Not even a few minutes went by, before Shizuka's Deirenshiki began to ring again..
-RING RING RING-
-RING RING RING-
his foot barely grazing the firm gravel outside of the barracks before receiving the notification
"What could this shit possibly be now"
He pulled out the device with urgency also with the intention of silencing it after he looked the notification. Upon glancing at the device he noticed that the message tab was something from the World of the Living alerts tab specially catered to his division. He then quickly began to tap through to see the message..

" Naruki City is under attack, respond on the scene immediately as soon as possible."

Shizuka sighed as he read through the last words of the message. Apparently the day did not have anything good in store for him, just more daunting work for his division. Shizuka then scrolled through to his personal messages and sent out a message to the 10th Division unseated and other seated members aside from the two above him.
"I'm heading over to the scene in Naruki, those with Lieutenant Kasumi be prepared to create a perimeter on the scene if necessary. Most likely will need help in the clean up afterwards. See you guys whenever, respond immediately if I text again.
Shizuka then shunpo'd from his current location all the way to the Senkaimon in his division. There wasn't an inch of fear or curiosity in his bone about the alert. To him it was simply just another day on the job, ever since the Kokotsu incident 3 months ago there hasn't been anything out of the normal occurring within his line of work. In secrecy, he had hoped that there would be something finally in the last year or so to truly test his blade on a strong opponent. All in all though, he kept those feelings under wraps. As he approached the Senkaimon, the pathway was in the process of being opened by fellow Division 10 Kido specialist. Shizuka waited until the pathway was completely opened to begin walking through
"Here we go"
and as he whispered this out in dry tone he slowly entered the portal to the World of the Living

His presence concealed. Arashi arrives and with such speed hat those who were able to catch even a glimpse weren't so sure of what they just saw. His destination before at last and as usual, Squad six held their patrols. Their men remaining honest to their strict persona and upholding the law as they should. Much respect to be given from Arashi and so his stroll through the barracks of Squad six begins. Heads turned, eyes locating him with easy, but still his spiritual signature remained concealed. Some would know better... The jacket likely giving it away. Not many soul reapers of his rank wore such attire. He was no Captain, at least not yet anyway. His expression remained, immediately turning heads away once they took a look. It wasn't that it looked unsightly or disgusting at all. It is simply that his smile gave off the opposite of someone being joyful and truly happy. Make no mistake however, Ashi is far from sadness and troubled emotions. Behind such an expression radiated a sense of death, no care for the well-beings of others in front of him.
His sword at their throats...
His hands piercing their chest...
His very essence crushing the very fabric of their so-
"Ah, there he is."
Locating the man he wish to see and speak to, Shirogane Kuchiki, a renowned member of Squad six and the highest ranking member of his squad. Respectable, he represented those of the noble house, the Kuchiki Clan. Before he could approach a member of his squad addressed him by his last name. Ashi waited his turn to speak, standing behind the poor fellow. For he to notice Ashi, the hairs on his back were likely to tingle. Far too late in the point of view of combat. He would have been slain, presumed dead on the spot. Not to fear though, the squad member would live to see another day. Ashi had no plans for spilling even an ounce of blood from anyone here. However, it is likely that Shirogane would wonder just how Arashi was able to walk in like he did... It could be that those who noticed him were to frightened to approach him and stop him from venturing to far. No matter now, he is there and awaited to be acknowledged.

