There is a lack of something.

Nana Nokoribi finds herself lacking, but in what? The amount of pain that would follow the amount of damage received is overshadowed by the adrenaline running through her from the speed she had barrelled through layers and layers of Karakura's earth. Each solid layer meets her every which way as she rockets through the debris before settling deep in the broken ground, Pain exists, but it is dulled. Everything in her broken body is screaming for her to stay alive, and the gargled breaths she takes show the fine line of sanity she struggles to keep.

This opponent was more than anything she'd faced in her centuries of service. To call him a simple Arrancar would be false. He was a threat that had to be recorded, but in order to do that, she had to stay alive. Even as the world around her came crashing down and the world she saw before was glazed in red, the Fifth Seat was relentless, enduring both the pain as the weight of fallen structures piled on top of her and pressure themselves against her tattered body.

Yurei Shiroi was there... Maybe it would have been okay to die then. He should know better, right? The boy was rather confident in his abilities but had yet to surpass her since his rise to become thirteenth's Seventh Seat.

Nana coughs, and blood dribbles out of her mouth and splatters against asphalt and dirt. Her breaths are becoming slower, and with every additional weight that settles in, begins to feel harder and harder to take. Was this the start of succumbing to her wounds? Sleep sounded oddly heavenly, and with every breath passed, Nana's vision only grew blurrier and bloodier. The sound of her heart pounding overshadows everything, including the sound of moving rubble and the cries of her younger subordinates.

"Noko...sama...."

“Who... is calling me?”

Nana feels the pressure begin to lift off of her body but still is unable to move a muscle. She lacks the feeling in all of her limbs, but the sounds of shouting only get closer and louder the more that they dig in order to find her. For this, and this alone, Nana refuses to die.

"Nokoribi-sama!"

The light of the flames that plague Karakura Town once again shines down on her as the relief team finally reaches her and immediately begins first aid. The fluorescent glow of green flushes against her body, and Nana's arm twitches slightly as the first form of Kaido is underway with reiatsu restoration. Nana's upper body is leaned forward, and her head is dropped, her face out of immediate view, so when the healers had leaned her back against a broken wall, an audible gasp is heard at the sight of her face or lack thereof. Before another sound is uttered and before Nana can ask anything, she is hoisted up and rests on the backside of one of the healers whilst the other continues treatment. Another carries the now sealed forms of Nana's zanpakutos and holds them tightly to their chest.

Up from the crater, they rise, signaling to Yurei that Nana was tended to an extent, but the woman had to have additional treatment done before she was safe. Nana Nokoribi is forcing herself to stay away, for she fears that if she doesn't, she will leave this world. A fellow member of their division extends their zanpakuto out into an open space, and from it, a Senkaimon opens and one by one, the standby unit and Nana would return to the Soul Society, headed to the Fourth Division's Intensive Care Unit.

"Who am I?!"

This entity before Blume begins, his expression contorted into confusion as he stood up to his full height and folded his arms. The two were just about face to face, even if just falling a bit short. Blume’s lips twitch and she is just as confused as he seems to appear as he repeats her question.

"Why I'm Ma-"

CRASSHHHH

However, just as he is to continue with the said introduction, the ceiling above her collapses, and she recognizes this familiar unit of power that rockets down. After having finished his bout from the outside, Dominic senses the danger that sits in front of his Empress and acts without hesitation in order to be her shield, piloting through the Manor and down in an attempt to eradicate the Espada from in front of her, however when the dust settles, she sees that the invader before her has doubled, one still standing before her, but his attention was away from her. Instead, it followed the secondary figure crouched and also focused on the chasm Dominic had created upon his descent.

"....eh, what was that?"

By the second, Blume grows further and further confused and on edge from the events before her very eyes. Around them, the moon is the only source of light, save for the fire that burned around them in Karakura Town. Darkness surrounds the entire area and continues to claw into every crevice and crack it could touch. Even from the chasm created by Dominic's entrance, it seems as though that darkness only grows heavier. Though startled out of her thoughts, Blume refocuses on the person in front of her when his counterpart bows as he continues his introduction without interruption at this time and gestures to himself with his thumb on the form that stood in front of her.

"OH YEA! I'm Marcos Loquez, the PUUURMERA."

The Empress observes all of him, and when their eyes meet one another, she can't help but let out a laugh. Even being a Quincy's mortal enemy, this Espada truly had no qualms standing before one at that, even going so far as to stand before her and introduce himself as kindly as he did. The twinkle in his gracious purple obs with specks of flowering pink is matched with that same expression of wonder and curiosity from those big blue eyes she possesses. Surely he knew what she was, otherwise, why would he have bothered to have come here?

