From where he stood, all he could see was tragedy. Not unlike any he hadn’t seen before but...an event such as this was catastrophically inane. Unprecedented. A word he had thrown around a lot as of late with the uncovering of the latest case to hit the detectives desk. Much like the last, the solve in this wasn’t going to be easy to find even after ninety-six whole hours of ongoing investigation with the keenest brains in between both of the most Law abiding and enforcing Divisions among the Thirteen Court Guard Squads. The First and Sixth division members were hard at work day and night to piece together the events that took place four days ago within the chambers of the most senior members of authority the Seireitei had to offer. The Massacre of the Central Forty-Six.
At approximately 3:37 in the afternoon four days ago, Shusuke Kiyoshi was charged with leading the former Captain-Commander of the Gotei Thirteen, Shobatsu Murasaki, to face a trial of inciting insurrection within the Seireitei. He is one of a handful of officials to last see the former Commander in his titicular position. Fresh from what was rumored to be a fairly savage Captains meeting, he had followed his keepers instructions with no issue at all. While taking heed of a report from the Head Lieutenant, Honoka Oki, giving his final commands before being tried by the Forty-Six. After the first 2 hours of investigation, Shusuke walked down the steps at the same speed Shobatsu displayed on their journey. Approximately fourteen minutes to reach the inner chambers of the sages given the speed in which he displayed. By then, Shusuke had already made his way to the apprehension of Enso Aikawa.
Shusuke stepped closer in between the aisles of the benches where the former sages sat. Behind the Kido infused blinds that protected their identities from their charges and judgements. All identities of the Forty-Six are secret, sealed away and never to be told by anyone. Only Nobles of the Great Clans that help make up the Soul Society are permitted to be eligible for a seat and they would then serve for life. He asked the First Division to not clean the blood or any form of DNA from the sanctum as it would hinder and hurt the investigation. As messy as it was, these were some of few clues as to what went down within these halls some days ago. Some of the blood was still thick and wet, with the decaying smell of rusted iron. Shusuke wore his long sleeve shihakusho for the last little while so as not to get anything on himself, while also looking to set an example by wearing standard uniform. He wore latex textured gloves as well, keeping a satchel of sorts with different pockets and tubes of all sizes to keep the samples and evidence he may find to piece together the puzzle. Taking swabs of few things here and there to uncover more things that he may have overlooked previously in the earlier phases of the investigation.
At 4:07pm Shusuke, Honoka Oki as well as other Captains and seated Shinigami witnessed the Purple Anomaly which ended up being confirmed as the flight of the Captain-Commander’s very own Zanpakuto headed straight towards the Central Forty-Six grounds. At the time, it gave Kiyoshi a strange feeling but he was so tied up with other matters that he couldn't’ give it any attention. Safe to say it had all of it now these days. Aside from Shobatsu Murasaki who is now caged within the Muken there is no other alive person to witness this event as the sages were all confirmed dead and to be slain by the blade of the commander who was also said to have been injured in the process of this taking place. Shusuke thought back to the words said by the Head Lieutenant as he arrived on the scene at her call.
c508aa85a84024e4f8b7fc628e439a7e.png

”I arrived after the fact. He was wounded, kneeling and bleeding out on the center of the floor, I healed him, but he cauterized the epicenter, leaving him with a large scar on his chest. From what I can tell, he is now under the effects of Shihōken. As for how the trial went to get to this point... I have no details. Everyone else was already dead. Even so, this has dealt a great blow to our leadership. Not only that, Co-......Shobatsu Murasaki returned to the Muken as soon as he was able to walk, to serve out the rest of his sentence. I have yet to confirm it. Since then, we have been detailing everything we possibly can, down to every splotch of blood and will be turning over the bodies to the families once the investigations are complete. Captain Kagayaki is acting commander.”

