A thud, he felt it, pressure against his opponents limb. In that same instant however, Darkness clouded Kiku. He had heard the thud of Shusuke's zan hitting a tree and then something clattering to the ground. Regardless, Kiku had spent too much time training against this kind of thing. He immediately held his breath. Then, the sound of something cutting the air, Kiku's keen hearing picking up that he was about to get swung on. He needed to move. He couldn't, His body was in momentum from landing the kick, and the counter attack meant his enemy braced that as well. Impressive, Kiku was truly about to get stabbed. If only his left foot could kick off the ground, he would be able to Shunpo up into the air above the fog of darkness. The blade was nearing Kiku, when suddenly the blade cut deep into the ground under Kiku's previous location.
Where did he go? How did he go?
Kiku's hands had instinctively brought his reverse blade Zanpakuto up against his torso, yet he was no longer about to be pinned to the end of Shusuke's own Zanpakuto. Kiku would look around and then realize he was roughly 25 feet above the plume of darkness, that was Shusuke's Zanpakuto. Kiku would glance at two large tree's stationed on either side of the field, without hesitation or notice, Kiku's Zanpakuto would spin around until it faced him parallel, Water spewing from it until it became a long staff, with a mop head.
" Soji (掃除, Clean)!
Akaname (垢嘗, Filth Licker)!

His right arm falling out of his top, revealing underneath his baggy clothing, a toned and muscular body, of a well trained individual. Kiku pondering in the moment, How did he get over here. Was this an ability of Shusuke's Zanpakuto? No, Why would his blade displace others. Kiku looked at his left hand with his lavender eyes. ' Did i just preform... No... I haven't seen anyone use that technique since... H I S time..' Kiku would shake this off for now, he was in the middle of a fight. This reconciling only taking a matter of seconds. Taking his left hand and pointing it at Shusuke's location in the darkness, Kiku's simple hand gesture would then create a single rod of glowing blue light. Pulsating with immense power. He would then fling it towards the giant sphere of mist.
The rod would fly at great speeds, closing the gap in a near instant as it is near impossible to dodge in close areas. The single rod targeting Kiku's last known location of Shusuke. However halfway through it's short flight, The single rod would explode into hundreds of rods. Blanketing the area even beyond that of the orb of smoke. This making the Bakudo even more impossible to avoid. Kiku would then spin his Shikai around and grip it with both hands, the Mop head preparing to absorb the smoke if it tracked him. His left hand still smoking from firing the Bakudō #62. Hyapporankan (百歩欄干, Hundred Steps Fence). " C'mon, Impress me. "

|"Again"|

Echoes of wooden steps bounce across the training facilities' walls. Pants, sweat, exhaustion took over two shinigami engaged in spar. It was morning, before trainees were due to report. Gorou had made it routine to hone his skill with fellow shinigami prior to scheduled training. They clash repeatedly, Gorou yelling |Again...Again...Again| whenever they seemed to reach a halt. "Again" started to be the only thing anyone at the academy could envision Gorou saying. He was usually self kept, but in battle his persistence was inimitable. His drive seems to be instinctive, for that Gorou has no clear reason for his dedication to growth. Every generation produces those who have extraordinary natural ability, and Gorou seemed to be one of those cases. His name started to spread around; having top percentile scores in almost every category is sure to grant you some popularity. Graduates were getting transferred to division constantly and Gorou knew that it was only a matter of time before his name would be called.
|"Let's go further"|
Gorou stops the spar for a brief moment. They had been practicing basic swordsmanship for some time and he felt it time to continue mastering his Zanpakuto. It was common for the few trainees that had achieved the Shikai technique to practice amongst each other. Gorou was the most skilled out of his peers with Shikai, but even he had much to improve. Gorou moved to the sky in a flash, well above the training ground. He formed reishi plates under his feet to keep him afloat. Closing his eyes, Gorou calmed his breathing in attempt to connect with his Zanpakuto. His spiritual pressure started to rise, but he was too fatigued to exert his maximum power. He extended his Zanpakuto horizontally as well as extending his left arm horizontally. His figure took the shape of a cross...or a bird if you may. The sun beamed on his back, causing his forward to be shadowed. His Zanpakuto started to dull, becoming refract-less to the sun's light. —Stalk—he spoke, though being so high up it was inaudible...Yōjinbukai. Gorou spoke Yōjinbukai's name, activating it and causing it to screech in power. A plethora of flowers began to gently float downwards to the training arena. In tune with his surroundings, Gorou listens...he allows the energy of the Seireitei swarm him. He begins to decipher each sound, visualizing each...The below shinigami's lungs inflating—deflating slowly as he catches his breath, the squads walking the local... —Crack! | Crack! | Crack!—. Gorou begins to hear an ominous shatter perforate his eardrum. It felt as if he was hearing the world itself be broken into pieces. Yōjinbukai began tremble, almost as if it wanted to be sealed. Gorou clinched his teeth as he allowed the waves of vibration surge through his body....
Ryan-Higen-Reiatsu.png

