Notable Features: Zhou is six feet tall. When he was younger, he was unnaturally unnoticed and not paid attention to due to his height alone, not needing to mask himself to the extent that his previous captain does. Upon first glance, though past his greyish blue eyes, lies a vast emptiness that most would find disturbing. Donning a poker face and bearing unapproachable mannerisms, most tend not to engage Zhou in conversation. Dark blue hair, a noticeable trait within the Fēng clan, hangs over his head as his skin has a keen apricot hue. He is generally seen wearing an altered Shinigami uniform to fit his fighting style. His body is rather toned, detailed, and etched with carefully sculpted muscle that is proof of his rigorous training.

Personality: Throughout Zhou’s life, Zhou went through multiple changes that shaped the Shinigami that he is today. As a child, Zhou had multiple expectations from his parents which caused Zhou’s social growth to be heavily stunted. Displaying emotion and being friendly isn’t something that Zhou learned during his youth. Instead, amiable traits were something that he saw but rarely partook in. Needless to say, Zhou was a loner, spending time honing his skills and abilities rather than being around souls his age. Even to this day, Zhou has a poker face and is mostly seen as unreadable. Zhou is rather straight-forward and direct, rarely holding his tongue if he’s asked to give an opinion, no matter how sensitive the situation is. Although Zhou has a strong sense of duty and cares about his family’s honor. Most of what he strives to accomplish has to do with making sure that his clan is not tarnished in the slightest by his actions. Almost like a molded figure, Zhou attempts to be what his clan and his superiors designed for him to be. Zhou is rather intelligent, taking solace in activities like cleaning and cooking as they are straight-forward tasks and have an organized structure about them. Zhou can’t stand being in a place of disarray, and wouldn’t mind taking his off-day cleaning the entire barracks if it meant that filth was nowhere near him.

Growing up, Zhou was awkward, tending to do most tasks by himself, (a way of life that carries on even to this very day), but darkness flooded Zhou once he had begun taking tasks while being in the Onmitsukidō. Rather than seeing himself as an individual, he saw himself as a tool. Sure, previously he knew exactly how important it was for him to obey authority, but at the very least he had some semblance of individuality. With the underlying darkness that dwelled within the Onmitsukidō, one relied on success to a much greater extent and Zhou was not exempt. Even he swiftly learned that treading over fallen comrades was what was expected of him. Still, Zhou felt empathy for his fallen comrades -- even feeling physical sickness in some instances due to their demise. There were days Zhou regretted listening to his mother and father, but the chains of responsibility in the form of his clan, the Gotei 13, and the Onmitsukidō bound him and dragged him from one place to the next. Symptoms of survivor's guilt began to show, and Zhou placed all his efforts into being the tool that everyone he held dear desired him to be. Zhou was hurting, but he did not understand how to display these emotions nor was he allowed to. Just as he performed as a child, he placed his emotions into his craft.

The most dynamic change in Zhou came from his time in the PIT. Here, the trainer brought multiple emotions buried within Zhou to the surface, manipulated them, and continued to twist and contort Zhou's perspective. With the amount of physical, mental, and emotional pain he endured, Zhou was broken after the years of perpetual punishment. After all of the years of struggling to be the model society had designed for him, he was met with this training as his reward. At first, his anger was targeted toward his trainer, then it manifested to the entirety of the Onmitsukidō. Soon enough, the blistering hatred for the entirety of the Seireitei blossomed with the lingering question, “Why should I have to endure this for the sake of people that I will never meet [humans]?” His anger continued to grow, like a disease outstretching to every trainer that entered into the PIT for training. Whether it was jealousy for not having to endure such a struggle, the people who assisted in his decisions towards being in the Onmitsukidō, or for those responsible for his torture, Zhou felt immense hatred. He wanted nothing more than to destroy the very foundation that his life stood on. His anger swelled and swelled until finally, negative emotions were soon directed towards him. Soon, it all boiled down to, just as the other examinees of the PIT, wanting to die.

When Zhou subconsciously activated his Shikai, he also subconsciously locked away those feelings. Sealing them away allowed him to not only pass the intense training regiment, but he was also able to become stronger in some ways. Not being bound to different empathetic weaknesses, for example, survivor's guilt, allowed for him to become a perfect soldier. He no longer felt pain the way it was meant to be perceived. He no longer felt fear. His dreams and aspirations were buried alongside the negativity. In his mind, they were all of the same category -- unnecessary and unwarranted. With these very important parts of him locked away, he was able to be what his parents, trainers, and his leaders wanted him to be. Without being able to empathize with others, Zhou visualized everyone as "sacks of meat." Without a dream or vision, Zhou devoted himself to following commands without question or remorse -- minus the feelings he perceived concerning his training. He was able to attain the ability to torture without any of the side effects a moral person would. Without fear or pain, he had no value for his life and he devalued fun and pleasure. Desensitizing himself led to love, hatred, and concern for others to be watered-down and meaningless. The darkness that flooded within him took reign. At one point, Zhou didn't see the difference between slicing raw beef for dinner and the soul he had killed an hour before that. Zhou didn't know how to feel about the stark difference he had made within his training. With fear and pain subsiding, so did his resentment.

From fighting to discerning situations, Zhou can make decisions leading to beneficial outcomes most of the time. Although he was capable of making sound decisions, following orders led to him doing several things on primitive levels. He is very professional and is rarely seen partaking in immature activities. He displays a high level of maturity and keeps a level, rational head despite what is going on around him. Zhou is also one that would rather do missions by himself rather than having to rely on others. Due to his strict training, he often feels like there are potential factors that would limit him from being able to perform his very best -- those factors being incompetent subordinates. Zhou also doesn’t have trust for anyone, he stakes his claim in the law of the land and will do what is best for the land that he has given up emotions for. With a corrupted moral compass weighing in favor of direction and order, Zhou has a keen dislike for any-and-all things having to do with hollows, disruption of balance within the Seireitei or the human world, and anything of that nature. It is rare for Zhou to get angry or even have a strong opinion on multiple manners. As he’d rather watch and listen, he doesn’t like divulging too much information about himself or his division. Being deemed as cold, straight-forward, and ruthless with his mannerisms, he tended to fit right in along with the second division's dynamic.

Time passed, more specifically, one hundred years. During this time, Zhou’s personality blossomed more, but the weight of his own self-inflicted “blessing” continued to haunt him. Learning a lot from the once lieutenant, now Captain Yasu, Zhou took a lot of his time developing himself, but he still has a long way to go before facing the entirety of his fears and becoming more of a Shinigami rather than a tool. Zhou is still direct, apathetic, and still has his cold demeanor, but now one can see at the very least a smirk from the male now and then. Zhou is more open than he was before, beginning to speak his mind rather than holding his thoughts, passions, and emotions on the inside. He has become more confident and can hold a conversation rather than simply being a one-dimensional stone. Each day, each interaction and each decision affects Zhou differently than the average Shinigami, having an impact on his overall self. Continuing to be shaped and molded, Zhou finds more and more of himself, growing not only in strength but in spirit.

A number of events happened within the passing months. With Zhou growing with event after event, Zhou’s very self began to be more evident. With already being direct, Zhou had more of an aloof nature to him in regards to relationships and what he genuinely meant to people, but he was more prone to engaging with people. He has now shown the ability to have a conversation about something other than work and he’s able to actually display facial emotions. Zhou’s usually more laid back, but has taken a liking to The Clown’s antics. With this, Zhou usually has more of a sadistic nature to him, and derives pleasure from causing some form of mischief – although his mischief is nothing comparable to that of Asahi’s. Usually, Zhou can be found honing his skills when he’s not running errands for Honoka. Despite his respect for authority, Zhou sometimes gives a smart remark when he’s told something he doesn’t want to do – showing just how much he’s blossomed over the given time. Zhou is usually blunt and brutally honest, not sparing one’s feelings in the slightest despite how much he understands how much it might hurt others. Despite how much he has grown, there are times where his automatonic vibe still lingers – but at the very least, one can see those scarred lips crack a smirk.

Relatives: He is a member of the Fēng clan.

Reiryoku Level: Great Spiritual Power ——— Sensing Reiryoku: Expert

Unlike most exceptionally gifted individuals, Zhou’s spiritual power wasn’t menacing from birth. There was absolutely nothing that stood out about his overall power. With this, his mother and father thought that it was best to hone his physical abilities to assure a successful future for their son. With the concept that even a small stream can become a mighty river, Zhou’s power swelled from consistently being placed in predicaments where his life was on the line -- where he had to overcome death time and time again. With his willpower maturing and growing, so did his Reiryoku. Within his time in the Onmitsukidō, his overall spiritual power was way more honed and refined in comparison to his days within the academy. Each time Zhou was placed in a position where he had to make a decision that changed his life, Zhou noticed an incredible inner change within him. As he is a constantly growing and evolving individual, one could say that his current level is merely a tease for his true inner strength.

Due to Zhou’s time in Onmitsukidō, one of the various training methods he was taught was sensing Reiryoku. Being aware of the subtle differences in his surroundings as well as picking up even the smallest of hints that there is someone in his midst is something that he was forced to hone even when taking the test to be a part of such a prestigious group. Constantly being tested and driven to tell where an enemy was, even having to give somewhat of a precise location was something done daily to cultivate the Shinigami needed to not only protect their comrades but to ensure that any missions could be completed successfully. With his intelligence, natural ability to perform mundane tasks, and being somewhat of a perfectionist, this came rather easily to Zhou, even though he is not amongst the best sensors in the Seireitei. Zhou can pinpoint most specific locations where spiritual presence is detected, even when the pressure is being subdued.

Reiryoku Control: Great Control

Akin to his training in the Onmitsukidō revolving around the ability to sense Reiryoku, Zhou was forced into learning how to manipulate his Reiryoku to be hidden as well as to emerge when it was ultimately needed. Just like his Zanpakutō, his Reiryoku was indeed a weapon that constantly needed to be trained and polished to survive in the harsh environments he was currently engaged in. Being naturally talented, Zhou was able to have a fine grip on his ability to control his spiritual power to the point where one could even question if Zhou was anything -- if he was even there, but just as quickly, use that same power to defend or increase his overall attack power without any sort of hesitation – as if his reiryoku were another part of his body. One could look at him, and not even know he was around. Although his skills were not honed in areas such as Kido, his abilities blossomed involving the ability to stay hidden and utilize his Zanpakutō’s abilities to a high degree, using minimal spiritual power for worthwhile results. Zhou tends to conserve his reiryoku, but has the ability to continue focusing and building up his power in order to unleash greater attacks – the only drawback being the amount of time needed for a grandiose spiritual technique in order to usually combat those of greater spiritual power than he.

Reiatsu: Expert

Zhou’s reiatsu is symbolic of his personality. From the very hue to its shape, the spiritual pressure is rather dense, dark, and heavy. Due to the number of burdens that he has faced in the previous years, the number of explicit missions where numerous comrades have died, and the expectations that consistently weigh on him can be witnessed through the amount of pressure he exerts when his Reiatsu is seen or used.

Zhou can exert his spiritual pressure for a surplus of uses, rising and falling faster than eyesight can even comprehend. Zhou’s reiatsu is unique as even if it’s displayed, there’s no way to truly tell its intent. There’s no fear, no hatred, or no killing intent whenever his reiatsu is exerted. This is because his will coincides with duty. There’s no malice or intent, making his very power and presence questionable. Even to experienced beings that aren’t Shinigami, one can tell that Zhou’s reiatsu carries no evil or ill-will within it. The pure resolve to solely keep organization and order is the feeling his spiritual pressure generates. With this, Zhou’s reiatsu, even though it can be blatantly exerted, one would more than likely not feel threatened even if their reiatsu isn’t on par with his own. Instead, it’s almost a fickle trick that could ensnare prey to their doom.

Lock Down

At first, Zhou’s reiatsu was simply malleable pressure that fluctuated with uses in ways Reiatsu was previously used for. Being trained and honed as an assassin, his spiritual pressure sharpened to the degree of amplifying lethal attacks, or to be used in some defensive countermeasure. With time passing, and Zhou discovering more of himself, shaking and rattling the very metaphorical chains that ensnared his true self, Zhou’s reiatsu has the ability to affect the environment around him, by literally “locking space.” This concept is a new development, but the overall control with Zhou’s spiritual pressure is not. Since Zhou spent a number of years training and honing his overall control of his reiatsu, utilizing the ability to manipulate the environment instead was an easy task to do. Just like Zhou is able to mask his pressure at a moment’s notice, Zhou’s spiritual pressure is able to span out over vast distances with ease. When this occurs, the space around any given thing can become what one can describe as solidified. There is no visual cue, or anything other than the feeling of Zhou’s reiatsu. With the possibility of this being used as a means for capturing a given thing, this ability also has a means of defense – Zhou able to affect the space around him to form invisible barriers that can be used to halt attacks of any kind.

