The subject named Arashi Suta was the first to rouse from slumber. He seemed slightly disoriented. Understandable, when was the last time he was in actual control of his body? The last time he was actually able to properly move?
A single hand moves, running over the crown of his head. Fingers comb through the mess of elongated hair, noticing it had grown in considerable length much to his surprise. The third seat moves to sit up, an act that took some maneuvering and strength.
”I am, alive…”
He remarks with a smile. Was it a smile of contentment, or one of relief? Perhaps only Arashi knew. Kurotsuchi stares at Arashi — a puzzled expression worn on his disfigured face.
”Well of course you’re alive imbecile. Was there a reason in stating the obvious?”
Nyūraku remarks, his left eye blinking followed by the right after a brief pause. He watches as Arashi’s hand now comes to his face. Where he once recalled a mask covering it, now only flesh rests beneath grazing fingertips. After his brief self examination he swings his legs over the edge of the bed, and for the first time in two months, he stretches his body, loosening his joints and the stiffness in his limbs. Concurrently the sound of more joint popping and cracking rings out almost in concert with those of Arashi’s. The other specimen, the supposed Captain, seemed to have tired of playing possum. Excellent.
”I would hold off on saying I feel excellent-”
Arashi begins, causing Nyūraku’s bug eyes to seem to bulge out even further in excitement. He opens his mouth as he begins to speak with a smile, reaching out towards Arashi.
”-but I do feel good. Stiff, but good. More or less.”
”Oh...I see.”
The man remarks in disappointment, his smile fading as his hand drops after waving dismissively at the recovered third seat.
"I'm... Uhh... Feeling fine myself, a bit of exercise will wake my body up. I... Umm... Do not know your name but thank you for... treating us. That said, w-what is your name sir I shall be sure to remember the name of the one who saved my life."
”You don’t know my name? Hmm...I suppose it’s only to be expected of a stammering clod such as yourself. Very well, specimen number two. I suppose you do have the right to know.”
Thin arms covered by heavy sterile white sleeves rest behind the small of his slightly hunched back.
”My name is Nyūraku Kurotsuchi, and if you truly desire to show your gratitude, then you’re more than welcome to stay another month. I have a number of things I’d love to try out on you. Though I cannot guarantee you’ll maintain this physical form, I assure you it’s completely non-lethal-”
In the middle of his sale’s pitch the pink haired one springs up. Now fully awake specimen number three begins scooting back until the wall blocks any further retreat. The small specimen began examining her body, just as specimen number one did, though her self examination seemed slightly more...frantic.
“I’m okay… my body’s okay...”
An audible sigh of frustration
”What is with you simpletons and stating the obvious. To be surrounded by mere primates...how daunting.”
He shakes his head. Specimen Number three, Lieutenant Yasu of the Second Squad studies her surroundings, and then the colleagues next to her. Her face turns a shade or two as tears begin to swell in her eyes. Was something the matter? Had something gone wrong?!

Finally another opportunity to experiment and investigate further. The scientist wastes no time, hands fishing inside his coat in search of the tools kept on his persons.
“You… Who changed me!? My innocence! Was it you?”
He’s caught off guard, staring blankly as his hands cease their roaming.
”Are you truly this daft, or do you simply love asking and stating the obvious? Of course I changed every single one of you. You all were an utter mess when dropped off.”
His hands return behind him as he begins his slow and casual pace back and forth before the trio.
”I had to strip you all of the torn and bloody garments covering you so I could properly inspect the fresh mate-I mean your bodies. Afterwards I took the liberty of trying out a number of things on each and every one of you, all experimental of course. I assumed you all wouldn’t mind given I was taking time out of my busy schedule to personally treat you. Of course I assumed correct.”
He explains, reminiscing as he speaks, mind fleeting back to the joyous moments where they were strapped down, screaming out in utter agony as he tried concoction after concoction, injection after injection. The data he obtained...invaluable.
”You all needed to be restrained and heavily sedated several times. I had to constantly tweak and alter the sedation to inhibit your movements without completely dulling your body’s ability to respond. Flesh needed to be mended, bones restructured and then there was injecting you all with a serum derived from the genetic material and spiritual power of the Quincy to combat the hollowfication. It was the first time I had ever attempted such a thing, and I half expected you all to die. I planned to experiment on your corpses afterwards to better refine the process for future eventualities.”