For only an instant, Gorou was able to visualize the source of said noise. He began to be overwhelmed with a thick coating of reiatsu. It felt as if the energy itself was calling to him. He drew weak, he was already fatigued from training and slowly began to faint. The reishi plates under his feet...shattered, the reiatsu feathers generated by Yōjinbukai...shatter and disperse. Gorou began to fall gently from the sky, similar to a feather. Yōjinbukai returns back to it's sealed state. —Slam—. Gorou falls on the training ground, slowly opening up his eyes; he slightly turns his head and glances into the distance. The shinigami that he had be sparring with rushed to his side. "Gorou! are you alright? what happened? its not like you to go down". Gorou slowly gets up, still staring into a seeming specific direction. "Im fine. We're done for now. lets rest before training".
|"Gorou Nagatomo!!"|
(An instructor enters the training arena)
|"You have personally selected to be brought up from the academy "|
|"Higen Kagayaki"|
Gorou interrupts the instructor and turns to leave the arena. He picks up Yōjinbukai and sheaths it then slowly began to walk towards the area that he had been glaring at for quite some time.
|"Umm...yes, Captain Kagayaki has requested you. An escort is read-"|
|"That wont be necessary. I know exactly where He is "|
Gorou continues his way towards the 10th division barracks. He ponders on how Higen's spiritual pressure was the one he was able to feel when there are a number of captains that reside here. Could it simply be from sheer will...was he powerful enough to subconsciously exert his spiritual pressure. Gorou strayed away from seeking answers that could never be understood at his current level. He decided to leave it alone, but it did provide him with some form of "goal". Whether that goal was achievable or not felt as if it wasn't up to him in the moment. Thoughts of an adolescent continued to hassle him as he neared the barracks. He had no trouble finding his way though the division and routing himself to the captain's office. He felt other spiritual pressures along his future captain's, but he didn't bother to do any more evaluations. upon reaching the office he chose not to enter. He was sure they were going to be able to feel his presence, if anything the captain would. He leaned on the wall outside, crossing his arms and tried to gain some form of rest.

