『Path of the Novice』0:1.5

One of the things that we must accept is that we can’t change everyone. People who don’t fit within the ideal system might feel left out.Their opinions aren’t heard simply because their ways differ too greatly from ours. When something gets changed, it affects not just our ideas, but ourselves personally, and sometimes our relatives too. Therefore, these individuals could become dissatisfied, which leads to frustration. What happens when a group of people start fighting against another group’s beliefs, values, and way of life? It might result in civil war. The people in favor of change usually want change, and those opposed to it see it as an attack upon everything that they hold dear. A leader plays an important role in shaping events and history. He or she shapes opinions of people and influences the course of events.Leadership involves having power of influence over many people and guiding them according to his or her beliefs. Great leaders guide their followers through tough decisions and give confidence through motivation. A follower loves a great leader because of respect for the leader's qualities, character and achievements. He knows that a great leader possesses ability, wisdom and justice. Most of the world’s population believe in fair play and reciprocity. They also believe that good sportsmanship is necessary for sports competitions. They also believe in the value of respect. A leader is somebody who inspires his followers to carry out important activities successfully. There are three fundamental ways through which leaders inspire action among followers, namely by setting goals, providing opportunities, and encouraging people to act. To become successful leaders, firstly, we need to understand the qualities required to be an effective communicator.Secondly, leaders must maintain a calm demeanor despite facing difficulties and setbacks. Thirdly, they must display integrity throughout life to build trust within the organization. Having weighed up all arguments, one can conclude that to lead others successfully, one needs certain attributes like passion, creativity, imagination and self knowledge. Moreover, one must understand oneself deeply too. He cannot leave himself alone in life without caring for him. The best way to achieve greatness for someone is by setting clear goals for his progress in life.

And with all that, Kanojo Ai is one who is the furthest from a leader.

Martyrdom is an act or attitude of voluntarily offering oneself up to death, especially as a religious sacrifice. A martyr usually carries out the death sentence willingly, either because he believes in it or because he hopes to atone for his own sins while also helping others. It can also refer to someone who has been killed specifically for their political beliefs by repressive regimes.Martyrs are considered heroes and role models by those that believe in them and they often become examples of courage in defiance of overwhelming odds. There are many reasons why someone may choose to become a martyr, and each experience is unique. However, the rewards of martyrdom are far greater than anything that can be found in the world of the living. Martyrdom can be a powerful force for change, and it can bring people together in a way that is impossible otherwise.

And with all that, Kanojo Ai is one who is the furthest from a martyr.

Kano-san’s eyes slowly start taking in his whereabouts. He could see he was within the bed of his dormitory and he could take notice of the other man taking care of him. He sighed.

”Was I out for so much?”

He did not expect an answer, after all what he said was done under his breath. He was listening to what the man said and felt sad that he did not know the other party’s name. He would smile and nod though, an attempt to ease his own broken heart for being such a bad person.

“I don’t know what got into you, Ai. You know a majority of the people in the Academy are nobles. They wouldn’t share that sentiment. Why would they if those beings are nobles?"

Yes. They are nobles. So what though? By having power, doesn’t mean that you also get to be an ass like that other one. There have been instances where a noble actually stood with the people instead of with the power. She was one of them, at least from what she would sometimes tell Ai. She was one of them and she died because she was one. At least, that is what Kano-san wishes to be true. He still has no clue of what has truly happened.

“I’m not saying what you did was completely bad, but it was pretty dumb, Ai. You’re not strong enough yet. Regardless of your point of view, the only real substance that everyone answers to is strength. You can’t change the minds of others if you can’t do anything about it. It’s the way this world works. Why do you think the nobles are what they are? Their overall history lays out the pathway to strength. Spiritual power, different feats, and the culmination of who they are today allows for them to be who they are. Not all nobles hold the same sentiment – not every single one of them is like the douchebag that was there today. You have to take care of yourself though because if something happens to you…”

Yes. He, no. I am weak. I, Kanojo Ai, am weak. I need to stand strong. I need to rise up, but not become like them. My strength needs to flow from within my being, within my essence, my beliefs. I need to stand forth, to stand true to everything that makes me, being me. I gotta get my shit together.

