For the past two weeks that he was here, the recorded data amounted to something strange happening. Shinigami were haphazardly using their devices and breaking protocol left, and right, so it seemed. Kiku had expected today to proceed as normal as the others had been, yet his phone rang a few minutes after the standard report.
Kiku, Looking down at his phone, his eyes shot wide, and he immediately dialed an emergency number and left a voice message.
c560b45cbcf4f954aec8ba3b0c1ad093.png

" Captain Oda, I am reporting in to inform you that Lieutenant Toshiyuki might be in some conflict with an unknown individual. Katsuo's reiatsu had reportedly been flaring and then diminishing. Ignore the request to investigate Naruki; I feel something odd is at work here. Can I formally request Twelfth Division be on stand-by for possible Denreishinki tampering and a trace on Lieutenant Hyouzoku's Denreishinki X? He appears to be taking irregular movement patterns for his patrols in the Living World?"
Kiku closed his phone and sent the same message forwarded to all the Corps Members. They were to maintain concealment and watch and report. The day wouldn't cease its anomalies, it seemed.
His next course of action was due to the behavior of Lieutenant Hyouzoku. Kiku was no stranger to this kind of behavior, and Kiku had trained to look for it. While in the shadows of the second division. A time he wishes he could forget. Sudden flashes of his time learning to find the lie in even the most secure poker face, in their simple actions such as eye flicks and blinks or patterns of speech.
" Guess I can try this Gigai out. " Kiku would then pop into the Gigai after landing in a dark alleyway and stretch around a bit. The reiatsu concealing cloak would appear as a high school dress coat.
Slinging the fake bag over his shoulder that would hold his zanpakuto, Kiku kept his Denreishinki close by as he was awaiting the word from his captain. Running as an apparent human through the streets, without a single hint of reiatsu.

Defeating those Shinigami put Dominic on high alert during his return to the Diamante Manor. Never in his life did he think he’d have to kill a Shinigami, it is not something that ever crossed his mind. For his short 29 years of life he never met a hostile Shinigami until today, but he heard the stories. He knows how powerful they are, what they can do if given the chance to go all out, stories from his uncle, Quincy text, and others who helped refine his Quincy abilities. This is why his reaction was so quick, so fierce, so violent. It was his life or theirs and far as he is concerned his life has a higher calling as a guard to the Empress. He raced across Karakura at breakneck speeds; he had no time to delay or hesitate on his report about the attack. The guards outside of the manor sensed Dominic coming in and were alarmed by his speed and when he did arrive he was already behind them, wind washing over them from his hasty arrival.
”Mr. Kaiser! What’s wrong!? What’s going on!?”
”The Ghost Samurai- err uhhh… Shinigami are hostile, had a group try to arrest me or attack me out there.”
”What!? Sir, we should alarm you that-”

There was no need for alarm as Dominic sensed traces of Shinigami Reiatsu in the area, leading inside of the manor. He dashes for the door, crashing through it shoulder first, rushing down the halls to come face to face with a Shinigami, well, a Shinigami he knows well. Shizuka was there, holding onto Blume, as a trained fighter he could tell that the grasp wasn’t hostile and Blume is not one to let someone casually touch her and keep their life force. He stands there, watching them, the Empress is not threatened by this man but Dominic can’t trust him.
”Empress, I was just attacked by a Shinigami Lieutenant and his troops. Unprovoked, they wanted to detain me and drew their blades. I… Don’t take kindly to that, it's like having a gun drawn on me so… I took them out. They are dead.”
He looks to Shizuka, his brows furrowing and his body ready to launch itself at the man to kill him should he do anything hostile to the Empress.
”These Shinigami are hostile now, we can’t trust them, especially one that is this close to you…”
Energy begins to spark off of his body, his Epithet activating as a precautionary measure. His eyes locked on Shizuka, his fists clenched tightly.
”What’s your order Empress, I can’t kill this man if you don’t back away from him.”

She raises a brow at the awkwardness that Shizuka exudes and gives him another once over, sensing the tenseness that bled from him when he started talking to her. He places his hold on her biceps and takes a firm hold to pull her close. She leans herself back now that their bodies were in closer proximity than what was usually applied.
“We’ve gotta talk about the Humans, Blume.”
“Humans?”

