Rustling stirred a mountain of paperwork, it piled up high in a disorganized mess. Rather, the pile would be perceived as a mess from an outside perspective, but every paper was specifically placed. Either way the haystack of paperwork was crowding Emi’s small office and desk; promoted or not she willingly chose to stay where she had begun. The rustling stirred a feline companion that rested nearby, causing the young cat to awaken. Sona, a cat against all things irritable in noise, decided to poke her head in the pile of papers.
Chirping as a means to alert Emi, Sona burrowed her way through until they met face to face. Emi was passed out, overworking herself as the new usual over these past hundred years. She, in fact, had not gone on any mini-adventures or acquired any new feline companions. Her prototypes were put away, as the promotion came with daunting amounts of paperwork, and hadn’t been touched since. The sleeping beauty rustled out of the papers and held up Sona, looking around at the disparity of her workplace.
“Oh Sona, what did I get myself into? Let’s clean up a bit and we’ll gather everyone.”
And so, they cleaned. Sona was still mad at all the noise, but assisted where she could. The small fluffball did more than Emi thanked her for; or so she thought. Once the cat’s part in this was done, she laid upon the cleaned desk contently as Emi still worked to organize the piles into smaller more manageable categories.
Emi only chuckled at the sight of Sona, such ease of mind was a luxury only for cats it seemed. The time of day was much too late for Emi to have excuses, she simply overslept in her workspace. Thus, when the piles were of manageable size, Emi scooped up Sona and brought her to the back of the barracks. Upon arrival, Emi did a little ps ps ps to call the rest of them. All fifteen of her feline companions gathered ‘round and Emi gave them each some pats upon their adorable heads. Some enjoyed it, others pretended not to.
“Alright lovelies, back to work I’m afraid. Thank you for keeping the spa and bathhouses intact, you do a lovely job.”
They all scampered off in their own directions, but Thandh stayed behind. Crouching down to her, Emi looked rather confused. While she was more talkative to her cats, they never gave so much communication back.
“What’s wrong little one?”
Thandh started off in a direction, and Emi thought maybe the feline was just taking a late departure. But no, she stopped after a few feet and looked back; a sign that Emi was to follow her. Standing slowly, she was soon following Thandh about the barracks all the way to the front. Two of the staff seemed to be in distress before a very stern young man. Emi wasn’t one for confrontation either, but snuck into the conversation after listening for a bit.
He seemed to be inquiring about a patient, and while Emi dealt little with patients she knew where the in-and-out book was. Slinking behind the appropriate desk; aiming to keep out of sight until she acquired the answer, Emi looked through some pages. Himari Shimizu, Himari Shimizu, Himari Shimizu… Ah, brought in, like he said, for the missing arms. However, last check in was about an hour ago, with no updates. Probably for the best, physical damages heal way faster, but most stay longer for the emotional.
Thandh padded over between the ladies and the tall gent, sitting between them and meowing loudly. A nice distraction as Emi creeped up behind the girls; though in no way trying to scare them. Emi just preferred to stay out of sight, and out of mind. She even went to the trouble of concealing all of her Reiatsu at all times. Her voice was more prominent when talking to her feline friends; but to people, it was rather soft. Hopefully they would hear her as she clammed up a bit.
While she would have liked to say, “Her last check in was an hour ago, would you like to accompany me to see her? As far as this log says, her arms were successfully reattached with full functionality.” The words fell short of this, and she buried her face behind the log. Speaking with people was definitely not her strong suit and she hadn’t improved it whatsoever.
“Need to check.. Come with? ..Log says the arms work. …”
Whether or not he said yes to this half attempt of asking him to follow her, Thandh and Emi started to make their way towards Miss Shimizu’s room. They briskly walked there, for there was little time to do anything these days it seemed.
