There Oyama stood high above the air, looking down at the vast city that laid outside Seireitei. She stood above everything not because of any sense of superiority, rather out of habit that she developed early on her career she had noticed people don’t tend to look up in the sky, those that do look up are often looking too late. Another reason was to scout out the area, look for potential paths she might take. This habit developed underneath second, as she had to be aware of all paths, she or another could and should take.

She took in a deep breath of air as she began to descend down to relatively dark alleyway, and upon exiting she had entered the bustling and busy crowded streets of the Rukongai. She weaved her way through the crowd, being careful as to not touch anyone or let anyone bump into her. She went unnoticed as she continued her way through the people, until a laugh had stopped her in her tracks. One that brought up an old memories of her childhood.

“Rukongai Citizens and shinigami alike! Come one come all to the Hoshi Candy cart!!! We have a wide verity candy too choose from! sweet berry gum, hard drop candy and most importantly! Our best-Selling candy off all! The Hoshi’s very own Salt water taffy that comes in a verity of flavors!!”

Again, she began to laugh as many of the crowd began moving to cart grabbing and pay for all they could, before finally dispersing as all the candy had been gone. Yet something was off about the bags she was handing out they seemed… Smaller. Once the crowd finally disappeared the two would stare at one another. One in disbelief and the other in disappointment.

“So are you going to pocket the difference in Kan and give the rest to the family?”

“Noooo… Hey listen how bout we sp-”

“No you either give all the money to the family and give me the stash of the best pieces hidden away in the cart or I tell the family what you’ve been doing all day Risa.”

The look of shock on her face quickly turned to annoyance, how did Oyama know of the Stash of good pieces. Either way she was screwed, with a sigh she had reached behind the cart to pull out a bag of candy, and shamefully handed it over. Oyama in the mean while had smiled before taking said bag and disappearing towards the arena with her prize in hand.

Central Seireitei ---------------- Arriving to ---------------- Rukongai

Fuyuko’s feet touch down on the buzzing streets of the Rukongai. The People seemed rather energetic from watching the games, each one fueled in one way or another. Though dressed in the attire of a Shinigami, with how busy the streets were and the number of Shinigami patrolling to try and maintain some semblance of order, Fuyuko seemed to blend in quite seamlessly.

’’ Now..to find that giant…Excuse me! Have you by chance seen the Seireitei’s Captain-Commander? You wouldn’t have been able to miss him, a TALL and LARGE man with green hair and beard.

She pauses to ask around, hoping to find some hint or clue to where her Captain had gone. While the residents in the Rukon area were not privy to the ranks of the Gotei 13, the Head Lieutenant’s description was accompanied by her mini charades, using her hands to make motions and gestures when describing the green titan. The person in question was an elderly male who stared blankly at her. While the streets remained rather noisy there was silence between the two, the old man eventually shuffling along leaving Fuyuko staring there just as lost as she had been when she asked.

Her face reddened as she became flustered, oh how she disliked crowded places. She shook her head doing her best to compose herself. She continued traveling through the area, stepping from one place to the other, eavesdropping here and there. She heard some people complaining about losing out money as the person they had betted on seemed to be on the losing end, others muttering something about a monster appearing. She searched with her eyes, while also using her ears tuning into anything she thought might resemble news about the Shining Commander. Eventually, the raven-haired woman came to a stop, struck by a sudden epiphany. A well-timed step catapulted her into a shunpo, leaving the streets appearing on the tallest place she could find. Flustered once more out of embarrassment she closes her eyes as she begins feeling out the spiritual pressure in the
area. Slowly..gradually she expanded her search, further…FURTHER…..FURTHER

Until finally she finds him, shining like a beacon. She lets out a breath, her eyes slowly peeling open. Her body vanishes once more, her form remains scarcely visible until finally, she appears on the pedestal erected to house the host of the games, Captain Commander Higen Kagayaki. Fuyuko clears her throat as she moves to greet her Captain.