She clenches her jaw as he makes a mention of humans. She was no idiot. Normal humans were hardly a concern of his, and she didn’t necessarily think of anything regarding the Quincy to be of his concern or any of the shinigami. She had made sure of that with all of those under her rule. Blume was more than aware of what a problem Quincy possessed when it came to the balance of souls, and she was more than happy to stay out of shinigami business unless it happened to drag her in. She thinks back to the incident ten years ago where she had lost a friend, and the Shinigami had lost one of their own, at least from what she saw in Karakura. Shizuka had eventually informed her that a situation like theirs had occurred in Naruki City as well.
“I know we’ve received some type of help from the Fullbringers over time but we’ve been ordered to deal with them. Whether it’s by detaining them with imprisonment or death. I came here to ask for your help on the whereabouts and abilities of some of the Fullbringers, along with a little help in detaining them as well.”
Blume stares at him for a bit, quiet, stuck in her head as she struggles to process the request that Shizuka asks of her. While she was aware that he didn’t tell her everything, this was something outlandish. She raises her hands and wraps her nimble fingers against his wrists and begins pulling him off. Perhaps she was just… hallucinating. Dreaming. This was something so out of character, but the look in his eyes was something that spelled nothing but seriousness. Blume tightens the grip she has on his wrists but ultimately let's go and drops her hands to her side.
“Do you understand what you’re asking me to do?”
Her voice is soft when she speaks to him. She tries to think about this as rationally as she possibly could, but even with what information he gave, there was ultimately nothing that she could have come up with that would force the hand of either entity unless--
”Empress--”
The sudden arrival from Dominic startles her out of her head and she turns her head to face him as he crashes through the door with full force and scrambles down the hallway to meet her and Shizuka. She observes him, eyes wandering all over and every inch of him and he does to both her and Shizuka.
“I was just attacked by a Shinigami Lieutenant and his troops. Unprovoked, they wanted to detain me and drew their blades. I… Don’t take kindly to that, it's like having a gun drawn on me so… I took them out. They are dead. These Shinigami are hostile now, we can’t trust them, especially one that is this close to you…”
Dominic’s focus is solely on Shizuka and she can see the sparks that begin to fly as her subordinate is still running off his adrenaline high from his earlier bout.
” What’s your order, Empress, I can’t kill this man if you don’t back away from him.”
She pulls away from the shinigami and rushes over to Dominic, her hands grasping at his face and moving his head from side to side to see if he’d been hurt in any way. While he informed her of him taking them down, whether or not he had gained injuries from them was unspoken. Blume had the utmost confidence that Dominic would be able to handle himself, but having him injured was something she could never stand for. She gives no orders for the time being.
“You’re okay. That’s all that matters to me right now.” Blume puts her hands on his shoulders and gives him a gentle squeeze. “Stand outside. I’ll be fine.”
After confirming that Dominic would be standing outside of the room that they occupied, she turns back to Shizuka. Was this what his agenda was? Even if it was the Fullbringers that he was asking for now, would it be her people next? If she didn’t have this relationship with him, would there have even been talking of something like this? No, if they’d never met, then this relationship would have never existed. Maybe Quincy was a part of those humans that he mentioned; while he came here to warn her, her people had come into contact with his kind and threatened Dominic and now he was here, ready to let loose on another one.
Blume knew the risks they were taking since they started seeing each other, but it seems as though her fantasies had clouded her vision. Her infatuation with him had blinded her, and here they were, his people wanting to do exactly what he had just requested her of not more than just moments ago. What was more important to her than anything was her people, and right now, they were in danger, especially after the events that Dominic had gone through just moments before he had burst through her door. Whatever way this story was to be spun around, the Quincy were getting the short end of the stick in this situation, no matter what discussion was to be had.
She started pacing back and forth, gnawing at her bottom lip as panic began to settle in. Dominic had killed Shinigami. A Lieutenant and his men... Did he at least kill everyone that could have seen him? Did he use any of his spiritual power to conjure anything that would give them away? Perhaps she could turn this around. Shizuka had said that he was looking for Fullbringers to deal with them... Imprisonment or death, he said? Would she do this? While the Fullbringers weren't exactly all too innocent, they didn't have much to do with this current situation...
Running her fingers through her locks and pushing her bangs out of her face, she exhaled softly and closed the distance between them. She gets close, real close; closer than how he held her when he'd first gotten here, taking a hold of his shihakusho top and pulling him down to where the air between them became stifled, her forehead pressing flat against his, forcing him to look at her and nothing else. When she speaks, she speaks just loud enough for only him to hear.
“All your rules that you shinigami have set in stone, we have followed for nearly two-thousand years, keeping your balance in order and doing everything to keep the peace between our races because I know what people like me can do. Tell me, Hyouzoku-kun...” Her voice grows more sultry, purring as she attempts to coerce the only person that could divert the attention away from her, from Dominic, from the Quincy. The grip around his shihakusho loosens and she slowly snakes an arm around him and entangles her fingers in his teal strands. Her free hand takes a hold of his and guides it down to her waist, allowing for his hand to lie flat against the flesh of her stomach.
“I have kept my promises for the last ten years. However, your men attacked one of mine, but I'm not making a spectacle as of yet. This can be an easy fix where both of us can get what we want... I can give you the information that you need, but I want him safe; I want my people safe. Can you do that?"
The Empress has him in her hold. His answer would result in whether or not he too would just become another casualty, but she didn't want to go that far if she didn't have to. She'd kept this going for ten long years, and like hell, she would let everything just fall apart because the Shinigami were feeling afraid. The Shinigami were cutting their losses, but had very little to gain, even if they did bring the hammer down on spiritually-inclined humans. The Togabito events had resulted in heavy casualties that even caused the sudden admissions where the shinigami were being promoted left and right, Shizuka being one of them. While she may have not known the extent of it, to be considered one of the strongest of an entire division was something in itself. And here a lieutenant was, wrapped around her finger.
“Would you protect me? Protect us?"
Her hands cupped his face, and with every word she spoke, her lips were just centimeters away from making contact with his with every syllable that escaped her. There was only one answer that she could accept. The temptress was sickly sweet with the man who'd spent a decade with her in the shadows. Blume had spun a web that Shizuka found himself trapped in, whether he knew it or not. She knew what to say, and how to say it to get what she wanted. She knew what to do and how to do it to get the results that she desired. Unfortunately, her feelings had ultimately shown face, it clouded her judgment, and now they were here in this sticky situation because some little shinigami had decided to threaten a member of her Wandenreich, and it ended up with them and their comrades losing their lives. That news had brought Blume back to the indefinite reality in which they lived. If not for the romantic feelings between her and Shizuka, his life could have ended right there with the danger presented, but she chose instead to take a different path, one that wouldn't have to end in getting rid of him. Would Shizuka choose to act as a soldier after all of these years or succumb to the words of his lover?

