" My goodness, is that Miss Shinka? It has been a considerable amount of time. I certainly hope you recognize me, but I understand if you do not - you have been away for ages. We should have some tea sometime so you can tell me about your stay at the First."

Perhaps she should have remained outside… Having only taken a few steps in the hallway, she is approached and greeted by a slightly familiar face. Kasu’s eyes turn to daggers as they narrow as she observed the woman before her, but soon those daggers would open up to a more gentle gaze and she would finally realizes who she had been talking to…

A stranger…

Kasu had no recollection of this woman, though she knew of her rank and title among the Squad. Perhaps it is her time in the 1st Division and her rigorous hours under the thumb of Honoka Oki during her time as Head Lieutenant that her memory of most who were here during her time escaped her at the moment. Whether it took time or not, Kasu did not make an effort to remember, she simply played it off with an oh-so-convincing smile, in hopes of not upsetting her or causing a fuss over a matter so little in her eyes despite the fact that Kururu would understand if she did not

Indeed it has been a long time, and perhaps we will share some tea.

" Excuse Me…"

Kasu’s attention is grabbed by another. A male, no, an animal. One that walked, dressed and maneuvered as they did. A man who belongs to the Komamura Clan. Sanyu is among those who belong to Squad Three, a teacher’s assistant… Though Kasu expected another conversation to ensue, his words only meant that he was trying to squeeze past the two and carry on. He would not be impeded by Kasu, but perhaps his presence would grasp the attention of Kururu, leaving Kasu to continue onward on her own. If not, Kasu would gesture for the woman to follow, feeling the need to continue the conversation while they were walking…

Have you seen Captain Oki,” she asked. Her question was directed to Kururu.

Before the passing months…

Unbeknownst to Arashi Suta, the Head Lieutenant had indeed received his report and made sure to share the information provided with the Head Captain. Unfortunately, Arashi will not be able to confirm this. Due to his choice to remain outside of the Squad One barracks, the Kid Corps are unimpeded in their approach. Appearing out of nowhere through the use of Shunpo, Arashi stands with no shock in his expression. It's as if he expected this, but truly, he could not have. With no resistance from Arashi, one of the High-Priest stepped forward and spoke, informing Arashi of the orders given to them by Captain Oda. Swiftly detained, secured by a Kido barrier, Arashi is transported back to the Barracks in utter silence.

During the travel, he is left to his own thoughts. Replaying the events from earlier, even events that have since passed by. Everything that lead up to his fall from Lieutenant, Eizoku’s timely exit at the order of Captain Oda which lead to Eizoku acting out unnecessarily.

How the mighty have fallen…

Arashi is finally relieved of the barrier, but not before he is placed within a building until his quarters are restored to their former state. Remain in silence, seated in darkness. Amongst the empty space, he rests his Zanpakuto before him and it begins to glow, becoming Arashi’s only light source in the dark. To the outside world, however, the room remains totally in darkness as Arashi steps into his inner world. Provided by the darkness of his surroundings, it extends, beginning to fill with lights and galaxies similar to the vastness of space. Arashi planned to spend most of his time Quarantined contained by his inner world as well.

Only a few days have passed, and his time is spent conversing and training with his Zan Spirit and inner hollow. While the connection between them deepened the outside world was but a mystery. Periodically, he would likely be checked on. Clearly in deep meditation, no abnormal changes of any kind so Arashi is left Undisturbed.

How long has it been? Hours? Days? In his own world, time was nonexistent. Arashi will soon discover that only a few days had passed since his placement in Quarantine… The door slides open revealing the light of the world that swallows darkness around Arashi. Almost refreshing, slowly his eyes would open and his midnight blue orbs fell upon the figure.

You are released from Quarantine and free to roam as you see fit.

The High-Priest vanished after delivering the message and it is then that Arashi returns to the light. His Zanpakuto is carried in hand by the left while the other rests within the garments of his Shihakusho. His path now takes him to the training grounds. Having not moved for the few days he had been Quarantined he surely needed the exercise. The subtle flow of Reiatsu emitting from his being alerted the other members to his presence. Eyes shifting with blades already drawn. These men have been training hard, remaining on guard as they did so. Without a word, they mobilized, taking a formation that circled the 3rd Seat on all sides.

During his time as the Lieutenant, this was often the start of training. His eyes filled with genuine respect for the fact that they still wished to honor him and his teachings even though he had been demoted from his seat.