He spoke every word calmly, simply as if having a simple and casual conversation. He then comes to a halt, turning to face Yasu who stood at the see through door separating them from him. He leans forward, eyes once more blinking out of sync with one another.
”However, after days of watching your bodies twist and contort and battle the treatment, it all appeared to settle. Once it appeared that I’d be denied my corpse material, I prepared your attire. Dressed you all, applied a little Kurotsuchi sheen to specimens One and Three pro bono, supplied only by myself, and observed you all round the clock as you slept until finally waking.”
Finishing his explanation, one that certainly wasn’t asked for
“HEY! WHICH EYE DO I LOOK AT!? BETTER YET, DO YOU HAVE ANY FOOD?!”
He simply stares at her, tilting his head ninety-degrees to the left, eyes once more blinking out of sync.
Moments after Yasu’s outburst a shadow is cast along the ground behind the Kurotsuchi.

Captain Mukuro approaches, led by one of the many brilliant minds of the Twelfth Division. Nyūraku stares at the Captain for but a moment before dismissively turning his focus back on the three specimens. There is sadness in his heart, losing such prime test subjects so soon. It seems parting was indeed, such sweet sorrow. He sighs, lifting his hand to gently touch the glass wall. Kyomu says nothing, his gaze sweeping from Arashi, to Captain Tenzen, before finally landing on Yasu. He says nothing as he stares at her, studying her form. She seemed otherwise in good health, and more importantly..she was alive.
Nyūraku drops his hand to the keypad fixed on the door, his fingers blur as he presses key after key. There is an audible click, followed by several more before the door finally creeps open.
Kyomu steps back, and calls to his Lieutenant with nothing but his gaze.
TAP TAP TAP
A light knocking at the door. There is a pause before the door is opened.
”Katsuo Oda? Good, you’re here.”
Another man of science, this one aged several times over. He opens the door further, waving towards the young shinigami.
”Come, your brother Captain Oda of the Fifth Division, and Third Seat Arashi Suta have finally woken and are being let out of quarantine. I shall escort you to them.”
He speaks slowly, stepping aside as he awaits the young man. Once settled and stepping out he would escort the younger Oda to rendezvous with those of his sibling and his squad mate.

Awake or not, he further begins to grasp the functions of his body. Standing, allowing his feet to touch the floor. Cold, but never bothered by it. Ashi stands now, straightened in his posture, His hands coming over head to stretch even further, more so then he ever did just moments ago. No popping at this time, but instead he releases a steady and long yawn. Indeed, he felt good, and he would rather feel better. He also would rather leave this place; to drench his skin with in the sunlight of the outside world. If the expression existed among his face, anyone could tell that he yearned for the chance to step from these walls of squad 12.
The doctor, better known as a scientist. His contorted and disfigured face managed to share with Ashi a smile. It was hard to tell at the moment what such an expression held for him. Contentment? Relief? Excitement? Normally able to tell these things through a simple glance. Waking up surely showed that he is lacking in this understanding at least. Though it only proved that he needed to leave...
”Well of course you’re alive imbecile. Was there a reason in stating the obvious?”
Admiration and complete confidence to his work, skill, and intelligence in his craft. As if he knew they would survive under his supervision or/and even his hands alone. In truth, his goal had been achieved. He saved not one, but two more souls. Seated members of the Seireitei... However, it only meant for Arashi that he is once again with in another persons debt...
Damn it...
Grateful, but still wished that he was in control of his own fate. Had he thought long and hard upon this thought, he'd eventually come to realize that he made the choice to stay and instead of walk away. To support a comrade, it nearly got him killed. Ashi could be bitter, angry, and outright disrespectful towards the man that betrayed his trust and the Seireitei. Instead, he wasn't? He didn't feel a thing, no, he couldn't feel any other emotion towards the man. Honestly, he simply didn't care...
”Oh...I see.”
