Shinigami

The “Tenth Division” styled introduction seemed to be peaking. Living up to its name, the spar was something Gorou had never imagined to experience on his first taste of being a Shinigami. Each second felt like minutes, each minute felt like days, and he dared to envision maintaining this intensity for an hour. No more than ten minutes had passed, yet the destruction was equivalent to everything he had witnessed in the academy. The elegant common area they stood in had turned into mere rubble; a field of chaos conjured without any endeavor. The earth cut by kido wore its battle scars proudly, a true testament of the Tenth Division’s strength. Ironically, black feathers beautifully drifted in the distance. Their elegance attempted to mask the havoc that was being produced around them.
Izanagi’s relentless demonic rampage felt uncontainable. His words felt of a different tongue, raving on as if he were possessed by an entity. He attacked with malice. Gorou was certain Shizuka would leave injured, if not dead, given Izanagi was able to land his strike. His blade severed the air as it approached Shizuka, slicing any feather it came in contact with into pieces. There was no hesitation present, no reconsideration, not an ounce of realization as Izanagi prepared to strike one of his own. Shizuka did not falter. The last vestiges of fear seemed to be overtook by a sense of responsibility. He was able to block what he could of Izanagi’s onslaught, but was treated as nothing more than a feather and launched into the distance. There was more to Shizuka’s counter, for that a surge of electricity illuminated the area. It was very quick, seemingly instantaneous. Gorou’s ears were filled with Shizuka’s words, even with the distance between them it was as if Shizuka whispered the Hado’s name to him.
“Tsuzuri Raiden”
Gorou was well familiar with the hado, he was able to perform it himself. He was impressed with Shizukas ability to quickly execute the spell with that much power; it was far beyond Gorou’s capabilities. Even with the magnitude in strength of the hado, Izanagi was only subdued for mere seconds. His spiritual power was far beyond being able to be hindered by the likes of lower level kido spells. Gorou began to grow wary in if his Byakurai would even have enough power to pierce Izanagi’s skin. If Shizuka’s kido was deemed ineffective, then why would his lower leveled-partially charged Byakurai stand a chance.
Skeptical in his initial plan Gorou prepared to strike again. He felt advantageous in his environment and intended on utilizing his element of surprise. He readied himself to delve back into the spiritual grasp Izanagi held. As the Byakurai neared Izanagi there was a sudden shift in energy. There was an instant addition of another spiritual pressure. It was one that Gorou had encountered before. He quickly pondered, his feathers had covered the entire surrounding area. He should have felt an approaching presence far before it got this close, regardless if they utilized shunpo. Before he could even turn his head to identify the spiritual presence a sudden cascade of wind violently rushes throughout the courtyard. Yōjinbukai’s feathers begin to swarm around the current. The spiritual presence, bound to come in contact with such feathers, rushed like a bull in sight of something. Feather after feather, Gorou was able to trace the the power and it seemed to be going towards Izanagi.
“Ryuga?”
Gorou began to remember seeing Ryuga’s odd Shikai ability. He recalls seeing him make some form of portal and using it as transportation. Gorou was certain that’s how he was able to get into the courtyard undetected by Yōjinbukai’s feathers. Ryuga stormed in and pushed Izanagi out of the byakurai’s path. Gorou was amazed in Ryuga’s timing; he didn’t know if Ryuga had been monitoring the fight, or if he intervened by chance. Either way he stopped a possible attempt in subduing Izanagi. Ryuga did show substantial strength with being able to pin Izanagi to a near by wall. Instinctively, Gorou saw this as an opportunity to strike Izanagi while he was being detained.
Almost instantly after Ryuga joined the fray and successfully had Izanagi cornered, the demonic spiritual pressure that once engulfed the area dispersed. The same spiritual pressure that instilled fear into Gorou like no other quickly faded from existence. It almost felt disrespectful, as if it meant nothing. Gorou strayed from revealing himself just yet, still trying to decipher what exactly was going on. He began to hear Izanagi speak, but it was in the manner that he was originally speaking in. It was as if his personality had resurfaced, but Gorou wasn’t sure if it was all an act.
"I remember you. And why the hell you got me pinned against the wall? And why does my chest hurt and back hurt? What the hell you do?"
Izanagi’s seemed to have no recollection of anything that happened. Gorou had no idea of what just took place, but he assumed that Izanagi had the ability to achieve a second form that he had no control over. For now he seemed to be in a stable state of mind. Gorou allowed his feathers to slowly disintegrate into reiatsu. The black glow in his pupil regressed into their original state. He shunpo’d into the sight of everyone, sheathing his sword. He says not a word, but glances at the surrounding area thinking of what his captain will say when he returns to his quarters. He assumed the introduction was over, there was nothing left they all needed to say to each other. After what had seemed to be a very long morning, he began to leave the courtyard hoping to finally get some rest