’’Commander..Fuyuko Kasumi reporting I hope I am not-

While speaking she is interrupted by her Denreishinki that once more goes off. What could it be now? Was it Izanagi again? Perhaps there was an update on the situation in Naruki City. Retrieving the device from the sleeve of her Shihakusho she sees a message from Lieutenant Suta of the Fifth Division.
---" Head Lieutenant Kasumi Fuyuko, Lieutenant Suta Arashi of Squad Five reporting... We recently conducted an investigation into the Dangai, hoping to find answers on how a Hollow was able to reside within the Precipice World, and possibly additional answers on how the Kokotsu was truly able to become free. We discovered an unidentified substance within the Dangai and we were able to contain it within a small container. From what I've been told, it has properties that allow it to resist or completely nullify the properties of the Dangai. However, this is the least of my concerns...

We have come to the agreement that there may be a mole within Squad 12, considering that the Dangai is to be monitored 24/7. While it is likely to have been a past suspicion due to the Kokotosu incident, I fear that this matter has become much worse and could potentially be catastrophic in the future. A hollow found living in the Dangai and this substance is present, it promotes the question of how this Hollow got there and how this substance was dispensed, or rather, by whom.

Currently, I am avoiding any contact with Squad 12, due to the possible chance of a mole being within their ranks. Alerting the individual or individuals may not benefit a solution or feasible outcome. Then again, they may already know... Whether this matter is connected to the Kokotsu incident or not, I am not sure, but I will be keeping the container within the custody of Squad Five Head Quarters. I will monitor it closely, until Captain Oda returns from the game, but should he not, then I will cross that bridge when it comes. Perhaps these details will be valuable to the Commander..." —

The message is rather lengthy, creating a moment of awkward silence as her eyes scan its contents. Mention of the Kokotsu event brings up bitter memories, as she recalls the sight of her Captain, imprisoned in his own body, his own mind in his comatose state after saving the Soul Society from ruin. As she continues reading she lifts a brow, confusion plastered upon her face. She wasn’t aware that they were currently monitoring the Dangai 24/7 around the clock. Not a scientist Fuyuko is aware that the Dangai is isolated from space, surrounded by multiple stacks of time. It is an unstable place where its very structure normally prevents souls from passing through it thanks to the wresting current that normally kills anyone it touches, trapping even shinigami who foolishly reveal or use their zanpakuto. Members of the Twelfth Division in the past have devoted extended research into the Dangai in the past, she wasn’t aware of any current protocol or order requiring the Twelfth to exhaust their resources in attempting to accomplish what should be unaccomplishable.

Fuyuko pauses as she continues reading while pondering. Though Lieutenant Suta’s conclusion seems a bit exaggerated to her, the fact they found something foreign in the Dangai that was resistant to its power was certainly concerning. There have only been two other times in the history of the Soul Society where there was a power that could contest with a component of the Dangai, traitor Sosuke who had fused with the Hougyoku, and traitor Amagai. Both former Captains, each one using their own unique method to destroy a Kototsu, rendering the Dangai temporarily safe. Could the component be an experiment from another traitorous Shinigami? If it was an experiment then perhaps their suspicion of Twelfth wasn’t entirely unfounded…but then again, neither Sosuke Aizen nor Shusuke Amagai were members of the twelfth division, so they couldn’t dismiss the possibility of someone from another division either. As terrifying as that was..what if it wasn’t one of their own at all…what if-

’’Sir, a moment of your time if you will."

While she spoke quietly, the expression on her face spoke volumes. She waited silently, there was much to report to the Commander.

