An uncomfortable silence had settled over the space the moment their Captain had entered the room. The fear and respect for the man that had created the sudden tension was palpable. Hands clasped together behind her back she stood shoulder to shoulder with the members of her squad as the meeting began. Although listening intently, her bright eyes had a hazy look to them as if she were a million miles away. Her knowledge of the two top seats were fairly basic, preferring to get to know a person by interaction rather than word of mouth. She saw little potential for that endeavor with the Captain, however, with his second being a possibility with her enthusiastic behavior. For now, Kazumi was content with her lot, a pang of pity filling her at the obvious desires of the man who knelt down before the Captain and gave his report. It took the briefest of glances of his face to be aware of his ambitions, though from all she had seen he had no true drive to actually complete his goal. A title was a title, it seemed irrelevant, and looking at the faces of the first two seats one could tell that was where they belonged. Despite her flamboyant nature it was very obvious Lieutenant Yugure was more than capable, and beyond that, a force to be reckoned with. Eyes darting about she felt a pride to be in this squad, happy to have been accepted to her first choice.
Meeting adjourned she bowed in unison with her squad members and left the room in a quick manner, though the movements were coordinated and controlled. The "Maggot's Nest", hm? She had heard of it though she had never beheld it with her own eyes. She was aware that under normal circumstances weapons were not allowed, though at this moment she did have permission to bring them along. That was still a dangerous concept. Glancing down at herself she clicked her tongue with disapproval. She was a walking arsenal. A projectile launcher on her right wrist and up her forearm, a bit clunky and awkward but strangely light. Straps on each leg, one a pouch filled with poisons and herbs, the other leg encircled with kunai. Then of course there was her Zanpakuto. Still unaware and too green to know the exacts of the situation her first course of action was to remedy her appearance.
Within her room she slid on a light blue haori, cinching it tight about her waist with a black sash before giving herself a glance in the mirror. The oversized clothing covered her weapons, any bulky areas from them appearing to simply be bunched up fabric. This would do well enough to keep most eyes away from her. The tiny woman had a nonthreatening look about her, small stature and kind face showing no killer instincts whatsoever. A more observant eye would be able to catch sight of what she was hiding, though she knew the scenario she was about to face and mentally prepared herself to focus closely on her surroundings, leaving little chance for anyone to get too near without her permission or knowledge. Satisfied with her clothing adjustments she exited the barracks, making her way to the Maggot's Nest.
Arms crossed with her hands hidden within the sleeves of the haori she advanced toward the strange place, stopping for a moment to take in the sight of it. It was guarded well, though she expected nothing less.
Moving forward, her black tabi were silent on the ground as she walked toward the entryway. The guards looked at her questioningly for a few moments, hands moving toward their Zanpakuto instinctively over the potential threat before them. Staying herself where she stood she simply gave a small smile and bowed lightly to them.
"Sixth seat, Fujioka Kazumi."
Their eyes grew wide with recognition of her name, though she was uncertain if they had ever seen her face before. They bowed deeply in regret.
"Apologies, Miss Fujioka."
The guards moved quickly to allow her passage beyond them and into the cave. Proceeding forward she paused in front of the now open gate and set gentle hands on the center of the backs of the guards posted on either side, still bent down in repentance.
"You are doing a wonderful job. Thank you."
"Ma'am!"
She advanced within the dark area swiftly, closing her eyes while she walked as she concentrated on focusing her senses to her full capacity. She had not yet been on a proper mission and she was still fairly clueless to what the specifics of this situation was, but she would surely not shame herself nor her squad by allowing herself to be attacked or surprised, especially not by the likes of these souls that the Maggot's Nest harbored. As the area widened it became a bit brighter, though the mass of bodies was greatly dimming the light sources around her. Vigilant eyes looked about, breathing deep as she assessed the reiatsu of those surrounding her. Some were surprisingly strong, though she supposed she shouldn't be all that shocked if they were imprisoned in such a place. Two particular auras beckoned her, though she could not see their sources from where she stood. The spiritual pressure of their third seat was not one she could miss, while near-by was their fifth seat. Uncertain still she proceeded no further, watching the others mill about, confusion obvious. A light smile still curved her lips, though her eyes bounced from one person to another, this group to the next. An uneasy feeling rising up in her the more she observed. This was an absolute powder keg, ready to be detonated by the slightest spark.