No joy, not even pleasing. Utter disappointment, clearly, he had expected more from Arashi. One should be happy that he completed the task, set by the words of Commander Murasaki. The male waved dismissively, but only Arashi wished that such a gesture would give him the chance to exit this confining space. For now, his hands dropped, easily relaxed, content with his current condition. Still, his inner sins and troubles formed into a being that has become his, inner hollow still lurks. He could not deny his presence. A looming darkness with in even the brightest parts of his mind. Waiting, plotting, praying for the chance to take over once again...
"I'm... Uhh... Feeling fine myself, a bit of exercise will wake my body up. I... Umm... Do not know your name but thank you for... treating us. That said, w-what is your name sir I shall be sure to remember the name of the one who saved my life."
Finally, Cpatain oda awakens, even physically agreeing with Ashi. Exercise sounded like the next best thing to do after getting out of here. No disagreement there. None at all. Expressing his gratitude as one of a noble and resounding family should, he seemed to relinquish his own pride in the moment, asking for the mans name. Once again, Arashi could only admire this trait. Understanding more of the kind of man Captain Oda is.
”You don’t know my name? Hmm...I suppose it’s only to be expected of a stammering clod such as yourself. Very well, specimen number two. I suppose you do have the right to know.”
He continues...
A name he will never forget. He only hoped the offer of remaining here only extended to Captain Oda. Ashi himself had much to do. There are things that he has missed. His Squad mates, Katsuo and Oyama... They have been struggling on their own for two months. He only hoped that even through his absence they managed to prevail. Oh how much paperwork he will have to look over. Manage and even sort through when he got back to his quarters... His arms folding over his chest, his chin resting between the index and thumb of his hand. Clearly with in his own head.
Thinking...
Planning...
“I’m okay… my body’s okay...”
Soon his thoughts ceased, at least for the moment. Following the awakening of Captain Oda, Lieutenant Yugure brings her self to. A bit of a panic, she reassures herself. Yes, she is okay indeed. Just as much as the two males with her. Happy, Ashi is notably smiling, a little bigger than the usual. Yea, he remembered. Her intrusion, the assertion of her rank and authority... It only got her arrested, dragged into the heat of it. Forever changed, like himself and Captain Oda.
”What is with you simpletons and stating the obvious. To be surrounded by mere primates...how daunting.”
Unfortunately, Lieutenant Yugure did not hold the same relief as he and Captain Oda did. Tears filled her very eyes, but then her question showed such a comical sighed of her. Ashi, did not believe her tears to be so, real...
“You… Who changed me!? My innocence! Was it you?”
Shaking his head... Though he understood. Still, he did not care. He would imagine that in order to save their lives, he needed to experiment on them. It seemed he only remembered the part of his bones being crushed and the pain he felt. Commander Murasaki clearly aimed to crush them, but only to save them in the end. Should his gratitude be extended towards him as well? As if he would get the chance to say thank you...
”Are you truly this daft, or do you simply love asking and stating the obvious? Of course I changed every single one of you. You all were an utter mess when dropped off.”
A response he did not hope to hear... Almost making him shutter a bit. Though, he continued.
Furthering expanding upon it. As if he truly wanted to know any of the details. Ashi could tell now that he had a wonderful time. His interests were peaked. These two months kept him active and occupied. It is likely that he looked forward to the next second, minute, hour, and day. Nyūraku Kurotsuchi, discovered the pleasantries of being a scientist.
I planned to experiment on your corpses afterwards to better refine the process for future eventualities.”
...

The most troubling part is how he remained so calm and collective throughout his entire explanation. Quite frankly, he understood how Oyama feels whenever she talks to him. Indeed, this is the creepiest man to ever exist... So much so, that with every spoken word, his smiles begins to flee, inch by inch...
"And I thought I was fucking nuts, this is guy..."
"Hmmm."
"What!? You don't think I can be as cra-"

His inner conflict put on pause. He did not have the energy to deal or even contest his alternate self at the moment. Though if there was a mute button for the scientist before him, he would have pressed it, long before he was even close to finishing. Now he understands why Katsuo listens to music and drowns the world out...
“HEY! WHICH EYE DO I LOOK AT!? BETTER YET, DO YOU HAVE ANY FOOD?!”
