Rukongai ———————————— traveling to ———————————— Southwest Seireitei
The walk back from the Rukongai was longer than what it was than when he had left with the two other First Division members who had gone back to their own barracks to report from the task that they had performed at his division. He delayed the walk somewhat, trying to imagine what he should say to the other members of Sixth. Shirogane, former Third Seat of the squad was the de-facto leader with their rudderless steering without a proper Captain. Although he had leadership capabilities, his mind was clouded by dark thoughts and thus felt necessary to act against the Seireitei and even potentially as far as plotting against the Soul Society. Going as far as manipulating Central 46 with his position as false Kuchiki Clan head. Slaughtering them all to reach his own goals and make his own dividends.
It was no secret Shusuke had no love for him in the squad. They were around the same age but he was his senior at the time of his arrival into the Division. The two immediately butted heads and even went as far as nearly crossing blades in the middle of the courtyard in front of many witnesses. Despite this however, they made an interesting team when in the field as their both combined intelligences can feed off of the other and confound the enemy into complete surrender. All the while, one is trying to outdo the other at the same time. They shared a complicated relationship for sure, but as his superior Shusuke always respected him to that small degree, but nothing more. Now that he was gone and he received his promotion, it was time for him to step up and re-shape the division into the model division it once was. The perception was now similar if not worse than Second’.
They were no assassins, they were elite Shinigami with no disrespect to the talented members of that Division however Shusuke truly found a home in the Sixth Division, memorizing the regulations of the Soul Society. He has helped police the laws of the Seireitei for what would seem to be One hundred years now, with a high rate of catching the criminals that go awry within the Gotei 13. He felt it was his duty as a Soul Reaper, as they all went through the academy and learned what it took to be a Shinigami. It was shameful with the amount of people who had forgotten the laws once they graduated and became an officer, within twenty years they’d have forgotten rules one through them all. No. This wasn’t the way and he intended to remind his members hoping that they had not forgotten either.
Upon reaching the gate he was sussed out by an unseated member of Sixth, calling himself Shusuke’ friend but in all actuality he really thinks he's a pest. Rolling his eyes he walks past Kazama without giving him a lingering look.
”What, you’re just gonna walk past me like that Shu? I wanted to know what the deal was with this meeting. What’s up, Mac?”
Shusuke stops walking and looks back at Kazama Tekichi, unseated member of Sixth Division and the bane of Shusuke’s existence. The look of boredom and annoyance on his face couldn’t be explained, he stood there and eyed Tekichi up and down with his purple globes.
”....What did I say about calling me that? You want En’enra to give you nightmares Tekichi? ugh….Y’know what I don't have the energy. Just get your ass to the meeting.”
And with that he turned on his heel and continued walking off to the hall, with Kazama right behind him badgering him with more questions. As the two would walk into the halls of the barracks, the other members were all swarming in and some followed along with Shusuke and greeted him as they passed by, he wasn’t the most popular, but he was liked well enough. The others felt a certain way towards him when he attempted to become Captain many years ago, and upon his failure wished for a potentially worse fate. He ignored them however, never stopping his stride in the search of excellence. He now had several men following behind him including Tekichi, it was odd. Having men at his back, but it felt good. Great even. However that time would pass as he would now reach the inner chambers of the division, the Great Hall. lined with many seats and for those who would not benefit they could stand as there was plenty of space to fit 500 men and women at arms. The space was shaped like a university classroom, a pedestal of sorts at the base but the hall was in a sconce formation as the memers eased themselves into the aisles and sat down before the meeting.
Shusuke filed down the bottom and Tekichi was right behind him in the first row to look Shusuke in his face the entire time of the meeting. His ugly mug would be hard to NOT[ look at while he's trying to address everyone. But He’ll have to muddle through some way or another. After about another five minutes, the remaining members walked in and made themselves as comfortable as possible. It was odd seeing the entire squad like this, with him at the center of attention. He didn't know that many of them would heed the call like this, maybe he had more sway around here than he had assumed. He lowered his hood and relieved himself of his white cloak as he tossed it into the face of Kazama, much to his dismay.
Shusuke would clap his hands together to get the chatter to die down, a sound boomed throughout the room, silencing all conversation and acquiring all attention.
”Thanks for coming. I'm going to get to the point and just lay it all out. The rumors about Shirogane Kuchiki are true. As we all know, he manipulated certain events that led to his death in the Rukongai, and the re-birth of certain individuals who now work within the Gotei 13. This being said, Our reputation as a LAW ABIDING is at stake now. This is now two divisions that are seemingly turn cloaks and backstabbers.”
At this point he started to pace back and forth, feeling the truth in his words.
”As your new Third Seat, I won't allow it. As a law-abiding Shinigami, I won't allow it. For the rest of you to be seen as lesser men and women than yourselves, I will not allow it. Conduct yourselves in a just manner going forth, never turn your nose to another but make then know where you stand. You’re the Sixth Division, Cobalt Blue and proud. Show the Gotei 13 that we still stand as one of its upper echelon squads and that we don't back down to anyone. When you leave this hall today, resume your tasks and assignments, execute for excellence and above all. Do not back stab anyone in this room. That is all.”
He walked off of the stage and sat in a chair off to the side after receiving a small ovation from his peers, with a few even coming up to him to thank him for the empowering statement. He felt no different, he believed in what he was saying but it was now time to act on it. Kazama came over and delivered his cloak to him and gave him a fist bump in respect for his superior. This made Shu smile and he bumped him back, sending Kazama away to go do his duties. He now sat alone in the hall. Looking up at the ceiling, pondering the possibilities beyond him.
