[Arrival in Rukongai from Central Seireitei]
A silent foot touches down on the grounds of the Rukongai. Landing in the Districts closest to the Seireitei, his surroundings are clean, well kept...unblemished. The comparison to the furthest Districts like night and day. Those around take notice of the young Captain, mummering and whispering to one another, gawking at a distance. Unfamiliar with the face of this particular shinigami...no, this particular Captain. Uncertain to why he’s there, his purpose, his intentions. Kyomu pays the surrounding audience no mind, each life around him insignificant in comparison to those he sought out, those lives that wander about free—and their freedom, was his damnation.
Before the masses could muster their meager courage to approach the Silent Killer, before they could inquire on why he was there in hopes of quelling their silent fears, he was gone. They stare in that vacant spot, mouths slightly agape, looking to one another to confirm they all saw the same thing, each one questioning their own sight. Maybe they were fine, perhaps there wasn’t any cause for concern at all.
These ignorant fools couldn’t be more WRONG

A thin line etches itself across the otherwise undisturbed skies, a long laceration lingering in place. It begins to twist and contort before finally it tears itself open wide like a massive maw. Inside the newly formed cavity exists only darkness, deep and impenetrable. A Garganta had formed within the Soul Society, over the Rukongai, it was a sight that sent a shiver down the spines of many who saw it. Neighboring districts within the Rukongai ceased all activities. Stores, shops and stalls ceased their bargaining and selling of wares, customers stopped their purchases, criminals and cut throats found themselves frozen while the poor and despondent along with those of average class all stopped. For a moment they were all united as one, united under a banner of confusion, of disbelief. They were joined together, frozen and locked in place under the banner of fear. Slowly they began to fall to their knees, first in small groups, and then large clusters, rescinding themselves to their inevitable end.
Kyomu as he dove deeper into the Rukongai, like the others also noticed the massive Garganta scarring the sky. What did this mean, was it an invasion? Should he go to investigate? No! He had his mission, if it was an invasion, then the Seventh Division would need to see to it that the situation was properly handled. The Captain Pressed on, and in doing so he realized that he, like many others had misinterpreted the purpose of the Garganta. The sky that was once blemishless, once a magnificent shade of blues touched with white had quickly grown corrupted. It was as if the heavens had been wounded, and now was bleeding. The earth below bathed in a crimson glow as a distant red pillar rose towards the sky, drawn into the Garganta by some unknown force.
”What is-”
“All available Shinigami, heed this call.”
Kyomu’s eyes widen at the sound of a familiar voice, the voice of none other than his Lieutenant. ’Yasu?’ Caught off guard by the distant display, then again by the sudden unexpected sound of his Lieutenant’s voice he is distracted. The sight of the distant pillar vanishing from existence, the sight of the massive Garganta collapsing on itself all lost to him.
” A Garganta has appeared in the 77th District of the Eastern Rukongai! Calling all available assets to respond. A Garganta has--”
BOOOOOOOOOOOM
The explosion is so loud that, despite his distance from the Seventy Seventh District he still hears it, he hears it twice over through his own ears as well as through his Lieutenant’s transmission, the very same transmission that is forcefully ended.
….
The Captain hastens his steps. Ignorant to the cause of the explosion, he rushes forward, uncertain of his Lieutenant’s fate. He clenches his teeth, thoughts of his subordinates who sacrificed themselves for his mission flashes within his mind, the image of Yasu soon joins theirs. She had gone to the Rukongai on his orders, to help correct a mistake caused by the one he entrusted the task to, ultimately making him responsible. Would he be responsible for the death of another who had trusted him? Would he have to carry the burden of another’s life he had hoped to protect?
The Phantom hurries himself, tracing his steps towards the source of the blast in hopes of finding his Lieutenant, and not a corpse.