He knelt down to take a closer look at a chair which had been cut nearly in half with blood splattered all over it. The backrest of the chair was nearly gone with no trace of the former piece to show for it. Clean cut, as if it were a buzzsaw to slice it. He could still feel traces of the commanders reiryoku haunt the room. It was dank and dark, the air felt stagnant and heavy, depressing was an understatement, morbid was too kind. Not unlike any crime scene he hadn’t come across before but this was a certainly unprecedented occurrence. A Central Forty-Six massacre hasn’t happened in thousands of years. He’d long since thought that the Shinigami ranks had wisened up and moved on from the uprising. The more time he spent in here he had a new question only to have no answers to the thousand in waiting, he had been thinking about asking to go to the Muken and face Shobatsu himself and ask him about his crimes but the chances of that actually happening were slim and never. ”Captain-Commander Murasaki...What brought you on your fall down from grace…?” he thought.
He had unknowingly made his way high in the stands where they all peered down on you and decided your fate. Looking down to the small circle where the charge would stand before them, he tried placing himself into Shobatsu shoes. They were large, intensely powerful but dignified and honed to a razors edge. A beast dwelled underneath the exterior of the man himself. The lights were on, in the same way they were programmed during that day, there had also been no outside forces aside from the kuchiki woman within these chambers but she never possessed outstanding spiritual potential. She was more a hindrance than a threat. By and large Shobatsu Murasaki was the most powerful soul in the room at that time, knowing that he purposely left his Zanpakuto at the First Division Barracks. Why? How did the Zanpakuto reach such a distance…? Kido wasn’t utilized as the seki seki walls would protect the members themselves. They were all slain by the Great Judicators blade. But Shobatsu was also struck as well according to the Lieutenant. Bleeding out considerably before tending temporarily to his wounds.
”En’enra, do you feel the presence of another Zanpakuto in the vicinity? I feel as though if we find the blade of Shobatsu we can probably study it closer within the 12th Division. I’ve thought meticulously about this for the past ninety-six hours and all clues point to that sword. Shobatsu left it in the Captains Hall yards away, and in the years of the Soul Society, not one single Shinigami has displayed mastery over his Zanpakuto to the degree of calling it from point A to B without certain experimental augmentation.”
Shu.Ghost.2.png

”Hm. Can't say for sure. It could be some time before we find the correct reiryoku signature. Even then, with Shobatsu locked away within the deadliest prison the Soul Society has to offer, there's no telling what the fate was for Shihoken upon his master's return to prison. However I do also believe that once you find the Zanpakuto then your avenues of possibilities will have grown that much larger when trying to figure out the cause of the turmoil.”
He sat on that thought for a moment and she was indeed correct. The level of difficulty within this case was undeniable. But he felt he had seen enough of the chamber for one day already, carefully removing his gloves and himself from the peanut gallery above. He was shockingly in uniform, with the exception of his black cloth-like sandals and a purple obi sash rather than white to hold his two zanpakuto on the left side of his hip. The sash matched his eyes although they had a tendency to change shade depending on the lighting he was surrounded by. His white cloak could be found on the back of seemingly the only chair not tarnished in any manner as he walked over and placed it over his shoulder foregoing the hood. Taking one last look before departing, he could only think what went through the minds of those nobles who got slaughtered. Maybe they never even had time to think, but Shusuke was determined to figure it out.
Turning on his heel he excited the chambers and walked back up the decadent staircase up top, to find groups of Shinigami working or taking small breaks outside between the Sixth and First divisions. Some seasoned others quite green, regardless it was all hands on deck for these men and women clad in black attire. The role models of the entire military arm in the Seireitei, a piece of him was proud to be one of the leads on this investigation but the circumstances themselves were within the grey area of emotions. Given who it was surrounding, there was a level of unease among all shinigami present. He walked over to a stationed guard from the First division and made sure that no junior personnel was allowed to enter the crime scene without his expressed permission. He decided to go look for the Head Lieutenant to bounce his current findings and thoughts off of her to get a sense of how they can further the process of the investigation. He took his time, feeling no need for Shunpo, as he was also feeling hungry may stop somewhere to grab a bite to eat and ponder further on the latest on his desk.