The words that came from Shizuka’s mouth projected deeper than expected. He rehearsed this notion in his mind, but hearing it out loud in his assertive tone made it harsher than what was initially thought of. He instantly regretted the way it come out, but it needed to be said. Regardless, as selfish as it sounded, the Fullbringers were the Shinigami’s objective. They didn’t have a purpose in the end of goal of the Soul Society, as directed by the Captain Commander himself. Any potential upbringings or business decisions the Quincies had with them were of no concern to Shizuka. His intentions were clear cut, he needed them eradicated.
“Do you understand what you’re asking me to do?”
The Lieutenant saw the duress that hung onto Blume’s face after his statement. His own emotions wavered slightly. She began to stave off his grip and move away closer from him. Shizuka knew it was a telltale sign of a disagreement, but he needed to save face. Carry on the confidence that allowed him to speak with such force in the first place. He could obviously tell she was taken aback by such demands. Her once welcoming presence soon became confused, drawn away by the demanding words that he uttered into existence.
Illustration1406-resize.png

“Yes, I know it’s interfering with the business relationship you have but, we need to-“
BANG

Shizuka, so caught up in the emotional conversation with his woman, completely ignored the looming presence of the man who just bust into the manor with no regard for anything. The Lieutenant's elite level of sensory would’ve caught the trespasser from miles away, especially with the way his reiatsu was leaking from his soul. This just showed completely the casual effect Blume had on the Vice Captain. Whenever she was in his vicinity, even the world didn’t matter. He felt completely safe within her grasp, capable of surpassing anything. The only thing that he cared about was the beautiful and transcendent being in front of him.. Whether that would spell his utter downfall in the future, remained to be unseen. Though the issue of her bodyguard arriving at such a key time, proved to be more concerning for the two.
"Empress--”
Shizuka eyes immediately darting his eyes towards Dominic. The young quincy looking as if is his own life was in peril.
[“I was just attacked by a Shinigami Lieutenant and his troops. Unprovoked, they wanted to detain me and drew their blades. I… Don’t take kindly to that, it's like having a gun drawn on me so… I took them out. They are dead. These Shinigami are hostile now, we can’t trust them, especially one that is this close to you…”
Shizuka was dumbfounded, it was impossible to digest the words coming from Dominic's mouth without any blatant reaction. Shizuka loosened his grip from the Empress and reached to his side to hold a firm grip on his zanpakuto. The thoughts swirling in his head from Dominic's claim were, indescribable.
“Why were you attacked?”
“Why are you uninjured?”
“Who was the suspect?”
“How did you escape?”