Zanjutsu Level: Expert Swordsman ——— Hohō Level: Shunpo Master

Zhou has a firm grasp on how to utilize his weapon to accommodate his overall fighting style. Within his duration within the second division, he had extensive training which led to experience being one with his weapon. Maturing from a simplistic state of simply seeing the blade as a weapon itself, Zhou is one with his blade. With this knowledge, his abilities are rather formidable. He can utilize his overall natural speed, and even his height to pull off rather quick attacks, building his momentum and kinetic energy for devastating techniques such as rotating himself in a circular motion while reverse gripping his Zanpakutō to attack, defend, and move all in one motion – able to practically become a swirling blur in one’s vision. After significant time and training with his Zanpakuto, Zhou became more adept at using his weapon, with one hundred years to train, his swordsmanship grew to the point of being able to use his weapon to readjust, attack, defend parry, and block in order to perform tasks that he used to only rely on speed for due to his weaker composition. With his older and stronger body, Zhou is able to use his strength and speed to move his weapon with the ability to remove any part of a given body with ease.

Zhou’s speed is probably one of the reasons why he was able to survive as long as he did. With just how naturally fast he is, Zhou can utilize Shunpo to a high degree. Being trained with weights on his body was the first step, consistently bearing down on such a small frame to build muscle and endurance, in turn, Zhou’s speed was consistently improving on a day-to-day basis. Zhou can move great distances utilizing only one leg rather than both and is even hard to detect with the natural or spiritual eye. Even standing still in one instance could mean life or death for an opponent due to just how fast Zhou’s body can move from one point to the other by simply generating an afterimage of him standing in the previous spot. Zhou’s ability to force his body to go from 0 to 100 is what makes his fighting style and his overall lethality wanted by the Second Division.

Zhou’s reaction speed is another ability to take note of. Zhou’s able to consistently move, readjust, and dodge given attacks even when he seems to be in a dire situation. Being able to dodge close calls is something that most would deem as luck, but when it happens repeatedly, especially in the case with someone as small as Zhou, it can be seen as a testament to his ability. With this ability, it tends to trigger a number of his opponents, especially those that tend to use their size against him. Honing his reaction time, Zhou’s able to fool most enemies into believing that they caused some sort of damage to him, only for his true ability to shine that much more.

At a normal pace, Zhou’s able to move from a genuflect, into appearing to fade from existence without even a slight change in demeanor, only to appear in an entirely different area miles away in what would seem to be a blink of an eye. Even when he’s trying to slow down for others to keep an out for him, the very air around his body bends to his will, forcing it into submission as gravity itself cannot restrict him from moving at such uncanny speeds. Zhou can move across the surface of any liquid, and his shadowless movements are simply some of the benefits of being able to access such tremendous speeds. Being able to appear standing in one spot, but already be within striking distance, strike, and appear not even moving to the naked eye is just one of the nifty tricks he can utilize due to his ability with Shunpo.

Zhou can utilize two of the three known Hohō techniques at an elite level, him able to generate multiple speed clones. Being able to move from one clone to the next at speeds incomprehensible to the natural eye, he almost appears to be able to strike an opponent in nine different locations simultaneously -- displaying his overall prowess with only nine copies of himself. With Utusemi, Zhou displays effortlessly how to deceive opponents into believing they had struck the blue-haired individual. The visual is so real that it practically forces someone's senses to fully accept that they had landed whatever attack they originally intended for him, only for them to be blindsided by one of his many attacks.

Known Techniques: Speed Clones, Utsusemi

Hakuda Level: Master Hakuda Combatant ——— Kido Skill Level: Kidō Specialist

Physically, Zhou was at a tremendous disadvantage when it came down to hand-to-hand combat. With being so short and having a lack of reach, one might assume that Zhou is the typical punching bag or the subject that was bullied for an extended time. In most cases, one would be right about someone appearing so short and potentially defenseless, but in Zhou's case, it is far from the truth. Growing up, Zhou's training consisted of honing his body to a high level, continuously pushing his body to stomach-turning limits for a soul his age. Everything Zhou possessed, he worked for. In this instance, Zhou practiced in a number of different climates, honing a style that he created to perfectly suit him due to his size. This fighting style known as Wave Kata consists of two main points that gave Zhou the advantage in a number of fights, allowing for his small appearance to fool anyone. Practicing in water and on trees, Zhou spent the day in and day out perfecting his overall skill. The full potential Zhou exemplifies comes from dealing with physically stronger opponents.

The fighting style that Zhou created relies on speed, momentum, and the ability to read others to a high degree, causing this methodology of fighting to suit him quite well, especially with his training. Zhou’s fighting style bears no stance, instead, it’s based on being able to rapidly adjust his build to suit the situation at hand. Zhou’s skill extends to using every single part of his body, muscle, and appendage, to fight to the fullest degree. Although waiting to strike is the preferred strategy, and blocking is not what he usually utilizes, Zhou’s fighting style has not been seen and heard of throughout the Soul Society, instead, it’s a rather new, and ever-evolving style due to the different fighting styles that he will face. Having to constantly change and adjust causes this style to not only be difficult but can seem unreliable. Zhou utilizes his Hakuda to not only overcome this challenge, but be able to fight against all types of fighters -- Zanjutsu-based, Kidō-based, and Hakuda based.

Due to the amount of time of rigorous training, Zhou’s physical ability extends to being able to fight while unconscious. His body can naturally react, and utilize his destructive style all while he is unconscious of what is going on around him. This goes in tandem with his ability to sense Reiryoku as well as the overall tenacity Zhou possesses.

With one hundred years passing, Zhou’s body grew to the point where he literally no longer had to only rely on utilizing speed and momentum in order to fight against others. With his growth, Zhou’s own physical strength and durability did too. Regardless of his growth, his Wave Kata only grew from there. With being presented with a challenge from his Elder before, Zhou decided to take the time to truly learn the extent of his body, and what it truly meant to be a Hand-to-Hand combat master. Although his skills were great, there was still room for development and improvement as there always was. At first, Zhou’s solution was to learn Shunkō, pushing his very body to the limit, following the route that Soi Fēng did. Rather than expound upon his abilities using something such as Kido, Zhou elected to take a route that no one else could travel – something that only he could do: Wave Kata.

At first, Wave Kata only extended to manipulating momentum in order to use vibrations to cause a significant amount of internal damage. Well, with Zhou’s skills progressing in the manner that they were, on par with his own knowledge of his body, Zhou began to take this practice, theorize its limits, and test the limits thereof. The results came with brutalistically disgusting results. The first step of this was Zhou literally training his breathing – him able to utilize oxygen within his body and take full and utter control of his breathing to the point where his strength, stamina, mental processes, and even his speed, skyrocketed. Although his training in breathing was done to some degree, Zhou learned to control his breathing without even thinking about it, boosting his already powerful physical and mental prowess. This breathing also recuperates the body, allowing for things such as muscle fatigue, potential cramps, and damage to his body to be healed faster due to the overdrive his body is going through. The second part of his training caused for Zhou literally to be able to control the rate of his heart beat. Although he hasn’t fully mastered this part of his training, Zhou can increase his heart’s cardiovascular output: forcing his blood to pump through his body at an immensely fast level. This causes Zhou's skin to turn red. This increase of blood moving through the body causes an increase of speed.

With both his breathing and his heart rate manipulation, the amount of power Zhou physically possesses is one that is rarely seen – the breathing not only strengthens his body, but rejuvenates it to the point where it greatly minimizes the drawbacks of manipulating his heart. Thus, Zhou’s Hakuda takes on a level that focuses solely on the body rather than utilizing any sort of Kido. When utilizing hakuda while utilizing this perfected form of breathing, Zhou can move his arms and legs that distorts space itself, literally causing for shockwaves and the such to tear terrains asunder, combat or even potentially destroy high level Kidō based applications, and even go as far as to vehemently decimate reishi constructs with little to no hesitation. With this power combined with Zhou’s fighting style, Zhou can send his vibrations through the air which can literally decimate even a reiryoku protected body with the immense force that is driven from each attack. With such precise, quick, and powerful movements, the very kinetic energy is forced to produce heat. This heat that Zhou can generate from using his body in such a fashion has the potential to cause third degree burns to his skin as it’s not a spiritually based emission – burning his clothing is literally what’s expected when this level of Hakuda is utilized. This heat can be felt from his long range attacks. With these feats, Zhou doesn’t have to touch someone with his body to cause damage. Instead, the effects of his body in motion can cause severe external damage due to the amount of speed and strength his body now utilizes. If it wasn’t for Zhou’s training, this increase of strength would consistently leave Zhou’s muscles torn and his bones, hence why training his breathing was a focal point of his training.

Zhou’s ability to use Kidō has not been trained and honed as much as his other abilities. Despite his lack of training in Kidō, Zhou has enough reiryoku control to perform a number of lower-level Kidō techniques with ease. Although one won’t see him performing techniques that would end someone’s career with a single invocation, he is a bakudo practitioner. Generally, his bakudo aids him with his hakuda style to complement his zanjutsu style. Zhou has to recite incantations to use the given techniques that he has already trained and honed. Zhou is also able to manipulate the Kidō he has learned now to alter the standard shape while upholding the strength of the technique. For instance, Hainawa’s bright, robust usual look can be more slender or even be altered to be as thin as strings on a violin.

Known Techniques: Wave Kata (See Below)

Known Spells: Kyokkō, Hōrin, Hainawa

Skills and Abilities:

Poison Aversion

During his training within the PIT along with other training in the Onmitsukidō, Zhou was forced to ingest and was injected with different poison. Overtime, Zhou grew an immunity for most known poisons within the Seireitei.

Interrogation Master

Being a subject of torture for a number of years in practically every way imaginable with the basis of physical, mental, and emotional torture being the lessons he was taught first hand. As someone from a somewhat disguised clan, (due to their notable reputation, pride, and even the distinguished legend Sui Fēng herself) Zhou was chosen to undergo training that every other trainee chosen for the training was unable to endure. With his experience being tortured, with time honing different techniques torturing others, and sealing away certain emotions hindering him from fully empathizing and sympathizing with others, he can fully utilize his explicit training to benefit the Seireitei.

Master of the Human Anatomy

Being taught to torture and being tortured others did have some merits. Upon learning more about his own body, Zhou learned every aspect of the spiritual body from mere subjects as pressure points, generic weak spots, bone structure, and generic density, where one bleeds out the fastest, what parts of the body triggers the most pain, the structure of the nervous system -- all of it.

High Perception

Zhou’s time in the torture division, as well as his time in his youth, allowed for him to read people to the utmost degree. He can see past the exterior shells and into their minds based on even minimal actions. Almost akin to his captain’s ability to read reiatsu, but a washed-down version thereof, Zhou can read people’s intentions, tell if one is lying, and point out and even predict character attributes just from appearance and spending less than one minute with that given character with near 100 percent accuracy. This also assists in fighting bouts as Zhou can predict different moves that may arise from a given opponent.

Flexibility and Master Acrobat

Zhou’s body can bend, contort, alter, and move, unlike most normal bodies. He can do simple tricks like lift either one of his legs above his head, and slam his heel down at immense speeds in the form of a guillotine kick, but just as simple as he’s able to do that, Zhou’s able to wiggle, and writhe out of the tightest of spaces, and perform a variety of speedy vaults, back-flips, and entertaining motions that assists him in normal experiences.

High-Level of Intelligence

Zhou’s ability to naturally adapt to his surroundings, come up with solutions to the most stressful of problems, and have keen insight into the world around him is proof of his intelligence. If speed is his left hand, his intelligence is his right hand. Although he tends to be rather silent and reclusive, he always has some sort of plan or idea. Zhou’s ability to retain and mentally process information is at genius levels, hence why he can learn different techniques and adjust quickly to situations. He is a master at chess, shogi, and counting cards, but will never brag about it.

Kunai

Zhou usually carries around four kunai on his person that holds poison coated on each blade to induce paralysis. These are standard kunai in weight, shape, width, and length.

Smoke Bombs

Zhou carries four smoke bombs on his person that induce coughing and can be rather poisonous to inhale. The poisonous effects include illusions, the inability to breathe due to the inflammation of the throat, and coughing up blood.

Signature Techniques:

Wave Kata
(波形 Lit. Wave Form) : A difficult style of fighting that relies on countering, positioning, speed, and precision. Utilizing Wave Kata is a skill that can't be observed and copied using the natural eye. The user minimizes their movements and focuses on openings and using their opponent's strength and speed against them. Wave Kata can be shown by forcibly using the opponent's momentum against themselves or tricking the opponent into thinking they made a successful attack through other visual or physical methods. Although this makes Wave Kata formidable, the true secret of Wave Kata is the ability to strike past objects, affecting what's inside of something and not the outside. By using powerful vibrations upon physical contact with a given object, the user can send vibrations to the innermost parts of the body, bypassing the outer layer. These vibrations vary in effect, but for the most part, the vibrations can cause contractions in certain areas, break bones, cause internal bleeding, all while the outside of the body remains unaffected. Wave Kata is a physical technique relying on pure skill, speed, and precision; it doesn't need Reiryoku to utilize.

Wave Kata: Mugen no Kokyū (波形: 無限の呼吸 Lit. Wave Form: Limitless Breathing):

This is the style of breathing that Zhou has created and honed to use subconsciously in order to drastically increase his body’s physical strength, rejuvenation, and speed, but also his mind’s thought processes (processing information, concentration, and even the speed in which his mind sends signals to the rest of his body.) – thus one’s overall fighting power.