“You won’t be able to change anything. Instead, you’ll just be another number – a statistic. A being that had potential to change something, but didn’t. Is that what you want to be? Would you rather die changing nothing rather than having the strength to change something? Despite how much you want things genuinely want to be different, despite how much you want equality. This way isn’t the right way. We can grow strong, no, we will grow strong. If we find a way to genuinely work a way towards change, there’s no way that we’ll fall short. I just don’t think slamming your knee into someone else is going to do very much – especially in the academy. Don’t worry about them, and let’s focus on getting stronger. When we’re out of here, let’s actually change the lives of those on the outside. Let’s be the change that you’re striving for, Kanojo.”

No. Kano-san’s wish was to reach a state of peace, of balance. He would need to achieve it in some way though, as for now he truly was another number. A statistic. Even if his words touched others, they would truly be nothing at all. After all, he was nobody as of now. Another cog in the wheel. He needed. No. He had to change his very being. He had to become an entity akin to either a martyr or a leader. Or rise above even those and reach a pinnacle that was unprecedented.

He would rather change something instead of nothing. That was his goal. The main goal he had for now. He needed time to manage to reach a point. He would need to grow stronger. And for that, he glanced over to his own Zanpakuto. He smiled at it, as he thought all that had happened. His attack on that noble. The peanut gallery’s actions. He knew he should take a step back and evaluate his being. He knew. And he would.

“You’re one strange guy, Ai.”

He chuckled. Yes. Yes he was a weirdo, wasn’t he? Started as a slave, became the pet of a noble, got freedom and now was studying to become a soldier. He laughed. The only thing he could do was just that. Laugh. Next time they met, he should ask for the man’s name.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRlD6hCVIj8. . .[/url

He found himself walking about with no visible focus. He felt his spirit devastated. At hand, he held the sageo of the saya, the scabbard’s hanging cord. He had left a long time ago from his dorm, walking through the academy’s training field. His aim was to go to where one meditated to manage to speak with their Zanpakuto. He was devastated from that discussion, but a hint of a smile existed on his face.

”This should be a good place.”

Kano-san spoke to himself. He had found an extremely secluded spot. If he were to be found by others, they would either need to be lucky or simply have followed him. Either of the two.

Anyways. The important thing for now was to focus. Focus on what he was about to do.

”This time, I sure have to make this work.”

He sat down on the grass, as placed his Zanpakuto in front of him. He closed his eyes, as he let go of the mundane and tried to force a connection towards that very thing he could get a sense of.

Within a place that is far different to the one Kano-san is found sitting at, a woman seems to be sitting upon the ground, unmoving for the most part. The sound of a flute is being heard as she moves her head upwards and smiles. At least it would be seen, if not for that ink-like substance found upon her face.

”ㄚㄖㄩ 千丨几卂ㄥㄥㄚ ㄒ尺ㄚ ㄒㄖ 尺乇卂匚卄 爪乇 ㄖ几 ㄚㄖㄩ尺 ㄖ山几”

With those words, she awaited for the very day that Kano-san would truly make this connection. Today would not be that time. But he was on the right path, that much was sure.

It had taken him time to outright manage and feel that he had made a sort of advance. He had thought of ink for some reason, but he was unsure of what that meant. He knew that he had a long time ahead of him after all. And after finishing this meditation, he stood. He would practice some Kido.

”Ye Lord! Protect the madinless father! Distort thy path! Hado #1 Sho!”

He would focus the energy he could feel accumulating upon his right hand, as he had his eyes closed. His training was slightly different to the norm as he did not wish to follow the example set by other Kido practitioners of focusing on the chants or the results but instead he wanted to focus entirely on the very essence of what made the very spell come to be, the process in other words. Maybe that is how the Captain of the Fifth Division had reached the mastery he had.

”Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini!! Look upon yourself with horror and then claw out your own throat! Bakudo #9 Geki!”

His attempt was to perform what is known as Nijū Eishō. His focus was not on succeeding though, no. As mentioned he wished to study the way the spells formed. This would allow Kano-san to become better at how they operated, how they worked. He would focus entirely on the process. He did not care if the spells exploded thus hurting him, or if they outright failed. He needed to study in this way in order of becoming both stronger and more knowledgeable. And thus, he kept it up, the two spells’ energies colliding with each other as he kept on pushing and pushing, attempting to make it as close as possible to succeeding. He would not stop. He needed to train both his own pool of energy, to hone and make it bigger all the while also to attempt to focus on his mastery over spells.

”Come on! You are right there!”