“Wie erstaunlich!” (How amazing.)

The empress exclaims and claps her hands together, eyeing the Espada with wide eyes. She offers the same courtesy, giving the gentle bow of her head. Why she didn't immediately attack was up in the air, but if Dominic in his Vollstandig had missed his mark, the Espada before her was unlike any that have crossed the threshold into the World of the Living, especially has the proclaimed Primera. She'd made the mistake a decade ago, aimlessly firing her arrows at the enemy without knowledge as to what they were capable of, and because of that, she and Dominic were nearly erased because of that disastrous abuse of power.

From past research, the Arrancar possessed the hierarchy of seats between numbers zero through nine. For the Primera to stand before her and arrive as quietly as he did, Blume couldn't help but be forced to perform carefully. Neither party knew of one another's strengths or weaknesses, save for the obvious elephant in the room. It seemed as though she truly would be playing host to the peculiar Espada.

“My name is Blume Diamante."

She offers the same gesture, introducing herself to Marcos. Outside of having him enter her home without being invited, he had yet to attack. Although Dominic, with good intentions, flew in as roughly as he did and with the intention to protect his friend and Empress. Blume had many questions as to why Marcos was here exactly. She is aware of what the hollow bait entails, especially in the volume released of it. Low-level hollows indefinitely would come, gillians, perhaps, an Arrancar, even rarer, but an Espada was something that she couldn't account for. There were plenty of people showcasing their strength from Shinigami to the Quincies outside of the Manor, particularly Dominic and Alexander.

Marcos seemed rather keep to talking with as responsive as he's been. Whether or not he'd answer her was completely up to him, but she'd have to try.

“So why exactly have you come here?"

A Battle of Rage

Again, for the second time today, his aim and timing are thrown off by some unknown ability, however this one felt different. Instead of feeling heavier it was as if his perspective had been skewed and thrown off. These Arrancar are truly annoying in the worst way.

”F%$K! F#$K! F%^k! F^&K!!!”

The swearing in the chasm he created began to increase in volume, bit by bit, louder and louder until he flew out of it and landed in front of Blume, his back to her. His eyes look straight ahead catching sight of both the Arrancar, wait, were there always two? No, he only sensed one and still only senses one, but now it comes down to which one is the real deal and which one is the fake. He had returned amidst their little talk, just after Blume introduced herself. She then poses a question to the strange Arrancar who has done nothing but appear and talk whimsically.

“So why exactly have you come here?"

”Blume! Leave! Go back to Schatten Bereich now!”

Dominic begins to raise his hands, positioning them and his legs to take a Muay Thai stance, his favorite stance and one that shows just how serious he is about killing his opponent.

”There is another Arrancar headed this way and those dumb ass Shinigami couldn’t even slow him down or stop him. F$%king useless ass ghosts!”

For Dominic the Shinigami have done nothing but prove to be annoyances, from the first one he met earlier in the day to Blume’s lover and now to the ones outside who took ages to arrive to deal with the Hollows and can’t even combat a single Arrancar. His rage only fuels his energy output, arcing around Blume in a sort of cage to protect her and give her time to escape, provided that she takes his advice on it. His Reiatsu flares up now at this point, at no point, since facing down Alexander, has Dominic flexed his Reiatsu until now to battle and push back that of the Arrancar’s Reiatsu. It may have been an effect of Reiatsu. They screwed with his perception, could that be this thing's power, the control of perception? The last one had Gravity based Reiatsu and his power ultimately ended up being control over gravity itself. His assumption can be correct for this one then.

Dominic had planned on fighting with his hands, however, if his perception is what is being thrown off then he will destroy everything that he can perceive, simple as that. Both feet are planted firmly on the ground with his hands extended towards each version of Marcos with twelve sparks of flame floating on each palm, the tips of his fingers begin to glow for a moment before he unleashes a flurry of explosive Heilig Pfeil. His hands sweep left and right, he truly is destroying everything in front of him that he can perceive. The care he has for the mansion pales in comparison for the care he has for keeping Blume safe, the cage she was in will ensure that if she hasn’t left already. Several pillars of Reishi rise out of the ground around Blume and Dominic as if it were an extra layer of protection or perhaps to be used as additional ammo for Dominic to use.

A thought crosses his mind, a thought fueled by frustration and rage, a thought that may produce a careless action. If he cannot defeat this Arrancar by normal means then he will have to use a power that has not been seen since the Blood War, his full might, his full power, his Vollständig. If he does that the Quincy will be ousted, Shinigami and Arrancar will know and understand a new Emperor has risen. But worse than that, if he uses that power he will most likely wipe Karakura off the map. An individual wielding that level of power while fueled by rage is a concoction of disaster waiting to happen. Sadly, for Karakura, the young man is not thinking about that, his only thought, only goal, only mission, is to protect Blume.