Arashi_NT_part_2.png

His men stand confident, assured in their own efforts. They act, and they deliver. Chaos ensues as both Kido are launched in quick succession, and with success, they land upon the dormant target. They believed their job to be over. They equally believed that their efforts held lasting and celebratory effects. Oh, how they and Arashi are so very wrong... He hoped to have expected the unexpected, but he and his comrades are not prepared for the next disastrous moments of their lives. The monstrous might of both Kido only surmounted to the activation of the Soul King’s blood. This becomes painfully clear, as the smoke clears to reveal that such masterful levels of power held no absolute effect. The Soul King’s blood once a sleeping beast, awakened by an outside force. It moves violently, tossing and turning, aggravated almost. No… eager. Flowing with overwhelming power, the blood will soon erupt, and behind the masks of the Kido Corps, they realize this quickly. Effectively they back away, they move with heightened amounts of caution, but they still had no idea of what they've done.
Poor Arashi, who stands alongside Captain Itsuki, is unable to get through his response to the bombard of questions thrown his way. Unable to see through to the order that was given to him at the moment. Once again, he is forced like many times before, to face the dangers of his job. His eyes-lids peel back slowly, midnight blue orbs sweep the scene, and the air of uncertainty washes over his face. He is bewildered to see the power of the Kido Corp conclude to be an absolute failure. Beside him, Captain Itsuki acts in response to his own intuition. The bloodhound removes his Zanpakuto quickly, expecting an immediate danger to approach the group.
As if his sixth sense couldn’t be more impeccable
A single black line stretches across the sky, moving as far as the eye can see. His eyes turn upward, and already his face spoke disturbing words that could not be fixed by the body-part that was made for such a purpose. Frozen in place, stuck within what felt like quicksand and as the black line contorts, bends, and rips the sky above. The maw of darkness, larger than any he has ever seen. Who or what could have produced this size and magnitude? He couldn’t panic, although, his heart right now is the only thing that moves at a high rate. He couldn’t move a hand to clutch and embrace the frightening pumping of his beating organ. The once questioning tone of Captain Itsuki turned into something that could not be described, only labeled as a battle-craze-fiend. Having remained so close to the Captain, he felt elated, writhing with exhilaration. His frozen state thaws out as quickly as it had come. In similarity to Captain Itsuki’s action, he draws his Zanpakuto, and the blade glows with a blinding light. Once again, his Shikai is in play…
“KAKAKAKAKA!”
The maddening laugh coalesced with primal tendencies that became so palpable it touched the hearts of others. It further enhances Arashi’s readiness, his drive to battle, and protect everyone who had been involved in this mission, but such nobility and courage are soon to be all for naught. Both Captain Itsuki, Lieutenant Suta, and others who lay witness to the gigantic Garganta expected the release of a legion of Hollows to ravage the lands of the Rukongai. All remain clueless to its true function, its purpose for arriving here at this time. Like the Captain, Arashi waits and still, the blood boils and thrashes about. His comrades stare in awe, as well as confusion at this point…
Captain Itsuki proceeds in the release of his Shikai, red tendrils fling and rips into the earth, spreading over a vast distance in preparation for a battle that will never come. The bloodhound laughs and barks to the sky, announcing his feelings and unyielding resolve! Arashi stands alert but curious. He questions the unnatural occurrence. It felt as though the Garganta was called here by the blood pit. His gaze removes itself from the colossal Garganta and glances back towards the Soul King’s blood.
Gurggle Gurggle Gurggle POP
The fuming beast erupts, sending quakes throughout the entire area, sending the young Lieutenant to his hands and knees, nearly going face-first into the ground. As he begins to stand back up, heaving to find his footing, his eyes witness the blood whip and churn becoming a whirlpool that threatens to drag anything or anyone within its otherworldly embrace. The activity continues, becoming far more violent with every passing moment. Ultimately, the blood pulls itself from the ground becoming a hurricane of terror and destruction. Everything composed of reishi begins to steam, sizzling at its very surface. Hoshizora responds, as bits and pieces of light that make up his blade are removed, now becoming an orb-shaped barrier around his body. However, Arashi thought of his comrades in the midst of this creation. Pieces of light tear from the barrier, extending and reaching his comrades at unprecedented speeds. The Kido Corps, what was left of them at least were encased in the same orb that surrounds Arashi. Unfortunately, there were a couple of his comrades that fell victim to the unrelenting force of the Soul King’s blood… Unable to mourn their deaths, Arashi made sure Himari was safe within one of these orbs of light as well. As for Eizoku, he managed his own escape, at least he had hoped.
