"Very good! So you are good at Kido… have you learned any healing spells? Or, looked into Division five? Both Captain Oda and Captain Nakamoto are really strong and wise, too. I know someone really gifted in Kido, my Lieutenant, Atsuko Ise. I'm alright at Hakuda, but Zanjutsu has been my favorite for a long time."

Sanyu looked at the training field, before going on to talking more.

"You have escaped your mother, Koyo. You are here as an adult, as a soldier, a Shinigami. You'll never have to go back to her again if you so wished. Realize your strength, Koyo, and move forward with it. Don't continue living in the shadow of your mother."

Sanyu felt like he was looking at a younger version of himself at one point. He lived in the shadow of his father for so long, instead of leading his own path. It was high time he did, even if he too was also fresh out of the Academy, picked by Captain Askura.

His eyes widened for a moment. The thought never passed his mind. His mother was a shadow of the past, stuck behind and never returning. She wouldn't return or control him from that place. He never had to return to that district or the pain. He was more potent, more significant than he used to be. He'd been searching for a way out, the escape from her. But he was already free from that place. Koyo closed his eyes as he stood still for a moment. But he wouldn't leave Tenth as soon as being put in.

"You are right about so many things, Komamura-san. I've let her choke me and devour my individuality for so long. " Koyo said, swallowing as he considered the turmoil he'd gone through. But he was a warrior now, one of the Gotei's people. His eyes slowly opened as he listened to the sounds. "I won't leave Squad 10 yet; I must prove to her that I can overcome what she put forth. I won't be beaten or run from her any longer." Inhaling, he released some air from his lungs. Slowly tension drained from his shoulders now.

"Komamura-san, I don't want to trouble you. But there is something I would like your help with. I've had only a few occasions to practice with my Zanpakuto. I find it difficult to explain it to people, so perhaps showing will be easier."

Koyo's right hand came to rest on his Zanpakuto's hilt. Slowly he drew it free from the prison it remained within. Unsheathing it as he looked forward. Releasing his reiryoku to his body, feeling it course like blood through his body. Reiatsu slowly began to emerge as he drew forth the power inside. It was time to release his Shikai and show it to the witness before him.

"Breach the Surface Neikanyu" His Zanpakuto began to swelter and drip liquids down the blade. The form shifted as it became a plank of wood, with liquid droplets dripping down the edge as his reiatsu began to affect the area around him. The plank of wood was slightly worn from water trickling down it. Steam and drips came from the plank as he gripped it in the palm of his hand. He'd been shown how to fight using this form by Neikanyu itself. But he wanted more practical experience with the Zanpakuto.

"I want to train against someone else's shikai and try to improve myself. If possible, I'd like you to be the person Komamura-san. My powers are still immature. " Koyo said, acknowledging the amount of learning he still had to do. This place was ideal for him to train; the question became if Komamura-san agreed.

Koyo could hope, and perhaps he would get the chance to test himself. He'd done missions as part of the academy. Truthfully he didn't know how effective Neikanyu would be against fur. The person he was requesting to test against. He was covered from head to toe and had several inches on Koyo.

It was a circumstance to provide both of them with a workout. Koyo gently put his Zanpakuto's bottom half down on the ground. Causing steam to emerge around his feet.

Sanyu crossed his arms, watched, waited, and listened to Koyo. Sure, he was right about a couple things, but even Sanyu didn’t hold all the answers, or even the right ones. He’d thought division three would be a good fit for Koyo to be a part of, until he grew as a shinigami and as an individual…

“You’ve taken your first steps by coming here to division three, same as me. I think it’d be a great idea for you to stay here and grow, then head out when you think division three, and the Academy, can’t teach you anything more… I’m not sure who the teachers are now, and… I don’t know anyone here but…”

He scratches the back of his head in thought. He didn’t know anyone outside Omoni-san, who was now a friend to the Komamura Clan, Former Captain Asakura of Division seven, Atsuko Ise, and the Hoshi clan’s Oyama and Shori…

“Even if I don’t know them, they can’t be that bad, right?”

He said, while watching Koyo activate his shikai, and watching the power he possessed turn his blade into a… wooden plank, and water. Hot, steaming water. Sanyu could tell that the level this Zanpakuto was showing was at a lower level… Koyo at least spent enough time in his inner world to activate his shikai, at least. Sanyu scratched the back of his head again.

“hmm… i’m not sure if comparing this shikai to other’s abilities is the best, or right thing to do, Koyo… how much time have you, personally, spent in your inner world, and learning about your Zanpakuto spirit? You should look for strength within, not without…

Still, Sanyu drew his own zanpakuto, sheathe and all, from his waist, and gave the bamboo protected blade a look over. He could still remember the day he discovered his own Zanpakuto spirit, and heard Kami Taigon’s voice. It’s saintly, dainty, almost heavenly tone captured Sanyu’s curiosity, but since that day she’s not spoken a word, from any of their encounters through meditation and concentration. He’d sit down with the blade, and place it in his lap, before closing his eyes and trying to concentrate with the item.
“how much time have you spent, speaking, or trying to communicate with the spirit residing in your zanpakuto?”