Wave Kata: Akai Tsuki no Tōshi (波形: 赤い月の闘志 Lit. Fighting Spirit of the Blood Moon):

This technique created by Zhou manipulates one’s own heartbeat in order to increase the heart’s cardiovascular output – increasing one’s overall movement speed (velocity, acceleration, torque.). Blood flows through the body faster than what one normally would experience. This increase in blood flow results in the skin’s pigmentation to redden. This does not come without fault though as this technique manipulates heartbeat and blood flow, both potentially causing blood vessel damage, hemorrhaging, hallucinations, and heart failure. A single deep cut can potentially cause profuse bleeding while utilizing this technique.

Zanpakutō Name: Shujin Kagi (主人鍵) lit. “Master Key”

95b34ca43aeaef1c2b19880f68c56a42.png

Zanpakutō Appearance: In Shujin Kagi's sealed state, Shujin Kagi takes the form of a standard thin Chinese saber. The handle is 35 centimeters while the length of the blade is 55 centimeters. The width of the blade is around 5 centimeters at its widest. The silk wrap has a gray color, securely around the handle of the blade along with a gold butt-cap and guard.

In both instances, Shujin Kagi is worn on Zhou’s back, being diagonal as the sheath is attached to his clothing most of the time and has a blue exterior along with gold designs along the ends of the piece.

5b97261e0c99155f7e3501c393a59012.png

Zanpakutō Spirit: Shujin Kagi appears around her early thirties with small, eccentric eyebrows, perfect eyelashes, and a rather domineering look within her piercing eyes. Her hair hangs down the length of her back. She is usually wearing fine garments, but her outfit changes each time Zhou visits her. She has a golden hue that surrounds her as if she's emitting a radiant light. She is a female spirit appearing around the age of her early 30s. She is rather stubborn and is a kleptomaniac. She enjoys taking things away, seeing it as a game more so than anything. Whatever is "sealed", she has a firm grasp on, bounding up and taking hold thereof. She claims it as her own and praises Zhou for giving her a gift. She dislikes having what she took released from her, seeking to gain it back a majority of the time. When it comes to unsealing anything, Shujin Kagi can be upset with Zhou, as it seems as if she's giving something away instead of taking things. Even with her attitude, she abides by Zhou's request. She is a rather uptight, fickle key that has a strong disdain for those she sees as beneath her, but she has a warm spot for Zhou and will do what he requests from her. She does what she can to protect Zhou from hurting and Zhou believes that since he did not have material items growing up, she is a manifestation of his "wants and desires."

Inner World: Currently, Zhou's realm looks akin to a dark hallway bearing dim lighting with a surplus of doors on the left and right side of him. With a narrow passageway, each door reveals an important event or memory to him. At this point, the floor seems to grow longer with each step Zhou takes. There is a longing to go forward to complete a seemingly never-ending journey.

Release Phrase: "Open, Shujin Kagi."

21c229752250407a0f0a1afb8a65e279.png

Shikai: When in Shikai form, Shujin Kagi takes the appearance of a unique spear. The length of the pole is around 1.6 meters (~5.2 feet), and the blade is around 0.5 meters (~1.64 feet). The silk, seeming to carefully clothe the pole of the spear, mimics the hue of the sheath. The width of the blade extends to being as far as seven inches. The guard that is once simplistic and gold, changes its hue and form to that of a lock, becoming a little lighter in saturation, yet still retains a powerful appearance. Although the guard is seen on one side, the other side holds a navy blue wrapping akin to the spear’s pole.

Shikai Special Ability:
With Zhou's Shikai active, he holds the ability to seal and unseal the abstract, the physical, and the spiritual by striking (an) object(s) with his zanpakutō. Abstract concepts (such as emotions, potential, and memories) can be locked away or brought to the surface with his ability by pressing the hilt of his zanpakutō against the forehead of an individual. Physical aspects, i.e. the movement or usage of different parts of the body can be sealed by touching the body with his zanpakutō. More specifically, if Zhou's zanpakutō makes contact with a certain place on the body, the joint, muscle, or even limb can be subjected to being "locked"; The respective parts will be unable to move depending on the amount of reiryoku and the amount of concentration Zhou exerts. For instance, a mere finger could be grazed and if not enough reiryoku is placed into the attack, only the finger’s movement would be locked. With enough power, the entire arm or even body itself could be forced to remain stationary. Needless to say, this also depends on the amount of reiatsu exerted by the opponent at a given time or even the overall reiryoku of the opponent. The effects are ever-changing, forcing Zhou to constantly adapt to his unique ability.

Spiritual aspects, such as spiritual abilities (everything and all things revolving around reiryoku, reishi, or reiatsu) can be "sealed" if Zhou's zanpakutō connects with the given spiritual aspect. Although no one has lived to witness the feat, Zhou's ability with his Shikai can be assumed to lock away zanpakutō spirits themselves, thus halting their connection with their respective owners. This feat can be done by either continuously connecting with another zanpakutō, or by placing a seal on the zanpakutō.

All that is locked away bears a sealed marking in the shape of a lock. Invisible to all, but Zhou initially, Zhou can will the visibility for his victims. While his Shikai is active, he can seal and/or keep a given thing unsealed for as long as he wills it so, unless the individual(s) breaks through his seal(s) or forces whatever he unseals closed by exerting enough spiritual pressure, willing the lock or unlock to be released, or by sealing his zanpakutō.

Personal Relationships:

Honoka Oki:
With Honoka rising the ranks and becoming captain, Zhou tends to look after her, making sure that not only her work is properly done, but making sure the affairs of the Academy are in order. This is due to how laid back Honoka is concerning affairs at different points in time.

Asahi Kujiyashiki: Just as much of a problem as he’s a solution, Asahi is someone that Zhou has spent enough time with to understand that there may be something this gremlin is up to and keeps a keen eye on him from time to time. Zhou recognizes Asahi as an asset as both a teacher and a formidable seated member of the 3rd division.

Nana Nokoribi: One of his old teachers back at the Academy. With Nana fixated more towards Zanjutsu, there are times where the two bicker about which fighting style is better.

Born to emotionally devoid parents, Zhou grew up devoted to duty. The honor came from following instructions directly, with not an ounce of creativity. Even within his early youth, discipline was instilled in him. His mother's touch was as firm as his father's. Each directive given to Zhou was to be performed with the utmost perfection. There was no such thing as "going above and beyond." This concept brought about potentially destructive results. The command was either fulfilled or unfulfilled. With such black and white principles, there was no room for having a voice or opinion. Instead, his morality was morphed into what his superiors deemed to be moral. The "gut" feeling that one might have about a given instance was foreign. Even picking out casual attire was not in his arsenal. A soldier as such operated as a capable body, and his unique discipline was exemplified during his duration in the Shin'ō academy.

Despite being somewhat talented, nothing struck out in particular with Zhou. He made sure to always follow directives with the intent of perfection. Because of his ingrained obedience, he never displayed much of his personality. Due to his lack of enthusiasm and following orders as commanded, he never showed what kind of person blossomed underneath the stoic exterior. Displaying high levels of skills throughout his time at the academy brought Zhou to graduate right at the fifty-year mark. Upon graduation, though, he immediately was sent to face a challenge that his father and mother had trained him forever since he could remember -- The entrance exam for the Onmitsukidō.

When Zhou was a young soul, most endearing parents cared about the emotional side of raising their youth by giving their young affection. Instead of warm hugs, inspiring words, or even an ounce of concern for his well-being, Zhou repeatedly heard the words "Again”, “Faster”, or “I expect more tomorrow." With each passing day, Zhou's father made sure his body was honed, whereas Zhou's mother concerned herself with Zhou's mind. The two of them nurtured a warrior. To Zhou, their treatment was affection. When he was sent to take the test to be a member of the Onmitsukidō, Zhou too saw this as affection. The test was no easy feat, but regardless, Zhou was expected to pass the test. Trying did not exist. Both of his parents drilled into Zhou that failure was not an option. Being fully aware of what it meant to fail the test, Zhou passed, but in his mind only by sheer luck. As a member of a clan bearing a lower hierarchy, Zhou witnessed numerous members of clans of the same ranking as the Fēng clan fail the test. Instead of having pride in passing this test, he simply measured the feat as a responsibility he was created to do.

As a member of Onmitsukidō, Zhou was tasked with various missions. Some missions required simple surveillance. Others required heads to fly and blood to be shed. Nonetheless, Zhou completed every task that was required of him, without a single question or seemingly any regard. Years passed until finally Zhou was transferred to the Interrogation unit. Word had been spoken about the Fēng clan member who never failed a mission and survived even the harshest of trials. One higher-ranking member within the unit wanted to see Zhou's abilities for himself. Upon testing Zhou's physical, mental, and spiritual abilities, he decided to train Zhou himself on how to be a member of the interrogation unit, and he only took Zhou under his wing.

During three years, Zhou experienced every physical, mental, and emotional torture method known to the Seireitei. Zhou's day-to-day experiences altered during his duration within the PIT. The PIT stood for "Private Interrogator Training." Within those walls, no one could hear the vile screams, the pleas for help, or the cries for mercy. Instead, most found solace in potential death. Every single one of the Interrogator's subjects in the past did not survive the PIT. Either they needed to be killed due to their minds being lost, or they had managed to kill themselves. Of course, Zhou was not told this information. Instead, he was subjected to torture every single day for three years. The first-year - physical. The second-year - psychological. The third-year - emotional. The PIT was designed to keep subjects alive no matter what sort of pain they faced. Consistently healing his body, but not relieving the pain was how Zhou was able to live through the first year. For the second and third years, the PIT mesmerized Zhou. For different periods, he was forced to watch loved ones die in a plethora of ways, he was forced to witness betrayal from any angle of his life, he was forced to watch everything he did fail, he was forced to be nothing. In short, he was broken. Zhou had gone through lifetimes of suffering. Each fear Zhou had discovered and hadn't was exposed to him repeatedly. Zhou was mentally destroyed by the middle of the third year. Although lost, Zhou did have his Asuchi alongside him, and that was his "key." In the middle of the third year, the broken Zhou was taken away from the abuse and appeared in a world unfamiliar to him. Inside of a place absent of color, structure, or being, Zhou momentarily escaped from the pain, the torture, and the horror the PIT had on him. Moments after wondering exactly where he was, a voice akin to a child called out to him. Zhou could barely make out what was being said, but mid-sentence, Zhou finally did hear the voice offering to take away his pain. At first, Zhou believed it to be yet another illusion. Willing to give his very life at this point, Zhou accepted the offering, at the cost of who he truly was. Sealing away his dreams, ambitions, pain, fear, and in ways, parts of his will, Zhou had reawakened, displaying a contrast to himself previously. All of the pain, resentment, and anguish he had felt subsided. All that remained was his clear head, his devotion to his duty, and what was left of his personality. Zhou became the first successful experiment, and also was the first step in discovering his Shikai.

Harboring no resentment, Zhou gained the art of torture within his arsenal, perfecting his newfound talent. Lacking emotional pain, he felt no empathy for those he tortured. Although he never explored beyond the scope of his instructions, he displayed a promising future in the field. Part of the need for PIT was to cultivate one emotionally strong enough to torture any subjects without any discrimination. As part of the interrogation division, Zhou became a shoo-in for his ability and was sought after by a number of those who were rather tough to break. Despite the number of people he tortured, showing no bias to age, sex, or beliefs, Zhou seemed to be the same as he was the day he passed the PIT exam.

It wasn't until his later years that Zhou was able to consciously activate his Shikai. After a number of missions, tribulations, and assignments, Zhou finally was in tune with his Zanpakutō to the point where he was finally able to access his world. The layout looked akin to a dim hallway, structured with doors on both sides of him. Zhou walked through the hallway, opening different doors. Each door held a different memory. Each room was carefully constructed, organized to the letter. There was nothing out of place. Zhou saw the place as a sanctuary where he was able to relate to -- a feeling he forgot. Despite exploring as many doors as he could, he found that he could never reach the end of the hallway. Zhou examined endless doors, but it felt like none of them mattered. There was a door beyond his reach. It seemed as if no matter how many steps he took, he could never reach the door that mattered most. Finally, someone exited one of the doors appearing behind Zhou. Zhou took the opportunity to question the familiar being and found out numerous things, such as their name and where exactly he was. Zhou then described the feeling that he experienced about there being more. The spirit explained that the place was ever-growing and ever-changing. Each experience added to the structure of the world. That's when Zhou noticed that the hallway was getting longer. Zhou wondered if he could ever reach the place that called to him the most, but he settled with exploring the world, with Shujin Kagi, the spirit, as his guide. Throughout Zhou's time within his realm, Shujin Kagi always referred to him as the Gatekeeper. It wasn't long before Zhou was able to manifest Shujin Kagi, activating his Shikai.

With numerous experiences, during the time within the Onmitsukidō, Zhou was finally drafted into the second division as the fourth seat and the one in charge of the interrogation team.