He would shout as he had reached a point of no return. The spells would either fully come into focus, or they would break down and potentially even explode thus hurting him. So be it. He pushed and pushed, only for the expected result to happen. The spells backfired, but instead of letting them explode he would actually use what he learned to outright manage and dissipate the very energy as he would slowly make it take the exact opposite way for both of those spells. He could feel his body was soaked in sweat, as he punted and felt his body heavy. This was torture, yes.

”But this is not enough!”

Immediately he stood and found some sticks. They numbered three in total, as he would then place them in a trigonal shape, each far from the other. There, he would make steps and create clones of him as three of Kano-san’s image had been brought to
“life”. He would then proceed to attempt to have the clones attack him, this way he continue his training over his own energy - both Reiryoku and Reiatsu aspect - as well as his very own mastery over Zanjutsu. He would move in on the attacks, as the clones would start slow. But as time passed, he started being more and more masterful at this kind of training as he kept on pushing and pushing forth. The clones now moved at his own speed with near to no jagged movement for the sole sake of managing to allow him to train even more. Yes, his brain had been fried up to now from all this and he was feeling tired but he also knew that he needed to continue. He dared not stop. He pushed forth. He would slash right, stab to the left, he would deflect the attacks from the right and would get damaged by those done by the one on his left. He would end up being extremely tired from this, but he needed to push forth. At least, until the sticks broke when he outright jumped upwards, tilted his body on an angle and by forming a platform to stand on with energy as he would outright use his Inadzumanoken self made Zanjutsu technique.

”F#ck… Air… Breathe… F#ck…”

He paused, as he would replenish his stamina. He was, after all, far from being over.

It was imperative for him to outright move on, to focus on his Hakuda as well. After a while, he would outright resummon the clones and begin anew. This time, no sticks were held as Zanpakuto. No. He would outright focus on his Hakuda as the clones would begin to pummel while Ai would actually focus on doing nothing but taking in the damage and using it in order to send it back to the clones. He could feel, after a point, that his body’s insides were shaking. The force he had accumulated and needed to be unleashed would be far too much as he could feel his own being moving faster and faster using the clones’ attacks to propel him towards newer and newer heights, while they too would use Kano-san’s main body to manage and reach his speeds. He could sense he was about to shatter, not just from damage but also from the overall stamina loss. Nonetheless, he took a breath in. He continued. He believed that there was an answer to this sensation. Maybe an answer that he could reach through all this. Just maybe.
.
.
.
”I am dead.”

That is all he could mutter. He had finished training about two hours ago but he felt that his body was unable to move. He had truly reached a point where he seriously felt that he was nearing death. At least in regards to how he felt. He felt shit. What he did not know was that his training had allowed him to actually become stronger, better.

”I should head to sleep.”

He muttered after about thirty minutes. He had finally managed to move and he would outright go back to his dorm. If nothing happened at the very least. Hopefully?

Dutiful Shinigami

While today had been an enjoyable day for the Mad Buddha it has also felt like a long one. It took him a moment to realize that it was just earlier today that he had a brief lesson with his top officers before sending them on a mission. That mission should be done by now given the force entering the Dangai. More importantly he hopes that the group learned how to cooperate and rely on one another. These hopes will be dashed.

Upon his approach he senses multiple Reiatsu signatures, the level of them suggest it must be… multiple Priestesses? As always Tenzen enjoyed leaping from rooftop to rooftop, it was like taking a walk through the park and gave him time to let his thoughts wander, however it seems he can no longer be leisurely with his pace. A barrier is formed then shatters, whatever was going on meant that someone was trying to restrain another. The first culprit was Arashi, his Vizard nature made him the prime suspect but with no wild Reiatsu fluctuations from him that couldn’t have been the case. He places a single foot on the next rooftop he lands upon and vanishes.

The Captain of Fifth division reappears on a rooftop near where the barrier was erected, the Priestesses take notice of him as he only stares in their direction. He isn’t glaring at them but instead using his Reiryoku sensory to replay the events that happened here. The remnants of Reiatsu that are left play out like a slideshow for Tenzen, the silhouettes of Arashi, Eizoku and Jizakai are seen before him, their silhouettes being the same color as their Reiatsu. There seemed to be abrasiveness, frustration and tension amongst the trio, namely between Arashi and Eizoku. Tenzen turns his head and vanishes once again, reappearing near the Senkaimon to see when this started, only to discover Jizakai and Arashi's silhouettes positioned outside of the Senkaimon. Eizoku’s signature moves towards the gate, vanishes then reappears.

