Shinotori Hitsugaya

Shinotori watched the new recruit continue her training, the young woman was making progress but to his standards not fast enough. He could sense that she was holding back. Despite her taking part in torturing and slaughtering helpless individuals, Himari still seemed to cling to her humanity. Although that little bit of humanity she held onto lacked a bit of common as she pointed her blade towards Yogen. Raising an eyebrow as he observed the situation, the new recruit was lucky that Yogen was a level headed person. Had there been someone with a temper or didn't take kindly to threats the situation might have turned out different. It was clear to the young Hitsugaya that Himari still had much to learn about the members of Onmitsukido and that not all of them were as merciful as the two she was in the room with. Speaking of unmerciful members not too long after the Himari started her training back up, Ochitsuki Oda had entered the room to check on the new recruits progress; also sharing details about the captains return.
What really caught the young Hitsugaya’s attention, Ochitsuki tilted his head to look underneath his straw hat to make eye contact. Oda would come to find his murderous glare being met by a blank emotionless glare in return as the two made eye contact. Although the man held a higher rank than himself, Shinotori felt neither intimidated nor worried. The young men's gaze would meet for a moment and with each passing second the two would lock into a useless staring competition until Ochitsuki finally decided to speak. Shinotori didn’t have any feelings towards the young man’s malicious appearance, remaining completely calm and unbothered he continued to sit there with arms crossed while listening to the man as if he was just having a casual conversation.
”Idles hands are useless and are best removed from the body as they serve no purpose. Now, become useful and follow me there is a… ‘disturbance’, I wish to investigate.”
The young Hitsugaya nodded his head “yes” agreeing to assist Ochitsuki in his investigation. His face still remained completely absent of any emotion, Shinotori followed his superiors orders without question. Having all his gear already on his person there was no need for him to return to the barracks to retrieve anything. He’d follow Ochitsuki deeper into the nest, hopefully the two of them could find the source of the tremors together. He had no intentions of tagging along as a burden, but given the circumstances he wasn’t sure that this was a task for him or Ochitsuki. However he continued to follow his comrade eager to discover what was awaiting ahead for the both of them. As they walked through the halls of the nest Shinotori made sure to keep alert of his surroundings including Ochitsuki's presence, the man was known for his vicious personality and can prove to be a threat to those wearing the same uniform as himself. The young Hitsugaya disagreed with his methods but understood his value to Onmitsukido. So without question he followed the man despite him having malicious intentions. For now he seemed mostly civil but if things were to take a turn for the worse he'd respond with the intent to kill. Pondering over these thoughts in his own head quietly no one could ever tell what his intentions were, even when in pain he rarely makes a facial expression; to Ochitsuki, Shinotori had been following him quietly without distrubing any peace between them.

Where she appeared next was in front the gates leading to the maggots nest. her hand gripping onto the sheath of the blood panda. She didn’t exactly about the treatment of the inhabitants as to her it seemed crueller to keep them alive and hidden away from the rest of the soul society; all for what? Having different views on the way things should be? A waste of resources to keep these inhabitants alive, better off to kill them than leave them an eternal state of limbo.
By this point she had, drawn her sword in its sheath to hand it over to the guard. As she did though one of them leaned over and began to tell her of the captains return from the Rukongai and had prisoners with him in first division barracks.
“Interesting… you would think he’d kill them all.”
She had wondered who would be important enough to be captured instead of killed? What was even more interesting was the captain was the one had to bring them in. Who ever they were, they were important enough to have the captain arrest and bring them in alive, more than likely they were a noble. Her teeth grinded at the thought, before she had pushed open the door, where upon she saw several individuals, Yogen a man who is far too mysterious for her liking, Himari Shimi the new recruit, Shinotori Hitsugaya, a man she rarely interacted with, and finally the man of the hour Ochitsuki Oda.
“Idles hands are useless and are best removed from the body as they serve no purpose. Now, become useful and follow me there is a… ‘disturbance’, I wish to investigate.”
She had little to add other than her curiosity of quake. She had no doubt that the quakes were coming from within second division itself, but she was unsure of what or who was causing it. A threat for sure, but how much will it be?