A comical outburst. Lieutenant Yugure surely knew how to brighten the mood. The atmosphere she had just created, flees immediately. Her Captain, The Phantom making his stand, casting his presence in the form of a shadow behind the scientist. With nothing but silence, a testament to his infamous and both famous moniker, it is only his gaze that Ashi receives. The unchanging expression, even he would see no difference, but as The Phantom changes focus he finds his Lieutenant. His eyes showed words with no sound.
come...
A call to his Lieutenant. Surely the scientist would not be stupid enough to deny Captain Mukuro even that, but Ashi was also sure that the Captain wouldn't cause a seen or slay the man who saved his Lieutenant. Should the Phantom feel anything, it is likely he would feel gratitude, just as everyone else did. Even in its simplest and slightest form.
Arashi and Captain Oda will soon come to find that it wasn't just Captain Mukuro, but Katsuo Oda coming to retrieve the two people in his life that he cherished most.

"You don’t know my name? Hmm...I suppose it’s only to be expected of a stammering clod such as yourself. Very well, specimen number two. I suppose you do have the right to know.”
The insult finds no ground with Tenzen as he simply awaits an answer on what the man's name was, he was a strange fellow for sure and quite talkative. Tenzen doesn't mix well with talkative people as he'll typically wind up silent throughout the majority of the conversation giving little to no feedback on the topic at hand.
"My name is Nyūraku Kurotsuchi, and if you truly desire to show your gratitude, then you’re more than welcome to stay another month. I have a number of things I’d love to try out on you. Though I cannot guarantee you’ll maintain this physical form, I assure you it’s completely non-lethal-”
Nyūraku cut his sentence short due to the sudden awakening of Yasu Yugure and needless to say, she showed a much more energetic response than Tenzen and Arashi. Tenzen couldn't help but let out an awkward chuckle at her antics, her behavior can be considered a breath of fresh air considering what the three had been through. Through all this Tenzen listened in on Nyūraku's rundown on their treatment citing how they had to be restrained and heavily sedated then injecting them with some sort of serum made up of the genetic material and spiritual power of the Quincy. This prompted Tenzen to look at his own palm and form a fist a few times, he didn't like the sound of strange serums being used on his body, especially one composed of Quincy genetics. While the scientist continued his banter with Lt. Yugure the thought of heading to Division 4 for a proper check-up and cleansing of any foreign toxins the scientist may have left started to sound like a solid plan. Tenzen's head darts up as he feels another presence enter the area, he did not sense this presence based on Spiritual Energy or Reiatsu but a more primal sense like the feeling one gets when being watched or that feeling of someone being behind them. Of course, based on such senses Tenzen would have sensed this Phantom far too late as he was already standing behind the scientist or was he perhaps there the entire time?
The Scientist looks at this man first and turns his attention back to his "subjects", placing a hand on the glass wall with a heavy sigh, surely this man who has been berating them with nothing but insults can't be feeling sad for the inevitable departure? Very strange indeed, but for now Tenzen's focus wasn't on the scientist it was squarely focused on the Captain of the Second Division whose eyes swept across the three in the box and finally fell focused on Yasu, his Lt. When the Captain did briefly gaze at him he gives him a single nod as a greeting, not speaking a single word to him. It seemed like Captain Mukuro was a man of little to no words, someone who can appreciate silence and possibly even be anti-social. Tenzen can get along with someone like that perfectly as it is someone who will only speak to him when words need to be spoken. However, he forgets that he is trying to kick his awkward behavior so thinking like that isn't in his best interest. Tenzen turns to the side of the bed and stands up stretching a bit more with his body being much quieter about it than before. He then looks at Arashi, this wasn't about to be mere socializing and so his words were spoken clear without stammering or stuttering.
"When we get out of here there is something I want to discuss with you, Suta-san. It's nothing secretive but it does involve a transfer of Divisions. I'd rather discuss such things outside in the fresh air is all."