Days of Rest
Four days have passed, the first four days in Tenzen’s position as Captain that he has been able to actually rest and meditate. He was able to mentally put things in order, digest the happenings in the Seireitei and furthermore put some thought into himself for once. Not an ounce of narcissism runs through him, however, it is never bad for one to stop and focus on themselves to turn inward and work on inner turmoil, grief, or tend to questions that have been burning for quite some time. One such question that was pushed to the back of his mind and only recently resurfaced was the words of a traitor, words of a man he sent into cold oblivion, Shirogane Kuchiki. As much as The Buddha despises those who turn their blades against Soul Society he can’t help but wonder what the final words of the tyrant meant…
e8b685e7ae5a71bbf41ac7289ad85d9d.png

"I hope one day, Captain. You will come to know the…*groan* truth as I have. Hopefully, once you do, you shall do what is necessary. That's all I wanted. If you want to know the truth, search in the archives of Central 46."
Truth, what truth? What truth did the Kuchiki discover that would make him rebel against Soul Society to seek out such strength? Could these words be the thing that would lead Tenzen into one final trap of a now long dead man? What irony would it be for Tenzen, a self proclaimed master strategist, to be out done by the strategies of a dead man. That is a mere dream crafted in the world of imagination. However, the cards seem to be in his favor as Central 46 now sits empty, the previous occupants evicted from their stations via the merciful blade of Shobatsu Murasaki. When receiving this news Tenzen gave a chuckle, the same bastards that demonized his clan and exiled them from the Seireitei were cut down where they thought themselves to be safest, the power of mere words fell once again to the power of the blade. What remains a mystery is why, why would the Commander do such a thing? It doesn’t matter, arrogant cowards who hide behind anonymity and think themselves unreachable, untouchable deserved death. Here is hoping the next lot is not as vain as the first.
But this “truth” Shirogane spoke of, that matters and right now is Tenzen’s best time to move on before things become “congested” once again at Central 46. Opening his eyes the Captain reenters the corporeal world from his deep meditation, a list of things to take care of while tacking on his own extra tasks. He sits in silence, sensing the world around him, the people of his division are hard at work ensuring to keep themselves busy and active to the best of their ability. He rises to his feet, patting down his Hakama to neaten his appearance as he approaches his two Haori, both folded neatly with his Zanpaktous resting above them on a display rack. He dons these items and takes with him a third blade that is not his own. By holding this blade memories of the Rukongai come back to him as it is the day Eizoku Yugameru was sentenced to the Fifth Division Special Confinement Gaol (特別拘禁牢, Tokubetsu Kōkinrō ; Viz "Special Detention Cell") a place within Fifth Division used to contain prisoners of considerable power, such as Lieutenants. Yugameru did not protest his sentencing and perhaps this cell may be overkill for a compliant prisoner but Tenzen will not allow him to be placed within Sixth Division’s Division Prison Ward (隊舎牢, teisharō; Viz "Detention Area"). Division politics may arise that could have kept Eizoku locked away for longer than he intended.
Still thinking of that day he remembered just how busy that day actually was for his Division, the constant usage of the Senkaimon with a constant flow of orders meant that anyone could have breached security and shadowed the crowd. He does not doubt the competence or ability of the Kido Corps men who watch over the gates but he isn’t one to leave things to chance. Himari Shimi and Takashi Kiyoshi had since been assigned to become gatekeepers, their duty is to monitor those who come and go through the Senkaimon daily. Those who are not assigned to leave are to be stopped and detained by them. As of now their orders are to await the arrival of one particular man who will be going on an investigation into the Dangai. Fifth Seat Kiku has already been dispatched to Naruki City to aid in their clean up efforts. The youngman may have wanted to escape cleaning duties but the nature of his Zanpaktuo aids in cleaning up quite well. He was given specific orders not to touch any lingering Soul King blood unless given different orders by Tenth Division to do so.
The trip to the Confinement Gaol is expedited via Shunpo, while time is not short there are a number of items on the to-do list that must be tended to. The guards stand at attention as their Captain walks past them, he acknowledges their presence with a nod, a gesture everyone within Fifth and Kido Corps has become familiar with. Even with his position as Captain the man is still humble and acknowledges those around him even if he doesn’t speak much. He arrives at the cell door of Yugameru, he stares at him in silence with the young man’s Zanpakuto clutched in his right hand.
A Prisoners Choice
1620bb5b772b31d9e1a78b2df53878d3.png

