Knock. Knock. Knock.

”Lieutenant, you called for me?
For a moment after the man of raven hair spoke, a silence began to grow in the room, an eerie silence, one that was only able to be broken by the sound of his own breathing, which made him wonder if there was anyone actually in the room with him, a thought which probably doesn’t occur in the mind of other Shinigami visiting their superior, but with Nozamu it was different. His office desk for the current moment was in the most literal sense, covered in a mountain of books and papers of all kinds from some of the harder to access libraries in the Twelfth Division, it was obvious he was busy. Thankfully he was just finishing up on the latest paper he was writing as the sound of Nozamu placing a pen down on his desk gave him the definitive answer that he did not come here for naught and now he stood up straight.
Before standing up to speak with his subordinate, Nozamu lifted up the small stack of papers he had in his hand and lightly tapped it against the top of his desk, causing all of them to align perfectly at the edges, after finishing this task he set them back down and walked around to the front of his desk where the two of them finally locked eyes.
”I received a surprising amount of complaints that I am no longer overviewing each individual research request and instead passing it down to a few others below me. I understand why these complaints and fears exist, but for the meantime I am not running the Twelfth Division like a Democracy, I am focused purely on getting not only the research that I am doing done, but also figuring up as much data I can on our arrivals from the noble’s manor. I would truly appreciate it as not only your lieutenant, but also your friend if you tried to uphold morale for the current moment and also deliver this device to Nyūraku Kurotsuchi. Tell him that his direct orders are simple, plug the device into his research console, make a copy of all his hollow and vizard based research, then transfer it onto his device. After that he can just have it sent directly back to my office, but it doesn’t matter how quick he does it as all of it will be instantly sent to me the moment he does the transfer.”
Nozamu dug into the inside of his lab coat, fiddling around with it for quite some time as he spoke, obviously he had a few things hidden in there that made a few interesting sounds, but by the time he was finishing up his sentence he pulled out what looked like a disk shaped device about the size of his palm and handed it to his subordinate, who took it without hesitation.
”Uh.. Alright, Lieutenant. It’ll get done.”
A rough cough escaped from between his lips once again, almost sounding as if he had a serious virus causing his cough that might be able to cause a pandemic in the world in the living, but it was probably from all the smoking that he did, it was a wonder he hadn’t modified his lungs at this point since that might be the only way he’ll ever get to the age of people like the Captain Commander. Nevertheless the man went to perform his task as ordered.
As the door shut behind the subordinate, Nozamu released a comical sigh as he felt a wave of relief wash over him, he was indeed busy at the moment with world changing research studies and ideas, but there was indeed time to deliver that disk over to Kurotsuchi, the only reason he didn’t is that he was not in the mood to look in eighteen different directions just to figure out that the man was staring straight at him. Running one of his hands through his crimson red hair, Nozamu began to walk around to the other side of his desk, looking down at the papers and books that littered all around, it was obvious that he was planning something important, but no one realized that his very mind was working to change the Gotei 13 for the better.
Taking a seat his eyes began to skim across everything that laid down upon it, until finally he was able to get ahold of one that was simply labeled as “Vaccine”, which was written a long time ago by Kisuke Urahara during the first incident of there being Hollowfied Shinigami. It detailed how he created medicine using a Quincy’s Heilig Pfeil and human souls that was meant to be injected into the soul of the Hollowfied Shinigami, which causes the conflict of the souls to stabilize and overall stop the soul-suicide effect as it was caused. This is what Kurotsuchi and Nozamu had used together to aid the newly formed Vizards of the Gotei 13 and ultimately save each and every single one of them, if it wasn’t for this single piece of data then there was going to be nothing for them to do except execute them all on the spot, which was certainly a horrible thing, especially since one of them were incredibly useful for further on down the line.
”Kisuke Urahara, what went through your head exactly that made you come up with all this? How is it that no matter what someone did, you were always on top? Even the Quincy recognized you a threat over the Captain Commander of your time and yet here I am sitting, staring at one of your papers, wondering how I am going to accomplish my own goal.”
A heavy sigh now escaped him, a wave of depression once again rolled over him as he began to slowly doubt his abilities, causing him to look down at his hands that had created so much in this life, he looked each detail of them over from each line in his finger to the caliscous on his palms. All of a sudden he felt another pair of hands touch his own out of nowhere, soft, frail hands that lightly caressed him with what felt like love and out of the corners of his eyes he believed he saw a few strands of pink hair glisten in the artificial light in his room. Looking up he expected to see a female that he once knew and cared for deeply, but was instead met with the disappointment of nothingness and what was once a wave of depression became a wave of anger as his mind played tricks on him once again.
”Wait a second..
Thanks to the wave of anger that rushed over him, Nozamu felt a surge of adrenaline in his body that he was going to use for the best, which at this moment meant reaching his hands to grab ahold of the paper that Kiskuke himself wrote and began looking over it with a rather puzzled look. Suddenly he began to dig into the drawers in his desk, eventually pulling out his Denrishiki X, he went through the unlocking process which took a little longer than most since his password was twenty eight characters long, but after opening it up he went to the Caller ID section and immediately went to Kurotsuchi. He was unsure whether or not he was going to pick up at all as the man had his own ways, but it didn’t matter cause Nozamu himself bolted out of his office and began speed walking with not just the vaccine paper in his hand, but also another one that was labeled “Quincy Battle Tactics”.
Either way if Kurotsuchi answered or just let it go to voicemail, he was eventually going to get the message that Nozamu wanted to tell him.
”I know I am finding this out a little late, but I think I figured out how I am able to completely separate the Hollow from Shinigami, permanently curing them, but I need to speak with you immediately on this.”

