Annoyance. Anger. And even a little disappointment was all Himari felt as she allowed her foot to lower itself toward Oyama’s skull. The entire time, she felt like the girl had looked down on her. Thought of her as weakling. Thought of her as someone who couldn’t be a match to her. She hated it. It pissed her off. She wanted to end this. She wanted to kick the girls skull in. Then maybe, just maybe, she would realize she underestimated the wrong person. She would come to realize the Himari who faced Katsuo, who lost her arms. That girl was gone.
Standing before her was someone new entirely. She was going to learn that. Right now.
BAM!
Suddenly her foot was stopped by something. No, someone’s forearm. She didn’t even have to glance at the person's face to know it had to be one of the Ommitsukido. When did he arrive? How did she not sense him? All those things were running in her head. Also the fact that he stopped her right when she was about to finish this…annoying nonsense of a spar. Again, someone was getting in the way.
“Tsk,” Was all she would say as she lowered her foot, it swiftly landing onto the ground. She wouldn’t even look in Oyama’s direction, not wanting to. Her red and gray eyes only stared at the masked man before them. He had to be here for a reason, and she had a feeling that it wouldn’t be good.
“Lieutenant Katsuo Toshiyuki is dead.”
All the blue haired girl could do was blink once given the news. Katsuo? Wasn’t his last name Oda? when did that change? But, most importantly… he was dead. They hadn’t fought that long ago. How did he die in such a short time? What killed him? How did he die? And why was he telling them this? Yea, she would have considered Katsuo a friend. He was one of the first people she actually talked to the most. He was the one who actually checked in on her when she felt like nothing in the Fifth. And now. Now he is dead.
She allowed herself to glance at Oyama. She had been in the same divison as the blonde. She probably would take it worse than she. All she saw of the other blue haired girl was the widening of her eyes. She said nothing. And Himari was low key annoyed that she couldn't read how she was dealing with the situation.
She didn’t know how to react in this situation. This was the first time she was in the know of anything. She thought back at the times when Tenzen would dismiss her so he could discuss private matters with Arashi. She now felt included. Like she knew something that many people didn’t know. And she suddenly felt she was truly a second division officer. She wasnt seated, sure, but she was just given information that many didn’t know.
It filled her spirits a little.
But, suddenly her mind went to the fact that yet another high ranking officer had been killed. They have now lost another strong hand. What were the Gotei going to do now? It was as if they weren’t taking this situation seriously at all. Everyone was focusing on the stupid games…She felt that they should now be focusing on reworking the ranks..Getting everyone together for the unseen.
Her thoughts were again stopped as she felt another presence come in and suddenly another Guard had entered the room, this time handing Oyama something. This made Himari curious. But she said nothing. She was silent as usual. Just watching.
‘Interesting. Captains Tenzen Oda and Captain Kyomu Mukuro have been pitted against one another, along with a Rukongai citizen scars.’
Now that was something she had wished to see. Her former Captain and new Captain facing each other along with…a random Rukongai citizen? That would have been more interesting to see than to be here.
“You beat me Himari, what we do next is up to you, we both go our separate ways here, or we stay and fight once more this time with our own zanpakutō.”
She allowed the girl to go and get her own Zanpakuto. She walked over to the exit, but still had her hand on the hilt of the sword. This made Himari laugh, just a little. She didn’t speak as she walked to grab Fudo Myōō. She felt whole again, having the sword in her hands again. She slipped the sword away with ease.
“I think we have more pressing matters than a rematch, don’t you think?” Himari replied, her voice low. No emotion was in her voice. “Your friend is dead, aren’t you a little worried about the state of the Gotei?”
She spoke all of this without looking at the girl. Only when she was finished speaking, she would look up, her head tilting just a little. Even though she didn’t really like her. The girl did interest her.