As the young girl stood above the man who was knocked unconscious, she felt proud of her work. She didn’t kill them, good. She had done right. She had learned. The sick feeling that was puddling in her stomach was slowly going away. She was feeling confident again.
” By the way.”
She didn’t jump this time. She allowed herself to focus on the task in front of her, but also kept noticing that she wasn’t alone. She was less jumpy. She slowly turned around to face the blond.
” The next time you point a blade at any member of the Onmitsukido, be prepared to use it. The others aren’t as….charitable or forgiving as I am. A mistake like that will cost you your life.”
She would glare at him. She almost forgot she pointed her blade at him in fear. She rolled her eyes before nodding, not saying a word else to him. It seemed like her life at Second was going to be one of a lot of watching her own back. Until she became something and someone who people feared enough to not do something behind her back.
TAP TAP TAP
The knock at the door made her break her eye contact with the blond and slowly turn towards the door. What now? Was something else about to happen? More torture? More Maggots to torture? She didn’t know if she wanted to see anyone else, but she watched as a white-haired guy would walk in. Not saying a word. Who was he? Why was he here?
She didn’t get to ask as the door opened again, and her body instantly went into defense mode as Ochitsuki walked in. He was the last person she wanted to ever see again. But she knew she was going to have to see him. Work with him, even? But she didn’t know how she felt about being in the same squad as this….psycho.
” A progress report. Tell me how she has progressed. Any failings or shortcomings I will take the blame for should the Captain not be pleased. This is my project after all.”
She wanted to shut him up. She just… didn’t like him.
” A project that someone else had made more progress on than you. All you did was torture me.”
psycho
She wanted to call him a psycho.
” Idles hands are useless and are best removed from the body as they serve no purpose. Now, become useful and follow me there is a… ‘disturbance’, I wish to investigate.”
Ochitsuki turned his focus on the straw hat guy, beckoning him to follow him. And disturbance? What disturbance? curiosity killed the cat.
But Himari was always curious.
” Why don’t we all tag along? I’d like to see what the disturbance is? Maybe we could help?”
Plus she wanted to get out of this shit hole. Away from hurting more people… for now.

Dwindling Descent
The words of Himari fall on deaf ears, the work Ochitsuki has done with her is of a defensive nature, it’s results can not be easily shown like those of the offense variety. When she is attacked by poison, when someone attempts to do harm to her they will find her unresponsive to the poison or pain they try to inflict. She will remember her time with Ochitsuki, a gash from an enemy blade will never be as bad as what he put her through. Whether she realises it now, later, or not at all the results will speak for themselves just the same. The young man is not completely without manners as he casts a grin in her direction, the intent was not supposed to be creepy but as he forces himself to smile it looks unsettling just the same.
He continues his trip with the Hitsugaya man behind him, silently walking the two, and whoever decides to secretly follow them, descends further into the Nest. Ochitsuki stops and stares ahead, a path leading downward still into the Nest. He himself has never ventured this far nor does he know if he has the proper clearance to do so. He tilts his head to the right so much so that it pops before he straightens its posture once more. A strange ritual of his, a nonverbal way of saying “Here goes nothing” before proceeding deeper into this pit.
”Hit-su-gai-ya -San, we can get killed for going to a place we shouldn’t be. Hope you’re prepared for the consequences. I am.”
This darkened path continues onward until the two men come face to face with what seems to be a steel door on the ground, locked away by several steel chains. He stares at it, investigating it from a distance before approaching it and running his fingertips along the chains and door.
”Sekkiseki? Hmmm, something like it but not the actual thing.”
The Oda looks around, not seeing anything else out of the ordinary in this particular location. A door on the ground must mean that something must lay even deeper below, a prime suspect for the cause of the quakes. This conclusion is reached due to Ochitsuki feeling the quakes in different areas of the Division grounds, they are always strongest when he is in Jaaku Dōtoku and even stronger during his brief visits to the Maggots Nest. The usual lot are not the cause of such ruckus so it had to be someone special, someone who was locked away in their own little slice of hell. These restraints on the door, the door itself, are strong and even repel Reiryoku. Ochitsuki wants in, he wants to know who or what is down there causing these quakes so that he may end their life. The most recent quake shook the entirety of the Southeastern quadrant of the Seireitiei, something with that much strength needs to be silenced for good.
”We need… a Third Seat, a Warden for this nest must be put in place. If not, we must ask for permission from the Captain to execute this prisoner.”
He turns his head towards Shinotori, an empty look in his eye.
”You wanna aim for the Third Seat? Just need you to be the Warden long enough to sort out this problem after that you can step down. I need a clear path to the captain at all times.”
It is unknown why there is no Third seat, however, given Ochitsuki’s words he likes it that way. With no Third Seat or Lieutenant he’ll have an easier time attacking Kyomu, whenever that day comes. Should someone take those positions it’ll make that goal so much more difficult to reach. His eyes move back towards the sealed door on the ground, his head does not move, still turned towards Shinitori.
”Unless you have a way of getting in there now. Without my Zanpakuto I cannot destroy the chains, let alone the door. Decisions, decisions. Tick…. Tok.”