”Hm...He’s fucken quick.” Shu thought to himself. Upon going to grasp his ankle and fling him to the side, the Shunkan just vanished from his sight with ever so sudden grace. Not a single trace of him remained in the steel cage, and he was found in slight perplexion. Where had he gone off to? Shusuke stayed on his guard of course but within the Shikai he was nowhere. Retracting the smoke into the handle that had fallen, he now clears the air of the black pollution and reveals the ever so vibrant sunlight that shimmered down upon the 6th Barracks. It also revealed something else, Kiku's airborne body ready to strike. He watched a long rod of light be thrown to his position, It soon snapped into three pieces, then six, then twelve and soon the numbers gathered in near hundreds. Thinking back to a technique he saw used against an opponent he had faced off against 100 years ago, the Captain of the Fourth Division, Yu Nakamoto. Taking his blade in both hands he starts raising his reiryoku to his hands and would attempt to emulate something he had only seen once.
Yellow energy being formed around the blade of En’enra, a sound starts to crackle from it, like small shots of condensed lightning. But he had no time to waste.
”Bakudo #63, Sajo Sabaku!”
Although not entirely the same maneuver or Kido, the principle remained, while Shusuke still doesn’t know how well of a swordsman Yu was or is, he knew his own capabilities and knew that he could emulate it just as he could. Taking his blade and whipping it upwards towards the incoming Bakudo into a yellow rope, he twirls his wrist ever so slightly to tilt the trajectory of the Bakudo, curving it to slam into all the rods of light shattering them to pieces! He would repeat this until only the last several remained airborne alone with Kiku himself. Shusuke quickly then plants his feet and sets up in another Iaido position, with his zanpakuto in his left hand, he calls yet another Kido.
”Hado, #63, Raikoho!”
He would then release his reiatsu in three small bursts to makes use of the Kido, slipping his blade from its scabbard, once again making little noise except for the metal clicking against the sheathe, Shususuke slashes the air and while it would seem nothing happened, he would then release a wide yellow slash of reiatsu. Wide in range and sharp as it looks soaring through the air with ever so prevalent speed and velocity. He would repeat this action by sheathing his sword quickly, and unleashing another yellow wave of concussive and razor sharp energy, and finally released one last one for good measure. All three are well aimed and timed to travel in no shorter than a meter distance from each other, shaped like a crescent moon wreathed in yellow lighting, and just as sharp as the weapon itself. It would sever any limb from Kiku’s body if he was not careful in his approach to dodge. The blasts would also knock him from the sky back down to the ground or into a cherry blossom tree nearby. He feared this may have been a little overboard with just what was supposed to be a spar but he was confident that Kiku would be alright to say the very least.

The captain weeds through the bulk of the papers still, finally getting some order amongst the mess. The papers on the floor stay there—insignificant—but the ones on the desk seem to serve a more apparent purpose. He separates them into two piles, and develops an organized system that would usually be foreign to the brute of a man. His office remained empty still, but an oncoming presence was soon to change that. Higen didn’t look up, budge, or even slightly change his posture upon Shizuka’s entrance, continuing the paperwork he would otherwise delegate to Fuyuko if he hadn’t felt bad from doing the same to her for weeks on end. The Third Seat’s steps were heavy and defined, his slender figure creeping in to cast a shadow against a far wall.
“You back?”
He pauses for a moment, finally looking up to stare at his lazy enforcer. Somehow, through all his time sleeping, he still managed to handle the tasks assigned to him. It was amazing, honestly.
“Hm. I suppose so. In fact…”
He gets up from his seated position at his desk, tapping the perfectly-ordered stack of papers against it before leaving the tower of parchment at its edge. Walking slowly over to Shizuka the floorboards began to creak from his weight, his gaze shifted downward—as usual—while he towered over his subordinate by a great deal.
“It’s good I have you here before Ryuga. If you don’t know already we are officially receiving two recruits today. One of which, is already here, in the barracks. That one specifically… is now your responsibility. He must be monitored, closely, and if things get out of hand…”
He stops momentarily, looking over his shoulder both ways.
Handle it.
Obviously the Captain didn’t mean anything grave, but he had grown to understand Izanagi’s potential for letting things get out of control. Higen was able to subdue the problem himself if need be but he was more than sure that Shizuka was equally capable.
“Oh and at some point—if possible—I wish for you to give him tips on communicating with his zanpakuto. He still wields an Asauchi.”
He pats Shizuka’s shoulder amply before a brief time passes allowing reply, after such Ryuga walks in near on-cue.
“Welcome back Captain! Chise told me that you wanted to see me?”
The rather rough voice was comforting, along with an odor reminiscent of Maho’s signature smell.
“Thank you, Ryuga. Ah yes. The two of you are here in preparation for a brief welcoming for our newly enlisted members. Both of which, could be present here at any given mo-
A blurb of spiritual energy comes into his spectrum, powerful but not overwhelming. In the same instance, it is somewhat familiar? Its presence grows closer, both Ryuga and Shizuka would be able to see the level of concentration upon the Captain’s face.
Closer
Closer
Closer

Here. The presence just outside his door seemed to not care if they were noticed, or just maybe, they wanted to be noticed? He’d stopped his explanation to Shizuka and Ryuga indefinitely, as today’s events would soon become self explanatory.
“Don’t be rude. How about you come join us…”
Higen-profile-2-resize.png

“…Gorou.”
He said more than loud enough for the youth to hear. Surely enough his officers’ eyes shifted to the door way, hardly knowing what to expect next.