”Eizoku Yugameru of the Fifth Division. You know why you’re imprisoned so I will skip over reminding you about your charges. There is a task that needs to be dealt with and given the nature of your Zanpakuto you are best suited for the task. That said, you will unfortunately be going alone, you are more than capable of handling this task though.”
The Captain goes silent, clearly there is more he has to say to the man, it’s written on his face. His eyes narrow a bit as he seems to be considering something, and as his mind comes to a conclusion on this consideration his face relaxes once more.
”I have had time to meditate on the actions you took in the Rukongai and I hope you have meditated on them as well and it is why I am confident in sending you to the Dangai. As of right now you are a free man.”
The bars of the cell begin to remove themselves, some retracting into the ceiling and others into the floor in an alternating manner. Now nothing stands between the two Shinigami. Tenzen takes a few steps back and places Kuronosu on the ground; he then takes a few more steps away from the blade. Freedom will not be handed to Eizoku if he wants it and wants to operate as a member of the Gotei 13 once again he will have to step out of the cell himself and take his blade back himself. Should he choose to leave Tenzen continues with the details of the operation he is to be sent on.
”Five months ago the Kōtotsu (拘突, Wresting-Surge) escaped into Soul Society, you already know the details so I will not remind you about what happened afterward. You are tasked with entering the Dangai and figuring out if there was any foul play involved. It is no natural occurrence that the Kōtotsu escaped into Soul Society that day and my intuition is telling me someone is behind it. Search for signs of tampering, leave nothing to chance, collect anything and everything that can give us a lead no matter how insignificant. As of now you are here by being promoted to the rank of Third Seat, Fourth Seat Himari Shimi and Sixth Seat Takashi Kiyoshi will be waiting to open the Senkaimon for you. If this is understood you are dismissed.”
Should the youngman have any questions Tenzen would stop to answer them, however he has his own personal matters to attend to as well, namely breaking into Central 46. As he exits the Special Confinement Gaol he nods to the guards once more before vanishing with his Shunpo. As things stand, his success for breaking into Central 46 is quite high, the Lieutenants will be busy with their meeting with that said his cousin, Honoka Oki, will be preoccupied and unable to keep track over what he is plotting. The First Division is still watchful even without Commander Murasaki around, however, the stand in Commander, Higen Kagayaki, is no Kido Master and this will be an advantage for the Buddha. To his knowledge his only rival in terms of Kido is Captain Yū Nakamoto with him, to Tenzen’s knowledge, on the other side of the Seireitei the chances of running into him are slim. He reappears high in the air, still traveling to his destination when he begins reciting an incantation.
”The collective light that reflects in our eyes, bend and fragment my form. Grant them eyes that see through me, plant eyes in the light to cease curiosity. Bakudō #26. Kyokkō. (曲光, Bent Light)
With the full incantation recited Tenzen vanishes from existence, this nonexistent form continues its travel to Central 46. What will he find once he delves into the archives? What damning secrets will be revealed to him and will they be enough to send him down the same path as Shirogane?