Shinotori Hitsugaya
b35df29f58c27c96f012aa7238fc3970.png

Descending further into the maggots nest following Ochitsuki, Shinotori still remained completely calm despite being warned that the area was restricted without a warden. Despite overstepping their boundaries the young Hitsugaya assumed that if he were to assist Ochitsuke in discovering the cause of said quakes and be rewarded. However all of that positive thinking went out the door once they discovered a door within the ground itself. At first glance one would assume whatever was behind this door had to be extremely dangerous and confidential, the silver door had several chains preventing one from opening it.
”Sekkiseki? Hmmm, something like it but not the actual thing.”
“Ooooh”
now thing’s were getting interesting, the young man thought to himself.
Silence would feel the air for a few moments as the Oda surveyed the area, Shino stared at the door listening to see if he could hear something coming from the otherside, for now it was completely quiet and seemed as if Ochi and Shino were going to have to find a way to open this door.
”We need… a Third Seat, a Warden for this nest must be put in place. If not, we must ask for permission from the Captain to execute this prisoner.”
Turning his undivided attention back to Oda he listened to what the man had to say but surely Shinotori couldn’t just place himself in position to do what Ochitsuki was asking, it was obvious the man didn’t want to get his own hands dirty and have someone else take the blame for his actions so he can act like he was on clean up duty. However his empty glare would be met with one that was completely blank and void of all emotions. Shinotori had wondered what the man was up to and if he already knew what was behind the door. What was it he wanted to let out so badly? For now the young Hitsuygaya would remain cautious of not only Oda's action but his own as well.
”You wanna aim for the Third Seat? Just need you to be the Warden long enough to sort out this problem after that you can step down. I need a clear path to the captain at all times.”
”Unless you have a way of getting in there now. Without my Zanpakuto I cannot destroy the chains, let alone the door. Decisions, decisions. Tick…. Tok.”
“I think I’ll pass on becoming a seated officer for now I am very content with my position. As for this door I think we should return to your quarters to retrieve your zanpakuto before we do any further investigation, you wouldn’t want to be unprepared for whatever lies beyond. It would be foolish to do so, besides if this area is restricted we would have to make this plan be a swift one. No one needs to know about our involvement until we can know for sure what we are doing is right.”

With that said Shinotori shared his desire to discover what was behind the door but if it was the source of these trembers, they best be prepared to deal with whom or whatever it was that was sealed behind that door just in case it’s threat level was ridiculously high. He had only suggested that Ochitsuki be fully prepared to protect himself in case things go south, Without him being fully prepared it may be a chance he could be a liability and the young Hitsugaya had no desire to face an unknown threat with an unprepared comrade. Oda’s eagerness was almost too obvious as if he already knew what was behind the door. Shino took note of his behavior as suspicious. The man has been investigating these quakes non stop as if he had on obsessions. Standing a few feet away from Oda, Shino waited with one arm hanging from inside of his shirt. Even though he had his suspensions on Oda’s behavior, he still wanted to assist him in his investigation. For now he would keep most of his thoughts to himself and with lack of emotions being expressed in his tone of voice or facial expression it was hard to tell what the young Hitsugaya was thinking or feeling.