Time passes and with time, so does the placement of responsibilities. With first being in charge of the Interrogation team, Zhou’s desires became to leave the morbid scene of breaking someone’s will into oblivion via torturing, harming, and all-around destruction. Although he doesn’t lament his time in this position, Zhou began to grow more concerned with his growth, with his development as a Shinigami. With full loyalty towards the Gotei 13, he simply began questioning his overall place in the Soul Society – if being the lead interrogator would have been the best in the long run. That job in itself turned Zhou into what he was – cold, cruel, and direct. Despite the strength it gave him, the lingering weakness of not truly being able to progress was something that weighed heavily on his being. He remembered the stark differences between Kyomu and Yasu – both being strong in their own right. Both powerful Shinigami grew not because of where they started, but because of the paths they took. Zhou decided to grow stronger on another path, not the one specifically carved for him to take. Although this decision was not a light one, being a Fēng, he was so grounded into the following instruction, that his path was not carved for him, it was paved by someone else – inspiring to be a perfected tool for someone else’s gain. With this, he was limited just as any weapon would be – to the ideas, purposes, and aspirations made by someone else. With this, Zhou aspired to become an instructor. With Zhou being able to examine someone from the top-down, able to determine if someone was lying, and practically force the truth out of someone, there was something he lacked more than anyone he felt like – being able to genuinely socialize and have a personality. Even his reiatsu reflected on being a bland development. With this, Zhou opted to take his life on another path, submitting a formal request to be in the third division.

Once granted, he became the most awkward Hakuda teacher one could ever fathom, at first that is. He tended to be rather strict, blunt, and heartless within his sessions, refusing to remotely think of allowing someone to pass if they didn't display a certain level of aptitude. It wasn't until he began talking to a number of students and feeling the pride that came with being a teacher that he began to blossom. He learned more about himself, gaining a sense of what made him happy -- assisting others and pushing them forward. Even though he has a harsh teaching method, Zhou continues to push those he can to their limits but not to the degree he was pushed. Learning the difference between breaking one down to be a tool, and building one up to be of great strength, Zhou's intense teaching methodologies are used to create powerful Hakuda combatants for the Soul Society.

Becoming acclimated in the 3rd Division was not without its issues, but there blossomed a number of relationships that Zhou ultimately would have not had. From training with Asahi Kajiyashiki, becoming acquainted with Honoka Oki, and consistently training with students, Zhou’s very self became more cultivated and grew significantly. With nine months of growth, there was a lot he learned and aspired to do. Not only teaching students, Zhou began training himself. With the world of the living being in shambles due to the recent events and with him being someone that eventually would take the students out into the world of the living, training was paramount. Something that would have normally taken decades to train and perform, took Zhou months. This was because of Zhou’s Zanpakutō. With Zhou’s ability to unlock his body’s potential, a conceptual ability specifically attributed to Shujin Kagi, Zhou was able to literally force his body’s abilities to planes of ability that most couldn’t fathom and force his body to heal itself at a rapid rate. With this methodology of training, Zhou’s progression wasn’t a miracle by any means. Instead, it was simply the byproduct of what his Zanpakutō could do for him – utilizing the supplementary applications thereof. With his body naturally adjusting to being in a consistent state of being unlocked while training day in and day out, Zhou began to be able to tap into his trained state without needing to utilize Shujin Kagi. With the inspiration from the games that Zhou watched at a later time, he studied various techniques and abilities from its participants. With this inspiration paired with the brutal beat-down from his clan, Zhou became stronger than before for those around him.

Notable Features: At first glance one could easily tell that he was blind due to his milky white eyes and his youthful appearance often have people mistake him for being experienced. However observation of Shichi could vary if one would acknowledge how many swords his zanpakuto had been divided into even while in its sealed state. He carried two of his blades on his left hip and one on his right. There is also a Raven with light gray eyes the can be found hovering over Shichi's location or on his shoulder; he created a bond with the black bird by nursing it back to health.

Personality: Despite having a troubling past Shichi is a very high spirited young man with a kind heart. However it doesn't take much to set trigger his anger due to him having a short fuse although he does still remain in control of his action and would rather get into brawl before having to draw his blade against anyone despite being a highly skilled swordsman. Shichi was a soul reaper that hated death but took the job as he knew ultimately he could help prevent many more by taking up arms, before every kill he apologizes to his target before making the kill.

Reiryoku Level: High Spiritual Power

Shichi is a youthful shinigami who's spiritual power has great potential however due to self doubt the young man has neglected reaching his peak. Growing up he came to know that he possessed a relatively big pool of Reiryoku but it was nothing astounding albeit it quite high. When it comes to offensive capabilities he is severely lacking and unable to devote much of his Reiryoku to the task at hand but if defense comes into the question then his efforts are blessed by this high spiritual power in full indicating that this is where he shines. Despite this, he learned to call upon this spiritual power and familiarize himself with it but he continues working tirelessly and hoping that maybe one day he may surpass his limits and get one step closer to achieving his personal goal of maintaining Reiryoku akin to that of a captain.

----

Sensing Reiryoku Master

After learning to sense Reiryoku, Shichi made it his primary goal to expand his overall sensory capability. By utilizing his sensory abilities he can determine not only the features of those around him but he can also make out the terrain around him familiarizing himself with the surrounding area so that he may use his agility as he sees fit. Shichi uses his Reiryoku as an extension of his mind allowing him to see the images his eyes cannot and does so constantly allowing him to identify anyone within in his sensory range. He can perceive most threats from a great distance allowing him to make the decision to stay and fight or if the threat is too great for him to deal with personally then he can abscond.

Reiryoku Control: Great Control

Spending his years under the teachings of his adoptive father, Shichi has always had to utilize the utmost amount of restraint possible. It was not something his mentor valued and in the worst cases he criticized the fact that Shichi relied on his Reiryoku. Ever defiant of that man’s wishes, Shichi devoted one hundred years to being able to harness his spiritual power and because of this Shichi's control over his spiritual energy is far beyond that of an average soul reaper. He can manipulate it with ease allowing him to produce kido spells without reciting their incantations. He is a reserved person and his ability to conserve his spiritual power during it’s usage affords him a longer amount of time than normal until he becomes fatigued. As a man who has been in control of himself throughout the toils of his lifetime he has focused on maintaining this ability to manipulate the exertion of his spiritual power in this way.

Reiatsu: Specialist

Shichi's reiastu has the ability to make himself and other intentional targets to believe they have rejuvenated. His reiastu is capable of deceiving an individuals pain receptors allowing one to continue fighting as if their wounds have been healed, even given the perception of closing open stabbed wound in a matter of seconds. However this illusion regenerative ability also applies to the user's overall stamina and vitality and allows Shichi to outlast most people in physical activities.

Reiatsu Colors: Gold

Reiatsu Shape: Fox

Reiatsu Effect:

Damage-
Upon releasing his reiatsu, a crushing feeling spreads in the chest of those affected. If exposed for too long and if the person were weak enough, their bones will begin to snap. Those subjected to this, will leave the experience feeling as if they’d been buried under the rubble of a collapsed building.

Reiastu Type: Standard

Zanjutsu Level: Master Swordsman

When it comes to wielding a blade Shichi, is one of the most deadliest swordsman; capable of wielding three swords at the same simultaneously to deliver a ferocious onslaught of slashes. Shichi can wield three blades by holding a sword in each hand and one in his mouth or just simply swapping between each blade between every attack catching them mid air using pure speed leaving little to no time for a single opponent to find an weak point in his offense. When combing his skills with Kagami's techniques Shichi can have a near perfect offense and defense set up. He's even capable of channeling condensed spiritual energy projectile attacks from his blade.

Despite being a blind child Shichi's adoptive father forced him into wielding his very first blade, the old man was very passionate about carrying on his legacy, passing on his three sword style better known as Sān dāo liú (三刀流"Mito stream") to someone he deemed worthy. Most would wonder why a sword master would choose a blind child to teach sword techniques, however the old man had been a blind swordsman himself. He would go on to each Shichi how to use a blade like it's an extension of his own person. Unlike most who initially begin training with a Bokken (木剣[/i]"Wood-Sword"[/i]) Shichi was compelled to start his training with a real Katana. When it comes to wielding a blade Shichi, considers himself to be one of the deadliest swordsman alive; capable of wielding three swords at the same simultaneously to deliver a ferocious onslaught of slashes. He can wield three blades by holding a sword in each hand and one in his mouth or just simply swapping between each blade between every attack and even catching them mid air. When combining his skills with Kagami's techniques Shichi finds that he has a nearly perfect offense and defense.

Makoto three sword.png

Shichi's first test consisted of him cutting down a tree with a single strike utilizing a bokken. A young Shichi would pull the unexpected and gain his fathers favor by cutting down the tree with a single attempt. However that moment was just the end to a new beginning. Shichi found himself training his other siblings despite being the youngest he was also the most talented. During these training session Shichi had already moved onto dual wielding using his katana and bokken to attack and defend while training his siblings who all had a single Katana. Shichi would use his past experience from training with his adoptive father to easily defeat his siblings who were also quite proficient with the way of the sword however they were no match for Shichi's Niten Ichi-Ryū (二天一流; “Two-Sword Style”). It didn't take long for Shichi to master dual wielding while he still early in on in his youthful years, their wasn't a single day that he went without wielding a sword. Santoryu Ogi: Ichidai Sanzen Daisen Sekai (三刀流奥義"Three Sword Style") is a unique and rare fighting style where the practitioner wields three katana at once and has been used by a small number of sword master. When first learning how to grip a blade between his jaw Shichi, struggled to adjust to the style but eventually overcame the difficulty by strengthening both his masseter, temporalis, and medial pterygoid; each are muscle in the jaw that functions around the jaw closing. Learning to firmly grasp a sword in jaw as if it were a third hand. As a final test he had to face his own master in an epic battle that was not only physically but also mentally challenging, that one duel also carried on for several hours until Shichi could come up with a strategy to outsmart someone that already knew all of his moves and attack patterns. Sadly he was forced to use this new tactic to not only take the life of his master but avenge his siblings that was mercilessly slaughtered by their own adoptive father for failing to meet his expectations.

Zanjutsu (斬術, Swordsmanship; Viz "Art of the Sword")

Known Techniques: Senmaioroshi (千枚卸, Thousand-Page Wholesale),Hōzan Kenbu (崩山剣舞, Fallen-Mount Sword Dance; Viz "Crumbling Mountain Sword Dance"), Ryōdan (両断, Bisection)

Hohō Level: Shunpo Expert

As a blind swordsman Shichi is quicker on his feet than most would expect, however Shichi is very precise with his footwork. He's also very flexible with nimble agility. Shichi has devoted his time to developing his shunpo technique to where he is able to cover a great distance in a single step and can do so with little to no effort at all. When training to hone his footwork Shichi, had to rely mostly on his sense of hearing to anticipate attacks meaning he had to be able to recognize the telltale signs around him with more precision and caution.

Hohō (歩法, Step Method; Viz "Fast Movement")
Known Techniques: Speed Clones

Hakuda Level: Hakuda Combatant

When in close quarters hand to hand combat, his Hakuda is heavily reliant on his footwork and so naturally his body fits the style so that he may be flexible and nimble enough to allow him to properly mimic his sensei's techniques. He learned these styles to help defend against bigger opponents utilizing their own momentum against them or to unleash a devastating barrage of kicks simultaneously. Shichi is also capable of being deadly without utilizing a bladed weapon. Shichi is so well versed in hand to hand combat that he is able to switch between armed and unarmed attacks to gain an edge in battle.

Hakuda (白打, White Hits; Viz "Hand-to-Hand Combat")
Known Techniques:

Spinning Flash Kick: A Hakuda technique where the attacker turns upside down and performs a rotating straddle split to deliver multiple kicks to nearby opponents.

Kidō Skill Level: Kidō Specialist
Kidō (鬼道, Demon/Spirit Way; Viz "Demon Arts")

Shichi's has a rare talent for using Kido spells and picked up on it rather quickly but favored mostly the bakudo spells as it complimented his defensive fighting style. Unlike most who had time to study incantations thanks to being able to read, Shichi focused on the few spells that he did know increasing their proficiency and then eventually he learned to cast most lower level spells without reciting their incantations. Whenever he uses kido spells without their incantations they are slightly weaker but still contain fire power to be considered as a threat. The redhead shinigami may have not been kido master but was able to master a specific spell known as Shakkahō (赤火砲, Red Fire Cannon; Viz "Red Flame Cannon") which he favors and can easily cast the spell from one hand consecutively between each discharge their is a small time gap that is slightly under a second before the next shot.

Zanpakutō Name: Yūrei(幽霊"Ghost") Seishin(の, "Spirit") Gùtǐ(現実"Solid")

Zanpakutō Appearance: While in their sealed state Kagami appears as a very rare site and consist of three basic katana's with a golden guard and handle with a black cloth assist with gripping the handle, Shichi sheath's two of his blades on his left hip and one on his right.

Zanpakutō Spirit
f528054e2ea230741b97f7784ea53d6f.jpg

A very aloof spirit that does not allow Shichi to make contact with her. Many times Shichi has tried to develop a closer bond with his Zanpakuto spirit but she has no interest in him getting close to her. Any time that he attempts to, she will erect a barrier that keeps him at bay. This does not mean she does not recognize him as her wielder or that she dislikes him in any way it is just that she is obsessed with her personal space. She has in her possession three magatama that she wears around her neck. When Shichi tries to talk with her she doesn’t respond with words. Instead, she will offer him an expression on her face that is left for him to determine how she is feeling. There is no resistance between the two as she fully trusts Shichi with her power. Her silence is deafening however and at some points Shichi could swear that she isn’t present in mind, body or spirit oftentimes staring off into space with a trance-like look tattooed upon her face.