Such an idea stemmed from the Kokotsu incident, he only hoped that he could save them, just like he saved the countless number of citizens from the Rukongai. Quickly, Arashi sends his comrades away from the Encampment, passing the very road that lead them here. Their bodies soaring above the tree lines at an alarming rate still protected by the barrier of light until finally descending towards the ground and their protective barrier dispersing. With their escape in the works by his own doing, Arashi still remains, he and only Captain Itsuki seemingly at this moment.
The howling winds of the hurricane make it difficult for him to hear any orders that may have been given to him by Captain Itsuki. Dust and debris moving and thrashing about made it equally difficult for him to see what was going on around him. However, the Garganta and the torrent of blood remain clear, unmistakably visible to him, and all who stand too far from the scene. Before long, the torrent of blood transforms into a pillar, rising, pulled from the encampment, and into the massive maw of the Garganta. The once blue sky now painted red, the Garganta having become the eye of carnage now closes once the final drop of blood has escaped the now barren crater. Not a single drop is left. The Garganta closes as quickly as it came.
Was that it?...
Just... gone?...
For only a moment, the area is graced with silence. The calm before the impending storm…
“All available Shinigami, heed this call. A Garganta has appeared in the 77th District of the Eastern Rukongai! Calling all available assets to respond. A Garganta has--”
Lieutenant Yugure’s transmission coming through, captured by all who can receive before the abrupt and sudden-
BOOOOOOOOOOOM
Incinerating heat, and burning dust escape the crater, spreading with wicked speed and overwhelming proportions, engulfing the entire encampment within seconds, leaving Arashi trapped within the protective wall of Captain Itsuki’s Itobeni. Yet another, he now owes his life to… His smile had long faded. His eyes had long closed. Unable to sense his comrades, and pushed him to wonder if they had made it safely or not even with his efforts to save the ones who remained… So far his own barrier had protected him from the harsh environment that will soon begin to fade and die out. He wasn’t sure how Captain Itsuki was fairing against all of this, but as a Captain, he saw nothing but resilience and perseverance in his stature.
“ Now…”
After some time, the ringing in his ears had subsided. Noticeably, blood runs from his nose and ears. His Shihakusho and hakama were torn and tattered. Skin still felt like it was burning. He wasn’t sure how long he would've last if it wasn't for Hoshizora and Captain Itsuki. The bloodhound finally spoke up, causing Arashi’s head to rise a bit.
“ So I’ma need y’all to follow some pretty strange orders, but don’t cha worry, ole Itsuki has got a plan.”
” A plan…?”

Perplexed at this statement. While he trusted in his ability, he wasn’t too sure of his judgment. Then again, who was he to question others' judgment after everything that has transpired? However, Arashi quickly realized who he was referring to, and even quicker he intervenes.
” Captain, I’ve already removed my subordinates as far away as possible. There is no reason for us to remain here…”
” Once again, you are cradled by the hands of another. First Kasumi, then the Commander, and now this mut of a Captain! Fucking pitiful Arashi… PITIFUL!”
His inner-hollow ignored, but his claws run deeper than they ever have before. Feeling the doubt and disgrace within Arashi swell… His hand moves up to cover half of his face. His eye has changed colors at this point, matching the same eyes that resembled his hollow counterpart. It was getting worse, he wasn’t sure how long he could maintain this sense of control he had. This place. His fear. The occurrences. All this destruction. It only stirred the pot within him more.