Perhaps that apparent weakness, that distasteful sediment that turned to ash in the mouths of both Commanders—past and present—was fading away. The roaring of the crowds did not lower a single octave from the moment the bell wrung, up until stretchers and exfil teams were being assembled to extract the wounded and quite possibly, the dead. In each and every bracket there was an explosion of power, an explosion of skill. The very thing he begged for, pleaded for to be present as they approached this new century, and turned over a new age. The visions of shadows and specters through the veil of shattered glass did not fade from his memory easily. Whilst Honoka’s procedure rendered him sane and nightmareless, every waking moment of his eternity in darkness was accounted for. Every second is documented, etched into his remembrance. This was the heart and soul of the games, the purpose for this bloodshed. Someone would see it as counterproductive, rendering many valuable pieces of their chessboard gravely injured or worse after this event, perhaps crippling their forces. In truth, it was the culling of the unfit, a chance to expose a myriad of warriors that could have emerged from the shadows.

In the first bracket, the Titan’s attention was unmistakenly drawn towards the lone Oki, the sole proprietor of her endangered bloodline. Her impromptu inclusion into the games was one to surprise the Commander, unsure of her intentions. Had he gone too far? Had he pushed her to the brink of suicide? Or did the somber woman have hopes of running the gauntlet in an effort to prove something to her former comrade? Was it a play at Masahiro, or a way to punish herself for allowing things to unfold the way they had? He could only wonder and only assume. Higen was not an individual to easily succumb to doubt, but he would be remiss to think that separating a mother from her child was not a near-unspeakable act. He would be judged for it in the eyes of many, but only a few would understand. His surprise is only further eclipsed by who it is that renders Honoka but a near-lifeless husk: The Fairy. The Kido Prince—aptly named—thwarts whatever Honoka’s plans may have been, removing her from the contest altogether. His growth is one to acknowledge, and should not be ignored. In a lot of ways Captain Nakamoto’s growth or change rather, could be metaphorically compared to his hair. His rather longer cut, with lengthy bangs constantly shifting in front of his eyes, limiting his view. Said bangs also acted as a shield, hiding the nervous and timid boy beneath them away from those that would cause him harm. Now, his mane shorter, his cut clean and concise; this exposes a Yu that very few have had the opportunity to know. One that was forged by the fire of Kyomu’s Blade, and belittled by the words of the former Commander. His ferocity, and his dedication to victory, all speak to a side of him that needed to be conjured should they have a chance at what was to come.

Lieutenant Ueki is now forced to take on the much more dangerous Captain Nakamoto. The quiet male seemed to have become more composed from his days prior, learning, adapting, doing his best to control that which could not be. His movements are swift, his sword is true, and there is a layer to all of his actions. Each swing could very well be a guise to foreshadow your end. On full display was his physical strength; titanic and earth-severing. Who would be the victor there? The second bracket unfolds as to be expected, for the most part–until it doesn’t. The man that Higen anticipated to have stumbled here entirely by accident, had become a foe worth fighting in a matter of moments. In the deepest depths of the Muken, A battle of swordsmen is afoot. Higen was not ignorant to Kyomu’s disdain for the games, as apparent in his demeanor; whenever one could remotely catch a glimpse of the three, that is. It was clear who would not have participated if not ordered to, but that too played into the Commander’s intentions. Perhaps the phantom was fatigued from slaughtering an entire clan, never a man to waste time on trivial bouts for entertainment. The games only confirmed Kyomu to be what the Knight had already known he was: A professional. The buddha exposes himself to be anything but; the man was more akin to a monster. The reveal of his hollow only further cemented this fact. The Commander had tensed up, should anyone notice, pandering through thought and memory alike to cause one singular promise to resurface. He had every instinct to act on it himself—that is—until he became unsure if one of the individuals in Captain Oda’s bracket would carry out that promise on his behalf.

The Drunkard had Higen intrigued, intrigued enough to consider a proposition should he survive. There are very few that could stand in the ring with Kyomu Mukuro–however unmotivated–and the mad buddha himself. The outcome of this bout was the most interesting, while simultaneously the most concerning. Higen could be often seen squinting at the large screens, seeing if he recognized the man. Or even trying to hear the pitch of his voice beneath the jeering and heckling of the crowd and vendors. While The Commander himself was enveloped in interest surrounding the fight of the second bracket, the common folk seemed to struggle to keep up. The darkness of the Muken was only briefly illuminated by flashes of yellow and green throughout. What was troubling was how difficult it became to discern whether or not the man was serious, or had any competitive intentions at all. For the most part his very existence in the fight seemed like an accident, happenstance, yet somehow it was working in his favor, to the point where the crowds grew hush as they assumed he trumped the Kido Chief.