Once he acquired the ability to freely travel between Guti, Seishin, Yurei inner world he’d often meditate in his free time there because it was the only place he’s able to see. The shrine's ground is surrounded by a golden lake that gives off a unique golden glow as if the sun was shining from underneath the water and affords Shichi sight if he looks into it. The view is amazing and often treated more as a sanctuary than a training ground.

Shikai Ability:

Shikai:
His Shikai consists of three swords each bearing a magatama the bottom of the handle with a gem at its center and each gem has its own unique color. The Shikai bestows the three swords with the ability to create barriers and each have their own effect that is assigned to a specific sword. When triggered, the gem emits a bright light that summons three magatama that appear in a circle as a projection of reiatsu where Shichi aims it.

Seishin(糸"Spirit”): Barrier Seishin is the one of three barriers that is only effective against reiatsu attacks, consuming it and creating a barrier against that attack in the wake of his sword’s swing.

Gùtǐ(固体, "Solid"): Barrier Guti is one of three barriers that is only effective against physical attacks such as punches, kunai's, or sword strikes; consuming it and creating a barrier against that attack in the wake of his sword’s swing.

Yūrei (幽霊"Ghost"): Barrier Yurei is the third and final barrier, the third barrier is capable of blocking intangible attacks by making them tangible once they come into contact with it.

Each barrier has their own name and color based on the shade of their gems. Yurei is red, Seishin is blue and Gùtǐ has a Golden hue. Attack’s from someone with greater reciprocating force upon either blade will cause the barrier to disperse however it will still successfully absorb an attack before dispersing.

Biography
Ever since the day he was born Shichi was unable to perceive light which ultimately resulted in him being declared blind. This often made him cry as an early youth because he was scared of what he couldn't see. No one would help the poor blind child and he was alone until he was eventually adopted by the master of the three sword style. This man was also known as Professor Ma. The old man not only adopted Shichi and gave him his name but he also immediately began training his new disciple. Within a few decades he had Shichi mastering dual wielding and begun his training for mastery of Santoryu Ogi: Ichidai Sanzen Daisen Sekai (三刀流奥義"Three Sword Style"). After impressing his adoptive father he was able to earn his favor and be welcomed into his sanctuary. There he finally got to meet the eldest of Professor Ma's adopted children Ichi, he too was an orphan child with no one to look after him. Ichi was a profound master of the Three Sword Style and the two siblings immediately developed a brotherly bond after training together. At that time Ichi was attending Shinigami Academy and was a few months away from graduating but when the two were finally able to talk alone, he found out what happened to the other siblings that didn’t gain Ma’s favor and why he gave them numbers as names.

A few decades had passed after Shichi discovered the truth about his adoptive father but he would also keep it a secret that he knew about Ma’s sins and continue his training to become a master of the three sword style. However everything changed when the professor brought in a new disciple. Shichi began to wonder why this child was brought back after he had gained his fathers favor, he worried if he would’ve suffered the same fate as his deceased siblings. He would eventually get to meet with Hachi (はち”Eight”) and the two immediately bonded as if they were long lost siblings. Hachi was very shy until she was able to get comfortable around people then she would tend to be energetic and entertaining. After a few months of training she was brutally murder by professor Ma as he cut off her limbs in what seemed to be a single stroke of blade. This triggered an outburst from Shichi as he immediately drew his sword against his own adoptive father with the intent to kill, unfortunately this event took place before Shichi he had entered Shino Academy meaning he was only able to rely on basic senses such hearing, smell, and touch. The battle was completely one sided with Shichi on the defense until his eldest brother Ichi stepped in sacrificing himself while crippling Ma. With his brothers help Shichi was able to finish off Ma and ended his reign of terror preventing him from being able to slaughter anymore innocent souls for his own personal vendetta.

After the passing of his remaining siblings, Shichi had begun to wander aimlessly around the soul society running off of his survival instincts for an entire year. When he finally stopped grieving he decided to enter Shingami Academy despite being blind and he proved to be at the top of his class becoming a soul reaper within just a few months by exceeding in zanjutsu, kido, and overall spirit control. He passed the academy’s expectations with ease and once he became a shinigami he joined the eleventh division.

Nickname(s): Hisa | Koga

There is often the need for the retail of information and rare items. The Kobayashi had reached a reputation that brought them among the nobles over the years through the acquisition of otherwise inaccessible objects and intel. This specific service, however, is something not often known to the general public. Instead they live under the guise of working as private security. Shinigami frequently patrolled the Rukongai, but many still needed a more direct protection of themselves or their assets. Such a trade allowed for them to scatter their ears among the public and even in some cases make it among the Gotei 13. Though with the latter, there isn't much of a clientele that desires information or items from that source. The Kobayashi have a portion of their family dedicated to keeping their doings not only secret from those in the Rukongai but also from the Soul Reapers. The group never says where they acquired their commodities, keeping their backs covered as well as preventing any intervention from others.

Munehisa tries not to involve himself in his family's less honorable activities but of course is aware of what they have their hands in. The only matters he directly influences is the legitimate side of their private security endeavors. He is the next in line to be the clan's Patriarch, but he holds no real desire to hold said title.

"It really doesn't matter to me if you are right in this matter. I have a job to do and so it shall be done."

Affiliation: Gotei 13
Profession: Shinigami
Title: Seated Member
Position: TBD
Division: First Division (一番隊, Ichiban-tai)
Base of Operations: Seireitei | Soul Society | First Division Barracks

Sworn to the sword. Munehisa exhibits a constant need to be a perfectionist in his professional life. If there is a mission to be had, he will execute it with the absolute smallest room for error. Nothing stops the dedication for perfection that flows from him. This wasn't always the case. He joined the Gotei 13 as yet another plant from his family's endeavors but came to enjoy the feeling of completing missions and being apart of a well-oiled team. Every since that change he has done everything in his power to be a strong asset to those around him and the organization as a whole. His conviction never laid within a 'belief' in the core purpose of the Shinigami but instead simply the high of reaching a perfect conclusion to something. To be honest, he doesn't perceive the way the Soul Reapers go about things as having as imperative of a purpose, but that in the end means nothing. The mission is all that matters. Munehisa's present track record with tasks has been flawless. All objectives met and brought to a definitive end. If his name is attached to something, he will personally make sure it's signed, sealed, and delivered with the upmost care. Despite his history with tasks, until now he hadn't really tried to truly stand out among his peers. Given the most recent events within the World of the Living and the Seireitei, he has found it by far the most imperative time to put a proper hat in the ring.

"I have but one tie to my past. This arm, you see? It's the one time I made a mistake. I keep this blight as a constant reminder to not let something like this happen again."

Notable Features: The most prominent feature of this man is his arm which is usually concealed by a piece of equipment known as the Tendoriru o Tanoshimu (テンドリルを楽しむ, Reveling Tendrils), something designed by a young Shinigami he had come across in his past. Previously he had simply used standard bandages but he went through them rather quickly due to the nature of the blight that has afflicted his limb. The resilient nature of this custom made wrappings prevents the necessity to replace them as often.

The affliction upon his arm was inflicted by a confrontation with a problematic Menos in the past. It had a unique ability to cause that which it bit or cut with its claws to succumb to an infection that breaks down the space around the affected space, as well as that which it touches. Munehisa was able to dispatch of the Hollow while resisting the spread of the infestation, but needed immediate medical attention afterward. The Fourth Division was able to find a quick resolution to the blight that stopped it's spread and the degradation of his arm. However, when asked if he wanted it completely removed from him, he declined, instead wanting to keep it as a mark of failure. A source of further motivation for future missions to come. While the Hollow's infestation had been contained and no longer posed a threat to Munehisa, it still can bring harm to that which it touches, albeit to less efficiency. He then chose to keep it bound to prevent his touch from "burning" that what it connects with. The damage it can cause is rather minimal, it would take a considerable amount of time to do anything substantial. It's effects due to the handling of the initial infection is similar to touching a hot surface.

divider_for_Munehisa.jpg

Personality: Munehisa is a perfectionist through and through. He doesn't hold that trait as strongly in his normal day to day but with his job it is his strongest quirk. If he can pressure any situation into a diamond, it'll be done at whatever cost it takes. This doesn't extend too far into recklessness but certainly presses the boundary a bit. If the mission is even just to deliver a message quickly he'd have already been there before any words can be added to the conversation. He has to kill a target? They will be executed without a second thought and with as little, if any, complications/damages. The man that finishes the jobs is not one of emotional ties or concerns. All that matters is the job's completion. If there is room to grieve a loss from the mission, it can come after it has been resolved.

When it comes to those in opposition to the Gotei 13's motives and laws, Munehisa takes it upon himself to act as a judge, jury, and an executioner. If he deems your heart to be well-natured then he'd likely spare a life and lessen the punishment, while someone truly corrupt would be dispatched on sight. The only thing overriding this nature is if there are orders on the table, for those are absolute. His one and only shackle is his that which he has been commissioned. Anything else, is determined by the nature of the individual(s) before him. Conventional ideals around who is good or not means nothing to him. If you are an otherwise good Shinigami but have a mark on your head, you are dead without question. There is no such thing as true malevolence or benevolence. This perspective leads Munehisa down the path of a skeptic, something that makes others often perceive him as just being a nihilist.

Outside of a professional persona, he is a rather kind individual, enjoying the company of others and a good conversation. Between rarely being outwardly excitable, angered, or saddened, some may perceive him as being emotionless. That is not aided by his monotone way of speaking, but that preconceived notion is completely false. He experiences things just as anyone else, but does not try to put it on display. This habit born partly by his family's conditioning while also just his preference. There's a time and a place for everything.

Relatives: The Kobayashi are a rather sizeable family that also has an extended family that hold a different name. The main clan holds the cards while the other instead acts as sheer numbers to fuel their enterprise. The relationship is symbiotic between the two even though it may come off as the latter being less important. The hierarchy of the Kobayashi does not discriminate on sex or gender identity but instead on seniority. If multiple members are super close in age, then there can be a vote for who takes the reigns of the clan. All members opinions are taken into consideration, even those of able children.

"You should consider yourself lucky. I can make this as painless as possible."

Reiryoku Level: Immense Spiritual Power
Munehisa finds himself at the perfect point of spiritual power. He spent centuries tempering his Reiryoku, something that is potent yet does not overflow the glass. His family has a rather consistent time bringing life to souls with higher levels of Reiryoku. This reality leads to most of them ending up being recruited as Soul Reapers. Munehisa himself was the only one reluctant to join the Soul Society's ranks, finding little desire in their operations, yet ultimately ended up enlisting anyway. A man driven by the goal of perfectly executing tasks means that ones body and performance must reflect the same. If there is an opportunity to be what he sees as "perfect" he will beat those lessons into himself by any means. His motivations for such a thing are not driven by a desire for power or to surpass any given individual but instead to be the best asset he can be. The overall physical prowess and stamina of this particular shinigami is akin to the higher end of Captains.

Sensing Reiryoku: Master

Does this man have a third eye? No, he couldn't... Maybe someone else calling the shots from afar? Unlikely. Munehisa always has been keen on noticing the slightest flow of spiritual energy ever since he was a child, something that only blossomed with time and practice. Of course this was another point of his interest to achieve his objectives but also is something of amusement as well. The look on other's faces as they thought they eluded the man, only to meet with the empty yet intimidating stare of his. Munehisa is able to detect these fluctuations and presences without really putting any thought to it. The minute differences between the emissions of a difference race, even while it is being reduced, are clearly within his sight.

Reiryoku Control: Mastered
Munehisa's prowess with controlling the power that flows through him is impeccable. His meticulous planned centuries of training made sure of that. A man of habit, Munehisa organizes his time to best optimize his own growth, the completion of his responsibilities, and even time for recreational time. It is rare for him to be spontaneous and with that he put in the proper amount of time to hone his abilities. Hundreds of years come and gone of these constructed schedules left him with little excuse not to excel at that what he does. His favored application of his Reiryoku is the execution of Kidō and the use of Hohō.

"Do you truly see a point to this engagement? You are certainly blinded by misplaced conviction."

Reiatsu: Master
Reiatsu Effect(s): Nihilism & Self-Injury | Reiatsu Type: Standard Type
Reiatsu Colors:
Purple & Black

Munehisa's Reiatsu emissions are something he scarcely releases in close proximity of his allies, for its trait is something that could easily debilitate them from operating normally. Exposure to it will rapidly hinder the motivation of an individual, contorting their mind into a place of pointlessness. What goal and motivations they formerly had begin to slip away. Is there truly a point to this battle? Is it worth dying for? Who is really going to benefit from one's contribution? Mastery of controlling this release was an upmost priority given the nature of it. The more malicious Munehisa acts, the more twisted the effects of his Reiatsu are. It will press beyond the point of a hinderance and reach towards a means of execution. A complete mental collapse is likely to lead to the nihilistic effects convincing them that everything is meaningless, potentially provoking self-incapacitation. An extreme that not even Munehisa believes in, making him hate that level of influence on others.