The rods of light cascaded a gleaming reflection, glowering with immense light. As they rained as fast as lightning bolts, The Shinigami below him did something most notable. The male began by deactivating his Shikai, Removing the fog of battle he created, Then with out warning Shusuke lifted his own hand preparing to counter Kido with Kido. For a micro moment, Kiku's eyebrow raised. Was this Shusuke person as skilled with kido as Kiku? They both attended Shino Academy, It was no secret Kiku still retained top marks and setting records of merit and proficiency in Bakudo and Hakudo. Going as far enough to say he is one of the most mastered Kido users in the Seireitei, not in fifth division. " Hnn... "
The Shinigami known as Shusuke would fire Bakudo #63, Sajo Sabaku, however, He reacted so fast that he didn't preform a chant or strengthen the kido in anyway. Still, Shusuke managed to, change the structure of the Kido.
" Bakudo #63, Sajo Sabaku!"

Shusuke screamed, The light manifesting around his Zanpakuto and then outward, attempting to Block the core of the rods. Kiku was almost impressed. He couldn't ponder on it in the moment, but if he could. Kiku would come to the conclusion that, instead of being a skilled craft. Shusuke was acting on survival instinct. It was impressive improvisation but, in a test of skill, Kiku was leagues above sudden reactions. Kiku's Bakudo #62 Hyapporankan would continue to multiply, The assumption of Shusuke blocking nearly a hundred was drowned in Kiku's pure mastery of Kido. The doubling upon themselves over and over until nearly four hundred rods were swarming over his attempted defense.

With each duplication they grew not only in number, but also in speed. Sheering through his nearly completed Bakudo #63, Sajo Sabaku. The rope would stop a few at first, then quickly become overwhelmed. The would then pierce through Shusuke, forcing him across the field and to the tree on the left, Kiku had pointed out before. There, pinned upon the large cherry blossom tree, Shusuke was held by no more than sixty three rods shimmering and thrumming violently in a blue-white glowing pulse of energy. Kiku would then drop to the ground and seal his Zanpakuto. Walking over to see Shusuke's limbs each spread out with his head facing straight, Ten rods in each. with another ten making a large cross through his torso. He wouldn't feel any pain from this unless he fought the binding. Walking over to where Akarui was, Kiku would smile and sigh.
" Ready to go Ruirui-chan? I could go for five servings of lunch, right about now. " His sloth like demeanor returning instantly. Walking over to the gate and preparing to leave, Kiku would sheath his Zanpakuto and look over to Shusuke. " It was a good fight until you tried attempted something you weren't proficient in. However, The way you instinctively reacted by changing the formation of the Kido. Don't Loose that, That might come in handy some day. " Kiku would then look away and head on through the gate. The janitor was done working today, and he had a long walk home. Surely to be scolded by Akarui.
His feet would take him down the long road of the Kuchiki Manor complex. Now that the entire manor was destroyed, there was nothing but a massive area in the Soul Society. Like a piece of it was missing. The sun was nearing mid day now, and some clouds were starting to hide on the other side of Seireitei. Kiku would let out a small sigh as he walked and then become saddened that he wont be able to nap under the clouds after lunch. Speaking of Lunch, what were he and Rui gonna eat today. They didn't bring anything from their barracks to his knowledge, and nothing was near on this massive compound. Putting his hands behind his head as if he were laying down while walking. Kiku would then remember the giant Koi fish in the ponds on these very grounds.
d2f1f660df0a1567533b0b100ac68e67.gif

He would then look over to Rui and ask; " Hey, You feeling fish for lunch? The Manor is destroyed and those massive golden fish are probably gonna die anyway. Wanna... Fry some?" Kiku would lazily fold his hands in his sleeves as he asked the question.
