There are those who say in order to grow, one must return to their roots… Kasu never would’ve guessed that she would return to her old barracks, that she would walk the very halls of the Academy, and even witness the growth of every Shinigami from then on. It's as almost if she had never left and perhaps her time in the 1st Division was simply a way for her to evolve further than what they had seen in her before. Did she grow? Did she improve not only in the ways of a Shinigami but in the way of a person? She was rusty, having believed that her teaching days were over, but having observed Honoka Oki for all this time, she slowly began to release that built-up hatred and rage she once held for her. No longer the tarnished Oki in Kasu’s eyes, she had become a Captain, leader of the 3rd Division, and now Kasu stands as one of her many subordinates.

All it took was time. Slowly over these nine months, Kasu had begun to regain her teaching prowess. Even going as far as to re-learn material and study any that were new. So many new faces, Kasu managed to stay just out of the way, being only an 8th seat, it was rather easy to do so. Who’d remember her from her time in the 3rd Division? Who’d even care? Frankly, she did not… For the time being she awaited only orders from her Captain on this new day.

Beneath a tree, Kasu found time to rest. Her hands were attached to a book and her eyes were glued to its contents. She studies, just as any Shinigami should. Suddenly, the book is closed and placed beside her on the side, only for her to pick up another, one that held no words, no paragraphs, just blank pages. She held this book with one hand and the other, a pen used for sketching. Her eyes would dart upward, watching many walks past her, others train, and even more, who found time to eat before a new class would begin. Kasu draws this, capturing each moment. The tip of her pen is fast at work and her eyes never look to see what images she placed on the page.

Only a few minutes pass and the book is closed abruptly just like the last one and placed atop the other, before being grabbed and held under her arm. Kasu begins to stand up while whipping down her garments from all the dirt and grass. She inhales and exhales deeply before proceeding into a mild stride, walking towards a hallway.

So it begins…

As Kasu walks through the hallway, out from one door comes an old and familiar face, the unforgettably imposing figure of the Seventh Seat, who has been around the Third Division longer than probably anyone else at this point. She's looking a little bit more mature than the Eighth Seat remembers from her previous tenure in the Third Division, a little greyer, a little more wrinkled. Kururu has her usual eternal friendly smile on. She stops in front of Kasu, the gargantuan woman taking up most of the hallway space so she would have to move aside anyway.
"My goodness, is that Miss Shinka? It has been a considerable amount of time. I certainly hope you recognise me, but I understand if you do not - you have been away for ages. We should have some tea sometime so you can tell me about your stay at the First."

It felt… a bit strange, for Sanyu to be in these halls again after so little time away from them himself. He would hold the people of 7th in his heart dearly, taking on the memories and things he's learned from them in stride… but, he decided to try and prevent more deaths of loved ones and such, at the source… if you train them early, maybe you can prevent it less… maybe. Having lost his father, and mentor Captain Itsuki did teach him just how quickly something horrible could come. Perhaps he can inspire other students with his words and skills…

He thought about his new Squad, just as much as he did the students he would soon work with… to say he was, a bit nervous about meeting new people, and… having deep, almost ancestral thoughts about what people thought of him as a man trapped in a beast body, like his father, and those before him… his large, fluffy feet too big and misshapen for the standard sandals Shinigami wore. A place for a tail always tailored to his pants, as it sticks out, it's grey fur swishing from left to right as he walked down the hall.

He occasionally got stares from people and students in the hall, the minor gasp here or there, which made him cover his face with that fuzzy hand of his in a little embarrassment, but the break in his pace he closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and opened his eyes once more with a cheerful, calm grin on his face. Yeah, so what if he was a Komumura, and looked like a Bipedal dog. People better get used to it if they haven't by now, considering since Saijin Komumura, quite a few Komumura clan members attempted to fight for their home and realm as Shinigami. Including Sanyu's dad.

Sanyu continued his stride a bit more calmly, until he came across Kururu and… Kasu? He thinks that was her name… he did remember Kururu from his time in the academy… Kasu not quite as much. Still, both of these beings are his elders, and respect must be given, just like Gramps Komumura says. Sanyu awaited both to continue speaking before… he quietly said…

"Excuse Me…"

And took a bow, before trying to gently squeeze past the both of them and try to make his way to the entrance to the Academy… but if the two should want to make idle conversation, mayyybe he could stay for a few minutes to say hello?

Aiya was enjoying the day on a bench in the courtyard of the Academy. A light hum escaped the close mouth small student. Her eyes were closed gently while allowing her right hand to rest gently by her ear while a light sway back and forth to an unknown melody playing in her head. So many different souls allowing their songs to be heard to the young academy student. Aiya pointed her face towards the sky, enjoying the warm rays of the sun on her exposed skin.

Her left hand rested on top of a pile of books. She had been enjoying her school life these past few years and graduation is growing near, by the minute, even the second. She truly was excited to finally join her family and her lineage in the Shinigami ranks. She already knew what squad she had wished to join and her reasoning. She just hoped she could continue to graduating into the Shinigami ranks. She needed to get better, get stronger, get tougher. She was determined to. However, for now, she was enjoying herself in the courtyard. She ignored any and all notice of the passerby's, too focused on the melodies moving in and out of her head as their holders moved about there normal activities.

There was nothing like a good drum breakdown to get Shiori pumped on the morning. That and it made intrusive thoughts take a back seat, even for a moment. This was her final year in the academy, and boy was it a bittersweet feeling she'd rather not have. After all, the academy was all she'd had for the past several years, since she didn't exactly have a family to go back to. So while some of the other students could go home to see their families, Shiori just kind of lurked around the academy campus and trained. Not like there was a problem with that, since she wasn't the only one in that boat, but just maybe she'd have liked to experience having a family again. Or at least a normal one.

Shiori shifted the weight of the bag containing her books to her other shoulder, accidentally yanking one of her ear buds out of her ear. This needed to be remedied immediately, as her favorite song had just started playing. Sure, she could just pause the song or restart it once things were resituated, but that was too easy. It was about now that she finally noticed the quiet humming from behind her. Somehow during the kerfuffle with her music, she'd walked past and not noticed Aiya sitting by herself on a bench.

Shiori left the ear bud out as she walked backwards until she was right in front of her classmate. Girl had the whole world tuned out. She paused her music and waited to see how long it would take for Aiya to notice someone standing directly in front of her, but grew bored of this after a moment. She hopped up on the bench, feet planted on the seat and sat on the back rest. Her book bag set next to her, she lightly nudged Aiya with her knee.

"Morning, nerd."