The one-sided tearful reunion between the Second Division's Captain and Lt brought a bit of a smirk to the Oda, he was happy to see that the infamous killers in the dark still retained some sense of emotion and comradery. His attention returns to Arashi, who responds to his statement about the talk they need to have and in no time at all this is brought to a brief pause by the arrival of Katsuo Oda, Tenzen's younger brother. As Katsuo spoke Tenzen stood silently, observing him and his words. What has this kid been doing while enlisted in the Gotei 13? Is he... Is he on the verge of crying and his voice... All five of Tenzen's senses clung to the singular aspect of fear that was stifled in the young man's words. Tenzen accepted a single pork bun from his brother, not one to be greedy he figured one would be enough to hold him over until returning to his barracks. Katsuo begins to tell Arashi how he forgot to mention to another squadmate that he wasn't dead, this is forgivable because the boy was clearly distraught over the past two months and couldn't think clearly.
" I didn't even tell ma and pops Oda… Oh, Ma is so gonna kill me. Can you possibly talk her out of it Ten? I mean, if you don't kill me first bro. I forgot to water some of your plants… on the porch at home and… well..."
"Calm down Katsuo Hahaha! No one is going to kill you. I'm sure our family knows I'm not dead. The plants will also be fine, I can always grow more."

Katsuo then perks up as he brings the topic around to training and he wants in. Training... It doesn't take a Twelfth Division scholar to tell you Katsuo and Tenzen are not cut from the same cloth, they are as different as night and day. However, no one knows how deep that statement truly runs. They lived together in the same Manor but they were raised completely different from one another, trained completely different from one another as well. Where Tenzen dealt with extreme combat training where blood was spilled, bones were broken, and being rendered unconscious was the norm Katsuo merely dealt with sparring one would find in the Academy. In short, Katsuo was never raised to be an Oda it was a decision passed down from the previous head, their grandfather Yakitsuku "Jigoku" Oda. He accepted the adoption of Katsuo but he did not approve of the boy being raised the same as the others, but now Tenzen is the head of the clan and he can easily overturn such an order.
Tenzen grins and fist bumps Katsuo and listened to his statement about wanting to share and how they are all on the same team. Tenzen scratched the back of his head awkwardly before Arashi finally chimed in wanting to take things outside and Tenzen was in agreement with that statement. They left as a group with Arashi being the first to say his goodbyes to Kurotsuchi.
"Kurotsuchi-san." He bows respectfully before the strange man. "You have my absolute gratitude and respect for saving my life and tending to me over these past two months. I hope for nothing but success in your work and may perfection never find you."
He rises from his bow and nods at the man before moving to catch up to his brother and Arashi. The blinding light of the outdoors assaulted his eyes, he covers them and is reminded of a similar light displayed by Captain Kagayaki during his test with him. His eyes adjust to the outdoors and the memory of that bout fade with that adjustment. He takes a long deep breath, filling his lungs with the air of the outdoors before exhaling slowly. He is outside once again and a sense of freedom washes over him. Arashi then continues their conversation from inside, he sounds curious about Oda's plan. Tenzen faces him crosses his arms, the air becomes serious around him and heavy.
"Suta-san, I would like you to transfer to Division 5 and work with me. That levelheadedness you showed during our encounter with Shirogane even while around the pot was admirable. Even now after all that has happened, you manage to smile. A talent such as yours is a rare sight and I wish to see and help you grow further. Besides, having a Lt who can keep their calm like you would be a great compliment to my own calmness. No need to answer now, think it over with yourself, talk about it with your Division. If you agree to join me be at the Fifth Division barracks by the end of the day if you do not show then it means you've decided to remain with the Thirteenth Division and I will respect your choice."