Visually it takes on the appearance of a circular abyss with trails of it extending from Munehisa and pathing for the vortex, as if it was consuming his spiritual pressure. Perception of his being distorts slightly as the flow of his Reiatsu obscures the light before him, shadowing him out and adding an additionally menacing layer to him.

"How is this for slice of life?"

Zanjutsu Level: Master Swordsman
Munehisa spent a majority of his time in the Gotei 13, learning and growing his proficiency with Kidō and creating various applications for his Shikai. Between the nature of his weapon's ability and the use of spells, he wanted a proper solution for close proximity combat. Zanjutsu had become just as much of a tool for his advances as his spellcraft. If he should ever find himself in a scenario that called for something other than the Demon Arts, he could easily keep pace in proficiency with his blade. This talent going as far as to even use both Kidō and Zanjutsu simulaneously without stripping the other of its effectiveness.

He enjoys keeping this muscle trained by sparring with others in his free time. Times when he is not occupied by work or games, he can probably be found keeping up with his Zanjutsu. When it comes to the typical perception of those who utilize this sword style, there is a connotation of honor. A samurai respects his opponent and does not strike from the shadows. That may be true for most but Munehisa will not hesitate to be deceptive with his advances.

Munehisa's bladework is as precise as a surgeon's scalpel. If he wills simply to disable than it will avoid vitals and should he desire execution, death would come swift. Just another instance of this man's drive for perfection. Not only is he talented enough to work with a blade's edge but also it's blunt side and it's scabbard. He is easily capable of making minute movements and shifts during actions that can alter the intent of his strike. A simple flick of a wrist or reorientation of certain fingers could be what spells the end for an opponent. Munehisa has also grasped completely the ability to fight with two weapons at once. He has developed a technique he calls Chōetsu-tekina Bunkatsu (超越的な分割, Transcendant Divide). Through the use of blindingly fast maneuvers, he is able to make his strike appear as if it was swung one way but it would be nothing but an afterimage, the real strike hiding in its shadow..

"Why are you running?"

Hohō Level: Shunpo Master

Even around experienced practitioners of Hohō, few can match the ghostly stride of Munehisa. His footwork makes him but nothing more than a whisper on the wind. Each bound of his step outpacing almost anyone who did not hold mastery of their respective acceleration technique. In an instant a killing blow could be dealt, while the oppositions eye had seemingly not lost sight of the Nihilist. One could start to question whether or not he had even remained where he stood at a given moment. Or was that presence nothing but a mirage.

There's no better tool to apprehend, pressure, or dispatch of someone else than such a skill. The Kobayashi have the lessons of Hohō engraved into their history, these techniques passed down through their ranks from the information they have gathered internally within the Gotei 13. It is required of their spies and thieves to have a thorough understanding of this art above all others. Serving as a tool for both the acquisition of assets but the escape in the event of their cover being blown. Being among the clan's next in line, Munehisa was expected to understand this facet as well as some degree of martial arts regardless if he was to join the Soul Reapers or not. This knowledge made him an apparent quick study among his Academy class, but he did not push to stand out further than he already did. He may not have been a plant among the ranks like some of his family, but he still did not crave eyes to fall upon him. Afterall, discretion was beaten into the minds of the Kobayashi from birth. Some of their methods even borderline mild torture to insure that their existence and operations were as precisely done as possible... And more importantly, a secret to wandering eyes.

Munehisa trained for many years with weighted gear on him constantly to further hone this skill. Adding to the amount with each milestone met. He'd have to meet his current standing and push beyond before he would be satisfied with that current point. Yet that mark would not be an end, for another goal would have to be set. He incorporated it into his swordsman and spellcraft training to add more of a challenge on himself. It would not be enough to own mastery of such a skill if he could not also tie in everything else he knew into it. To be a member of the clan he belonged, as well as the organization of which he was employed, being outstanding is always a standard to be had. Even if it is only internally celebrated.

"There's always someone who'd want to get a bit more personal... Fair enough. Don't complain when something breaks."

Hakuda Level: Expert Hakuda Combatant
From a young age Munehisa had begun the lessons of Martial Arts, an expectation among his clansmen. He had gained a rather solid grasp of hand to hand combat landing him good marks within the Shinigami Academy, but his practice of this trait was a mixed bag after his one arm had been blighted during a botched mission. He still continued to train from that point onward but he began to favor refraining from making contact with others with his afflicted limb. It never was a matter of discomfort or even caring if others experienced the lingering effect of the blight, it's a matter of pride. As a perfectionist by both upbringing and personal aspirations, the corrupted arm is a testament to failure. It has always been an option to remove the Hollow-born effect from said appendage, but he prefers to hold onto it as a keepsake. A reminder more accurately. It is his tether, his shackle, to what it means to be a failure.

His restraint from using his blighted arm has over the years acted as a double edged sword. On one hand, his pursuit for growth in Hakuda meant he had to understand it even more thoroughly to fight without that limb. On the other, it prevented him from achieving a true mastery at a pace he'd find more desirable. It is not an impossible goal even without the use of that arm, after all, there are likely masters with some brand of disfigurement that pressed on. Though as it stands now, he will remain just outside the reach of mastery until he can either push beyond his fruitless pride or instead achieves it by sheer perfection of techniques that solely can be executed with a single arm and one's legs.

His aversion to striking with his afflicted arm isn't something he will completely enforce, he will breach beyond his self inflicted limitation in what he deems a desperate situation. In the end, the mission takes priority before any personal emotions.

"Kidō is my alpha and omega. The first of my masteries. An absolute means to an end."

Kidō Skill Level: Kidō Master
Munehisa is one of the few that have claimed a title among those that have a mastery over the Demon Arts. His fascination in spellcraft had been something that has been in his mind for as long as he could remember. There's of course a strong practical purpose to typical martial techniques, but the sheer amount of potential that Kidō holds is limitless. The moment he had the ability to expand his knowledge on the topic, he took advantage of it. His family held many books on this specific art but it wasn't necessarily something they were equipped to spend time teaching on their members. Outside of their skill to shroud their appearance and a few assorted barriers, it wasn't really practical to dwell on Kidō. This factor was something that was a leading factor to Munehisa's enlisting within the Gotei 13. Someone of his position would traditionally be expected to remain around the compound and been molded into the next clan leader, but he sought something else.

Being caged to the limitations of the various dealings the Kobayashi had was not exactly his style. There was no growth to be had, there was no real aid that such an existence could bring. Sure. The information and protections the family provided had its merit for some, but there was no real personal gain outside of wealth. Munehisa wasn't the one to care about something so trivial. A construct of importance placed upon paper and low-quality metal. What mattered to him was that if he was going to put in the work in service of others, it was going to be for something that would at least be more appreciated.

His practice of Kidō had humble beginnings but he quickly tried to expand to experimentation with various spells. What happened if he tried to change the shape of this? Delay the effect of that? What if he just combined this spell with this other in some way? This came with plenty of failure. Lots of backfiring and injuries that never deterred him his training. The amount of times he'd have been bloodied and bruised from a failed experiment and he'd continue to try up until he couldn't any more. Medics around that time certainly knew this man's face from the frequency of his curiosity with the practice. It eventually even lead him to study Kaido to preserve himself during these tests. Fast forward a few hundred years and one would find this specific Kobayashi a master of this trade. Truly it was the only of his masteries that he had a strong pride for. The others came with nothing other than a sense of convenience for him, but Kidō, it was his lifeblood.

Anyone who'd aid him in learning a new spell or another way of using an already learnt one, he'd accept with not a lick of hesitation. Even if the subject matter was forbidden, that consideration would be taken. Does that mean that he'd openly risk himself by using it in an average battle? No, of course not. Yet having that tool in his back pocket to ensure the absolute most important of missions he could prevail, it may be something he draws out. Munehisa doesn't desire to really tie himself with the division that specializes in Kidō as far as being a member or relying on them but... if the Kidō Commander himself gave him the light of day... Maybe a question or two would be had.

Bisāju no Kōshin (ビサージュの更新, Renewing Visage)
A special spell developed by the Kobayashi as a means of deception. Through the use of a specially made clay crafted by the family and the spell casted upon it, one can assume a different visual identity. So long as they remain wearing the substance, they will assume the appearance of someone else, most often ones that are completely made up from their own imagination. The Kobayashi implemented this spell craft to infiltrate areas and function under the guise of someone unrelated to the family. The individuals that fill this purpose often aren't allowed to leave estate grounds without the use of their mask, given that it does not alter or hide their spiritual presence. Familiar acquaintances or enemies may be able to figure out who they were by such a thing, so its important that the face and spiritual energy matches. Outside of the family's dispatcher of these spies, no one is aware of who acts as one. The secrecy of this process remains solely to said dispatcher and the current family head. Munehisa has no clue as to who within the Seireitei is one of the Kobayashi and they would not share with him or the others of their ranks as to who they were. He finds this a blessing since he'd rather not have any awareness of who was doing what and where among his clan. He could instead focus on the task at hand.

This is not just a mirage style of illusion but instead adapts the clay to compensate for any shapes and textures their body can not naturally provide to their guise. It is more akin to wearing a life-like costume and therefore spells that shred illusions do not work on it. The spell can only really be broken apart by the practitioner or significant damage that breaks away the clay.

Kumo no Ha (蜘蛛の刃, Blade of the Spider)
Some might say the best defense is a good offense, but the two aren't exclusive. Munehisa developed this specific barrier spell to quickly alternate between sword and shield. By casting this art, an individual conjures a thin barrier that can have its length and width easily manipulated. Despite it's narrow form the barrier is incredibly durable while also bearing with it a sharp edge. The practitioner is able to bring forth this wall with the intent of not only intercepting an enemy attack but also to slash them with blade-like edge. The orientation of the barrier is completely controlled by the user, meaning it can be directed and moved as if it was a sword in their hand. The speed and power of Kumo no Ha is really only limited to the mastery of the practitioner.

"It is imperative that I be as versatile as possible."

Master Tactician
Games that take a bit of deep contemplation are certainly the most enjoyable for Munehisa. This mentality extends to the place of combat as well. Munehisa's whole style revolves around controlling the situation. He turns the tide with his ability to manipulate the very space around him with the tools in his repertoire. Acting with a swift and concise hand is important for a Shinigami, especially when lives are on the line, but one needs to also be considerate of how their actions will affect their situation. A thought that is always flashing through the Nihilist's mind. Where there may not be time to waste on such thoughts, for him it ends up being something of extreme forethought. Before a die has even been cast, he is already running through potential scenarios.

Eidetic Memory
Munehisa's memories may as well be a movie he can watch again at any point. Remembering things isn't just a wandering name or concept to him but a scene that was painted in that moment. Awareness of this trait has been present since he was a small child. He had a knack for remembering where every object in his room was. A single toy misplaced by the smallest margin immediately alerted Munehisa that someone had been in his room. This skill helped him greatly with written exams, mimicking other's movements, or simply recognizing differences. The practicality of this in a battle is limited but if it comes down to taking something from the past and applying it to the present, he'll have anyone beat.

"Living Weapon"
Munehisa's indomitable will lead to him learning how to utilize every part of his body in a conflict. Extreme feats of dexterity, strength, flexibility, and sheer tolerance are traits he houses. Dismembering this man is hardly a way to stop his onslaught. If one finds themself a target of his, only the most fatal of blows will cease the Butcher from the First Division.

Tendoriru o Tanoshimu (テンドリルを楽しむ, Reveling Tendrils)
A set of specially made wrappings developed by Hiroka Ikari, a member of the Eleventh Division. It was created with the intent to hold up against the impossibly hot circumstances created by Ikari's Zanpakuto and therefore was a perfect tool to contain the contain the blight upon Munehisa's arm. Where it may not be something directly associated with heat, it's corrosive quality is kept back by these bandages. They do however require semi-frequently replacement due to the affliction eventually eroding through them. Just as with their creator, they are able to be manipulated by one's own spiritual energy but Munehisa doesn't have any real desire to do so.

Denreishinki (伝令神機, Divine Messenger Machine)
An electronic inter-dimensional communications device used by Shinigami while on an assignment in the Human World. The Denreishinki looks nearly identical to the cellphones found throughout the Human World, and comes in many different designs.

Gigai (義骸, Faux Body)
An artificial body which allows Shinigami to remain in the Human World and interact with Humans. Munehisa had his personal one affixed with a self-destruct feature that only he is capable of triggering. This allows him to weaponize his transition from being present inside his Gigai to his return as simply a soul.

"I'm the warden around here and you are my prisoner! Let's see how long it takes to break your spirit! Just don't make it too easy, alright?"

Zanpakuto Spirit:
Shūjin no Kaifukugo, nicknamed Kai, is kind to anyone that Munehisa finds favorable and malicious towards the opposite. He is playful and continuously jovial around the shadows of familiarity and foundness within their Inner World, but revels in the torment of their enemies. Kai has absolute faith in the judgement of Munehisa and confidence in his capabilities. The two are always on the same page. There is never a misstep between them or even a moment of disagreement. Kai is very communicative with Munehisa, aiming to frequently pick the man's brain. Even to go as far as to play games amongst themselves. Their relationship goes beyond typical partners and reaches to a genuine friendship. If they were tied together by their fate, it's likely they'd still have the same relationship.