Once again, just like many times before Takashi stands alone in his room at the Fifth Division barracks. There is no furniture in his room other than the mattress he sleeps on and he has set it up against the window to stop anyone trying to look inside and blocking the sunlight from coming in. A perfect place for the man to train by himself without being seen by anyone and hopefully not be disturbed. Inside the room, Takashi is standing in a fighting stance with both legs slightly bent, the front foot facing straight forward and the back foot pointed out at 20 degrees and his right fist is held beside the chin and the elbow tucked against the rib cage while the left fist is held vertically about six inches in front of the face at eye level. In this stance, it looks like he's ready to fight but what is he really going to fight against with nothing inside the room apart from himself.Slowly Takashi closes both his eyes and he uses the power of imagination to imagine his opponent standing there in front of him. The room started to fill up with nothing but tension and without moving a muscle, Takashi began to sweat.
I will surpass everything that stands in my way.
The thought to be the best has always been a goal of Takashi and it is something he has been taught to strive for from childhood. Slowly he opens both eyes to see a giant man in front of him standing 243 cm (7'11") tall and muscles which rivals even the biggest among all the Soul Society. It is a body that appears to have several years of brutal training behind it but when Takashi looks at the face of the man he sees only a piercing gaze and brown long wavy hair and the face does not resemble any shinigami known to him. In front of Takashi, the ultimate strength appeared before him but the appearance of this unknown beast of a man did not satisfy him.
It's no good.. this isn't good enough.. I want more. He has to be scarier..stronger and he must be faster.
The giant man represents someone who will always be stronger and faster than Takashi himself on all physical levels. The imagination has to be stronger then Takashi himself and that is exactly what it is. All of a sudden, the giant man began his attack towards Takashi with an extremely powerful punch with the right fist. Takashi sees this and tries to dodge the attack by leaning his body to the left but there is no use. Because suddenly the attacker grabs hold of Takashi's left hand tightly with his right hand, then he grabs the face with his left hand. The imagination is so real that Takashi actually falls down on your back seeing the man above him staring into his eyes. Then Takashi notices that he has his right hand free and the imagination ends there.
It's still not good enough.
Takashi said to himself as he lay on the floor and a waterfall of sweat came from him. All at once he moves both legs up to the chest and places both hands flat on the ground next to his ears with all fingers pointed toward the tops of the shoulders. With fast movements Takashi rolls back so that all of his weight is on the shoulders and the spine is beneath the shoulders and the rear in the air. In this position he kicks with both legs directly into the air upwards and with the force from the kick his body lifts up and as soon he feels the momentum shifting upwards he does a powerful backwards push-up with his hands. Sending his whole body up in the air and the sensation of this weightlessness hits him and that is when he knows to pull his legs down quickly the momentum will cause the rest of the body to whirl upwards making him land on his feet. When Takashi is about to take his stand again, the door to his room opens. It's one of the members of the fifth division who opens the door and looks at Takashi in surprise before he begins to speak.
Takashi you have been assigned to become one of the gatekeepers at the Senkaimon by Captain Oda.
Takashi nods and raises his left arm up against the mattress and with a fast movement he pulls it down onto the floor and on the bed is his sleeveless shihakushō top. The other shinigami walks away from Takashi's room and leaves his door open as he begins to put on the last part of his uniform. With an annoyed look, Takashi looks at the open door and walks quickly towards it to scold the laziness of the other member but when he gets there the man is already gone.
Takashi_Angery-1.png

Disrespectful
But Takashi does not have time to think about him anymore and closes his door before he walks away. In silence, he walks through the barracks towards the exit and not a word leaves his mouth. Once he passes the exit from the barracks, Takashi leans forward and would fade away from sight, leaving no trace of his presence. By using Shunpo Takashi heads straight towards the Senkaimon to start his duty as a gatekeeper. It does not take long for him to arrive at the place where he is met by two members of the Kidō Corps that are waiting for him and the other gatekeeper to take over the job.
Kneeling_Takashi-1-1.png

I'm Takashi Kiyoshi the 6th seat of the 5th division and I have been assigned to be one of the two gatekeepers today, sorry it took time for me to arrive here.
The two gatekeepers who are already there nods and both of them look happy to be replaced and get some rest. To Takashi the guard did not seem to be like an exhausting task but at least he knows that it will be safe when he is there.