Tenzen turns to look at Katsuo and then remembers something as he turns to look at Arashi once again.
"We'll also need to figure out a way to get a better handle on our affliction. We'll need to get in contact with Lt. Yugure but I have a feeling she may find us before we find her. That's just how Second Division works."
Tenzen returns his attention to Katsuo and keeps that serious and heavy air about himself.
"I'll be giving you time to spend with Arashi and catch up along with time to speak about his transfer. Once that is done report to the Northern Rukongai District, at the Oda Manor. I will have sent out a messenger by that time and you will be training with our uncle, Yurui Oda. I have some things to attend to at my own Division so I'm sorry I have to cut this short. Katsuo... You will be broken, hopefully, you can rebuild yourself into a proper Oda after that."
After speaking those words he flickered away with the use of his Shunpo, making his way to the Fifth Division barracks in Central Seireitei.

Katsuo followed Arashi and Tenzen as they were all leaving, and followed Tenzen's bow to the adorable Kurotsuchi man, before following the two out. He was shining rather nicely as Tenzen took some of the delicious food he brought, though he grew a little worried as Arashi wouldn't eat. Though, that was his choice. He was probably excited, an opportunity to work for Tenzen. Katsuo was actually quiet, listening to Tenzen asking the 3rd seat of Division 13 to transfer, and his reasons. Katsuo followed along behind the two, concerned over the affliction Tenzen mentioned.. would he look like that multi armed creature again? For a moment Katsuo dazed into his memory of seeing his brother that way. It was terrifying to say the least… even Arashi's form was. However horrific they were, nothing scared Katsuo more than the feeling of losing those he cared about. He would face a dozen creatures like that, to protect them, and die trying.
Tenzen's gaze sparks Katsuo back to life. He turns to mention him, and a name Katsuo was familiar with, only that he'd ever only seen the man a couple of times with their father Kyoki, and he never really stopped to speak with Katsuo.
"I'll be giving you time to spend with Arashi and catch up along with time to speak about his transfer. Once that is done report to the Northern Rukongai District, at the Oda Manor. You will be broken, hopefully, you can rebuild yourself into a proper Oda after that."
Soon after that, Tenzen was gone, again. Not that Katsuo blamed him, he was always very busy any more, but it didn't deter how much Katsuo cared for him. He nodded upon his brother's departure, with an inner sigh.
"Goodbye… for now.. brother… please… stay safe…"
Katsuo turned back to Arashi with his smile again, and walked on towards Division thirteen Barracks.
"It's a great Idea, and, it's really up to you, Arashi-san. You'll still be able to see us when you're not busy, but you know, you still owe Oya and I some more training sessions… maybe after I go see my uncle."
He would try to reassure Arashi they would be fine without him, nothing has really happened in Karakura, other than a few hollow sightings and scuffles. There may be other things out there, but they have so far left the Shinigami to their duties.
"You should take the opportunity to become my brother's lieutenant, Ara. I wouldn't have anyone else other than the fastest Zan protecting bro. You'll do great. Let's go meet up with Oya, she wanted to do something with us, as far as I know. A picture, on our… "
He waved his hand with his DenreishinkiX in it, and raised a brow after looking at it.
"Why don't they just call it Soul Phone or something like that, I already forgot the name of this damn thing again…"