Where the fuck were the strong souls?! Trapped within the Dangai, Kassius came to learn a lot about the outside world. The walking meat of his victims tasted different depending on when or where they were from, and especially on what they are. He understood that Shinigami, Hollows, and Humans all existed on different planes, but that the one they all shared was the World of the Living. Coming here, he was lured by the idea of brutalizing all three races, expecting a buffet of new victims. While this realm was indeed the most populated he had ever seen so far, quantity did not equal quality.

To Kassius, brutalizing the average humans of this city provided as much satisfaction as destroying a hill of ants. Like Hollows, specifically Arrancar, the Cero Espada assumed that there would be a hierarchy of power. There would be weaklings of course, but only to pick at while the main course arrived. Yet, nobody has come. The Cowgirl had piqued his interest, wanting to savor the sensation of brutalizing a new type of victim. Yet she and the shinigami had proven no greater to ants than flies. They buzzed around enough to catch his attention, but flew away from the fight, each being swatted down. It wasn’t enough. It isn’t enough.

Propelled beyond jet-engines, not through sonido, but the raw power of his musculature, Kassius soars above the skies of Karakura. His trajectory at take off had launched him through buildings initially, his Jetstream rupturing city blocks. Now however, he is high enough in the air that the City starts looking like the ant-hill it is. The Cero Espada flies towards the location of the blue comet he had witnessed, hoping that its glowing light was the reiatsu of an interesting quarry. However that fucking fly had buzzed just enough to prevent the Espada from seeing where the comet had landed. Instead he hurls towards the comet’s former spot in the sky.

Upon approach, he suddenly forms a Reishi platform, rolling his feet in front of him in a summersault formation. His black combat boots crash against the platform and send it shattering from impact, the shockwave of the collision clearing the skies in his immediate area, revealing the stars of the clear night sky. Silhouetted in the darkness, Kassius now stands in the air a mile above the city, his single eye the only thing illuminated in the night sky.

The black bead of his iris casts itself downwards, looking upon Karakura in disgust.

The solution to an infestation of insects is…

Extermination

Lo2HIOGCw4FmeOn-l2w7zBIkqr6zfcr_VYrB1jJLNuFyJ5uMV2kiL1b7cCJXBi_WUqxXgt5aghwEk_UnqUHjRjuU1j5IqIoDXyQcPAPrCyuDTSUWAPq2ZKM0YUmPlOaUTSkPbXL4_BRo4G0PcQ

Clusters of blue light wisp upwards from the city, as Kassius throws his head back, fists clenched. Unlike the Vagido that he initially used to terrorize the Human World, there would be no exhale of sound, but rather, an inhale of air. Utilizing the powerful Arrancar technique known as Gonzui (魂吸, Soul Inhalation; Viz "Soul Suck"), Kassius’ vacuum literally rips souls from their bodies, tearing the Human’s life from them as the citizens of Karakura start dropping like flies.

The silent night sky is rendered deafening with the screams of the city, which ring out in unison with such volume and terror that they reach the Cero Espada above. A smile creeps upon his face, as he continues his consumption with seemingly no end to his appetite.

Within the Diamante manor, Blume and Dominic would sense first, as the servants of the household seem to disappear, the light of their life snuffed out in an instant. Butlers fall lifeless down the stairs, Maids drop dead where they are standing, while concoctions of cooks now boil over and spill, lighting fires in their kitchens.

The same can be said for DieTECH Industries, with the massive glass spire of their headquarters now converted into a mausoleum. The building's alarms are triggered, causing the entire structure to enter lockdown mode. This would be useless in protecting the deceased employees, but would serve well to entomb their corpses.

At the Karakura General Hospital, Doctors scramble to figure out why their patients are flatlining. Watching their nurses then drop dead as well, the best they can come up with is an airborne virus, before they too are robbed of their life.

Students of Karakura High hear an announcement over the intercoms warning of a gas leak, and trample over one another to get to the door, while others open windows hoping to breath fresh air, yet even still, none make it.

The screams, though a delightful orchestra, ring out only briefly, before silence returns once more to the city.

The once crowded shopping district, is crowded no more, once bustling with commerce, now no vendor shouts for attention, denied any foot traffic, the entire district lay barren with the corpses of consumers.