With little to no rest, at this point, running on fumes, the Oki woman seeks out to achieve the final mission Commander Murasaki leaves her with. The election of the new Central Forty-Six. While the First and Sixth Divisions cooperate for the investigation, and relying on the talents of Shusuke Kiyoshi, The Head Lieutenant had gatherings organized with the help of Seventh Division in the Rukongai districts. Here it is where the masses become informed of their new duty to decide amongst themselves newly elected representatives, chosen to benefit the communities. While she does not attend herself personally, but instead sends an emissary to relay this message, the citizens become aware of the severity of this task. Some are quick to throw their name in the ballot, mostly for their own gain, but some come highly recommended. These "elections" carry on for days, several in fact, as bickering and tensions increase all in an effort to hold office, especially in the higher numbered districts. Lowered numbered districts, in other words, the privileged, seem to be quick to decide. Perhaps they are more organized. Even Honoka, is surprised at such quick responses by the people. Almost as if they had long waited for such an opportunity. This time, the central council is not kept secret, while they are protected, they are true public servants, and they will answer accordingly.
The Oki woman is pleasantly surprised to find out that two of her of clanswomen become elected into the central council. Not truly shocking, as the Oki, while previously seen as a lower noble clan, have been amounting wealth and prestige through the entirety of the Soul Society. While those seeking to join the ranks of the Gotei 13, those that do not, work and live in the rukon districts, growing the majority of the fruits and vegetables they eat, the herbs used for medicine and powders, and the trees used for the handles of swords. Their versatility opens them many doors, and Honoka's mother, Naoki, seeks to further their status, after all, in her eyes, the Oki provide much to the Seireitei and Soul Society as a whole. To the Oki Matriarch, it is only just that her family and their hard work is rightfully compensated.
With names of candidates piling up, she requests additional help of Second, Sixth, and Ninth to run thorough background checks on the candidates to ensure a fair and honest representative to the council. This makes quick work of weeding inadequate representatives. Their findings are presented to them, because through it all, the choice to take office is to help the communities and the people, not for self-satisfaction or greed. After all, that's precisely what lead them to the current situation.
The First Division barracks are unusually abuzz with shinigami, this is due to the on-going investigation spearheaded by Shusuke, in an effort to uncover the truth of what happened that day in the trial. Messengers entered and left the Head Lieutenant's office repeatedly, nonstop since that day, but on this day, she's not found in her office. Today, she has a meeting scheduled for all the lieutenants of the Gotei 13, and she's ready to debrief her fellow lieutenants, as well as inform them of the happenings since their last meeting.
The woman sits back in her chair, the stress prevalent on her face. Lines that would have quickly faded upon recovery sleep, linger still, adding years to the beauty's face. Even the headaches come more frequently, more intensely. Before her, tea readily awaits her. She pours herself the steamy herbal drink, infused with herbs and petals grown by her, and mixed in to help alleviate her fatigue. After all, it had been days, if not over a week since she managed to get a good night's sleep. Thoughts and worries constantly riddling her mind of tasks left to do, needing resolutions. She lightly blows on the sweet smelling liquid, cooling it down just enough to where the heat of the tea does not scald her tongue on contact. She closes her eyes, savoring the taste of the tea, before passing it. Carefully, she places the half empty cup back on the desk, with her middle fingertip lingering on the edge, until it slowly begins to trace the rim. She rests her head on the chair as she closes her eyes, sighing deeply. She opens her eyes once again, returning to what has kept her endlessly busy, so deeply engrossed in her piles of paperwork, that even her most watchful eye overlooks her younger cousin's covert attempt at entering the crime scene in pursuit of his own agenda. She is no fool, and assigned the area's security to the very capable hands of sixth seat, Akarui Gekko, days ago.
As she reads a detailed report of happenings submitted earlier by third seats in absence of Lieutenants, the exhaustion creeps in, and her eyes slowly close. Her head supported by her right hand at the temple, with her elbow on the table, she's perfectly balanced that even now, as the heavy sleepiness overwhelms her, she does not slip and slam her face on the table. No, she sleeps perfectly still, to others, entering the room, it would seem as if she was deep in thought, contemplating solutions to the many problems riddling the Seireitei. Though asleep, her senses still function, at the very least the most basic ones, ready to alert her of any danger or even animosity within her barracks. She can hear the footsteps of those in the immediate vicinity, but it is not enough to stir her awake, even as some come closer, and even enter the room, she doesn't budge. The minutes appear infinite to her. A dreamless sleep, she relishes in the silenced thoughts.
It isn't until she hears the hushed arguing in the Lieutenant's hall that she awakens from her light slumber. Some take a seat quietly, careful not to startle her, while others bicker, moving chairs, trying to sit beside another. The numerical sequence of the chairs ruined by the whims of the younger subordinates and their favoritism. Not exactly innocent of it herself, she'd simply been lucky that Yasu was in second division. The chairs, while not numbered, still held an identifiable quality to their respective division. The upholstery was done in their respective colors. Her eyes remain closed, leaving those around her to question if she was deep in thought, or actually asleep. It isn't until she senses the final participant enter the threshold that she finally decides to greet everyone.

"Thank you everyone that is able to be here today. I'm aware we missed our chance to have a meeting when the Captains held their own, which is usually when we hold ours, but I'm certain everyone had far more urgent matters to attend to." She stands, and gestures to the recently promoted lieutenants, "We also do have some new faces joining us. Let's try our best to make them feel welcome. They've worked hard to earn their promotion!"