In the final bracket, the Hitsugaya standout is immediately disposed of, by no other than the Burst Prince himself. The man was used in an unfortunate game of ping-pong, before ultimately meeting his demise in the form of a cloud of ash and smoke. No fourth division members would be sent to his aid, as his existence in all its entirety was erased from the world we knew. In the instant of his end, the crowds can be heard in a state of confusion, not knowing whether or not to cheer or groan at the sight of an untimely death. Hiroka and his vibrant explosions paint the murky swamp in hues of orange and yellow, casting each miniature sun across the marsh to bring light where there was previously none. His coordination, his movements, and his ingenuity are what has kept him alive up until this point, whilst his rage was responsible for blowing the Omnitsukido member of his bracket to fragments. It is the very qualities of his survival, and his participation, that once had the man in contention for Captaincy. His fiery spirit is put to the test, when forced to face his former classmate and longtime friend, Captain Yugure. Kyomu’s former shadow known for being caught in every division without cause, raiding their stores and pantries, had blossomed into her role as a Captain. Her Vizard affliction, turned into a tool to protect and serve at the Seireitei’s will, as Higen allowed—for now. She was present with heat of her own, heat that the Commander was all too familiar with. Her massive Cero burning like a never-ending supernova was forced to be faced by her final opponent. Captain Hageshi stands unscathed, hell-bent on torturing those who were forced to stand in the arena alongside her. Unimpeded as she entered her Bankai. The woman was never known for her restraint but was a great adversary for the remaining two to test their meddle against to the fullest.

Higen could feel the end of the first round was near, and couldn’t be more pleased without how things played out. Not simply the display of strength by the combatants, but the true effectiveness politically of bringing the districts back together after a century of turmoil and distrust. Perhaps the connection between the Rukongai and the Seireitei can be emboldened once more. Everyone was doing their part, like the cogs of a well-oiled machine, ensuring both success and prosperity between the two entities. The death of Captain Asakura did not help, but with hope, soon, his presence will be replaced in order to get true order and a firm Shinigami presence within the Rukongai again.

Behind the podium at which he’d used to announce the games commencing, was a large bench where both himself and Kojishi resided. Resting, far enough above the ground to where the multitude of screens are widely in their view, unperturbed by the varying heights of the individuals that make up the crowd.
"Commander..Fuyuko Kasumi reporting I hope I am not-"

He was mildly distracted, unable to thin out his own lieutenant’s Reiatsu in the midst of the hundreds of thousands–perhaps millions–in attendance. But as soon as he hears her voice his demeanor transforms. His fun-loving self is evident, proud of the success that the day has become.

“Ahh!! Kasumi San!! Come! Come! Sit, Sit!”

As the Commander gestures her over and points to the remaining room on the bench, he assumes she is here to join in on the joy that has come from the games. He completely drowns out the sound of her Denreishinki ringing and had already shifted his attention back towards the screens while she took the call.

’’Sir, a moment of your time if you will."

The man was taken away from his enjoyment, like a proud father being pulled aside at their child’s sporting event. He was a bit aggravated, unbeknownst to him there was much to know, much that had transpired. But still, what could be so important?

“Hm? What is it, Lieutenant?”

The playfulness had seemed to fade, now curious as to what would bring her here of all places. He was fairly certain that she would still be at the barracks, perhaps spending time with Akarui and the children watching the games from afar. It became increasingly clear that she wasn’t here to ask how he was doing.