Sharpen your Spiritual Pressure, extend your blade. I am your enemy today.

Removing his hand from his Shihakusho, it is immediately placed upon the handle of his Zanpakuto. His spiritual pressure does not increase further, instead, his spiritual energy condenses hugging against his being. It becomes refined, solid, a literal blade. In his eyes a resolve, a focus so deep that it pierces through the men that surround him, and still, they remain.

Fight with conviction… Fight to live.

“ Yes Sir!”

It is through these passing months that the ground is soaked with sweat and tears. Arashi becomes a force they could not hope to overcome. Their efforts fell short. Zanjutsu, Hakuda, and even Kido could not turn the tide of battle against the Sun-Light-Swordsman, Arashi Suta. His Zanpakuto remained sealed, housed within the confines of its scabbard. Their Kido was broken and canceled out, there Hakuda countered and was punished by a heavy strike from Arashi using his free hand or the Zanpakuto for blunt force upon impact. Their usage of Zanjutsu would be no different.

Each day, however, their skills would adapt. They’d improve, but so would Arashi. He seemed to always maintain the upper hand against the lot of them.

The Present Day…

It wasn’t until the present day after the passing of nine months that one of them came close to landing a hit on Arashi. They celebrated, eager to be congratulated, but no. Instead, the one person that came close to doing so is met with Arashi’s blade to his throat.

You celebrate, missing your target?

The air grows dense, shaking with the weight of his tone. The many grew silent, stricken by the weight of Arashi’s spiritual pressure.

Do not be a fool.

Arashi removed his blade from his throat, its sharp edge leaving a small cut on the throat.

Training is concluded for today. As you unwind remember to be relentless in battle. No matter the obstacle. No matter your success. Overcome your odds and move on to the next. DO NOT celebrate. There will be no trophy, no applause, no cheering. This is not the Kenpachi Games.

“ Yes sir!”

Sheathing his Zanpakuto, Arashi begins his way back to his Quarters, but not before passing by the Lieutenant's office. Standing just outside, his head never turning for his eyes to see what he had lost. All he could do from this point is move forward. Growing even at the bottom of the mountain.

Eventually, Arashi begins walking again, continuing his path toward his Quarters.

“One…”

The number one, symbolic of the beginning of something, or the best at any given thing. For this one, it was the start of his daily routine upon first waking up. With one hand firmly placed onto the ground, his other arm placed onto his back, his fist balled up, he began to push his body upwards with the correct posture for a push up.

Everything has a foundation; The basics in which something is built upon: the starting point. As such the very development of things from then on will only be as good as the foundation that has been established. This foundation, whether it be conceptualized or concrete, exists in every capacity of every life. With the Soul Society, the foundation for a majority of the Shinigami is the Academy. Some Shinigami have bypassed the usual route of entering and graduating the Academy, but for those who spent their time training and honing their skills while within classrooms, forging friendships, alliances, enemies, and rivals, the true purpose lies in the foundation…. The beginning – one.

His days of being an Academy student had long passed him, and despite the number of comical faces he met during his venture, his purpose was different than that of the number of others that were enrolled within the Academy. With his fate being handed to him on a platter, he was fed the rules and regulations of what he was being sculpted to be. With this forged weapon that was once within the Second Division, Zhou Fēng now emerged and began to blossom within the 3rd Division. Could it have been fate leading him here? Not only was he currently in this division, but Sanyu, one from the Komamura clan, was also within the division as well. Not only this, but a number of other souls that once held ties to the Third Division via the Academy had now been led back to their roots – to their own foundation.

9 months had passed, and within those nine months a number of things were brought to light. The Soul Society as it once was … wasn’t the same. Lives of powerful souls were lost. Regardless of what is gained, whether it be lives anew, the ascendancy to captaincy, or a newfound strength, nothing can replace the lives that were lost. This held a heavy meaning to Zhou, and he could not help but to wonder if it were the very roots, the foundation, to be blamed for the loss of their lives. With the world changing as it was, at a rapid rate at that, it was no better time than to grow towards the limitless skies that stretched over each and every Soul’s head within the Soul Society.

“Well, well, congratulations on your promotion… I think someone else held this spot previously… You don’t think she’d challenge you for your position, would she?”