” Is it safe to go yet?”
Speaking as he turns away from Captain Itsuki, his voice coalesced with the Hollow inside of him, giving him what sounded like a robotic tone or rather gurgling sound. However, it doesn’t fall short of demonic in its appearance.

Captain Oda and his Kido Corps entourage close in on the cloud caused by the devastation left in the wake of Soul King's blood vanishing suddenly. Though this information is unknown to the man he cycles through the possibilities of what happened based on what information he has. Yasu stated in her message a Garganta opened up shortly after this the transmission was cut short, that must have been when the eruption took place. Gliding through the air the Kido Chief glances towards the riverbed that once held the blood of the Soul King, it was dry as if it had not held a source of water for centuries. The river is gone, his Division succeeded in their operation and perhaps destroying the river lead to the land erupting… But why would the Garganta show up? What was its purpose? Irrelevant, he’ll get a detailed report on what happened here from at least one person of the surviving group. The Captain’s momentum halts and in unison so does the Kido Corps and the four members of Fifth Division that remain with them. The heat of the dust cloud is felt at a distance, even high up in the air where the group is positioned as the heat rises, heat that may have been carried out from below the ground. He begins to draw his Zanpakuto and gives out an order to one of the Priestesses.
”One of you use Bakudō #58. Kakushitsuijaku. (摑趾追雀, Summoning of the Tracking Sparrows; Viz "Seize Foot, Chase Sparrow") I need a headcount on survivors down there.”
As he was speaking his Zanpakuto shifts into its Shikai, ordinarily he could have sensed those below but his focus was being diverted elsewhere, to an idea of sorts. Since entering the Gotei 13 he has worked hard to maintain control, to limit himself so that his barbaric nature never arises and has him face the same exilement his family had to deal with. Nothing symbolizes this better than his very own Shikai. The chain is more than just an extension and tool for his Shikai; it is also a representation of control and limits. But for the first time in years he was able to open up all thanks to Commander Murasaki and his fellow Captains. He was finally able to breath and let go and through letting go he was able to clear his mind. He thought himself to be at peace, to be truly empty, however, he was and is full of doubt, self conscious, and fear. These burdens weighed upon him but through that short release he had in battle he felt lighter, the light of day seemed more clear, and the weight of his Zanpakuto was lessened. The path to Nirvana, to enlightenment, was revealed to him though the path is foggy with obstacles hidden by this fog he can see the path. Now he must walk it and cast off his worries one at a time.
”Chief, we have detected the Lt with another Fifth Division member. We also detect two other Shinigami signatures one being Captain Asakura and the other Lt. Yasu Yugure. It seems like more of our Division were displaced down the road from us as well.”
In My Spirit
Tenzen does not respond to the report as he adjusts the chains on his left hand so that he may grip his Zanpakuto with both hands. The flowing mist that emanates from his blade stops falling and flairs up like a flame. He takes a traditional Kendo stance and looks straight ahead, his eyes are relaxed without emotion, without a sense of self. There is nothing sensed from the man though he physically stands before them it is as if his presence fades from existence. He begins to raise his Zanpakuto over his head, as his arms move up he speaks to his Division.
”Surround the area, work together and create a large scale Goyōgai (五養蓋, Five Support Cover) to stabilize the ground and ensure further collapse is stopped while we evacuate those inside. You’ll know when to erect the barrier.”
The Priestesses and their guards spread out surrounding the entirety of the area affected by the collapsing earth. The smoke is thick, too thick to see inside and the heat that it is mixed with will only burn the throat and eyes upon entry. Putting that much smoke in a box with nowhere to go will only make things worse. This is what Tenzen had been prepping for, through this fragment of clarity he will not restrict the usage of his Zanpakuto and let it act as it should. If his Zanpakuto brings emptiness to the world then he will empty himself as well to ensure it can do just that.
