay.
”We’ve come to see the Commander.”
Kyomu, who has just arrived seemingly in force, announces his desire. One of the shinigami shows a noticeable scowl. His distrust and disliking of the Second Division Captain was rather apparent, the man doing nothing to hide his emotions. While he does not trust the Captain, he can’t ignore the man’s reasoning for coming, at the same time he knows the Commander is busy and doesn’t wish to be the one to bother him. He approaches the snake of a Captain, attempting to stall him best he can.
”The Commander is currently indisposed at the moment. No one is allowed to disturb him, I-”
”Step aside! what do you think you are doing?.”

The raven haired Vice Captain appears, intervening and making her presence known. She stands between Kyomu’s entourage and those gathered from her respective division in first. Her eyes look over at Kyomu at first locking eyes with him. From there her gaze shifts towards those gathered with him, Akarui, one of her fellow lieutenants Katsuo Oda. and a shinigami she hasn't met. Was she new? Fuyuko frowns, displeased with this turn of events. She had her own thoughts and questions she wanted answered, but for now there was little time to waste. She gestured with her hand, bidding them to follow her in entering further into the barracks, leading them towards a particular building.
”Come Captain Mukuro, let’s not delay this any longer. Lady Kagayaki, if you could be so kind as to please find and inform the Captain Commander of our arrival. You can tell him that we will be in the meeting hall. Thank you.”
In one fell swoop she has taken control of the situation. Escorting the Captain, discerning that whatever Akarui’s involvement is in the matter at hand, it is done with the knowledge of Commander Higen. Sending her off, she separates Akarui from the rest, allowing her to forewarn the Commander of what is happening, and perhaps giving him her own report or explanation to whatever all of….this is. From the expressions on the childrens’ faces there was no doubt that they saw something they shouldn’t have had to see at their age. Fuyuko’s eyes never meet or reach Honoka. Was it out of fear? Sadness? Anger or disappointment at her? Perhaps it was one of them, perhaps it was all of those things...perhaps it was none of them at all. The Head Lieutenant takes the lead, escorting them through the grounds of the proudest and most prestigious division out of the thirteen. It is a journey filled with silence, every step no doubt feeling heavier to those wondering what will become of them after today. The group is led towards massive double doors, two guards standing on either side. They are like statues in their stillness, yet the presence they exude is unquestionably dense and heavy.
”Open them”
A single command and the two turn as if they were statues attached to a swivel or some other mechanism. They press against the massive doors and push them open. The massive hall greets the eyes of Kyomu and those behind him. Fuyuko nods her head as she ventures inside, expecting everyone to follow. Into the meeting hall of the first division, into their final destination to await judgment. Judgement by the name of Commander Higen Kagayaki.

Save for the gentle sniffling coming from one of the two children in her arms, the other had fallen fast asleep out of pure exhaustion, and the entourage was otherwise silent during their travels. She was placed far from Honoka, for the sake of no contact with her son, all under the watchful eye of Kyomu Mukuro. Her cheek gently nuzzles the tops of their heads as they grow closer and closer towards the First Division, and Akarui can feel the uneasiness oozing off of observers that remember the events of the alleged coup. However, with her being visible to those in the crowd, they are in quiet relief and consider the situation handled in a sense, even amongst the multiple prisoners in detainment.
“We’re almost there, children.”
She whispers to them gently. Their dried tears stain their skin and are now visible to her as they lift their heads and she wishes she was able to clean their faces. Holding back a small frown, she turns her attention to the guardsmen that stood in front of the barracks, and at her appearance to the front of the masses, the passage was quiet and easy up until the Captain had spoken up without any room for question, yet there was a soul that dared to step up and deny him. At least she’d taught her subordinates well, however, his emotions were clear, and Akarui had made a mental note to discipline him later.
“We’ve come to see the Commander.”
“The Commander is currently indisposed at the moment. No one is allowed to disturb him, I-”
“Step aside! what do you think you are doing?”

A familiar voice booms with fervor, and the third seat watches as the Head Lieutenant arrives to receive their party. Haruki perks up at the sight of Fuyuko but stays in his mother’s arms. Masahiro is quiet, looking around with anxiousness at all of his new surroundings and all of these new faces, yet dares not look at his own mother. Akarui catches Fuyuko’s gaze and lowers her head in respect to the young girl even as she breaks her gaze and observes the others in custody.
“Come Captain Mukuro, let’s not delay this any longer. Lady Kagayaki, if you could be so kind as to please find and inform the Captain Commander of our arrival. You can tell him that we will be in the meeting hall. Thank you.”
“Yes, Head Lieutenant.”