All these thoughts plagued his mind as the quincy barged into the room, interrupting his spiel. Shizuka took a quick moment to fully survey, Karakura Town in his limited range. While hindered he could only sense the majestic reiatsu of Blume, but everything came full circle once he began to focus his technique. He sensed the presences of predominate forces, the likes of Saiko Junsui and 1st Division’s lone janitor Kiku Shunkai. Something was missing though, Lieutenant Katsuo Toshiyuki should’ve been stationed in the vicinity. His reiatsu was vividly clear, and brimming before he made his movements to Blume’s manor. In Shizuka’s mind there’s no possible way Toshiyuki-san would’ve been defeated so quickly without him noticing. His reiatsu would obviously flare up to an extent if he was facing an opponent like Dominic. Why was this transaction so quick? Shizuka needed answers, and the grip on his Zanpakuto tightened as he yelled to the young bodyguard.
“You took down a Lieutenant?! So quickly?
How is that possible?”

Shizuka was obviously distraught. The tables were going to be turned against him. Blume would most likely lose trust within the lone shinigami, and things would escalate to heights that it should’ve never reached. He still couldn’t wrap his mind around why any Shinigami would attack Dominic blatantly. The Captain Commander’s order were targeting humans in general, but it was mainly against the Fullbringers themselves. The Quincies were completely out of the question at this current moment. Anyone with knowledge upon the Soul Society's past would understand the threat of the Quincy’s true power. A power that fell a Captain Commander, and multiple souls of high ranking. If it weren’t for the great Ichigo Kurosaki himself, there’d be no Soul Society to even exist in. Why would Toshiyuki-san start a blatant fight with a Quincy, knowing the consequences. If the Lieutenant of 13th did survive and killed Dominic, he’d break the thousands year long ceasefire. If he didn’t survive (Which Shizuka assumed) , Dominic would be blamed, and his entire race would be subject to hostility. Obviously though, the man at question didn’t care about any consequences. It seemed the only thing he was ready to do, was combat.
“What’s your order, Empress, I can’t kill this man if you don’t back away from him.”
“Tuh, assuming you could even do that.”

Shizuka always respected Dominic’s job, as well as his power. The Lieutenant was unaware of the power, the bodyguard gained over time. That didn’t stop his advance though, because Dominic was foolish to think he could even attempt to kill him when his own power had been flourishing for 100 years.
As Shizuka was ready to unleash his Zanpakuto, Blume relinquished his grip from him and ran towards Dominic. Shizuka, dropped his guard and released his hand from his Zanpakuto. Witnessing as Blume scurried over to Dominic to make sure the man was okay, caressing his face to make sure he was unblemished. Like a mother watching over her child. Shizuka was foreseeing his end in the equation, maybe the Empress didn’t need much to lose faith in the Shinigami. Maybe his faith in the woman wasn’t justified over years of their relationship. In the midst of this, Shizuka felt like a hopeless fool. The Vice Captain watched as Blume did a secure check on her bodyguard, making sure no scratch was found on him before sending him away to another room.
“You’re okay. That’s all that matters to me right now.”
“Stand outside. I’ll be fine.”