Ryōdan (両断, Bisection) is a Zanjutsu technique where the practitioner places both hands on their weapon and swings down with enough force to cut an opponent in half down the middle. This technique fits perfectly with Tenzen’s Nodachi he uses in Shikai. Already poised to strike, orders given out with the Priestesses already in position, all that is left to do is follow through. There is no bulging of muscles, no ramping up of physical strength, there is only grace and form. He brings his arms down, a light grip that shifts as he follows through with the strike so that the blade may slice. What does it slice? The very air itself. Positioned in the sky he has a birds eye view of the chaos below with an optimal position to remove the smoke he faces. His blade moves like a knife through the most tender of meats until he reaches the end of his swinging arc. Two meters ahead of him is a golden crescent of energy that hurdles through the air that lengthens itself during its travel. This energy “cuts” into the smoke passing through it like a hot knife through butter resulting in the plume of smoke being bisected down the middle, however, this bisection does not reach the ground level. Before the members of the Kido Corps have a chance to act, a vacuum is formed from the missing air that was erased along the travel path of that golden energy, which vanishes before it hits the ground below.
WOOOOOOOOOOSH!!
The sound of air rushing forward to fill the void left behind is heard across the entire area as this violent torrent of wind pushes against the mass of smoke blowing it out of the area and across the other districts of the Rukongai. Districts 78-80, in this specific area, would have a cloud of dust and debris hovering and raining down upon it. For those who were trapped in the smoke they should now be able to see the light of day once more only to have it tinted by the orange casing of Goyōgai that encases the area and places it in a sort of stasis. This does not fix the problem but it stops the ground from collapsing any further and since it is not being used to keep another being stabilized less energy is needed and thus it can be maintained for much longer. Tenzen holds his Zanpakuto horizontally and places the flat of his blade on his left hand, closing his eyes for a brief moment. He stands before his Zanpakuto spirit; they look at each other and no words are exchanged between them, only a silent understanding between them as Tenzen opens his eyes and returns to reality once more. His Zanpakuto returns to its sealed state and is sheathed while he makes his way inside the barrier to make his way down to those in his division.
With the area in stasis it was safe to stand on the ground along with the hot air being washed away and no more of it rising those within the barrier can rest easy. He looks around, taking stock of everyone's condition. He notices Eizoku’s structure and narrows his eyes, he was not supposed here at all, he will be dealt with momentarily. He marches over to his Lieutenant, positions himself between Captain Asakura and Arashi then points at the Lt.
”Rikujōkōrō” (六杖光牢, Six Rods Prison of Light; Viz "Six-Rod Light Restraint")
Six beams of light with white outlines slam into the midsection of Arashi to attempt in restraining the young man. An obvious disturbance was resonating from him and it had to be put under control before something else happened. Still nothing can be sensed from Tenzen even after casting a level Sixty Bakudo, knowing of the affliction he shares with both the Lieutenants present he takes extra care in making sure they are getting a hold of themselves.
”Hey, let me out so I can say hello to my siblings. It's been soooooo long since we last spoke and you know family has to stay in contact!”
Like the others his Hollow tries to stir trouble with taunting and it finds no ground. He looks over his shoulder at Yasu, he thinks about restraining her as well but hopefully with the smoke and panik gone she can calm herself down. Arashi’s case was far too obvious to ignore at the moment.
”It’s been a while, Captain Asakura. I was recently promoted to Captain of Fifth Division and The Grand Kido Chief. No need to worry about my Lt here, the proper precautions are in place and should that not be enough, I will cut him down.”
There was no misunderstanding his tone, he meant what he said. He wants to help his Lieutenant but he also does not want to endanger the Soul Society. He stands silently waiting for Itsuki to respond to him, hoping that they could just move out of the area and converse at their leisure about the events that took place here.

