The look of confusion on his face caused Blume’s lips to twitch, but a gentle smile immediately returned upon his laughter and exclamation of being out of his expectations for the night. Good. He was amused, and that made it easier to reel him in. Small and fragile was what he had expected, and Blume was anything but. Indefinitely towering over him by nearly a foot more, the Diamante head listened closely as he praised her of hidden features despite her outward appearance. Adding to the fact that he didn’t seem deterred by her appearance in the least, it only meant that his priorities wouldn’t be swayed once set. Feeling the eyes of the crowd on them, Blume’s gaze never left Dominic, observing him quite closely and letting out a tinkling chuckle as she watched his gaze shift into something that would only scare the sheep away, and it did.
As his eyes once more fell onto her, she tilted her head, listening as he immediately got to business on why she needed him.
"So what's up? I figured this is for some sort of Quincy business, and I guess your family is super important or whatever. Need me to kill some loitering Hollows you guards can't handle? Even though you would be able to do that yourself with all that strength, you're sitting on. Or is this about something else altogether?"
He was observant. Thinking back to his pictures, she could only wonder exactly what he was waiting for, but of course, with his enthusiasm for beating down hollows, Blume could get an idea of what this boy did for fun when not training or in matches.
“While it is for Quincy business, my family has no hand in why I want you.”
Taking a stride forward, Blume led Dominic to one of the unoccupied balconies and felt the rush of cool night winds blow against her skin. As they walked, she talked, taking small breaks here and there just to see if Dominic had questions, comments, or concerns.
“I want you for selfish purposes. Those guards you mentioned earlier: nonexistent." Blume brushed back a stray lock behind her ear. Occasionally she would glance and find Mia and Bradley glancing in her direction. “I understand you’re a fighter, fresh off the block but with three wins under your belt, no losses; it is always impressive to see someone as ambitious as you.”
Her gloved hands rested against her hips and she glanced up towards the sky. It was… eerily quiet, the more she drowned out the background noise of the party guests. Not as if she forgot about Dominic’s presence, Bluume was just in thought on a proper approach for him. Beating around the bush wouldn’t do any good; Dominic was upfront about everything, and it was made an example of when he exclaimed of her not being anything frail nor small. He was fierce, she saw it in those green eyes of his, burning with passion for a fight. Dominic was fearless and loyal if she played her cards right. So without another thought, she laid her cards out on the table.
“Are you aware of the story regarding the Sealed King, or his hymn?"
It was years ago when she had first heard his tales. The Kaiser Gesang was drilled into her head, from morning to night.
"The seal would be broken, and the king would regain his heart after nine-hundred years. Ninety years after, his intellect would return. And nine years afterward, his power would return. After regaining his powers, it’d take nine days for him to take the world."
Possibly startling Dominic, she’d wave her hands a bit frantically.
“Not that I think that our King would rise anytime soon, anyway. But, you of all people know that activity has been rather active lately on the spiritual side of our spectrum. What did you see a week ago on that trail?”
Once he’d give her the answer that she already knew of, it only confirmed that she needed to move quicker.
“Things aren’t going to stay peaceful any longer, and I need someone like you by my side. I dislike fighting, believe it or not; raising my hand is the very last thing I wish for. It's not necessarily putting you to work. You always have a choice after all.”
Taking the time to approach Dominic, the distance between them was just inches apart. Not with the means to intimidate, but show the sincerity of her cause. She wanted to protect the human world. Shinigami couldn’t be depended on every time, and even if it meant upsetting the balance of souls, Blume would do what she had to. Blume was a lover of peace and hated any sort of conflict. She saw and felt what greed had caused as she grew up. Power was dangerous in the wrong hands of the starved. While other Quincy may share the same drive with her cause, the only difference between them was that Blume wouldn’t follow anyone.
She knew what she wanted.
And she would get it.
“Follow me on my path to Empress and stay by my side, won’t you, Dominic? I’m aware that it’s a lot to take in. I don’t need an answer now, of course, but eventually…” She trailed off. There was no telling where Dominic would stand, but there were only two choices: with her, or against her. On a lighter note, she started again, should he not give her an answer right away. “Regardless, you have the Diamante Forge’s sponsorship for your matches since you enjoy it so much. I managed to sneak in a couple of your fights before the night started, actually. I may just have to ask you for a private lesson for self-defense purposes.”
That warm smile of hers wavered as there was a shrill cry that echoed through the city of Karakura Town, and it was far from human, but maybe she was hearing things. Maybe it was a faint cry from the party, but she knew better. All the Quincy would, hopefully.
He had asked her to call him by his first name, but after working in this particular line, it was merely a sign of respect and politeness. Mia didn’t know Fredrick well enough to call him by his name. Even her lady, who has made it adamant that being called “Blume” was just fine; it was not fine.
“I’m afraid I can’t do that, Mr. Elbeck.”
As she motioned over to Silas, the last thing that Mia ever expected was to be hoisted up by her waist in such an ungraceful manner.
“Mr. Elbeck, please!”
Embarrassment crawled up her skin, and the heat was apparent in her face. She covered it, and hid away from the crowd that looked in distaste at the actions of Fred and Mia, but would not dare utter a word under the Diamante household. When Fred had finally settled down and realized how bad the display was and set her back down. She couldn't land quick enough and smoothed her skirt down quickly and coughed, even as he apologized for his excited rowdiness.
A gentle bow of her head was all that she offered Silas, and she listened intently of their tale against the dastardly Santa figure. She followed behind Fred had he taken a seat with Silas, and chose to continue standing, her eyes drifting to follow the line of her lady's figure as she led the priority of tonight's personal meetings out to the balcony. At the other end of the room, Bradley was conversing with the elder Kaiser. Even if perhaps somehow her lady was unable to convince Dominic by tonight, then maybe the constant pestering of his doting uncle would sway him to take Blume's proposal.
This maid's expression hadn't shifted as she too heard this shrill shriek.
“Excuse me, gentlemen.”
Mia's gentle tone and soft expression make it all seem as if there wasn't a thing wrong in the world. She casually makes her way over to the balcony where Blume and Dominic, seeing a similar expression in concern. Both knew that something had come, but what? And would they have to step in to deal with the matters themselves?