As usual, he can speak without error when it comes to Shinigami business, outside of that he is an utter mess. Tenzen had decided to turn a blind eye to the Second Division Captain, not out of disrespect of negligence but because the man was only there to collect his Lt and nothing more. If such a man wanted to bring harm to them well, considering he didn't realize his presence until the last second is enough to prove that they all would have been eliminated before they even realized what was going on. The Oda takes a mental note of this trait of the Phantom's, more than spiritual sense he'll need his physical sense to sharpen a bit to avoid scenarios like that again, especially if such a thing were to happen on a battlefield. After speaking his piece to Arashi and letting his thoughts run for a bit his urge to leave intensifies, wanting to discuss things with Arashi, see the state his Division is in, and make sure Himari hasn't gone postal from loneliness. Little did Tenzen know, however, that he'll soon be reuniting with his younger brother Katsuo, someone he hasn't seen in quite some time despite them being in the same place over the last 5 months.

“Ew.”
Yasu had no filter when it came to things anymore. Seeing Nyūraku tilt his head at such an odd angle, Yasu could help but mirror him but found herself in sharp pain, holding her neck and letting out a string of curses. However, a new presence snapped Yasu out of her situation as she looks at the looming shadow far than the blue-haired hunchback could ever form. She was scared to face him after all this time.
Would he berate her for not staying put?
Would he be angry that she was so careless?

A chill ran down her spine.
Would he get rid of her once and for all?
Finally managing to look up at the man on the other side of the glass, Yasu Yūgure came to face Kyomu Mukuro. As much as she wanted to see him since the fateful encounter with the Captain-Commander, this fear of losing him upon their next meeting was always scratching at the back of her mind. This is what her inner hollow would scream at her about for the next two months. She wasn’t prepared in the slightest to hear something like that, and she hadn’t thought of any alternatives. Since coming out of the academy, all she’d ever known was the Second Division, day in and day out. Their routines, their training regiments, each and every individual that came and went through the squad with their scornful looks or kind gestures, Yasu didn’t want to leave any of that yet. Even with her steady position on the ground, she felt anything but.
As the door hissed with its opening, and the vice-captain had managed to bring her trembling eyes to meet her captain’s eyes and swallowed. His gaze flitted between the two men behind her before falling on her.
Illustration606.png

Like a wave, relief washed over the lieutenant, and tears streamed down her flushed face. Though no words were exchanged, even this blubbering idiot could understand that her captain wanted her home even after all this time. She could’ve cared less about who was watching as she scrambled her way to her captain with a fierce force, ramming her small frame into her captain’s abdomen and significantly getting his attire drenched in tears and subsequentially… snot.
After a bit, she’d pull off of him -- or if he pushed her off -- and wipe away at the mess with her sleeve cleanly. The sentimental moment was ruined even further as her stomach roared to life. A blank look formed on her face and she managed to help herself to her captain’s pockets, familiar with the stash that he always kept on him and fished herself out a handful of sweet and sour tablets that could sate her for now.
She was ready to leave, but before anything, Yasu made her way over to Nyūraku and grabbed his hand without care and placed several wrapped delicacies in hands as a way of thanks. Touching at her hair, she admired the length that it had reached, just ending below her shoulder blades. Whatever he had used during those two months felt great, and she was sure to come back for more in the future.
Skipping back to her captain’s side, Yasu continued chewing away at her candy, thankful she managed to survive another day in this critical line of work. Upon her captain’s departure, she would follow suit, wondering if the other two victims would want to come together and test their newfound abilities. Between each of them, they were all aware it was something solidified, and they’d have to adapt quickly. Perspectives would change, and they had to prepare for all coming their way.

What felt like an entire day within the sanctity of his inner world, turned out to be merely a few hours. Katsuo's Zanpakuto was rattling in his lap, but as the soft tap and voice of another person comes through the door, Eikōgitsune stops. Katsuo grips the blade tightly indicating where his control and consciousness reawakens to the inner bowels of the Seireitei's Research and development center.
"Katsuo Oda? Good. You're here."
"Huh?"
Katsuo would look up from his trance to see the Division twelve member, up in years, but still viable as a "scientist". Hey. Whatever worked.
"Oh! Sorry. Sure, yeah. I'm usually here around this time, unless my own duties keep me caught up...heh..