As if the air itself contracts and tightens. The heaviness and seriousness that Captain Oda carries is felt. Arashi’s response to this change is all the same. Compliments given to him, and from what he saw as a rarity, it wasn’t to Arashi. After all, he lived with the expression since way before you ever joined the ranks. However, Captain Oda gave Ashi the chance to think about it. Spend time with his comrades sooned to become former. Katsuo and Oya will have their final day with him and he will surely make the most of it.
"We'll also need to figure out a way to get a better handle on our affliction. We'll need to get in contact with Lt. Yugure but I have a feeling she may find us before we find her. That's just how Second Division works."
”Right, I agree.”

It seemed his suspicions were correct. While his compliments and view on Arashi held their integrity, still that fact that they have both been Hollowfied still and always will remain a concern. Banding together, training together, it will help tremendously. Ashi understood this and it only pushed the choice of leaving Squad 13… If he lost control while on a mission. If he loses control while in the seireitei or the Rukongai. Death is assured for him, but even before then, how many people will die at his hands. Taking that observation into account, his decision has been made already, but he will not voice it, not yet.
Captain Oda’s attention transfers to Katsuo. Training is mentioned in order to turn him into a proper Oda. Ashi wasn’t too sure what that meant, but if it means to improve his skills and abilities, then so be it. His thoughts stary for a moment… If he had been a noble, could he have somehow prevented the events from twm months ago? Possibly not, Ashi did not understand that every Noble household has different customs and a way of life. Figuring that they are all the same…
As these thoughts pass, new ones forge, Captain Oda takes his leave. Ashi bows, remaining silent in regards to the transfer still. His attention turned to Katsuo who understood that the decision is his to make, but at the same time, he encouraged it. A broadened smile, glad that he is the first of many to accept this… How would Oya and the others respond to this? He will never find out standing here. With the mention of their pictures being taken together Ashi didn’t mind. He figured it would be nice to keep a physical memory of Squad 13. Their journey to Squad 13 had already begun.

Katsuo found Arashi rather silent on the trip back to Division thirteen which made Katsuo stare at him with worry. Perhaps what transpired was really getting to him, Katsuo wondered what exactly Arashi remembered. He remembers most of it, the forms of Arashi and Tenzen most of all. He didn't know exactly how to talk to Arashi about it, and didn't know how the others would react, as potentially the story of them becoming hollowfied probably already gotten out.
As they walked, Katsuo every once in a while looked around to be sure nobody was aiming to kill Arashi out of fear or overall speculation, nowadays he felt as though he couldn't trust other Shinigami. To him Fear was the greatest evil, and led to other crimes and evils. He couldn't shake his own fear which made him drag his feet and himself into the ground. He wasn't completely blind to it, but he was tired of it. He figured going to someone Tenzen knew could help him, would ultimately improve his chances. Changing himself would be the first step in changing the world.
"Arashi… people may… treat you differently out of fear, if that happens don't let it effect you. It's not your fault what happened, it was Kuchiki-san. If anything, you, Tenzen, and The young pink haired lady are heroes. Unsung heroes. Like the ones in the living world, that do small deeds that go unnoticed to most, but seen by the ones that have watchful eyes.
Katsuo liked the human world for those types of people. They changed the world and made it better, one act of random kindness at a time. He'd continue down the street toward the Division 13 Barracks. When they arrived he looked around for Oyama.
"Oh HAIYIOOOO! Guys? You here? Arashi-san is back! Hey so am I!"
Some of the Division 13 members were there, but fewer than usual. Some of them came to meet Katsuo and Arashi, Katsuo giving them a hand shake.
"Anyone seen Oya-chan?"
He said, holding up half the paperwork he had done.