Zhou, being the type of soul he was, was keen on information, and knowing about others, as the stark contrast of him was apparent. He had known about Kururu and the fact that she was, indeed, an older soul who had wandered the halls for a number of years. With a spirit so old, vast knowledge was her forte, and he had known that she had taught a number of students within her time. Unfortunately, Zhou was not one of the ones that was privy to be under her tutelage. Regardless of him not truly having any sort of relationship with her, other than being squad mates for a short amount of time, Zhou did have a firm grasp on who she was as a soul. That was the price of being someone that was around for such a long time – they were an open book and Zhou was an avid reader.

Not only Kururu, but they all were. Although the games were as entertaining as can be, did one really think that the games were a form of entertainment? It was the exact opposite; The games were an inspiration, a guide, a pamphlet showcasing the strengths AND weakness of the contestants. This was just how Zhou worked, but in truth, this was the catalyst for his growth – seeing how others grew paired with the need for him to grow as well, led him to ascend to heights that some could only dream of reaching. With his growth – could it have been the reason for his newly made promotion? What exactly did the Oki see in him – a transfer from the Second Division. Easily, one could have assumed that he was someone that was a snake – someone meant to shadow the actions of Honoka. Regardless, she elected him to be her current third seat.

”She could, it would be pretty fair, don’t you think…. That was two thousand, five hundred, seventy six, right?”

Zhou said, not even a bead of sweat left his eyebrow. Instead, he lifted his legs up into the air, pushing himself upwards before curling over and landing onto his feet. With the kind of training Zhou endured, Zhou’s relationship with Shujin Kagi was forced to blossom to a degree where internal conversations like this were normal. After his daily warm-up, Zhou was on his way walking through the halls of the Academy.

Briefly moving through the halls, Zhou was literally in the same location as three members of the third division. At first glance, he wondered if they were throwing a party or something of that nature. He didn’t want to intrude, instead, he elected to continue moving – that distinct scar paired with those silver eyes denoted just who he was. There was no mistaking him – just like there was no mistaking the dog, amazon, or the “sista” from the 80’s. Moving through the hallways, it seemed that Zhou was making his way towards one of the many courtyards the Academy had – seemingly not too far from where his first exchange with Asahi was.

She was gingerly interrupted by the quiet Komamura boy who wanted only passage between the two women. Her hands were together hiding within her sleeves.
"Oh my, I appear to be in your way, young man. Sanyu, was it? It is good to have you helping around."
She then moves out of his way, she wanted to give him a kind pat on the head, but she knows how sensitive his clan can be about such things, the proud race of warriors they are. "So much like his grandfather..." she thought to herself.
Kururu gave only a warm smile to Kasu. "Unfortunately my dear, I have not seen our Captain. I have a new batch of hopefuls I have been filling my time with -- now that we are being personally assigned pupils, I can spend more time with them one-on-one. "
The ancient mentor spots one of the newer transfers, the burgeoning young noble Zhou Fēng and the man that had supplanted her rather than succeeded her. A tremendous misfortune to the bright young Shinigami.
She speaks clearly by projecting her voice across the way and waves slowly with her left hand. "My oh my sir, would you not take a pause for a moment to greet your subordinates?" She said in a somewhat playful tone.

"Your soul song is still as sour as always, harming a beautiful melody of this wonderful day Shiori-Chan."

Aiya kept her eyes closed sensing Shiori's presence along with feeling the bench creak and groan slightly from the sudden added weight of the woman to one point. Aiya allowed a sigh to escape as she lost focus of the Melody in her head before watching the fellow female. Aiya has always had to deal with the fellow student being maybe rude, maybe a bit playful banter, but today was not exactly one day Aiya wanted soured.

"Also, I do not know how many times I must tell you, Shiori- Chan. My name is Aiya Ayako Munetoshi. Honestly, I do not know how many times you must be told this. I do understand it is not of your worth to acknowledge my name, but it would suit you well in the future as we just may have to assist each other when upholding the balance of the soul Cycle."

Aiya kept her sweet happy appearance and sounding voice infront of Shiori, but she did enough the annoyance of the arrogance of her fellow classmate did indeed hold a sour note in the melody of the day. She closed her eyes, keeping her happy expression on her face while standing up grabbing her books before adjusting her blade back in her waist band.

"Now Shiori-Chan, make your melody happier and be glad to be here, there is so much learning to do and so little time for your sour melody today."
