“...I told you already what you would be expected to do, and that it was your choice to stay or go. I still stand by that offer.”
This wasn’t quite the answer he was expecting but what did he really expect? They’re both close in age so there isn’t much she could have said to change his mind. Then again she was in charge of a pretty important family and in charge of a large group of Quincy so she had to have some sort of wisdom or knowledge to impart to him.
“You’ve told me that you had little to gain in joining my cause, and it’s true. I even put you in danger, and we even lost an acquaintance because of my miscalculations. If you wish to leave, then you can go. I gave my word that the Diamante would continue to support and sponsor your fights, and if you desire, will not attempt any other form of contact.”
She’s so… Vacant. His initial perception of her was correct; she can be cold hearted. What has she gone through in her life to become so disconnected from other people’s well being that the loss of a life under her command is cast aside due to a miscalculation. Though reading into a person’s words isn’t Dominic’s thing, reading body language tells it all and her grip on that desk, so strong that it cracks, tells him what he needs to know. They’re still teenagers, kids in the eyes of the general public, there is no way they can keep their cool after being put up against hellish horrors along with the loss of a life. He opens his mouth to begin his retort when suddenly…
WAAAAAHHHHHHH
A noise seeps into his ears and echos in his brain, jogging familiar memories of beasts he himself used to slay on nightly jogs. His posture fixes itself almost as if he were ready to turn and strike should the beast be behind him. His eyes looking up and to the right as he pinpoints the direction of the noise, well noises to be accurate since they begin to multiply. His emerald eyes shift back to Blume who has sweat forming on her forehead and rolling down to her chin, is she nervous or scared? Chinks and cracks in her armor, Blume is no more than a little girl with dreams and aspirations she herself probably can't fathom entirely. Not so invincible as she acts. He almost wants to laugh in her face, not out of disrespect or making fun of her but more so at their shared condition. Both of them were on their high horse, arrogant to a degree and full of pride until they were put in a situation that made them both look small, small fish in a big ocean.
“Dominic, if you find yourself inadequate, then don’t you dare take a step from this room. Rather than be a casualty, at least stay alive to ensure you can provide quiet life for your future offspring. The Echt are scarce as is. Don’t rush into something that you aren’t ready to give your life for.”
His Quincy roots coming back to bite him again, being a pureblood is a burden he’s only important because of what’s in his veins so he could pass it on. His uncle gave him the same talk, though his uncle moreso wanted him to become a “proper” Quincy. Proper… He is pure blood and he can fight back against spiritual beings rather well in his current condition and if he goes the extra mile… How much stronger could he become? Strong enough to ensure nothing like Karakura could ever happen again or maybe even now, though this is different, he has been humbled, perhaps he could handle this situation. Blume strides past him as he places his hands in his pockets, has to be rough pretending to be strong when you just want time to think or maybe even give up. He thinks back on their first conversation she did say some interesting things, things that are just now being noticed.
“Things aren’t going to stay peaceful any longer, and I need someone like you by my side. I dislike fighting, believe it or not; raising my hand is the very last thing I wish for. It's not necessarily putting you to work. You always have a choice after all.”
She dislikes fighting, could be why she started sweating when the hollow like wails were heard. He takes his hand out of his pocket and looks at it, examining the lines on his palm then turning it over to see the scars along his knuckles from training to fight. It’s what he does, it’s what he enjoys doing. He lowers his hand as he continues to reminisce and thinks back to what she just said to him seconds ago. If he finds himself inadequate then don’t leave the room and basically don’t rush into his death if he isn’t ready to die. Blume is a hard woman to pity because of the things she says. Those things felt light jabs at his character, slights against him as a person even after he stuck with her through that hell and fought the goliath of a monster head on with her. She dare say such things to and about him? Dominic wears his heart on his sleeve, he isn’t afraid to let people know how he feels about something and right now, all he can feel is…
ANGER
Pissed off
He turns to see her already stepping outside addressing some masked group, he’s too far to hear what they are saying but he honestly doesn’t care. He began marching in that direction, was he going to confront Blume or worse, attack her? Dominic isn’t back to 100%, mentally speaking, but his anger steels him, keeps him together and for a while brings him back to how he normally is. By the time he makes it outside he spots the giant blue crosses followed by fifteen of the flying whale Hollow’s being destroyed once they cross the threshold of the crosses. He looked to his left then his right, Blume was nowhere to be seen. He clenches his jaw out of frustration, crouches low and in a single bound launches himself into the air outside the safety of the Kirchenlied: Sankt Zwinger, although he doesn’t know it’s named that or what it does. In nothing but a T-shirt, shorts, and running shoes he sends himself back into battle. He has to do what he knows best, what makes him happy and if that means sending Hollow’s into oblivion then so be it. The killing of Hollow is the secondary objective as his main goal was to find Blume Diamante.
”She needs to learn how to f#%king talk to people!! Scaredy cat running out into a fight she doesn't wanna have! THAT AIN’T BRAVERY DUMBASS!!! IT’S STUPIDITY!!”
Dominic shouts at the top of his lungs out of frustration and to him it feels pretty damn good.