His gaze followed the figure of Sanyu; his visage showed signs of displeasure. It seemed Koyo's actions troubled him, perhaps how he worded things. It wasn't something he had a lot of practice with, either personality. Koyo had not had a lot of communication and lacked it. He observed the newly met figure closely. Watching how the man moved and walked. Deciding if he'd crossed a line or not was difficult. Koyo didn't have answers or much insight outside of negative displays. So positive messages were harder to decode for him. But the sight of someone not happy with his motions. It did trouble him slightly.

"You’ve taken your first steps by coming here to Division three, same as me. I think it’d be a great idea for you to stay here and grow, then head out when you think Division three, and the Academy, can’t teach you anything more… I’m not sure who the teachers are now, and… I don’t know anyone here but…”

His ears picked up the hesitation or moment of thought. The clarity that Sanyu thought as he spoke. Koyo decided to wait and let him finish his thought. Before addressing the consideration of Squad Three as a destination.

“Even if I don’t know them, they can’t be that bad, right?”

Koyo's lips curled into a smile as Sanyu finished his thought. Deciding to address his newly found friend now with his own words.

"Squad 3 and those who mentor at the Academy are good people. I should know, having been a student who just left this place today. There is much to be learned here for anyone seeking wisdom here. But in that same sense, I was given the position of Fourth Seat in Squad Ten. Until I know why Vice-Captain Hyouzoku decided to do so. It would be a slap in his face to go to any Division until I understand why." Koyo paused, now taking a moment to consider his own words.

His thoughts would be disturbed by those of Sanyu as Koyo listened closely to the man once more. The wealth of wisdom and advice lay in the person he trusted. He'd given the story and location he came from. Koyo had done much to cover up the pain he had undergone. Taking and facing what came of it. His digits curled around the top of the plank of wood. As felt the heat from his Zanpakuto around his legs and body.

“hmm… i’m not sure if comparing this shikai to other’s abilities is the best, or right thing to do, Koyo… how much time have you, personally, spent in your inner world, and learning about your Zanpakuto spirit? You should look for strength within, not without…"

Koyo's lips turned into a smile once more as he thought about it. He'd done just this not too long ago. Koyo had a conversation with his Zanpakuto spirit this day about the subject. Koyo could seek further wisdom, but his Zanpakuto spirit had clarified it. He was fond of his partner, even if they didn't always agree on the subject.

"I've spent a long time with my Zanpakuto spirit; its voice called to me in the distant nights. Even before I came to the school, I could hear its call. You'd think you would have gone mad at that time. The voice was distant like an echo on the wind."

He finished thinking back fondly as he struggled to hear the voice calling for him. It was something distant and far from him, like trying to grasp smoke with one's hands. He inhaled the steam from his Zanpakuto as it met his nostrils. It brought a sense of calm through his being.

“how much time have you spent, speaking, or trying to communicate with the spirit residing in your zanpakuto?”

Koyo leaned softly against the wooden plank as he gently plucked it from the ground. Bringing it to rest against his shoulder now as he held it. Time to answer the question that was presented.

"I've spent years speaking with and interacting with my partner here. Now, the task he set for me is to train using him in this land. He won't teach me any further until I train out here using my Shikai. Forgive me if my communication skills were lacking. I wasn't seeking to compare our Shikai but to train them. In a sparring session to better understand the gifts, they've given. If you are uncomfortable with this, I can reseal my Zanpakuto."

He was polite and even willing to let it go now. To reseal up his Zanpakuto in this situation and move away from that. He waited to see what Sanyu said now. Koyo hadn't agreed to come to Squad 3 in the Division. He wanted to see what Vice-Captain Hyouzoku saw. Why the man chooses such a raw recruit for this job. Primarily when more substantial options existed within the squad. He and Sanyu were similar indeed down to the situations.

Koyo was haunted by the darkness of his mother. Sanyu tried to make his family proud and honor his heritage. A question hung in Koyo's mind by going to Squad Three. Why did he avoid going to Squad 11 with his family? Perhaps he didn't want to hunger for combat like them. Koyo wouldn't press the issue; he was new to Sanyu and not a close friend yet.

"I see, so you wish to appease your Zanpakuto spirit's wishes and train it against my own? I'm not one for wanted violence, but… if you wish. We can try."

He said, raising himself from the ground. He shut his eyes if only for a moment, a light burst of reiatsu made the area surrounding Sanyu a sky blue color, as his Zanpakuto began to emit the same glow.

"Fold, Kami Taigun!"

(lit. "Great Army of Paper") Sanyu's Blade began to flitter apart like flakes, right down to the hilt, as blue glowing papers began to dance vibrantly around the both of them, and catch the wind produced by Sanyu's Reiatsu.

"Koyo, let.me give you a proper introduction to My Zanpakuto."

He said, as masses of paper flutter about but come together into three separate piles to form soldiers, Origami people, samurai warriors roughly Koyo's size if a bit smaller. Each of them had their own origami swords much like Sanyu. The Komamura smiled and took a combative Sword stance and the Three soldiers followed suit, taking the same stance, and they all waited for Koyo to make a move or reaction.