' ' CLACK ! ' '
The all too familiar sound of tiles smacking into the roof base boards. The music of emergency when quickened the song of peace when unheard. Most only use the roof tops to Shunpo from one to the next, use a burst of speed to propel momentum and then continue utilizing Shunpo until their destination is reached. An oddly calming sound to Kiku as each one shot him closer and closer to the Rukongai.
Eventually the song of crisis was diverted by a large gap between Kiku's intended location and his current. Springing forth with the slightest crease in his legs, Kiku shot himself off the last tiled roof and over the massive door closing off the Seireitei from the Rukongai. Now his feet made no noise as they manifested reshi platforms underneath each Shunpo. The slight crunch of fabric and shuffle of his hair could be the only sounds heard as he glided towards the reaitsu of Captain Oda and the others he took with him. The state of the Rukongai was bad. Clouds of smoke and heat filled the area, turning his body in the air, Kiku suddenly found where Captain Oda and the others had stopped.
As Kiku's figure suddenly blurred into full saturation behind Captain Oda, the others were using Goyōgai (五養蓋, Five Support Cover), in no doubt a means to get as much intel on the survivors. As he walked upon the air towards the Captain he sought to learn from, Kiku overheard another.
”Chief, we have detected the Lt with another Fifth Division member. We also detect two other Shinigami signatures one being Captain Asakura and the other Lt. Yasu Yugure. It seems like more of our Division were displaced down the road from us as well.”
The Captain is silent, he moves with a calculated precision, one that is impressive to Kiku. It appears as if this man knows what actions to take as if he has done all this before. There is no hesitation only the confidence of his actions. Kiku hasn't gotten to experience many other Shinigami in the field like this. It was always interesting to watch another work. He is silent and remains calm as well, instead of focusing on Tenzen's actions, Kiku starts to prepare support of his own. Taking a further stance away from Captain Oda, Kiku would unsheathe his Zanpakuto. Immediately taking action in his own right. Awaiting for the Kido corps to support the ground, he goes off farther and farther left of Captain Oda. Until he thought it was safe enough distance to sling his Zanpakuto diagonal while focusing the same reiatsu as from the Captains Hall. With a splash of water cascading to the Rukongai below, Kiku's Shikai splashed into existence once more.

' ' WHOOOOOOOOSH ! ! ' '
What's right in his heart.
The Captain of Fifth let loose a might vertical slash with little to no effort, it shot a gust of whirlwind into the valley below. The smoke shooting anyway it can conform to escape the mighty gale. Kiku looked over to Tenzen and nodded his way and then shoot off to the ground below. Thanks to Tenzen the heat was dissipating quicker and quicker, as sight was being restored rapidly. Kiku was falling like a meteor, yet not to the others like Captain Oda was, Kiku was shooting towards the nearest sign of debris and damage. Instead of landing with force and causing tremors to the already unstable ground below. Kiku landed Shikai first, the large chunk of building would immediately be absorbed into the mop head. Using a reshi platform to secure the weight of his body he would turn and leap to another chunk of rock that looked massive. Spinning the mop around his body he swiped it casually by during the leap. Landing next to it's previous location with a light flop and cloud of dust wafting up.
His effort wasn't to clean up the Rukongai, as the rubble he removed was absorbed into the Mop head, a few souls would linger out from underneath and cough praise of thanks as they ran quickly passed Kiku to check on other loved ones. The weight of the building and large boulders that split from the earth would no doubt help the Kido Corps maintain the structure of the ground under their feet. Slinging his mop over his shoulder he would walk towards the Captains and the others.
Walking up to see Captain Oda Address Captain Asakura, and Lieutenant Suta being restrained by ”Rikujōkōrō” (六杖光牢, Six Rods Prison of Light; Viz "Six-Rod Light Restraint") Kiku decided to remain silent with his Shikai hung over his shoulder. He was close enough to Shunpo to someone's aide, and far enough to not warrant an introduction just yet. Kiku would hang on the fringes of this meeting and await orders from Captain Oda.