”I see…”

The guards at the gate are at a loss for words, not sure what their Captain was talking about or even what he was looking at. Just like that he is gone again appearing on another rooftop in Fifth Division. The barracks are empty for the most part, the Division is out patrolling the Seireitei, as ordered, ensuring no one takes advantage of the Captain’s absence. With Tenzen, and surely Kyomu as well, having returned to the Seireitei the security has been bolstered that much more. Tenzen is not on this rooftop to act like a guardian to watch over anything, he is here to sense out the location of his three officers. Arashi and Jizakai are still at the location where the barrier was briefly seen and Eizoku is headed southeast it seems. So long as the other two remain idle there is no need to go to them immediately, however Eizoku needs to be intercepted.

As the man with dreads continues his stride he is cut off by his Captain. It is clear Tenzen had been in a battle as all he is wearing is tattered Shihakusho bottoms. Eizoku will have no time to greet his Captain as Tenzen wastes no time addressing him.

”Turn around and return to Arashi’s position immediately, I will not repeat myself.”

And with those words he is gone again, he himself returning to the location of the trio’s dysfunctional meeting. The Head Priestess and her guard finally arrive at Fifth Division from the Rukongai. She bites her own tongue before commenting on seeing Tenzen here at the barracks instead of competing. She does this because the man seems unapproachable, his own frustrations and anger were obvious and radiating from him like steam from a kettle. Achieving inner peace and balance of his mind and soul does not mean he suppresses his emotions, instead he lets them flow freely. The Priestess turns and nods to her guard.

”Let's go fetch a new Shihakusho and Haori for the Captain.”

The sound of them leaving was overshadowed by the sound of the sliding door being slammed open by Captain Oda. Surely they had sensed his arrival, if they had not then Tenzen would have caught Arashi off guard while he was cleaning up the tea that was spilled.

”Eizoku will be here shortly, now, report.”

It is clear the Captain was agitated, the group had better pick their words wisely, their careers and possibly their lives depend on it.

As the irony grows deep

Arashi is not ruled by it. Instead, he continues, as he always had. Against all odds... From his servitude in Squad 13, until today, he'd find himself-

" Hm?"

A familiar signature approaches. It lands. It is the Captain. From even a distance, he could tell that he has gone through a fierce battle. From this distance, even his reiatsu was once touched by the other side, his hollow side. His smile withers away once again. For a moment his hands cease their work in cleaning the mess that was made; currently, Arashi's senses are at work, attempting to deduce the Captain's path. For a few minutes, he is idle, perhaps surveying. Quickly, he moves to survey yet another area near the Senkaimon. Arashi was sure he'd come this way at some point and with his pending arrival, he decides to finish cleaning up the mess and sending the aforementioned message to the Head Lieutenant.

Jizakai had not said a word this entire time, remaining idle even, not even managing to save his own cup of tea from being spilled. What captured his thoughts? What caused him to be so invisible at this moment? No time to diagnose the distant ghost now that The Demon has arrived. Before the sliding door is touched forcefully opened Arashi's midnight blue eyes become visible, locking on to it. To the outside, the door had been rushed open, but to Arashi, his perception of this action slowed down. Was it fear? No, it was anticipation. What conclusion awaits?

Eizoku will be here shortly, now, report.

Fuming with agitation, no greeting is given, instead, it is the blunt order from his superior. Such is the same tone he had used against Eizoku. Arashi stands relaxed in the presence of his Captain, fully aware that he would have to answer to him at some point. It made no difference be it now or later...

" The mission was a success. Though not in the way that you had imagined..."

LIeutenant Suta allows a moment to pass before continuing.

" I placed Eizoku in charge of the expedition, due to his experience with the unknown within the Dangai. I had planned to be his overwatch, and should I need to take charge I would have. Rather than all three of us entering the Dangai however, Eizoku went in with a team, while we remained. Eizoku moved alone, placing a restriction on the Senkaimon under the assumption that we were sending him to his death, acting out of revenge for what happened during our lesson against you in the training room. Upon his return, he apologized," the Lieutenant elaborated.