The same goes for Hirohyaku Supermarket, where products have been knocked off of shelves, crashing against the cold tile, staining the bodies of the shoppers while pleasant music continues to play over the intercom.

With not even a squirrel’s movement about, the Community Park and Tsubakidai Park are barren and lifeless.

What’s worse, the Yumisawa Children's Park is too.

Genocide

The monitors of the Twelfth Division would all turn red, signifying a massive upset to the Balance of Souls. Their screens show a sudden flux of passing souls, as the entire Human District 3600 hits the negatives. Not one for sentimentality, the loss of life in itself was not a tragedy for the Shinigami, rather what is concerning is that a Jūreichi (重霊地, Important Spirit Ground; Viz "Concentrated Spirit Zone"), has been compromised to such an extent. Karakura Town is the single most important point in the Human World, which possesses the greatest concentration of spiritual beings. Utilizing Gonzui, the Cero Espada had succeeded in exposing these spiritual beings like nerve endings, both to himself, and each other.

With his feast coming to an end, the glistening streaks of light stop illuminating the skies above the city. Everything becomes still, and silent. Not a soul was spared, as Karakura town was entirely robbed of its life in a single moment. Unsatisfied with his paltry feast, Kassius’ black beady eye expands like a shark on the trail of blood. His smile is twisted and wide, showing both rows of his teeth like a true predator. This genocidal action of his, while impulsive, did serve a purpose. By consuming the souls of every weakling in the city, the Cero Espada ensured that the only ones left standing would be those with enough spiritual power to resist the pull of Gonzui. This means that any noise he hears, any person he comes across, will now possess at least a modicum of strength.

While he may have just substituted a swarm of ants for a few flies, or even perhaps a roach or two, at least now they would have nowhere to scurry and hide, nothing left to protect. Even sacrificing the population of the city might not be enough to draw out the stronger insects, the scorpions and wasps. The Brute was growing bored, tired of running around chasing his own tail. Where was the bountiful diversity of powerful victims? This place was meant to be his playground…

Well now it is time to play.

First it was his little bout with Dominic, it wasn’t the desired outcome, yet it provided Alexander with first-hand experience and knowledge of the possible strength of this Dominic. He is as strong, if not stronger than his counterpart. An amazing asset to attain, if Dominics duty to Blume allowed it.

From there the two flew into a swiftly ended altercation with the first of three invading Arrancar. Grimaldi, an Arrancar who is perhaps too eager to show his abilities off and even more so to die. Yet again Alexander is given the opportunity to examine Dominic some more. In a pincer attack the two Quincy decimate the Arrancar with ease it seems. Alexander, having invested minimal efforts, is free to scout out the capabilities of his temporary comrade some more as his fury and wrath takes hold. Without a doubt it drives the young Quincy to draw on more of his power, this time he has the intention of entirely decimating his foe and so he does. Like lightning, no, more than lightning, Dominic blitzes the released Arrancar with an unmatched brutality, what remains of the body is then eradicated completely by the ensuing barrage of countless Heilig Pfeil fired by Alexander himself. Although that is not the end of the incursion.

As previously mentioned, Grimaldi is only the first of three and the two that arrive in the midst of this swift execution are problems of their own unique kinds. Both are clocked by Alexander the moment the Garganta opens and reveals the Cero Espada and Primera Espada. Their arrival marks Alexander’s departure. Vali is correct. There is no need to display everything now, they are here for a very specific reason and that is all.

"Two more. Both incredibly powerful. For some reason one of them is almost like an anomaly, the other is just monstrous. I'm taking my leave now, we'll see how these Quincy handle this situation themselves. Dominic should be able to handle at least one of them, I don't know what Blume is like here though."

Yet again he contacts Vali with the information he has in the Arrancar and his situation. He can't help but feel almost disappointed. Dominic is by no means a let down, but the clear lack of power these Quincy hold over Karakura is almost disturbing. In the span of a minute, three Arrancar happily enter the city without a care in the world. Is this really how little influence Blume's 'empire' has? Tragic. Throughout the city Alexander can feel the presence of more Quincy among some Shinigami and numerous Hollows. Within Alexander’s scope, it is clear that these separated Quincy are different factions, completely unrelated to Blume. Divided and weak, again. He speaks into his mic once more.

"Currently, it's a mess, if I'm to be honest. There's potential but it'll take more than hard work. We're gonna need some luck my friend."

The call is ended and Alexander makes his way towards Vali's location. Any further conversation should be done face to face. His pace is slower than the other times he has maneuvered throughout this Karakura, still he is light on his feet, keeping out of sight and out of mind of those below. Each moment he spends in the city he takes in all the information provided to him. There isn't much of a functional town now throughout the devastated portions of the city but what he can glean from these parts he does. Once he finds undisturbed parts of the town, he can gather a much greater amount of information. From the recent news about the occurrences around the world. Including that of Naruki's own issue with cataclysmic damages to the city. Another conflict between the spiritually aware, it seems.