Signy had shifted off her husband’s shoulders a while ago as she’d become enthralled with the battle before her. Her sister’s squad mate had been the first to succumb to the powerhouses against him. This hadn’t surprised Signy for she’d known next to nothing about the man. Still, the lose of a Shinigami, no matter how weak they may or may not have been, was a disappointment. She fidgeted, crumpling the receipt for her bets in her hands as she watched the captain of eleventh claim the hands of her friend and loyal Hoshi Candy customer. Though she hadn’t met Captain Hageshi or 4th seat Hiroka Ikari personally, she knew enough about them to know that they were souls that she would quite enjoy getting to spar with.

Signy leaned against Elk’s side, practically buzzing with excitement. She’d yet to get to witness a Vizard in action until now. Gazing up at his face, she wondered who Elk thought would win this fight, or rather who he wanted to win. She was uncertain herself who she wanted to win, any of them were forces to reckon with.

As she stared at Elk, lost in thought, she couldn’t help but want to commemorate this moment they had together, so she fished her denreishinki out of her pocket and handed it to him.

”Lets take a picture!”

She cuddled up close to him, her hand gently smooshing his cheek as he took the picture of them since his arms were longer.

As he handed her phone back to her a broadcast from the 9th division came through. Signy’s ears immediately perked up. The voice of her childhood best friend rang out through the broadcast. She was here!? Saving the picture as her new background, Signy rose to her feet.

”I’ll be right back!”

After pressing a quick peck on his cheek, she sped off into the crowd. As she scanned the area, music drifted through her thoughts, and memories of many afternoons playing music together.

It took a little longer than she’d hoped to find Kazumi due to her shorter stature, but none the less it had been achieved. The moment she’d spotted her, she sprinted full force right at her, effectively tackling her with a hug upon impact.

”KAZUMI!! I’VE MISSED YOU SO MUCH!”

Signy nuzzled her cheek against the top of Kaz’s head and she squeezed her tight. She swiftly released her best friend as her ears picked up the sound of an all too familiar voice. Peering around Kaz at the nearest candy stand, she watched as her younger sister Risa was confronted by their baby sister, Oyama. A sigh escaped her lips as she shunpo’d over to the stand, towering over Oyama from behind and staring down at Risa who was even shorter than the former of the two.

”What was that about keeping money from the family, Risa?”

The crowd had been roaring with excitement, as the announcers spoke with excitement and enthusiasm. Yet Oddly Elk was silent, and observant of the whole situation, his attention turning his attention to Captain Nakamoto and Lieutenant Ueki’s fight, then back to Captain’s Oda and Mukuro along with the Rukongai Citizen who had held his own against those two.

“Its interesting to see the someone skilled in Zanjutsu come from the Rukongai, even more so when they can trick a captain into fighting a phantom.”

His head tilted a bit as Signy leaned onto her, she was excited to see such fights go on, and that had brought a smile to his face. It was a wonderful event and glad that he was here to see this once in a life time event.

“Lets take a picture”

“Of Course!”

His hand had gripped onto the phone to which he would smile brightly, it came naturally but once her hand had moved to press and push against his cheek, he had to hold himself back from laughing. His arm extended outward before taking the photo.

He then would turn it around and quickly send it over to himself before handing her back her phone, as the 9th division members began to speak his attention turned towards the battle, as his attention turned back to the battles, blinking before hearing Signy speak once more, the peck on his cheek was fast almost as fast as her running off into the crowd, his only guess was her paying a visit to someone she knew and hadn’t seen in ages; after all she was locked up for quite sometime.

A sigh came out as he looked down at the ground for a moment, before looking back up. His attention turned towards Captain Nakamoto and Lieutenant Ueki, then back to Captains Oda, Mukuro, and the Rukongai Citizen. He wondered how long these two fights were going for, he waited for two people, one he wanted to see and ask a simple question, and the other he wished he would never run into.

Relax enjoy the show Elk

Laughter echoed in his head as his zanpakutō rattle at his anxiety that had been building up through out the day.