Everything has been out of sorts since the Kototsu attack, among other events that took place beforehand. Ever since that day, Shirogane eyes have opened up to the truth and have come to terms with what he must do. What he HAS to do from here on out. All that time spent on reading, training, plotting, and having time to reflect on himself as to what it means to uphold his duty as a member of this division. He swore his life to this division to uphold its precious laws, something that had been bred into himself since he was but a young lad. Defending the law of the Soul Society has always been his goal, his life, something he would never waver from and shall continue to do so. He failed once before trying to perform his duty and failed.
Shirogane doesn't plan to fail again. Being apart of the enforcement squad, one has to hold onto a moral obligation, absolute values; ethics, integrity, accountability, and honesty are essential values for an enforcer of the Soul Society to possess. At all times, officers of the law, such as Shirogane, must follow the law and departmental regulations. Meaning the use of force must be reasonable and necessary; it’s expected to carry out his duties and responsibilities equitably and justly. Enforcers like Shirogane must not show favoritism or act in a discriminatory manner recognizing that all citizens within the Soul Society deserve respectful treatment regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, national origin, or religion at least that's what he believes.
The code of ethics prohibits dishonesty and corruption. Officers of Division 6 or any division within the Gotei 13 who engage in serious misconduct on duty or in their personal life can face disciplinary action and prosecution. This determination was brought to light after the encounter with the Lieutenant of Division 2 and everything he witnessed three months ago, what made him decide to get even stronger mentally and skillfully, more aware of the ins and outs of the past and the present through reading.
Now it was about saving the future, saving what could prove to be very disastrous if he doesn't act. Allowing these corruptions to go any further would be him not performing his duty. The reason no one takes action besides the Captain of Division 2 is due to the fear of the First Division's power, and they have a right to fear....HIM. Thinking about it would make Shirogane’s mouth dry, and beads of sweat began to emerge as the power the Commander unleashed on that day made him quiver. What many had forgotten, or perhaps chosen to ignore, was the Commander was a prisoner of the Muken. He was a criminal, however, after much intel and many reports. Shirogane uncovered during his isolation a profound secret that the Commander keeps hidden away, festering within the First Division.
Training wasn't enough to gain power, but what is being harbored there would help see that Shirogane does gain the power needed. Now, as everything been pieced together, it would only make sense why such a man as the Commander was targeted in the first place. He didn't even attempt to aid his people during the attack, which Shirogane views as quite a despicable lack of action. With Kyomu allowed to live, another criminal remains as Captain, and the operating squad of assassins hasn't been reprimanded for their actions either.
Moreso, gaining the confidence of the council had failed each time he tried to get them to be on his side, and killing them was the only answer to moving forward. Simple, but it wasn't part of the initial plot. Nevertheless, Shirogane made sure that their deaths would amount to something if anything, it helped him for the better. Spending all that time within a month, rounding up the remaining clan members, even children to be confined, locked away from the outside with him while also taking a page out of "HIS" book, holding onto the research closeby. Making sure to use this new position as Head for all the right reasons. The unique agreement his noble family has with the Captain Commander would prove to be useful after all. Fundings from the Kuchiki house all go to the Seireitei in exchange for staying out of their affairs, or instead, Head Captain Murasaki doesn't monitor their actions. Which gave all the leeway he needs to proceed, so long as no suspicion comes his clan’s way.
An individual who has appeared within his presence. Arashi Suta, Division 13 member. He doesn't quite understand what made him show up in his presence right now of all days. He already sensed his presence entering the compound of Division 6 the moment he had stepped foot into the radius, the sound of his steps were precise and quick. The tone of his muscles tensed up as he moved and focused on performing flash-step. The scent of his smell was something putrid. He's the first-ever to come to see him, or is there some particular reason for him being here? Perhaps looking for someone that he believes Shirogane holds the answer too, it isn't every day someone decides to come here unless they were under orders to do so.
"What can I do for you, Arashi Suta? What brings you to my division?"
Direct and to the point, the Head of the Kuchiki wasn't looking to spare any efforts with pointless small talk. Still, he wanted to observe what type of individual Arashi is, he could prove to be someone of use. One of the many whose eyes could be opened to the truth with the right choice of words to persuade him to his side. There wouldn't be any lies, no poison that would spew from his lips. But sharing what his truth is, sharing only what he needs to hear, only when the time is right if he seems to be capable of handling an eye-opening revelation. The key to performing manipulation is playing the cards right and reading people. Understanding what makes them tick and see the best approach for getting this person to his side. From what he could tell already, Arashi is a very calm, open-minded individual, someone who isn't easy to sway like some individuals. Furthermore, Shirogane must tread lightly for those who are too invested with the system of the Gotei 13, as they can pull away and do something irrational. A huge risk to take, but Shirogane had prepared for the worst, and even if he must slay Arashi until things unfold, then it will be so.
Arashi would come to the full appearance of an individual clad in black attire of a standard shinigami robe. The only addition is the Kuchiki scarf that represents authority and status, which signifies himself as the leader of the household. It grants him the influence and power over everyone who holds the name Kuchiki. He should also notice the kenseikan worn on Shirogane's right side, Arashi's left. Though he shared a question to the member of Division 13, he gave one more vertical swing downwards, slicing through the air. Just one final strike with the practice sword before sheathing it into the sash on the right side. Once sheathed, it would be only then that he would truly listen to Arashi's response, staring in his direction blankly, emotionless, and unfazed.

The emotionless and the unfazed. That is how Shirogane surely builds himself towards everyone he speaks to. Versus, the calm, but exuberant Arashi an expression he has held since he was young and foolish. Shirogane proposed a question, one he had every right to ask. Ashi studied his own answer, pondering as the arc of his hand fit the surface of his chin. He rubbed his facial hair as he even raised a brow clearly contemplating a response. Before he could answer, his own gaze found something rather interesting that related solely to Shirogane's attire. Ashi knew well that he belonged to the Kuchiki household, and he made sure that he at least took heed of the noble houses and how they operated. Nothing but side-thing, something to keep him occupied when all of his primary work was finished for the moment. He noticed the scarf, and the Kenseikan in his hair. If he wasn't mistaken that meant Shirogane had ascended in the ranks of his home, surely. Ashi would not call upon it, surely Shirogane did not search for praise.
"Thought I step in, to check on a comrade. I hope I haven't interrupted."
His words found, his expression returned to its natural state, smiling, eyes closed so much so that his eyes could barely be perceived to be open. Bot hands moved behind him, clasping together at his lower-back. He stepped in as Shirogane began to sheath his sword, finishing a strike. Even when his eyes seemed completely closed, his surroundings did not go dark. Very well able to see, he not only saw Shirogane, but was able to catch something troubling him. If such an assumption was correct, Ashi would only take a seat upon the floor, crossing his legs and even going as far as to remove his Zanpkauto. He placed Hoshizora across his lap and lay his hands upon the sword.
"I do hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Have not seen much of you in the pass three months. Then again, we have both been busy and hard at work to maintain our Squads. I should brought some tea, hmmm."