Katsuo would blush and rub the back of his head. As he stood up, he took his Zanpakuto with him, placing them each on one hip for now. He didn't feel the need to put them on both his hips. He stuffed his headphones under his chin and turn the music off for now. The wellbeing of his brother and 3rd seat were much more important.
"Come, your brother Captain Oda of the Fifth Division, and Third Seat Arashi Suta have finally woken and are being let out of quarantine. I shall escort you to them."
Katsuo understood, giving the man a quick nod, and allowed him to lead the way. Katsuo figured once they were let out of quarantine they'll be a little hungry. He did grab a couple snacks from the living world before he came back from his duties, and thought maybe they wouldn't mind having some. That was where his bag came from, as he lifted it off the room's table and carried it with him.
"thank you kind sir."
Upon his arrival, Kyomu was already there, in the room with them, and a… rather odd, but… seemingly very adorable, to Katsuo at least fellow that introduced himself to them as Nyuraku Kurotsuchi. Finally… it has been two months, no, more than that since he'd heard Tenzen's voice. He heard it earlier how he was fine, Arashi's as well. Katsuo did get worked up… but promised himself he wouldn't anymore. Tenzen turned to Arashi and spoke of a Division transfer, which caught Katsuo's attention… it was up to Arashi, but… he would be missed at Division thirteen if he decided to go. It would be up to Arashi. Katsuo figured Tenzen had his reasons for asking Ara to join Division five, if that is what he wanted to Discuss.
Still. His eyes glossed with fresh liquid as he went past his escort and sat at the foot of Tenzen's bed. A chuckle, then a large goofy smile went across his face. He gave Arashi and Tenzen a thumbs up before saying,
"I'm so happy… and so grateful to Division twelve, and the head captain that… he brought our loved ones back to us…"
Though his smile said a lot, Tenzen could probably tell Katsuo was hiding his true feelings of fear, he wasn't afraid of them, just afraid of losing them. That fear never really left Katsuo.
"You all must be hungry, I brought things that'll help with that."
He'd say, small beady eyes gleaming as he lifted his little bag. They were small, things to tide them over, but it had to be better than the hospital like food the quarantine room was serving.. had to be… not that Katsuo had tried some of the food he brought. Of course half the pork buns were gone. They were his favorite.
"You guys must eat up! Get your real strength back. O-oh uh oh…."
He said, moving his eyes back for a second.
"I almost forgot, Arashi-san…. I didn't tell Oya-chan I knew you were alive… for the entire two months… she doesn't know what i've been up to…"
He looked a little comically pale with worry as he stretched his hands up to his head.
"I didn't even tell ma and pops Oda… Oh Ma is so gonna kill me. Can you possibly talk her out of it Ten?I mean, if you don't kill me first bro. I forgot to water some of your plants… on the porch at home and… well..."
He said, looking up toward a cloud of dreams only Katsuo could see, of him running past some dead flowers while listening to Music, before screeching in his mind and trying to perk up the dead bushes by watering them. He drowned them. By accident.
It was as if Katsuo worried about some of the smaller things that happened while they were out of it, but he snapped back, his face serious again from the moment of teary-eyed goofiness.
"anyway! I heard Exercise. You thinking about training Bro? I want in."
He said, ready to fist bump Tenzen. He smiled at them both again before turning his head to Captain Murkuro and.. the pink haired lass. He smiled a little bit. He was silent toward the girl but Katsuo's been around Kyomu for two months. He'd seen him here every time he came in. He cared a lot for her. She was the only one to ask Kurotsuchi about food. Katsuo smiled warmly before setting a few of the foods he got for Arashi and Tenzen out. It was nice to share.
"She can have whatever you guys Don't want before they go. I don't mind, we're all on the same team, right?"
It was just how Katsuo was, he worried more about others than himself. A feat that may become a weakness in battle, which is what he wanted to talk to Tenzen about. How did Ten manage to keep his cool? Katsuo just had to ask him later. Was there only a special secret training that only blood Odas could partake in? He felt like he needed to change some things about himself, if he was going to run for captain one day, and, if he was going to protect the people that meant the most to him better.
He let out a sigh.
"I'm just really excited to see you both alright. I'm sorry if I'm talking too much."