Orders were given, and she would follow suit. Before she could do so, she would have to forfeit the children, however, she was unsure of who exactly to leave them to. With luck, she set her sights on Enji Aikawa, who had greeted them outside of the barracks to let them inside. She beckons him, and he comes swiftly, without argument. Haruki is as familiar with Enji as he is with Fuyuko, greeting the shinigami with respect, and Enji only smiles at him. As Enji’s attention turns to Masahiro, there is surprise and confusion, but with a single look from his superior, he thinks and holds his tongue. Placing the children down, Akarui kneels to be with them face-to-face before addressing them.
1a9884ca96bcdb02abeb9d7120d66f8d.png

“I understand that this is confusing, but you two need to be the best little boys that you can be, alright? I have work to do, but you will see me again very soon. Until then, Aikawa-san will stick with you, and you’ll treat him with the same respect, yes?”
The topic of Masahiro will surely be discussed promptly, however, his mother will be questioned first and foremost if she guesses correctly. He would be secured and watched over. A capable member of the First Division would overlook them until it was time, and on top of that, members of the Onmitsukidō, unless their Captain draws them back. However, they all resided within the First Division, an ultimate fortress within an even larger encampment of thousands of soldiers. Enji caters to the children with snacks as he guides them to a secure location, breaking away from the rest of the party, and Akarui is left in her lonesome for a moment in time before she too moves.
The Commander...
He was currently occupied with the Vizards, however, their session would end very quickly by the severity of the current situation. Higen had beaten and broken them over and over again for well over a century, and throughout that century, she'd worked generously and diligently to do as he had ordered her since that day. Her work had come to an end due to the impatience of the Central 46 since it was not her husband that had sent the order for the Mukuro boy to act as he did. Honoka returned albeit in cuffs, as did a couple of others that had gotten caught in the crossfire, however, to Akarui, they were hardly any concern: bugs that just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
7f708a981d293f503a3e35305ed33c9e.png

Akarui pulls out her device and checks if there have been any updates regarding the situation with the Vizards among the other little alerts that plagued her cracked phone. The 15th replacement had lasted rather long until recently, and she kept forgetting that she would have to get a new one. Confirming that they were still in battle, she makes her way over to the field of chaos, and with every step that she grew closer to that place, the bloodlust that oozed off of these four individuals were thickly palpable. If not for the current circumstances, she would normally be waiting at his office to give her report, but everything had begun to fall into place, and things were sped up much more quickly. This place was a mess, filled with black ooze and destruction. Blood wafted in the air, and the power struggle of those three against their Commander was more than apparent. From what she could see, her husband had to have been bombarded to look so ragged. Not wanting to jump into the fray to catch their attention, she chooses a simpler one. Exhaling softly, Akarui slowly begins to expound her reiatsu in gentle waves that are neither harmful nor destructive to her environment. Their concentration would break from each other to focus on the new entity that joins them in order to catch their attention.
“I apologize for the interruption, however, your attendance is necessary in the meeting hall, Commander Kagayaki. There is something that needs your immediate attention.”
It was time to stop as other things have become the Commander's new priority. Akarui calls out to him and bows her head down; her expression is filled with resignation. She does not wish to disclose anything as of yet, especially to the other ears that linger in the area. The woman stays unmoving otherwise, her hands at her sides, standing in wait of him.

Despite how talkative he was before, Katsuo was silent now, and didn't look too worried still. Honestly he was trying to keep calm for Saiko, who was unfortunate enough to be detained with him, which was something he didn't hope for. He'd glance over to Saiko and five her a reassuring smile at some points during their escort, and look over to the children and do the same, despite what the outlook was starting to seem. On the outside Katsuo seemed every but the warrior he was trained to be, but on the inside he was shaking… mostly for what his family would think… fraternizing with a traitor… a rogue… the very things that so many years ago they saved him from. He didn't feel Honoka was disloyal in the slightest to the seireitei despite who she loved and bedded with… for so long she had been nothing but loyal, like most here, being escorted now. Why does it matter so much if the child is Shobatsu's, he wondered…
Once they arrived at the Barracks of the first division, his boss, none other than head Lieutenant Fuyuko Kasumi, was there. Great. He took a deep breath and let out a sigh to calm his inner nerves… and looked over to Honoka as Fuyuko did, being best friends before… this was quite possibly an interesting reunion to witness… her best friend captured how she would feel, he wondered… he couldn't help but feel Sympathy for Fuyuko… unfortunately he put Tenzen in a similar situation by speaking to Honoka himself.
He watched in silence as the events unfolded before him, Akarui leaving and possibly going to break up the training session higen was having with the Vizards… it reminded him of what Tenzen was now… and slowly looking down, how far apart in terms of might and intelligence they are… he still contemplates why he was adopted, Tenzen was an Oda of pure blood, and… Katsuo felt the need to prove he could be one of nobility and rise to the challenge almost daily… though despite doing his job for the last 100 years, killing hollows in karakura, and being maimed by Yurui constantly he's felt nothing has changed mentally… that he was still the same on the inside… no amount of training and maiming can change that…
Once the group was done conversing, the escort was moved to the meeting hall… there Katsuo started devising a plan on what to say for what he'd done, but found himself having a hard time trying to explain it in ways someone would understand… Honoka was not only his brother's distant cousin but also, she was a good friend… at least that was how he felt. Her wisdom must have slipped during those 100 years however… seeing as she too was here now. He'd move slightly over to the former head lieutenant, and look toward her, she'd be the only one he'd show a glimmer of fear for in this small group of captives. She would probably know how much Katsuo risked to remain friends and try to create a better relationship between the Oki and the Oda...