It is a quiet and peaceful day in the Seireitei. Within the confines of the Sixth Division, not a sound can be heard, spare the swinging of one Shinigami’s blade, that of Shirogane Kuchiki. Shirogane shares words with one Arashi Suta, resulting in a playful game of coyness, the tension between the two rising as Arashi’s instincts and intuition cause him to feel that something is not quite right.
Suddenly, this silence, this tension is cut short by the uproarious sound of marching. The marching grows louder and louder, becoming a cacophony of noise, demanding the attention of the two Shinigami present. Across the barren and empty Sixth Division Barracks, headed towards the Kuchiki Manor, is a parade of Shinigami, masked in peculiar cloths. Easily a hundred or more come marching in, their steps in unison, their movement perfectly synchronized.

To Arashi Suta, who often frequents the human world, and thus has had plenty of experience traversing the Senkaimon, these Shinigami would appear familiar. Their uniforms bearing the symbol of the Kido Corps. Each of them, members of the Corps, tasked with monitoring and maintaining the Senkaimon, the Seireitei’s Barrier, and any powerful artifacts or spells. However, outside of these duties, it was incredibly rare to see a member of the Kido Corps in public. Let alone so many of this number.
They march until they see Shirogane Kuchiki before them. With the Sixth Division devoid of any activity spare his own, and with him surprisingly wearing the Kuchiki Clan Scarf and new Kenseikan, they have no choice but to recognize the Kuchiki as the point of contact. Upon seeing him, the parade splits into two rows, each turning inwards to face each other. Lined up as they are, they form a pathway for something else, a different kind of procession. As now, four Shinigami completely clad in white, make their way down this newly formed path. The four of them together carry one single artifact. A wooden basket, or gourd, perhaps a pot of some sort, about the height of a man. These men’s uniforms would be recognized by any who call themselves Shinigami. These were the uniforms of the First Division’s private messengers. That meant only one thing, whatever this is, it’s important.

The last Shinigami at the end of each row each take one step forward, using their bodies to serve as a barrier between Shirogane and the procession down the line. They also serve to obscure both Shirogane and Arashi’s view of the Evil Fermenting Pot, and those carrying it. However, coming from between them, arrives a fifth messenger, previously unseen, and seemingly appearing from nowhere.
4d05497b41f84a25331d8ee21f391f63.png

“Third Seat Shirogane Kuchiki. By wearing that scarf you designate yourself as Head of the Kuchiki Clan. With no one to verify this claim we have no choice but to divulge our intent to you. By request on behalf of your clan and the Central Forty Six, the First Division has come barring the Aku Hachi Hakkō. In order to properly deliver the artifact, we must temporarily withdraw our agreement, and allow the First Division access into the Kuchiki Clan Compound.”
Speaking with the authority of Shobatsu himself, the messenger displays no intent, no variation in tone, no emotion. His body barely moves, absolutely conditioned and disciplined, there is nothing to go off of, no reading to be picked up, no nuisance or double meaning, nothing to be misconstrued, so that the only thing that can be processed by any observer, is the words themselves. There was no room for debate or haggling, no convincing this messenger otherwise or changing his mind. Either the procession would enter the compound, or Shirogane would defy the will of the Central Forty Six, and by extension the First Division.
”However....”
Another voice chimed in, this time being that of a woman’s. Much like the messenger, a woman steps out from behind the Kido Corps Patrolmen. Her arrival too as though from thin air. Her uniform is peculiar, though wearing the garments of a Shinigami, over these she wears an elaborate headdress and golden-plated mask, as well as an ornate robe which signifies her affiliation with the Kido Corps. Neither Arashi nor Shirogane would know much of this woman or her uniform, as only those within the upper echelon of the Kido Corps and Seireitei Society would have ever had an interaction with a High Priestess. Still, the air about her, the manner in which she spoke, and they way in which she carried herself, designated her as a figure of authority on behalf of the Fifth Division, with her own message to bear.
873227f8fe9682321278572cbec67324.png

”We have just received word that the activation of the Aku Hachi Hakkō is to be postponed by order of, and until the arrival of, the Chief of the Kido Corps, new Captain of the Fifth Division, Tenzen Oda. Who shall be overseeing this operation personally. I trust, as the one who claims to head the very clan requesting this excursion, that this will be of no issue to you.”
Authority at play. That of Shirogane Kuchiki, who wears his blood stained scarf as a crown, signifying his rule of the Kuchiki Clan. That of the Central Forty Six, bowing to the whims of their financial backbone. That of the First Division, whose power is the very thing sought. Then finally, that of Captain Oda, whose Fifth Division is the very one responsible for creating such a fearsome artifact. In the end, whose authority would ultimately supersede the others? Would this clash of power, both political and literal, result in catastrophe?
Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