Soul_Eater_Episode_9_-_Witch_Jail.png

Inner World: Fuzai no Mokuhyō (不在の目標, The Gaol of the Absent)

A place dubbed with a name that marks a place of lost souls. The inner world of Munehisa appears as a sprawling prison with doors and passageways bound by tape that reads "No Escape". The walls are molded and worn and the ground is moist from the dripping of water from the cracked ceilings. Filling each of the cells is the shadows of those that have either died from his blade or in proximity of it. They are nothing but their image, repeating the last words they said, their final scream, or the silence of a quiet death. Outside of the droplets leaking from above and the utterances of the gaol, one can hear an ever present humming and the clanking of an object against the bars that line the space.

Munehisa himself perceives this world as a place representing the inevitably of death and the lost meaning behind last words. Even with the presence of reincarnation the person one was is gone and the actions they've put into motion will inevitably fade to time. If life had meaning than it'd end completely through death. For him this place is an odd mixture of depressing tones but also houses some odd comfort. The otherwise hopeless feel of the space, the echoes of those that have passed, and the dim lighting, all come with some odd catharsis. It motivations him to work as hard as he can to do what has to be done now, because it won't mean much after he's gone. And once all is said and done, all can fade into the background. Shikisoku Zekuu (色即是空, All is Vanity)

"Did you assume I wasn't taking this seriously?"

Ability Name: Giin no Sokubaku (議員の束縛, Lawmaker's Shackle)
Shikai Special Ability: Shūjin no Kaifukugo carries with it the power to adapt the physical "reality" of an object within its influence. Through contact with the weapon itself or Munehisa, that object can have its physical properties altered, as well as the way those which are under its effect interact with one another. Whether it be the sudden shift in a subject's state of matter or simply a specific change of its make up (hardness, weight, buoyancy, or even elasticity). He can also define the way two of these alterations react when coming in contact with each other. So even if he changed the hardness of two objects without any other modification, he could have them bounce or stick to one another.

The shape and orientation something takes with this ability can not be manipulated further by Munehisa directly. For instance, he can not convert something to a liquid and then move said substance through the use of his Zanpakuto's ability. Only outside forces that act upon the subject will further alter or create disposition with it. That being said... At any point willed by the Nihilist, he can revert the afflicted to its original state. A choice can be made at this point to then restore something as it was (whole) or to instead do so in whatever shape it currently takes. Shūjin no Kaifukugo is a constant-release Zanpakuto and therefore requires no activation phrase or other prerequisite to initiate its effect.

"Owari no Hōfuku (終わりの報復, Reprisal of the End)"

Bankai Special Ability: Every warden needs their prison and a... captive audience. In Bankai, Munehisa drags all those within a massive area into a realm other than that which they stood. The sound of rattling chains and an expanding sphere of darkness prelude such an ability. In a mere moment said black orb would envelop the desire space, claiming with it its victims. The new space they would reside in has no life in the heavens above and the very ground below is coated in blackened flames and smoke. The sounds of faceless screams and whispers trail along the wind, likely echoes of former victims. Suspended in the sky hangs shadowed figures of those drawn in by the secondary release, hanging by their limbs that are bound by barbed wire. Even Munehisa has a doppelganger that is trapped by his true power. He is not spared from the effects of his Zanpakuto. Any and all within have shackles that form around their necks and limbs, that which can not be destroyed by any means. Should an appendage be removed and restored, it will simply reappear soon after. In the end they are nothing but cosmetic, a reminder of what this realm sees them as.

While within this void-like prison, all prisoners must adhere to the rules of the warden.

Daiichihōsoku Gyakusetsu (第一法則: 逆説, First Law: Paradox): The presence of two of one's self creates something of an instability in the originating form. Over the course of an individual's stay within the prison results in their body gradually being converted into dust. The longer the remain the more and more they will fade into nothingness. Since the realm itself counts as contact with Shūjin no Kaifukugo, the physical manipulation is a constant, and therefore this law is unavoidable.

Dainihōsoku Kakuri (第二法則: 隔離 Second Law: Kakuri): All present are constantly blinded by their slow decay into dust, but the Second Law, it speeds that process up. The closer one gets to their doppelganger the faster their body will be converted into dust. It would be as if they were flying too close to the sun.

Daisanhōsoku Kyōyū Kugyō (第三法則: 共有苦行 Third Law: Shared Penance): Typically Munehisa only bears the ability to adapt the physical properties of a subject, but within Bankai he is capable of manipulating the very personal physical traits of the prisoners within. Anything that can be classified of a physical trait of someone is able to be copied, shared, or all together removed. One's strongest defense could become that of someone else's in an instant. This ability is the only one precisely controlled by the Nihilist. It is a law that is completely in favor of him.

Saishū-hō Tanshukubun (最終法: 短縮文, Final Law: Shortened Sentence): The last rule of this Bankai. Those that perish while inside the effect of this weapon will lengthen the time it takes for Munehisa to dissolve while shortening it for all other parties. This trait can be applied multiple times and is something that he finds a bit unfair but knows that it is just the nature of the world. Things aren't fair and soon enough... All things end. Just some sooner than others.

Shūjin no Kaifukugo in this release alters its shape into that of a massive sword that visually appears to be heavily worn. Just as with its natural state, it holds no shine, not even in the slightest.

"Just because I'm a skeptic doesn't mean I don't value the lives of my peers."

Personal Relationships: TBD
Likes: Perfection, Tough Jobs, Mahjong, Chess, Shogi, Go, Puzzles.
Dislikes: Failure, Imperfection, Over-Optimism, Sushi, Wearing Bright Colors, Being a Leader.
Hobbies: Coffee Brewing, Strategy Board Games, Archery, Festivals
Favorite Food(s): Coffee, Alcohol, Purin, Manju, Chicken Katsu, Karaage, Gyoza.

[1] Munehisa is one that often nudges the members of the patrols in the World of the Living to acquire for him various types of coffee. He stores and savors them just as some might with a high quality collection of alcohol. He has mastered various ways of preparing the beans, as well as ways to implement them, so that he can have the perfect coffee at the appropriate time.

[2] If there was to be a dispute among Shinigami internally, his first instinct is to recommend settling it over a game. He especially pushes this when he's involved, giving an excuse to play his favorite games. Munehisa is incredibly skilled at playing strategy games and can often be found playing them against himself, trying to outplay himself. He believes that such games are perfect and allow for one to truly test their wits and patience.

[3] Munehisa unintentionally sneaks up on people, he is not really conscious of this. Between being naturally light footed and skilled at spiritual energy suppression, he is practically a ghost even in his day to day. This could be remedied by simply announcing his presence but if individuals are conversating, he doesn't like to interrupt.

Division: 10
Base of Operations: Seireitei

Notable Features: It would be his eyes if one were to seek a striking feature on Koyo. The lush mint-green color had been a distinctive feature of his life. His facial features were described most often as blank. Or perhaps bland due to a lack of emotion shown on them. His hair was waves of jet black hair complimenting his pale skin. Jokes of him even being alive were made throughout his childhood. Beneath the clothing is wherein the problem lies, his body has many scars. Hidden beneath the common Shihaksho worn by most Soul Reapers. His reputation is elusive among his Division due to being almost blank like a robot as his mother intended. A small pocket was added to his uniform to house things he takes an interest in. Though these can be bugs or other such things most often.

Personality:

He is a product of his mother seeking the perfect child; she wanted something she could mold. She desired from her first to rise from poverty and poor status. So a strong, able-bodied child was required. It took her time to find a suitable specimen to be her partner. Once she found it, her son's training began almost when he was born. But not for combat or any physical advantage. No, absolute obedience and loyalty to his mother. Through whatever means brought value to her son.

Later, physical grooming and appearance were brought in, training him physically through torture. Not to endure it but to make sure the young child understood pain. That failure would bring pain, that his existence was to bring her up in the world. This has caused a severe psychological scar on Koyo. Making him frightened of losing and failure, willing to go to insane lengths to complete missions. Making him fear being even touched gently.

His mother has made it abundantly clear that without her, he'll die. That nobody will mourn him, and she'll make another one. As her children are replaceable even if the labor will be problematic. Secretly, he wants to make connections and find friends. It's something inside him, longing for whatever future he can. With this in mind, he continues to obey but hopes for an escape from this nightmare.

He values and cherishes his friends so much because of how few he has. The brainwashing effect made him desperate to hold on to any bonds he forged. He does seem to secretly enjoy cooking, among other small hobbies. Escapes like these were rare commodities for a person in his position.

Relatives:

His mother, Kisana Koetsuji, is the only relative in his life. The father was a random strong warrior chosen for his strength alone and nothing else. He didn't even know he got her pregnant as the woman left once it was confirmed.
524ca8231b38c535cd8768b28c9bbfac.png

Reiryoku Level: Immense Spiritual Power-

His reiryoku resembles a higher level Shinigami, his breeding from his mother choosing partners. Seeking strength did land her a suitable match; his reiryoku is impressive for one who hasn't been on the radar for his life. Koyo wasn't scouted or given the luxury of being observed by many. The first time his abilities were observed was at the academy. In which his mother had him join. This place allowed him to demonstrate just how strong his reiryoku was. Most students in his grade said that the air around him was thin. That pressure came from him, that knocked the wind out of some.

But others, it wouldn't phase; the strong simply saw it as another aspect of his training.

.

Sensing Reiryoku: Basic--

He learned the principles of art while in the academy, not mastering or becoming gifted in it. This is primarily due to him not being given the reign to do so. His mothers had selected particular skills for her son to learn. Mastering the art of sensing simply wasn't on the list. Something he could learn later, but a basic understanding was essential at least.

.

Reiryoku Control: Average Control-

Control of his Reiryoku was something his mother desired. How could she sell him off to nobles of any status as a boar? The child had to have some degree of refinement for them to see. The potential does exist for him to gain as he grows older. This skill required more focus, while he could do basic actions with it. He is by no means a master of wielding power beneath his skin. He can successfully use kido and, with a great deal of concentration, use his reiryoku.

Reiatsu: Specialist- The academy taught him as far as they were able to do so. Training him until he was set to join Squad 10. He was a devoted student in this regard and did try his best. And on occasion did show flashes of brilliance but never maintained them entirely. Despite the potential being there, something dragged him down. His mother's years of abuse before sending him affected what he could learn.

Reiatsu Colors: White

Reiatsu Shape: Though sporadic, requiring an emotional outburst from him. It takes the form of a Japanese Snow monkey's face, looking down on his enemies as he lets his energy out.

Reiatsu Effect(s): The effect that his Reiatsu causes are water vapor that comes into the air. This can cause humidity in the air due to the temperature of the water coming from his reiatsu being hot spring vapors.

Reiatsu Type: Element Type- His energy is of the elemental variety, causing the area around his person to begin birthing a water vapor of high heat. Though this is unrefined at the moment, it does play a part in his Zanpakuto powers.

Higen-Divider.png

Zanjutsu Level: Swordsman-

Koyo has a very unique style of combat when fighting with his Zanpakuto. His small stature is very acrobatic and allows him to move quickly on larger foes. When wielding his Zanpakuto, standard styles don't suit him in this sense. Koyo has to adapt and fight with Hakuda and Zanjutsu, leaning more into Hakuda than he does with his sword.

Known Techniques:None

Hohō Level: Shunpo Practitioner- He picked up the art of Hoho very quickly, naturally gifted at it due to his weight and size. Koyo was never a big child or bulky like others; this left him able to perform moves like this more accessible. While by no means trained in techniques, he is capable of performing the art.

Known Techniques: None

Hakuda Level:Expert Hakuda Combatant-For most of his life, he has been the more petite person. The one who was outmatched in many senses. But when it came to fighting with his hands, bare-knuckle brawling, or whatever have you. Koyo showcased an almost genius level of understanding. He seemed to grasp reach and size with frightening perception. Despite not understanding or knowing techniques, he would perform different Hakuda to give himself an advantage.

Be these throws or strikes to certain areas. Koyo is a diamond in the rough that could be polished to a shine. His particular combat style could evolve more depending on his teachers going forward.

Known Techniques: None

Kido Skill Level: Kidō Specialist- Koyo enjoys kido and finds it easy to be engaged in the act of performing it. There is a sense of peace as he speaks those incantations and makes those movements. As a spell leaves his fingertips, the sensations bring him a sense of peace. Koyo isn't a grand specialist or master of this. He enjoys it, whereas he does have more skill in using Hakuda itself. Due to the sheer experience in that field. No education existed on the outside for Kido; this was the best he could manage.

Skills and Abilities: None

Zanpakuto Name: Asashio 朝潮 (Morning Tide)
Zanpakuto Appearance: His Zanpakuto is standard in the form down to the sheath until it is drawn. The blade is white, making it difficult for eyes to stare at for long periods. The hilt is in the shape of a rectangle and has hollowed rectangles on each of the four corners.