After waiting for Dominic to remove himself from the room, the two were left in an awkward silence. The young Hyouzoku couldn’t explain to Blume, what had transpired. For he did not know himself. His transaction with the woman caused him to be oblivious to the outside world. He couldn’t control what happened to his fellow Shinigami, much less what happened to Dominic. He was stuck in her submission, any leverage he had within the conversation all dissipated with Dominic’s arrival. He was in the wrong.
He watched as the love of his life paced back and forth, away from him. He could tell she was still distraught from the news. All he could do, was stand silently and let the woman go through her due process. She finally made her way back to the shinigami though, but with a different energy. One that was more assertive and less forgiving. Shizuka could sense the parallel that struck him when he decided to meet her, to how she is feeling now. The Empress had made a decision, a mandate if you must. She gripped the Lieutenant’s shihakusho, pressing her forehead together with his own. Her forceful gaze, administering complete contact with his own gaze. He was completely under the woman’s subjugation.
“All your rules that you shinigami have set in stone, we have followed for nearly two-thousand years, keeping your balance in order and doing everything to keep the peace between our races because I know what people like me can do.”
She spoke no lies. Shizuka never wanted to say it out loud, but Blume had the capabilities of shattering the Soul Society’s elite easily. Himself included, within the massacre. She was a dominant force, but to him it was expected. Her power was reminiscent to what was told in legends, about the Quincy King himself Juha Bach.
“Tell me, Hyouzoku-kun...”
He was listening intently, nothing could interrupt the words she was about to speak to him.
“I have kept my promises for the last ten years. However, your men attacked one of mine, but I'm not making a spectacle as of yet. This can be an easy fix where both of us can get what we want... I can give you the information that you need, but I want him safe; I want my people safe. Can you do that? Would you protect me? Protect us?"
Her hands guiding his own, to her stomach. He could only assume one thing, yet he was hesitant to accept. There could be no possible way he—
How long ago did she—
It was important, but for the current situation he couldn’t be too distracted on that topic. Even though his heart beating with fear and excitement. With that type of deadly persuasion, combined with the love he already he had for her. He didn’t have much of a choice but to agree.
“Okay my love, I promise you and Dominic will be absolved from the situation. I give you my word.”
Ultimately as she made her mandate, he had already made his. He was going to walk the line between righteousness and order. All for the sake of the shinigami. He continued to rub on the stomach of his Empress, mesmerized by his own thoughts. After coming out of his trance, he made his final statement.
“The shinigami are probably in a scramble now, with what Dominic just did. Let me out through a secret way, so I can avoid suspicion from the Shinigami. When I retrieve my device, I need you to relay extensive information on these Fullbringers we need to track down. Also i’m going to need you to have someone deployable to help if we really get outgunned.”
He moved his hands towards Blume’s right hand and cusped them before lifting them up to his lips.
“You don’t need to do any work.”
He finished off his sentence, stealing a kiss from his beloved. Slowly waiting for the Quincy Empress to direct him to a proper exit.

“You took down a Lieutenant?! So quickly?
How is that possible?”

The shinigami is the first to make a comment on what he had said and honestly Dominic was confused. Why was he so bothered and loud about it? The Lieutenant didn’t seem like anything special, however to be fair Dominic did not give him a chance to fight back. Dominic didn’t even think about responding to his statement, all that was on his mind was attack.
“What’s your order, Empress, I can’t kill this man if you don’t back away from him.”
“Tuh, assuming you could even do that.”

The energy from Dominic’s body no longer simply sparks, it arcs into the ground, gouging into the floor, his emerald green eyes shifting to an electric blue color. Dominic was ready to hunch down and launch himself at the disrespectful fool, ready to destroy him as he did his comrade. Whatever has happened with these Shinigami they have suddenly become arrogant, the same ones who needed to rely on Quincy to help protect a single town. Their arrogance is baseless and unfounded because they are weak. This man, no matter how close he is to Blume, is going to understand this shortly.
”Bet.”
Dominic’s only retort to Shizuka but before he could launch his attack Blume raced over to him, he halts the arcing of his energy with his eyes returning to their normal color. He stands up straight and when she reaches him she begins examining his face. He raises a brow at first to this then sets his eyes back on Shizuka.
“You’re okay. That’s all that matters to me right now.” Blume puts her hands on his shoulders and gives him a gentle squeeze. “Stand outside. I’ll be fine.”
Dominic looks back to Blume and nods.
”As you wish Empress.”
Dominic turns to leave the room, normally as someone leaves they would mutter something under their breath to try and get in the last word, but not this man. He doesn’t care, he will disrespect someone to their face and not think twice about it, he does this because he can back up every ounce of trash talk.
”Punk ass ghost, should have kept your ass dead in the ground.”
Dominic’s last words to Shizuka that he speaks loud and clear for the Shinigami to hear as he exits the room. He shuts the door behind him using Reishi to repair it for now until it can be properly mended after he rammed through it. He walks down the hall until he is far enough away to no longer hear them, as rowdy as the young man is he respects privacy.