. . .

One by one. Dozens. Thousands of people drop dead with every fleeting moment. The dark skies of night are lit up by streaking comets of blue. This is not the arrows of Quincy. Souls of humans fill the sky and siphon towards a singular point. A singular Arrancar. The monstrous creature that Alexander sensed not too long ago. Throughout the entire city, each and every human soul was being robbed and consumed by this Arrancar. Alexander himself has little regard for the life of humans, or anything that is not a pureblooded Quincy, unfortunately for the Quincy however, if anything is to progress, to be manufactured, tested, the human population is a necessity within the city. A second passes as screams fade to silence and Alexander contemplates the situation. Surrounded by the countless limb bodies of soulless humans, he ruminates on his options. The deafening silence allows him to think without the annoyance of the shreiks of terror and bellows of horror. Without a modicum of urgency, he finally arrives at an answer of his own. This is not the first time he has experienced this sort of silence and it certainly will not be the last, but for the moment, no one will be allowed to revel in the delightful quiet.

1654679624512.png

In an instant the city is enveloped entirely by a veil of Alexander’s Reiryoku. A gentle blue wave that embraces everything and everyone within the city, animals, Humans, Hollow, Quincy, Shinigami. They are only given enough time to recognise the Reiryoku before everything shifts. Everything is different. Or rather, everything is the same as it was just a few seconds ago.

The main cause for this reaction, Kassius, finds himself once again rocketing through the air, unable to catch up to that blue lightning bolt he so desperately wanted to catch. Void of the many souls he had just consumed. Blume, Dominic and Marcos are forced to repeat the same steps they has only just enacted, like a movie being wound back, Dominic now just about to enter the Manor as Blume and Marcos are yet to properly introduce themselves by name. Most of all, the humans that had been robbed of their very souls are once again standing. Some run, others scream. Some play, others wait. The many civilians of Karakura return to what they were doing, wound back in time. The same goes for Alexander who prolonged his own journey towards his allies current base of Operations.

Throughout the entire city, in masses civilians spew outwards from the focal points of chaos, like insects fleeing once the sun finds them as the rotten log is pulled away from the soil they call a home. The disorder and mayhem of humans always leaves Alexander with a foul taste in his mouth. They flee like ants and trample atop those who fall behind, using them as stepping stones. Less person than animal. Almost like a Hollow, perhaps they are soon to become such a disgusting creature. Strangely enough, some stand their ground, is it out of curiosity, stubbornness, stupidity or fear? Unmoving they simply stare off into the distance where threats invisible to them rampage. Others stay at home, as though the concrete and plaster walls of their abode are impenetrable defenses, different from the rubble that lays on the streets and crumbles around them. Humans are the weakest of the lot, preyed on by even the weakest of Hollow scum, but even still, they are perhaps the most resilient of any life. The most intriguing group of things.

Alexander however, has no interest in these frantic people, in a hurry for the first time today it seems, he picks up the pace. Not due to the gravity of any one situation, but simply to get out of the streets, to free himself of having to watch the barbarism of these lesser lives. Within a moment’s notice, he finds himself at the base of the bustling headquarters of DieTECH Industries. It’s almost nostalgic for the Quincy as he steps into the boundaries of this tower. Aspects of Vali’s tastes are everywhere within the interior, although there are quite clear differences throughout. As he walks through the lobby, the eyes of the employees within are locked onto the giant of a man. He is honestly surprised to see anyone still within the building, admittedly he finds it a little on the vacant side, but that is to be expected. Truly these are some committed employees that this Vali has found himself. One of them is a receptionist. The stare of the Quincy matches her almost transfixed gaze.

“I need to speak to Mr.Dietrich. I have an urgent meeting with him.”

In most cases there would be an entire process to meeting the man himself. Today is clearly not a usual day. Almost entirely out of fear, the woman gestures a hand towards one of the elevators and stutters out what she can for directions.

“T-t-top floor, last door a-a-at the end of the corridor.”

Without a word or acknowledgement, Alexander takes those directions and soon enough he finds himself at Vali’s office door. A soft rap of his knuckles against the door is followed by his hand pushing open the door as he steps within the office space. His eyes glance around to look at the many awards, achievements and prototypes that hang up on the walls and inside cases. Impressive, certainly but there is much more to come from a greater man.

“Nice office you got yourself.”