" From his expedition, he discovered something odd within the Dangai. A substance that is capable of altering the properties of the Dangai. Eizoku managed to capture it within a small capsule that is currently on his person. I ordered him to take it to Head Quarters to quarantine it until we have more information. According to Eizoku, it has been there since the time the Hollow was there. He had also deduced that we may have a mole in Squad 12, which I agree. What concerns me is that we may have a bigger issue on our hands, and we are currently blind to what or whom may lie in wait to strike. I've also made a report to the Head Lieutenant, who is likely to relay the same report to the Head Captain." he concluded.

However, his lips would part to speak once more.

" Captain... I ask that you not punish Eizoku or Jizakai. I will take full responsibility..."

HIs report was short and concise, yet the gravity of the situation seemed to be heavier than anticipated. Offering to take the blame, he had only hoped the Captain would not punish all three of them but considering he had hoped for us to go in as a team, then his plea would easily fall short. He awaited his response and the return of Eizoku Yugameru...

֍ Kururu Nagahiro ֍
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kururu had been standing nearby for the past few minutes at the entrance to the secluded area he was practising in. Although she did not exactly follow Ai, the student's ability to completely mask his presence was unrefined and still let out plenty of spiritual pressure to detect for someone as sharp as her. In comparison, she remained entirely hidden until he passed by her, revealing the towering monolith that is Kururu Nagahiro, the newly promoted Third Seat of the Third Division. Surely he had probably heard of her and being in his final year he was informed that her advanced Zenjutsu classes were among the final courses he needed to graduate, and rumours were that she was very unlike the other instructors, especially for that class. It was easy to see why without even knowing her skill level - her Zanpakutō was nearly as long as he was tall, but if he looked closely enough he would be able to see a second, much smaller Zanpakutō jutting out from her unusual robe at the opening near the chest. An icon of the Division, but why was she here? Surely she would have to have gone out of her way to locate Ai, so it could not be a mere coincidence. Without a Captain or a Vice-Captain at the moment, the leadership of the Third would end up in her palms, so would this mean that she is here to reprimand Ai for his scrap with the noble?

"Good day to you, intrepid Kanojo-kun. I hope your training session went well." Kururu spoke gently and her expression was warm. "You are developing well. I am pleased to see you are so dedicated to your training. I do hope I did not interrupt. If you have a moment, I would like to have a word with you." Her unnervingly pleasant smile certainly seemed harmless enough, but Kururu was never known to become enraged easily so her face would often belie her intention.

What an exciting day was something Yua had wished she could say if anything had happened on her patrol. Well, that was until something caught her eye. Maybe it was just her, but patrolling was often dull and the same sight from different viewpoints: same old walls, Same walkways, even the same old birds resting in their same spots. Patrol was boring 95 percent of the time. You could often find the same Shinigami passing by at the same time every day.

Yua stopped dead in her tracks, standing on the very edge of the known patrol perimeter, following the mindless pathing of a usual patrol route while thinking of a theory she has been rolling around in her head and about 15 other things that haven't left her mind. Slowly her pastel purple eyes looked up towards the sky in blank thought before allowing her mind to focus on what caught her attention "Captain Tenzen is back.."She muttered to herself.

Without a moment's notice, she was gone from her spot on the ground only to reappear high in the air looking down at the walled pathways of the labyrinth that was her home. "He is too early to be back.."She whispered, gaining a worried expression as she landed on a corner roof of one of the walls. "There is an ominous difference in the air.."Before taking off again, deciding to use her need for literal speed to bounce across the patrol perimeter towards the 5th squad Headquarters. Gently she landed at the gates of the 5th squad headquarters before quickly and quietly making her way towards where she sensed her captain was currently.

She could tell from the various members and priestesses that something had happened or something was about to happen to cause her to stop at a corner of the hallway before peering around the corner, listening in on what she could hear or tell. Curiosity was the greatest teacher. Often not in the best way. However, she preferred to know all that was going on in the squad.

Closing her eyes, Yua focused on every little sound and presence she could manage to sense. She had sight of Tenzen, and she knew his company from halfway across the gotei. Next was Arashi, who seemed calm and calculated in giving, only what she could assume was a given report on something? What exactly had happened while she was out. She could sense another presence, Jizakai. She kept all the thoughts and theories racing in her head quietly as she listened hard for what she could get from the report and the possible anticipation of what the hell was about to break loose from whatever had happened. From all she gathered so far, it was not a good thing and warranted great caution for a good while.