Zanpakuto Spirit: steam to come from the right side of the body. Being in the presence of Asashio is standing waist-deep in a hot spring. The humidity and heat tend to overwhelm a person the first time. Asashio wraps his monkey tail around his waist. Keeping it from dangering or getting caught on anything. Among his more human features are his face and hair. Asashio is a handsome young man with white hair down to his back. It covers some of the monkey hair that lingers in that place.

He has a very calm demeanor and remains unphased by most things. Even his owner coming close to death doesn't seem to bother Asashio. Simply calling it another growing experience of life. But despite this, he does have a deep care for his owner. He doesn't wish for the springs he calls home to grow cold. He wants them to remain warm, to warm the heart damaged by that vile woman. The only being he loathes and wishes to drown in those very springs is Kisana Koetsuji.

Inner World: The world inside of Koyo is several hundred hot springs outside. They are of different shapes and sizes, some meant for indoors and others outdoors. The main attraction is a massive hot spring looking over a mountain. This mountain has many springs; some have long since gone cold. These reflect the turmoil of the upbringing that Koyo was brought up with. The springs could reheat someday, given Koyo's fractured mind's proper growth and attention.

Release Phrase: Breach the Surface

1c98131442610ee32000f099ed35415a.png

Shikai: Upon activation, his Zanpakuto shifts into a wooden plank. This is held most commonly under Koyo's arm. The look of the weapon is one used to cool down hot springs. Most often used in that sense, the appearance is deceptive as it can be used against swords without chipping. It is sharp enough to pierce and slash bodies.

Shikai Special Ability: His Zanpakuto creates hot spring waters of high temperatures that scald those struck by them. The vapors produced by his reiatsu drip along the wooden plank of his Shikai. Allowing him to wield them as a weapon. The exact form hasn't been given yet. Koyo's not grown fully used to wielding his Zanpakuto's shikai and has room for development. At the moment, he is capable of causing splashes and drops of this water.

Biography:Kisana Koetsuji always dreamed of being Noble's wife. Of becoming wealthy and above those she saw as beneath her. But how could she accomplish this being of such low birth? She came from one of the poor sections of the Rukongai. Her only choice was to give birth to a child who could do this. She was young and devious with her choice of targets. Seeking fine men who had energy and could provide her a tool. It took a long time, but finally, she'd managed it. Drugging a soldier and having slept with him, conception happened.

Born the first of the year, she named the boy Koyo. Conditioning exercises were begun almost as soon as he could walk. Nothing painful yet to slowly build reliance. Koyo's years as a child were spent training. His punishments included burning and being forced to fight kids more significant than him in size. His mother would often pit him against grown men. The only rule was nothing was to damage his face.

Eventually, his emotions became more and more suppressed from this lifestyle. These fights weren't done publically in a place they could be seen. Kisana was smart enough to know better than to broadcast her methods. He won some and lost some, picking up scars all over his torso. Scars were easily hidden by clothing, keeping his face handsome if a noble girl came. He could be used if his fighting prowess was found wanting.

The flow of time moved, and he grew into an empty shell in many ways. But his time in the academy away from his mother. This had begun the process of healing. Mending the broken mind and body with new experiences. The training was challenging; some things he was ready for. While others showed lacking skill, the polish was needed before anything could be accomplished.

His time in the academy was spent around people his age, not being beaten and attacked. Developing friendships through fragile bonds, he kept at a length. He had begun to connect to this outside world further. He was chosen to go to Squad 10; an incident had occurred requiring more people and manpower for that Division. So it was; his journey in a new life would begin.

Notable Features: Sōma has a meekly indistinct appearance (a trait he somewhat assumes from his father). His hair is that of typical Kiyoshi lineage, straight jet black of hair. While he does possess Kiyoshi blood, his eyes aren’t as rich in purple as his fathers, matching closer to a soft mauve he was often chastised and joked with among the Kiyoshi family for this minor difference. While he does have the physical body-type of his father, it should be noted that he facially takes more after his mother having softer features leading to a less rugged appearance. Underneath his shihakusho, is a well taken care of physique from long hours of practice and rigorous regimens.

Personality: Mild mannered and mild tempered, the young Kiyoshi certainly is a perfect representation of both his mother and father hosting both a kind and nurturing nature but also in times that require it, a shrewd fierceness founded from his father can be seen within him too. Often wanting to take after himself, he strongly believes in fairness above all things and almost blindly shows anyone in front of him the proper respect. He is a big team player always looking to help his friends and comrades with anything they may not understand. Similarly, he is not one to shy away from accepting help. Always rationalizing that it is always better to receive unwanted help than it is to not accept it. Figuring that active cooperation in the field of not only Shinigami but in the grand scheme of things surrounding life in the Soul Society is the key to their continuous cycle.

As a child, he was unaware of who his parents truly were. Living with his maternal grandmother from a very young age when his father brought him to her after the massacre of their family, Sōma has internalized the pain of not having a mother and father to care for him in his formative years. Often stating he doesn’t need his parents and would become an exceptional Shinigami in his own right, really masked the harsh truth that stuck with him for a number of years, that he wished to know who his parents were and why he couldn't be raised by them. It wasn’t until he was already out of his toddler years before his father came back to retrieve him from his grandmothers to start him on the life of a proper young Kiyoshi. While he respects and loves what his father represents and stands for regarding the family and his adherence to the code of the Gotei Thirteen organization, he still holds a small level of resentment towards him for abandoning him at an early age. It is unclear if he also blames Shusuke for the death of his mother, as the two have yet to speak about it in full detail.

While often seemingly unimpressive in almost every way, Sōma does have a quirky and silly side which his grandmother describes as ”his dear heart”. While he does have a small penchant for being anti-social with others, when prodded and placed in a situation that requires his vocal chords to be strummed he sings with grace in the face of others. He has also shown to be very in tune with his emotions, often hiding tears of either joy or sadness depending on the situation. It is this trait that allows him to be perceived by others as timid and insecure but really is a defense mechanism to get others to leave him alone. The only person who was capable of seeing through this was his very own father. Much like his forefathers, he is exceptionally brilliant, and has been described by many elders in the clan as the newest prodigy among the dark haired aristocrats. His skills are reflective of his grades and vice versa, Sōma has taken his training seriously and all of the advantages of being the son of a nobleman.

Reiryoku Level: Immense Spiritual Power
A natural well of power possessed by the young budding shinigami, and one that frightens the very clan he hails from. Sent away by his father for his own personal safety and into the care of his grandmother, unbeknownst to either that his son harbored a greatly raw deal of spiritual energy that had yet to be mastered and tempered to not harm those around him. Without knowledge of how to control his inner energies, the young Kiyoshi’s power constantly was an ongoing issue around the home of his grandmother, constantly altering the weather patterns as he grew up. By the time he was an adolescent, his inner energies had aged his grandmother considerably, draining her of her own well of reiryoku to combat his own. It still remains to be seen to what extent it is truly capable of, as when at its full display the chaos that ensues becomes entirely unpredictable. His father theorizes that with proper time and training, his own abilities could eclipse not only his own, but most empowered souls he may come across. When brought to full display through either an emotional response or through a purposeful release of power, Sōma's reiryoku is surely a force to be reckoned with.

Sensing Reiryoku: Expert
A highly perceptive young man, and a similarly skilled tracker, the pride of the Kiyoshi has immersed himself deeply in the understanding of reiryoku. Starting out with simple meditation practices taught to him by his late grandmother, originally to help him focus his young and active mind but in turn allowed him to zero in and be able to pinpoint near exact locations of any spiritual entity in any vast radius of his body. Even at a young age, he is easily able to discern the strength of an individual, and differentiate them based on levels of threat. Similarly, if one entity is too difficult to track in this manner, he will use his Seismic Awareness in conjunction with his natural sensory abilities to help accurately determine his opposition's position or location by applying physical touch to any surface and can be used at a deeper radius.

Reiryoku Control: Average Control
Possessing the skill and the knowledge of a Shinigami far above his current level, Soma has taken care of learning his body and the way in which he is able to control and seal off his overwhelming spiritual abilities. As of the current moment, he possesses a slightly above average control over his energies, with it being so large and him being rather unfamiliar with the best way to hone and sharpen his control over himself he continues to strive and learn more about reiryoku and actively keeps his reiryoku in check so as not to affect the others around him or to disrupt the atmosphere of his classes. He however gladly lets loose once he is in a class where he can make full use of his phenomenal abilities. Through thorough meditation and mental stimulation, Sōma has been able to identify the nuances in his specific reiryoku structure

Reiatsu: Specialist
As a young boy, his reiatsu was the reason his grandmother couldn’t care for him any longer as it had adverse effects over the secluded place in the rukongai that they lived. Cause drastic changes in both temperature and the weather as a whole, many torrential downpours and heatwaves have occurred making life difficult for both the young boy and older woman, with his budding powers not allowing her to properly keep a crop of vegetables or grow any plant life to make life easier for them. His reiatsu has been known to slightly tilt those from calm to manic after long periods of time being subjected to it.

Reiatsu Colors: Orchid Purple
Reiatsu Shape:
Undefined
Although versed in basic spiritual techniques, his reiatsu has yet to take on a specific shape once manifested.

Reiatsu Type: Standard Type

Zanjutsu Level: Swordsman
While not nearly as skilled as the current high-ranking Shinigami members of his family, he boasts fair scores in his classes in the academy, and even ranked number one in his extracuricular Bokken classes for multiple semesters. With his understanding of the sword growing, there is no telling as to how far he may reach as a swordsman but with his keen attention to detail it would appear that the sky was certainly the limit for this young master.

Hohō Level: Shunpo Practitioner
Like most students in the academy, he has an entry level understanding of how his movements should operate not only in battle but outside of it as well. Seeing Shunpo as another great skill for all shinigami to master, he actively tries to harness his movement speed by completely forgoing the escort that was set up by his father to take him to school every morning, and traveling on foot through the Rukongai instead by practicing minimizing his steps by ten every single day he attends.

Hakuda Level: Hakuda Novice
By no means a brute or an incredibly durable young man, Sōma particularly despises fighting foes with his bare hands. Potentially one of his more ’difficult’ classes as a whole, He takes extra care to pay attention to the detail when practicing his physical abilities. Innately having great body control, his professors have theorized that in time, once he is comfortable within himself, he could become quite formidable.

Kido Skill Level: Kidō Specialist
Along with his gifts as a swordsman, this would most likely be his next skill with highly proficient performance. Along with having an astute understanding of the inner workings and operation of any Kido spell, and the knowledge of how to effectively utilize his inner energies to perform various feats of skilled usage with his spiritual energy, Soma has potentially broken through the surface of understanding for even his senior peers and classmates. Known to be able to easily conjure spells under the forty-fifth level with shortened to very little incantation while retaining a decent quantity of the spells destructive or defensive capabilities.

Skills and Abilities: Seismic Awareness

Seismic Awareness: An innate connection with the earth and its surroundings surely makes this Shinigami not only a dangerous opponent in the thick of battle but a skilled all-around fighter and sensory genius. Without even utilizing his spiritual awareness or in combination with his spiritual abilities, Sōma can quite easily visualize, sense and partially manipulate the Seismic activity in or around his general vicinity. From stealth attacks, to even the most silent of sounds or vibrations, to even the largest scales of attacks and all the way down to the very conjurations and manifested energies of reiryoku. All produce some form of Seismic activity in which a skilled sensory expert such as Sōma can utilize against his opponent in the deadliest of ways. It can often be said his opponents can never be too far out of his reach as the earth beneath their feet acts as a conduit to their own undoing. Training this ability far beyond the sense of physical touch, his very reiryoku has now been honed and tamed to act as a form of tremor radar easily able to sniff out any abnormalities in even any change in wind or breeze, along with the presence of others. Even forms of intangible sources can be used to trigger this sixth sense, he feels confident that even in the event that he were to lose a vital appendage he would adapt relatively well regardless of what was lost.

Zanpakuto Appearance:
A standard looking katana in appearance, and is unfortunately not a fully realized Zanpakuto as it currently is an Asauchi. It exists as a regular sized katana with an oval shaped bronze crossguard. The guard is not adorned with any particular markings or identifying traits. The hilt wrapping is of black fabric with soft pink accents, however when exposed to rays of light the black silk shimmers radiantly as if stars existed within the wrapping. The scabbard is dark blue.

⦿ While most of his family members have more than one sibling, such as his father, mother and cousins, Sōma is the first only child of any Kiyoshi Clan Lord. It still remains to be seen if his father will take a wife and sire another child but when asked about the topic, he simply suggests that he wouldn’t mind a brother or sister.
⦿ He has a dog named Makkura (真っ暗, Pitch Black), a gift from his father upon his return to the Kiyoshi Clan Compound.
⦿ His theme song is Duckworth by Kendrick Lamar, his battle theme is 95 South by J. Cole.
⦿ Sōma’s english voice actor is Bryce Papenbrook and his japanese voice actor is Kensho Ono.
⦿ He is an avid reader and has bought every last SCC issue since he was able to read in order to keep up with certain events in the Seireitei and to gain insight on historical exploits that have taken place over the course of time.
⦿ Sōma tends to blend into the crowd unintentionally and in order to find him, one must know him well as a person or possess acute sensory abilities. In fact, his presence in its entirety can be considered nonexistent even when standing directly next to someone.
