While most fisherman before her would have considered this to be the point at which the line should have been cut, Omoni Hageshi knew this was when the fight was really going to begin. Now was not the time to turn tail and run. Now was the moment that making a move and not making a move was going to determine the success or failure of the mission. To hook the catch or not. Doing nothing but avoiding the calamity could have been a sound strategy but that was not the way the Fourth Lieutenant did things.
As the plume of debris blanketed them all, she cut through it like a guillotine. Her enhanced vision was not dependent on whether she could physically view the beast it was just his spiritual power that she had to be able to pick out and so she had kept perfect track of him throughout the path of his struggle. The first cero had the ground below her feet quivering but she barely felt it at the velocity she was traveling. The power of it’s wave slammed into the massive woman yet her rate of approach was relatively unhindered. Hageshi was an almost finatical practitioner of endurance and so, although the weight of the Hollow’s attack should have sent her flying in the other direction; Omoni pushed through the shock. This kept her right on track crossing the distance between them as the monster was repelled from the site only to come into contact with Oyama who was just arriving to lend her aid. In a lot of cases, Hageshi had been known to completely ignore those chosen to be her teammates. It was not that she thought herself superior or that she did not care about their safety. Rather, it was the result of being so hell bent on the objective that she forgot they were there and it was due to this that Omoni most often worked alone except in this situation Hageshi was grateful for the younger girl for she was just the distraction that was needed.
A flash from the cero indicated to the lieutenant that the Hollow was not done thrashing. It’s struggle against her and Oyama was not quite finished. By the looks of things it was hoping to take the both of them out and by extension possibly itself like some kind of suicide bomber. That was not good to say the least, because the requirements of the procedure she had to perform dictated it to be attained alive. However, from what she had learned so far, this Hollow was able to regenerate it’s own limbs so it dawned on her that it was more than likely going to be able to survive a lot of what she could throw at it. It was just planning on the both of them losing their lives instead. Omoni did not expect the thirteenth division member to remain where she was to be injured by the blasts. Half of her reckoned the girl would get out of harms way on her own but the lieutenant was not going to take chances. The hollow had taken a split second to throw down it’s claws and allow it’s ceros to erupt below. This meant that for that brief timeline he would be stationary and therein would lie her chance.
The broken ground detonated and the shards meant to brutalize them scattered but Omoni’s Reiryoku radiated off of her in the shape of brilliant blue flames which enveloped the entire scene including Oyama, the Hollow and herself. Just as swiftly as their flesh was torn and battered or bones were fractured, the wounds would be overcome by those flames and in their place just a reminder of the trauma. The medic’s intention was to ensure the both of them would live on to continue the pursuit. Involving her ability to heal whilst on the field of battle was the way that the lieutenant fought. Since she had done so, any kind of damage that Oyama or herself received would be met with Hageshi’s relentless reparation Reiatsu but, physically imposing her brand of medical kido upon others was not her only style of combat. Soon, flares of the cero’s might started to shred the torso of her uniform revealing her gruesome collection of scars which would have only served as a testament to the horrendous possibilities as to what this woman had condemned herself to so that she could satisfy her own stubbornness.
This was when Hageshi pounced. Quite literally, she pounced onto the Hollow’s back and in one fluid motion made the attempt to bind him in a headlock. Both of her legs now clenched like a vice around his large arms with their ankles fixed together. At the same time, he’d find Namakizu’s iron pressing firmly against his throat below it’s skeletal jaw from behind while her left arm came up to secure the club there. It’s various spikes and spines would have begun to pierce his neck if he did start to exert itself any longer. In her mind, it was capable of withstanding even that especially if it could reproduce itself. Omoni locked onto the beast’s body as if it were an extension of her own, her tremendous weight on him making fast movements close to impossible. This was going to be the sinker and now the
both of the behemoths on the field were going to writhe together. Entangled in their raw power they were entrapped in an embrace that would depend on which of their spiritual energy and fortitude was truly more capable than the other. Countless opponents before this one had gone toe to toe with Hageshi’s brawler-type maneuvers and each one found themselves helpless to her influence yes but above all...they could not penetrate the sheer unbreakable will of that woman. Once she had latched onto that Hollow she was not going to let go unless she had incapacitated it or she was dead.
Could Hollows choke? Did they “pass out”? Honestly, Omoni did not know because this was one of the few times she had ever been dispatched to capture one of them alive but that did not matter to her. The one and only thing she was concerned about was remaining attached to the creature regardless if she was injured or not. In fact, unfortunately for the Hollow the kind of pain that would have surely deterred someone from remaining in the toil did the very opposite for Omoni. The more wounds that she received, the more fierce her constriction became. Similarly, the more courageous wrath that broiled in her blood the more she genuinely wanted to relish in sweet agony..This Hollow was going to do everything it could to hurt her and she was counting on it.
“OI! YOU GONNA WRAP THIS GUY UP OR NOT?!”
The lieutenant’s call sounded like a siren carrying over the deafening sound from the explosion. It reached out for Oyama’s attention and it traveled with a revitalizing sensation. If she was undergoing a momentary amount of shock or perhaps even fear this expansion of Reiryoku would have served to jolt the girl back to attention as if ripping the reigns away from those troubling emotions and putting them back into her own hands so that she could regain control over herself without hesitation. That was, if she had lost it in the first place. In addition to that, her resounding cry would shake the foundation of the girl’s power in general. Exactly like a battery being recharged rapidly and even upgraded to a degree. If she was going to let loose a technique now then it was going to be at a level she had not attained before.
All there was for Omoni to do was hang on and wait for her partner to respond to her command. In her opinion, Oyama was a strong Shinigami and although she did not know the girl that well Hageshi had always been one able to see the real character in a person. Their power was another thing entirely but it wasn’t what the lieutenant looked for in someone when she met them and usually her obnoxiously large pool of spiritual energy was so potent that it gave those around her a severely uncomfortable feeling. They would be stronger and healthier after spending time in her presence but it was common for them to want to get away as soon as possible. Maybe this had something to do with her permanently grouchy attitude too but however it was, Omoni noticed this girl was not repulsed by her and from what the mountain could tell, Oyama was not a coward. As soon as she could, she had faith the girl would help and so Hageshi settled in for one wild ride.
